What qualities make Keith fall for James? And vice versa?
tldr trauma bond i guess…?!
its kind of hard to narrow it down since in my headcanons they have such an extensive history. But theyre basically two sides of the same coin. they each want what the other has but they also kind of complete eachother.
james wants keith’s freedom, and in trying to gain it he brings keith stability and routine. keith wants james’ privilege, and in trying to get even a taste of it he brings james a carelessness he’s never had the option of feeling. its a simultaneous thing
in their garrison days i hc that keith ran off a LOT just because. Even when shiro was alive (it got much worse after he allegedly died). obviously shiro cant be there to chase after him all the time, so james kind of put it on himself to do that job. Even if it meant he would miss class and training (James never got in trouble, somehow him going after keith under the guise of bringing him back and keeping him out of trouble got him many accolades). Keith would run off, and without fail (its actually kind of uncanny) James would be tailing him. How far behind he was varied by day, by whether or not they had argued and fought the day before or whether they had gone out to stargaze. Sometimes he would tail far behind, keeping just close enough that he could still see keith on the horizon. Sometimes he’d be right beside keith, chatting away, reprimanding him for running off again but never once making a move to force him to go back. James follows Keith not out of true altruism: obviously he was worried Keirh would get hurt (there were many close calls on Keith’s adventures, where the only thing keeping Keith from having a much worse injury was the fact that James was there to pull him out of trouble), but also much of him enjoyed running off like that. He enjoyed the open skies, towering rock formatiobs, the risky adventures Keith liked to go on. Keith probably wouldnt be as risky if he knew that James woudln’t be there. In a sense James was his lifeline. Each time he slipped and was hanging on for dear life he feared that James wouldn’t show, and that it was over for him. But without fail, there he was. Safety harness securely tethered to the grand (but completely dead) tree a little ways back, reaching over the edge to pull Keith out with one hand under his armpit, the other around his wrist. It didn’t matter how far behind Keith he was. He was always there, always just in time.
if james had known keith was going to ditch the garrison, if he had known when keith would be leaving, he would’ve followed him. he would tail him into the sunset. it wouldve changed both of their fates.

I’d just like to note that the instant I sent the ask I started writing in the hopes you would say yes and I like actually squeaked I was so happy when you did and also I’ve been writing nonstop since then so bear with me:
*takes deep breath* Safety restrictions were famously lax in F1 until the 1990s. The deaths of Roland Ratzenberger and Ayrton Senna within days of each other at the 1994 Imola GP sparked a huge movement for new safety systems, especially barrier changes. As Senna and Ratzenburger both died in accidents related to the fact that the safety barriers at the edges of tracks were just CEMENT WALLS, this was a huge push for many teams, drivers, and tracks. No one wanted the death of more legends on their hands. These accidents also inspired additions like headrests in 1996 and the HANS system (head and neck support), put in place in 2003. HANS can be seen when drivers get out of the car — it’s that space-age looking neck brace/strap on their shoulders and helmet.
Some safety systems that are much less talked about are things like the accelerometer, first used in 2014 and placed in the drivers ear. This measures the forces during impacts, and its location in the ear allows both for less invasive placement and accurate data on head/neck movement for drivers. This then leads to better safety systems capable of being studied, reasoned for, and implemented. The addition in 2016 of a camera that faces the driver also allows for safety teams to see exactly how the driver is affected during crashes, as well as giving fans a fun camera angle (which I can rant about as well, camera angles in F1 are a huge thing for me).
Rapid fire safety systems (there will be a quiz):
Helmets were first introduced in 1952, but not required until 1977.
Seatbelts/racing harnesses required starting 1972.
Fireproof race suits have been required since 1975.
The safety car didn’t even exist until 1993 (trial runs in 1992, first seen in 1973 Canadian GP)
Pit lane speed limit introduced in 1994. Yes, before this they just ripped through as fast as they could; no, the pit crews didn’t stand any further away.
Wheel tethers introduced in 1999 after an unholy amount of incidents going back to pre-1950 (AKA official F1 start) where the wheels just came off and smacked drivers, marshals, and fans, usually killing them instantly.
The most notable safety system recently is the Halo and VSC (virtual safety car). The halo was put in place in 2018 and will hopefully never leave. It has been the savior of hundreds of lives throughout Formula series, but most well known in Formula 1 were Lewis Hamilton (2021 Monza GP, stopped Max Verstappen's car from becoming a permanent fixture in the side of his head) and Romain Grosjean (2020 Bahrain GP, pushed the crash fencing up away from his head as he hit the barriers), as well as possibly Zhou Guanyu (2022 British GP, flipped upside down and up over tire barriers into catch fencing) and Max Verstappen (2021 British GP, incredibly hard hit into a tire barrier — 51G impact at 160 MPH/257 KPH).
There had been a number of close calls that brought up the possibility of halos, like Fernando Alonso almost having his head removed from this world at Spa in 2012 on lap one, and an incident between Michael Schumacher and Vitantonio Luizzi at Abu Dhabi in 2010 that left Luizzi’s Force India inches from Schumacher’s face.
Unfortunately, it took the horrific death of Jules Bianchi in 2014 at the Japanese GP and a number of junior driver fatalities for the Halo to be finally seriously considered and implimented. Bianchi’s incident also led to the Virtual Safety car, which was put in place in 2015 to keep accidents like his from happening. I can talk more about his incident as well if you’d like. It’s a masterpiece of administrative fuck ups and terrible oversights.
(Ask me about it and camera angles I dare you)
HELLO BUCKET
this is wonderful thank u thank u
i did know a little about the senna crash (tho not the concrete barriers) (i do know that when it happened they were trying to revive the drivers union which is awful) and the bianchi crash (i looked at that quite extensively for update post) but Yeesh yeah the safety stuff is Terrifying. pls. pls tell me about the camera angles.

Outside the spire, the wind weakens. Not entirely. Shifting, like a held breath finally let go. An amalgamation of ash and snow drifts down onto the metal structure, like sand dragging across metal by retreating tides. For the first time in weeks, the storm no longer sounds like a beast trying to carve its way inside. The sky is still lead-colored and low, but there are breaks between the worst of it. Kessa rises early to watch them from the upper slit window, counting seconds between gusts, tasting the shift in pressure with each inhaled breath.
Moving with purpose, pulling on her heavy cloak, tucking something wrapped in cloth into her belt pouch. She doesn’t speak, not at first. Dorn stirs from his place near the fire, the prosthetic resting beside him like a shadow still finding its shape. He watches her in silence.
“It’s the day,” she says.
He sits up straighter. “What day?”
Her hands still on the edge of her collar, jaw set. “There was a breach. A spill in the old lowline shafts.” She glances at the window, at the pale light pressing thinly against ash-frosted glass. “Toxic flare. My parents were working the vent throttles when the lockseal blew. Safety system engaged. Shut them in to keep the chemical backflow from escaping. They died before anyone could override it. Sealed in with the gas. Nothing left but their tags and what didn’t melt.”
Words dropping flat, without drama. Just fact, honed by years of quiet carrying.
Pulling on her gloves. “I go up the ridge for them. I leave something behind. I don’t talk to ghosts, I don’t chant. Just… leave something. Something of mine. Something clean.”
She starts toward the exit hatch.
Dorn stands. “Should I come?”
Kessa hesitates in the doorway, the wind scratching gently at the outer seal.
“You can. Or not. It won’t change it either way.”
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Behind the spire, resides a ridge that once had been part of an access route for upper agri-shafts. Now it is a broken shelf of rusted beams and frost-caked moss. Near the edge, a length of an old vent pipe juts from the earth, sealed and burned black where the spill had once leaked.
Kessa kneels beside it. She unpacks a small ceramic bowl, hairline-cracked but carefully cleaned, and lays a coil of red thread inside. A token. A symbol. Something salvaged from her mother’s old gear harness, preserved through years of travel and storm. Taking a small breath. Then, wordlessly, she pricks her thumb with a bone needle and lets a drop of blood fall into the thread’s hollow curve. Not a sacrifice. A tether.
Behind her, Dorn approaches—quiet, respectful. He doesn’t speak. Kessa stares at the old vent.
“I remember the first time I tasted the chemical haze,” she murmurs. “You can’t explain it. Just… heat and sharpness. You feel it before you breathe it. I was six. They wouldn’t have wanted me there, but there was no one else left.”
Looking down at her gloved hands.
“They died so a quarter-sector wouldn’t suffocate in its sleep. No one remembers that now. Just me.”
Dorn finally moves to her side, kneeling down beside her. He doesn’t reach out. Doesn’t intrude.
“You remember,” he replies. “That’s enough.”
She nods; eyes still fixed on the rusted pipe.
Softly, almost without breath she says “I hated the way it smelled after. The vent metal, the seals. They never cleaned right. It stayed in the walls.”
Pressing her hand over the bowl “Let it stay here now.”
The wind shift again—no longer bitter, just cold. Ash drifting sideways and down, falling like old snow around them. After a long moment, Kessa stands. Dorn rises with her. They don’t speak again on the walk back. But at the threshold of the spire, she glances up at him.
“Thanks. For not asking too many things.”
His answer is quiet. “You told me what mattered.”
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Outside, the ash still drifts in ghost-thin veils, luminous in the dying light. Inside, the spire feels smaller, warmer. The hiss of boiling water, the occasional creak of old metal under strain—these are familiar sounds now, signs of survival. Not comfort, not safety, but enough.
Kessa moves slowly around the hearth-ring, stoking the fire with a scavenged iron hook, her shoulders heavier than they’d been that morning. A faint smudge still lines the edge of her sleeve, dark from the ritual. Dorn is seated nearby, a battered pot between them on the table, hand resting on a split board as he cut moss-root with deliberate care. His prosthetic hand lays still beside the bowl, connected but unmoving—he hasn’t yet tried to use it without cause. It sits like a waiting thing, not yet named.
The stew simmers low. Tubers and dry spice and cured strips from the last hunt thicken the water to something almost indulgent. Outside, the cold presses in close, seeking cracks. But here, inside the battered ribcage of the old spire, there is heat. Enough to speak softly. Kessa doesn’t speak at first. She stirs, tasting, adjusting. Her eyes flicker now and again to the frost-fringed windows.
He finally breaks the silence. “You’ve done this every year?”
A beat. Then she nods. “When I had the time. Or a place where it was safe. Some years, it was just lighting a burner in the wind and hoping it stayed lit long enough. Other years…” She gives a dry breath that might’ve been a laugh. “I carved their names into an old vent pipe once. It got smelted two days later.”
He looks at her but says nothing. Just lets the words settle.
“They died in the cold season, just before spring came,” she says. “Years ago now. There was a leak—one of the deep shafts. They knew it was bad. It wasn’t some safety system that locked them in. They knew sealing it meant staying inside. But they did it. My whole sector lived because they didn’t come back out.”
Silence blooms again.
Dorn stirs the pot once with the blade of his knife, slow and deliberate.
“They were brave,” he says quietly.
“They were workers,” Kessa replies, but her voice is softer now. “Brave didn’t come into it. Just… the job. Just life.”
He hands her a bowl. She ladles the stew without speaking, hands it back, then fills her own. They ate slowly, the warmth crawling back into limbs gone stiff from the storm and ritual alike.
“The signal.”
Her spoon pauses. A bit of steam coils upward between them, and she looks down into her bowl as if it holds the words she doesn’t want to find.
“You think it’s real,” she says at last.
“I know it is,” he retorts. “I know how the old tongue sounds. How it feels. That wasn’t some trader’s scrap transmission or an echo out of broken sky. That was deliberate.”
Shifting her shoulders, as if trying to physically shrug the thought away. “You don’t think it could just be old? Something bouncing between towers, automated, dead men speaking without knowing they’re dead?”
Dorn’s brow lowers. “There was intention.”
Kessa doesn’t argue. Not really.
“I heard that, too,” she admits.
The flickering light catches on the prosthetic between them. It casts a jagged, segmented shadow across the table. Dorn glances at it.
“You want to follow it,” she says, more statement than question.
He doesn’t answer right away.
“When the storm breaks,” he says. “Yes.”
Kessa nods slowly. “I figured.”
He looks at her. “Will you come?”
Her mouth opens slightly, then closes again. Setting her bowl down and leans forward, arms on the table.
“I’ve been running all my life,” she says. “Running toward something or from something, never sure which. But this place… I haven’t hated staying. That’s rare for me.”
He doesn’t interrupt.
“I don’t know what’s out there,” she adds. “I don’t know if it’s hope or another storm. But I’ve got reasons to stay. And maybe… reasons to go.”
Their eyes meet in the low firelight. The silence thickens.
“Then we make the decision when the snow melts,” he says. “Not before.”
Kessa allows herself to slowly exhale. “We’ll need packs. Maps. Terrain routes the herd can’t follow.”
“And tools,” he adds. “To repair what we leave behind.”
“And a way back,” she says. “In case it all burns.”
He nods once. “We’ll leave nothing behind that we can’t rebuild.”
Outside, the storm still whispers. But inside, between firelight and the hush of something fragile taking root, the decision hasn’t broken them. When their hands brush clearing the bowls, this time neither one pulls away.
That night, neither of them bring up the signal again. It is still out there, true. Still pulsing. But now it has become part of their silence. A second fire waiting to be fed. Tomorrow the journey might begin, but tonight is the choice to still be here.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sleep doesn’t find Kessa that night. The wind had quieted to a hush, but the silence left in its wake is worse. A silence that lets old thoughts breathe. The kind that finds her even now, curled beside the dim warmth of the ash-bed fire with her back against the wall and a patched blanket wrapped around her shoulders.
Dorn sleeps nearby. She can hear his breathing—steady, slower now than it once had been. She lets her eyes trace the outline of his form, broad shoulders stilled for once, the weight he carries less visible when asleep. He isn’t some myth here. Not a name out of buried history. Just a man who works, and bleeds, and slowly is remembering how to live. Just a man she’d saved… and who had saved her back.
Her fingers twitch against the blanket. The signal echoes still in her thoughts. The voice speaking in that strange, low tongue. Words that don’t belong to this world. And his face, when he’d heard it. Like stone cracking down the middle. Like something waking up behind his eyes.
Gaze shifting to stare into the dying embers. Her breath fogs in the air. Part of her wants to stay. Stay with what they have built. With the routines, the firelight, the herd in the caves, the stubborn survival they’ve carved out of a forgotten ruin. There is still warmth in the walls, literal and otherwise. Still time before the warmth fully leaves her bones. But part of her, quieter and harder, knows this isn’t the end. Not for him.
The wind shifts again, gentler now, more a breeze than a howl. Closing her eyes and leaning her head against the wall. If she has to leave this place again… it will be on her feet, not dragged by fate.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When the storm ends it’s not with a roar, but with a sigh. A slow thaw creeps across the spire. Ash crusts slide from the upper girders in wet, frozen chunks. Outside, the air is still frigid, but clearer. Luminous glow from between the clouds bleed through the haze, giving the slopes and broken ridge paths an eerie sheen.
Dorn stands at the edge of the upper gantry, the makeshift cloak tight across his shoulders, the new limb now slotted into his frame like it always belonged. He flexes the fingers slowly as he watches the land emerge. Behind him, Kessa steps into view, her hair wind-tangled and her boots thick with melt-sludge.
“It’s clearing,” he says without turning.
“I see that,” she murmurs.
For a long moment they stand side by side, watching the new light crawl across the ruined land. Faint trails can be seen again—old caravan tracks, half-buried markers, the crumpled frame of what once had been a crawler hauler. The world has returned, bruised but not dead.
Kessa hands him a folded satchel. “I pulled what maps I have. Some old terrain charts from before the collapse of Ridgeway Ten, and a few Guild-passed weather routes.”
He accepts it with a nod.
“We’ll need more than this,” she says. “But it’s a start.”
“I can hunt. And carry.”
“I know,” she says. “But I’ll still lead. At least until we reach the old drop scars.”
He looks at her, and she meets his gaze without flinching. There is no contest in it, only trust. They walk back inside together. By the time the sun, what little of it pierced the clouds, reaches its zenith, their packs are lined by the door. Cookpots lashed tight. Tools bound. Her satchel of salves, tinctures, and field wraps rolled inside a bundle Dorn has reinforced with strips of leather. There are fewer words now. Just motions. Readiness. The signal still pulses faintly, waiting, wherever it came from. Not louder, not closer. But real. Enough to chase. And they will go, but not alone.

The other day, I watched The Dark Knight Rises again, not for the action, not for the capes or chaos, but for one scene that hit me like a freight train of truth.
The Pit.
That godless, endless hole in the middle of nowhere. A prison carved into the Earth itself. No bars. Just despair. A sheer stone wall that teases freedom like a mirage and laughs when you fall.
Every man there? They try to climb out. They want out. And they all fail.
They all tie the rope around their waist, the so-called “safety.” The lifeline. The whisper of a second chance.
“If you fall,” it says, “we'll catch you. You can try again.”
And then comes Bruce Wayne. Batman. The legend broken. The man who must rise. He climbs with the rope. And he falls. He tries again. And he falls again.
Until a blind prisoner says something that I haven’t stopped thinking about since: "How can you move faster than possible, fight longer than possible, without the most powerful impulse of the spirit: the fear of death?"
And then :- “Make the climb… without the rope.”
No backup. No safety net. No “what if.”
Just one shot.
One sky.
One freedom that demands your entire soul to reach it.
That rope? It’s not just a harness. It’s a chain. A whisper that says “you won’t make it, so be safe.”
And I realized something: we’re all climbing with ropes.
We call them degrees we didn’t want. Jobs that drain us. Relationships we’re scared to leave. The cautious advice from people who gave up on their own dreams and wrapped it in the disguise of “care.”
We call it being wise. Being practical. Planning ahead.
But what if, what if, the rope is what’s keeping us in the pit?
What if the fear of falling is the only thing that gives you the wings to fly?
What if we have to risk it all to become what we were always meant to be?
And no, I’m not saying to be reckless. I’m saying:- be real.
Real about what sets your soul on fire.
Real about the life that haunts your dreams.
Real enough to climb without a Plan B.
Because if you already have a plan for failure, you’ll never burn enough for success.
I don’t want to tiptoe around my dreams anymore.
I don’t want to half-ass life and call it “balance.”
I don’t want to live tethered by fear, held back by Plan Bs that were never really mine to begin with.
I want to climb.
With shaking hands and a heart that beats like a war drum.
No fallback, no leash, no lie that says I'll be okay if I take the easier way out.
Only one outcome: freedom.
So here's to the climb.

Axora, capital of Auronia, is no stranger to labs, engineering shops, and testing facilities. Given it's a city like almost no other, these things are inevitable; Axora itself exists on the bleeding edge of Rutanian technology.
Quite literally, on account of the fact that it's flying.
Built on a massive platform suspended in the air by a complex, interconnected system of rotors, thrusters, inertial dampers, gyroscopic stabilizers, and so on, it is, if anything, a bit of an understatement to say that Axora is built on cutting-edge tech. While this platform was all that Axora was as originally constructed roughly 5 decades ago, it has since seen some expansion, first by extending the foundation itself... and later by tethering entirely new sections with indepedent propulsion into the main foundation. This has resulted in a web of smaller platforms almost orbiting the central platform, ranging from large platforms such as the one serving as the foundation for a currently-under-construction space elevator, to small platforms supporting smaller facilities intended to be isolated from the rest of the city, usually for safety reasons.
And on one such platform, in one such facility, we find a large room, about the size of a typical single-family home, with one wall conspicuously missing. Just a railing and then open air. Probably there's a reason for that.
Scattered throughout the room, mostly towards the outer perimeter, is a wide assortment of equipment- worktables with half-dismantled machinery on them, several large machines against the wall opposite the non-wall for different machining purposes, observation and monitoring equipment, various equipment for moving... other equipment, and what looks to be a control panel against the left wall.
Right smack in the middle, suspended about 10 feet in the air by chains anchored in several different spots on the ceiling, and with about a dozen different cables and tubes connected into it from both above and below, is a large mechanical device of at-a-glance unknown function. About 8 feet long, 2 feet tell, and about a foot and a half long, and mostly exposed componentry; it appears to have some kind of barrel running down the middle, with one end pointing out towards the wall that doesn't exist, and the other end terminating into some kind of heavily-metal-plated dodecahedral hull, possibly some kind of containment vessel for sensitive components inside.
There's also a boom lift right near this device, with its boom extended to position its basket right next to the suspended device, as someone standing in said basket appears to be working on it.
Tumblr media
Said someone is one Henix Aurorus, who appears to be finishing up some adjustments and parts replacements in the bottom-middle section of the device, as he wrenches a couple bolts to torque, and then starts reconnecting some wiring harnesses and quick-release tubes that apparently had to be disconnected to access what he was working on. "Alright, that's tuning coils set #251 installed. We should be ready to power her up now."
Tumblr media
"Not while you're still up there, we're not." A voice calls out from below- one Yuki Sakura, standing near the control panel mentioned earlier, watching Henix work from afar. "Unless you want to try your luck on what it feels like doing this time."
Tumblr media
"Yeah, yeah, smartass, I'm on my way down." The boom lift is now being driven away from the center of the room, with the basket being lowered in the process; once it's near enough to the floor, Henix shuts the machine off, and hops out, now making a quick jog over to join Yuki at the control panel. "Hopefully this iteration will be less catastrophic than the last one."
Tumblr media
"Pretty sure that's wishful thinking." As Henix approaches, Yuki turns her attention to the controls, now flipping some switches, with various machinery around the room whirring to life as she does.
Tumblr media
"Probably. But this is science, even if it isn't, we're still learning something." As Yuki continues turning on and configuring machinery via the control panel, Henix pulls up diagnostic information on one of the panel's many screens, checking to make sure all parameters are what they should be. He then pulls up a microphone from the panel, prompting the facility's intercom to kick on. "Void Drive, prototype F2, test #1082, is about to begin. All personnel, please stay clear of the test chamber."
Tumblr media
That announcement made, he lets the microphone retract back into its holder on the console, and moves over to a much larger switch built into the panel, helpfully labeled 'Sequence Start'. "Beginning firing sequence in 5." He counts it down... and throws the switch.
Immediately thereafter, the device suspended in the middle of the room, now identified as a 'Void Drive', starts to audibly kick on. Electronics energizing, mechanics clicking and whirring, and a quiet whine starting, which gradually becomes louder and louder. Presumably something charging, this whine continues escalating for about 30 seconds, before, with a deep, low, THOOM sound, the device fires a pitch black beam out of the end of the barrel, right out of the room, and stopping a short distance outside.
And right there, a rift in space appears, tearing open as the beam pierces it, opening into a black-and-purple expanse. The Void.
Said rift also immediately starts sucking in air en masse.
Tumblr media
"I have NO IDEA if we can call that an improvement!" Henix immediately moves to un-throw the switch to cancel the sequence and close the rift... and nothing happens. "Oh, not this shit again, Yuki-"
Tumblr media
"Already on it!" Surrounded by a faint multicolored aura, Yuki immediately leaps into the air, springboarding off the railing separating the space immediately surrounding the control panel from the rest of the chamber, and quickly flying over to the still-active Void Drive in the middle of the room. Circling around to its rear, she grabs on to what appears to be a circular hatch on the back of the containment vessel on the back of the device; she quickly undoes a latch, opens the hatch, reaches in to grab something, twists her arm, and yanks, pulling out what appears to be a canister containing a purplish-black substance.
Immediately, the Void Drive shuts down, the beam vanishing and the rift quickly closing in the process. The chaos it caused has now mostly ceased.
Tumblr media
"Okay, so parameters are still wrong, and the cutoff still isn't working reliably. I swear, we've tried fixing that sixteen separate times at this point." Henix is now re-reviewing the diagnostic information on the screen as he starts shutting things down again, and as Yuki now touches down next to the panel and sets down the canister she just almost ripped out of the machine.
Tumblr media
"I might have some ideas on how to fix that cutoff, but we might need to completely isolate the Void cell's electrics from the rest of the machine to make it work. We'd probably need to redo most of the circuitry and wiring for the control system."
Tumblr media
"Yeah, that might be what we have to do. I think my idea of using excess output from the cell to drive the control system instead of using external power isn't going to work out."
Tumblr media
"That said, I think I know how we need to adjust those coils to get rid of that vacuum effect, now. But it's probably gonna take some trial and error to get them set up right."

Venus enters Taurus ♀♉︎ 5th PDT 9:43 PM / 6th AEST 2:43 PM
Who or what possesses you? The name of the game for Venus in Taurus is to acquire through the art of seduction. Not through a messy display of conquests but through refinement and ease. Taurus moves slowly, intentionally and coordinates 'chance' encounters. When the object of desire has been targeted, there is no budging the bull towards an alternative because it takes just as long for a Taurus’ love to wither as it did to move into a state of safety and security. Like a delicate budding sprout, so too is the love of the bull, but once established, takes centuries to uproot.
While Venus is in Taurus, she doesn’t make many incredible aspects which would recount a torrid love affair, but rather a deep look into one’s relationship to whom and what 'belongs' to us. Venus meets with a square to Pluto right as she ingresses into the fixed earth sign, bringing ta critical look at how we relate to what we consider our possessions and our belongings.
What keeps you tethered and grounded? We seek security, reliability and a certain level of devotion while Venus makes her way through Taurus, however through her initial square with Pluto and night cap conjunction with Uranus, our relationship to how we seek security in our relationships begs to be questioned. Have we been manipulating a situation, intentionally or not to harness a level of control out of a fear of loss?
On July 4th, before Venus ingresses into Cancer, she is tossed through the electrical fields of Uranus – sending shockwaves with a chaotic exchange that leaves all previous expectations of love to the wayside. This could come through a situation which expands our capacity for love — opening new doors of perception that lead to a broader understanding of the nature and power of intimacy. Changes in the way we connect romantically with others is inevitably ripe for a revolution.

Originally, I didn't wanna say anything, but I'm filled with more and more anger the longer I have to see the replies and reblogs to this post.
Tumblr media
Now, no hate to this as a concept. I've intentionally covered the username and profile because I don't want to invite the OP to come try and start shit on my blog, nor do I want people to go to them and try and start shit either. In fact, I've seen some good points brought up retaining to the safety and comfort of the animal, as well as the difficulties this brings for people with allergies. Is this pretty aggressive? Sure, but it's the internet- and I doubt this person preaches like this in their day-to-day life, so who cares?
No. My problem is with this addition from the OP:
Tumblr media
As someone who has spent the majority of my life homeless, I think this is a perfect example of people invoking us in an argument where they truly don't give a shit about us.
This argument had nothing to do with homeless people. We are the seasoning you threw onto your food last second to make you feel like you hold some moral high ground to your dissenters. Not only do you kneecap your original argument with this (it seems like you care a lot less about "dogs in public" than you do "the general attitudes and cultural norms of the people and communities in metropolitan areas") but you also used us in an argument that we are DISPROPORTIONATELY AFFECTED BY.
I could go on and on about how insulting this feels, and how often it happens, but instead I'd like to use this moment to speak with any homeless people who cross this post.
The blog in these pictures is not wrong about one thing- one thing they go on to prove fairly well in this thread: That the punishment for the crime of "annoyance" is tenfold for homeless people, and that people will not hesitate to go out of their way to hurt us, have our things destroyed, bar us from public spaces, or any number of horrible treatments if they believe it will remove us from the forefront of their minds: all for the social crime of being deemed "unsightly" or "a nuisance".
This being said: IF YOU HAVE ANIMALS, PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE THEM AT YOUR CAMPSITE.
For many of us, pets can serve as guards (especially in unsafe environments), but at the very least they are functionally one of the few comforts in our lives, and one of the few tethers to "normal" that we are able to retain.
People do not believe we deserve that little grace, and the number of times I have seen someone's pet hurt or killed, intentionally set loose, had animal control called on them for being left unattended, or even straight up kidnapped- by everyday people who who took it upon themselves to play enforcer because they didn't like that the highway overpass looks dirty now, or by the same type of people who will preach about how the things that annoy them shouldn't be allowed in public spaces- is far too many.
So, since you won't have the privilege of just "leaving them at home" here are some tips from someone who's been in your shoes, and has been lucky enough to get to stand on the other side of the fence more recently.
(This goes just as much for objects as much as it does for animals- unfortunately when living like this, you can't guarantee the safety and ownership of anything left behind, and it's always safer to just keep your things with you.)
Make sure you have proper equipment for keeping your pet in public
Not only should you try and get a good, sturdy (non retractable) leash, but harnesses are harder to slip than collars, and make it easier to control your pets movement. Also, as much as you may not want to, a muzzle will keep a dog from barking, as well as negate the chance of someone claiming they have bit/ are a bite risk- behaviors which could have you removed from the premises at best, or have your pet taken or put down at worst. As much as you think "my dog would never" "they're too well behaved" or anything that makes you hesitant- a grocery store, a diner, or any other place you make need to take your pet will be filled with many smells, people, foods, other animals, and as much as you believe you can control your dog, you cannot control the world around you- and I promise you'd rather be safe than sorry.
If you are strapped for cash and can't go buy these items, then go talk to your local animal shelters, Petco/PetSmart's, community centers, and even outreach resources (shelters, assistance buildings, sometimes even free clinics). Many of these facilities will have donation bins specifically for the homeless or for people in financial crisis, or will be able to point you towards programs that can help set you up with equipment, food, and anything else your pet might need.
Please have your pet spayed/neutered
Not only do you not wanna risk having puppies or kittens on your hands, but animals are often more likely to be aggressive when not fixed. Your super sweet dog may attack another one for being in heat. Your cat will be more aggressive to humans because the hormones it's running with will make it more territorial.
Having a pet that loses it over people or other animals not only puts the animals in danger, but it also puts people in danger, and either way it's a sure fire way to get kicked out of the grocery store.
Talk with your local shelters (especially the ASPCA) about reduced fee fixings, many of them have programs specifically for people on the streets (and many will have free spay and neuter programs for cats specifically to reduce the number of ferals).
Make sure your pet is up to date on its shots
This one goes without saying: you don't want to hurt someone else's animal, or let yours get hurt. And you certainly don't want the vet bills from treating a sick pet
Again, talk with local shelters, any have assistance programs, or can point you in the right direction.
Ask whether or not the place you are going will allow pets in the first place
Many stores, restaurants, etc have no problem allowing animals, or will even pride themselves as being pet friendly, but if a place say no dogs/cats/ whatever other animal you may have (unless it's a place where there won't be other people, I really couldn't care less about what you're sneaking into your motel room)- don't argue or try and fight about it: calmly apologize and leave quietly and quickly. You don't want to draw attention to the situation or you risk having the cops called- and you are much more susceptible to mistreatment, harassment, and being locked up than whatever yuppie in the grocery store felt they were defending the public space. These are just spaces you've gotta accept that you won't be able to go (at least not with your pet)
Finally
Do not buy fake vests or certifications and claim that your untrained pet is a service animal, esa, or anything of the sort
Not only will it be big trouble if you're caught lying, but no matter how well behaved your pet is, or how much you feel they do a service, they are not trained working animals. They never be as well behaved as a properly trained service animal; and when pets (usually dogs) that misbehave, are reactive, or are generally just not actually working are claimed as service animals, it makes it harder for people with the need to bring their real service animals with them to do so. It emboldens business owners (who already have no qualms against discriminating against the disabled) to ban required service animals from their stores (and while this is against the law it rarely stops them). You don't want to do anything that makes survival harder for a group of people who are already treated like dirt for the crime of existing, the same way you would not like someone to make your life harder.
Obviously, the best option you have would be to leave your pets with a safe friend or family member for the day, but not everyone will have this option- and at the end of the day you should worry about your comfort, safety and survival, not about pandering to people trying to virtue signal to you on the internet while they spit in your face irl.
Stay safe out there
(and if anyone who sees this has links to resources for transient pet owners, or just for homeless people in general- please feel free to leave them in the reblogs, sharing is caring!)

Helping the Unseen: Sanctuaries for Street Cows, Donkeys & Other Animals
When people think of animal rescue, they often imagine street dogs or endangered tigers. But across India, millions of less-visible animals—like cows, donkeys, mules, goats, and even pigs—suffer quietly on our roads, construction sites, and marketplaces. Many are injured, abandoned, or overworked, with no one to speak for them.
Fortunately, a growing network of animal sanctuaries is offering these animals something they’ve never had before: dignity, rest, and lifelong care.
🏙️ The Forgotten Street Animals
These animals often blend into the background:
Abandoned dairy cows left to scavenge plastic and garbage
Donkeys and mules injured while hauling bricks, stones, or garbage
Goats tethered without shade or water, sometimes used in festivals or neglected post-sale
Camels and bullocks exploited in religious processions or tourist rides, then discarded
Unlike dogs or wildlife, these animals are not seen as companion animals or conservation priorities. But they feel pain, fear, and exhaustion just the same.
🆘 The Rescue Path: How They End Up in Sanctuaries
🔍 1. Citizen Reports
Many rescues begin with locals noticing a suffering cow or a donkey collapsed on the road. Sometimes, these animals are found with open wounds, fractures, or limping from untreated injuries.
🚑 2. NGO Intervention
Animal welfare groups step in—often working without government support. Organizations like:
Karuna Society (Andhra Pradesh)
Animal Aid Unlimited (Udaipur)
Peepal Farm (Himachal Pradesh)
VOSD Cattle Sanctuary (Karnataka)
Vantara in Gujarat, part of a broader wildlife and animal welfare initiative by Anant Ambani
These NGOs rescue, treat, and—when possible—relocate the animal to a permanent home.
🌿 Sanctuaries: Where Rest Begins
🐮 Cow Sanctuaries
India has thousands of gaushalas, but quality varies. Some are overcrowded or underfunded. Truly compassionate sanctuaries prioritize:
Clean, open grazing spaces
Shelter from sun and rain
Medical care for infections, broken limbs, plastic ingestion
Calf care and permanent retirement from milk production
🐴 Donkey and Mule Shelters
Places like The Donkey Sanctuary India in Ahmednagar offer:
Specialized hoof care
Rehabilitation from work injuries
Behavioral recovery for abused animals
Freedom from harnesses, carts, and beatings
💔 Their Scars Tell a Story
These animals often arrive:
Malnourished from scavenging garbage
Maimed or limping from accidents or overwork
Terrified of humans, flinching at every approach
Pregnant and abandoned, with no shelter or safety
Recovery is slow. But with time, care, and consistency, even a mule once used as a tool begins to act like the curious, social creature it truly is.
❤️ Emotional Healing is Real
People often ask, “Do cows or donkeys really bond or feel love?”
The answer from sanctuary workers is a resounding yes:
Cows that cuddle up to caretakers
Donkeys that bray excitedly when their favorite human arrives
Mules forming lifelong friendships with their rescued herd
Goats playing games and showing clear personalities
At sanctuaries, these unseen animals become seen—as individuals with quirks, preferences, fears, and friends.
🧑‍🌾 The People Making It Happen
Behind every sanctuary are everyday heroes:
Veterinarians trained in large animal care
Caretakers who bathe and feed injured animals
Farmers who donate fodder or water in times of drought
Citizens who sponsor animals instead of abandoning them
Activists and founders who turn acres of land into safe havens
These people do the quiet work of kindness—often with little recognition.
💡 How You Can Help
You don’t need land or money to make a difference:
Report abandoned animals to local welfare groups
Refuse to support animal rides or exploitative labor
Sponsor an animal’s food or medicine at a local sanctuary
Volunteer with or donate to rescue centers
Educate others about the lives of these unseen animals
🌎 Final Thought
India’s true compassion is reflected not in how we treat our most powerful animals, but how we care for the most forgotten. Sanctuaries remind us that every life matters—not just the wild, not just the cute, but even the injured bull tied by the roadside or the donkey limping through dust.
By helping these animals, we heal more than just their bodies. We restore balance, dignity, and kindness—to them, and to ourselves.

Harnesses, Collars & Leashes: The Ultimate Guide to Safe and Comfortable Dog Gear
Choosing the Right Dog Harness for Your Companion
When selecting a dog harness, comfort, control, and safety are three key factors that must be considered. A properly fitted dog harness can reduce strain on your dog's neck and provide more secure handling compared to traditional collars. Harnesses are especially helpful for dogs that pull during walks or have respiratory issues. They distribute pressure evenly across the chest, avoiding damage to the trachea. Today, many owners opt for padded, adjustable models for maximum comfort. Using a dog harness with a safety belt for dogs is also ideal when traveling by car, as it keeps your pet secure while preventing sudden movement during stops. Some harnesses also include reflective elements for night walks, further ensuring your dog’s visibility and safety. As part of a responsible pet parent’s toolkit, a dog harness is not just an accessory—it is a necessity for a happy, healthy dog.
Tumblr media
The Importance of Quality Collars in Everyday Use
Dog collars are more than just a stylish accessory—they serve practical purposes every day. A high-quality collar provides a place for ID tags, which is essential if your dog gets lost. When used appropriately, a collar offers quick control and is convenient for attaching a leash on short outings. However, pairing a collar with a dog harness during longer walks can prevent neck strain and improve safety. Materials like leather or nylon are favored for their durability and comfort, while adjustable designs ensure a snug, secure fit. Dog collars should never be too tight or too loose—ideally, you should be able to slip two fingers underneath. For added security during car travel, combining a collar with a safety belt for dogs is wise, helping to protect your pet in case of sudden stops. Whether for fashion or function, collars remain an essential piece of gear in every dog’s daily life.
Selecting the Right Leash: Safety, Length, and Control
Leashes come in various lengths, materials, and designs, and each serves a unique purpose depending on your dog’s size and temperament. A sturdy leash gives you better control while ensuring your dog’s freedom of movement. When paired with a dog harness, a leash can offer balanced guidance without pulling on the neck. For dogs that tend to dart or pull, using a short leash helps maintain closer control, especially in busy environments. For training or open-space walking, longer retractable leashes allow for more range while still keeping your pet safely tethered. A leash can also be clipped to a safety belt for dogs during vehicle trips, ensuring both comfort and protection. High-quality leashes are made from materials like reinforced nylon or leather for long-lasting performance. Choose a leash that suits your walking routine, your dog’s behavior, and your comfort. A thoughtful choice ensures your pet’s safety and enriches your daily bonding experience.
Traveling with Dogs: Safety Comes First
Traveling with dogs—whether by car, plane, or trail—requires planning and proper gear. One of the most critical items is a dog harness that can be secured with a safety belt for dogs. This combination ensures your pet stays safe and stationary during sudden vehicle movements. Using a safety belt for dogs not only minimizes distractions for the driver but also protects your dog from injury. For road trips or everyday commutes, specialized travel harnesses are crash-tested and come with durable attachments for seatbelts. Whether you are going to the park or embarking on a long journey, do not overlook the importance of keeping your pet safe. When flying, some travel harnesses double as in-cabin restraint systems, making transitions smoother. Always check that your dog harness is properly adjusted for a snug fit. Responsible travel is a cornerstone of modern pet ownership—and taking these precautions ensures your dog’s safety while maintaining your peace of mind.
Conclusion: The Smart Choice for Dog Owners
Your dog's safety, comfort, and happiness depend on the right gear—from a well-fitted dog harness to a reliable safety belt for dogs. Collars and leashes remain foundational for daily walks, identification, and control, while travel safety requires a thoughtful blend of harness and restraint systems. How do roofers keep from falling?
Working on roofs is inherently risky, with falls being a leading cause of injuries in the construction industry. Roofers face challenges like steep slopes, unpredictable weather, and uneven surfaces, all while working at dangerous heights. However, with proper planning, safety equipment, and adherence to best practices, roofers can significantly minimize these risks. Let’s explore the tools, techniques, and safety measures roofers use to stay safe.
The Importance of Fall Protection for Roofers
Fall protection is a comprehensive strategy encompassing tools, training, and safety protocols to protect workers from the dangers of working at heights. Whether on a residential roof or a commercial project, fall protection plays a vital role in ensuring roofers can perform their jobs safely.
Key Safety Measures Roofers Use to Prevent Falls
1. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Roofers rely on specialized equipment designed to protect them in case of a fall. Some of the most essential PPE includes:
Safety Harnesses: These full-body harnesses are attached to an anchor point, which helps arrest a fall and reduces the impact on the worker. Roofers ensure harnesses are properly fitted and securely attached before starting work.
Non-Slip Footwear: Special roofing boots provide better grip and traction, reducing the risk of slipping on steep or wet surfaces.
Hard Hats: While primarily used for head protection, hard hats also safeguard roofers from falling tools or debris.
2. Guardrail Systems
Guardrails are barriers installed around the roof's perimeter to prevent accidental falls. These are commonly used on flat or low-sloped roofs and offer passive protection without requiring active participation from the worker.
3. Safety Nets
Safety nets are installed below the work area to catch workers if a fall occurs. These are particularly useful for larger projects where fall hazards cannot be completely eliminated by other means.
4. Toe Boards
Toe boards are small barriers installed along roof edges to prevent tools and materials from sliding off. They also serve as an extra measure of security for roofers working near the edge.
5. Proper Ladder Usage
Ladders are often the first point of access to a roof, and their proper use is critical. Roofers take several precautions, including:
Ensuring the ladder is placed on stable, level ground.
Using ladder stabilizers to prevent tipping.
Avoiding overreaching while on the ladder.
6. Roof Anchors and Rope Systems
Roof anchors provide secure attachment points for harnesses and ropes, allowing roofers to move freely while remaining tethered. Rope systems, such as lifelines, ensure roofers are always connected to an anchor point, even when transitioning between areas.
Training and Education for Roofing Safety
While equipment plays a significant role in fall prevention, training is equally important. Roofers undergo regular safety training to:
Understand the risks associated with working at heights.
Learn proper equipment usage and maintenance.
Recognize hazards like weak roof areas or adverse weather conditions.
Practice emergency response procedures.
Safety training also includes education on OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) guidelines, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
The Role of Planning and Preparation
Roofers don’t just show up and start working—they plan their projects meticulously to reduce risks. Here’s how:
Site Inspections: Before work begins, roofers assess the roof for hazards such as unstable surfaces, loose shingles, or water damage.
Weather Monitoring: Rain, ice, or high winds can create unsafe conditions. Roofers often delay work during inclement weather to avoid unnecessary risks.
Tool and Equipment Checks: Regular inspections of ladders, harnesses, and other tools ensure everything is in working order.
Additional Tips for Roofer Safety
For roofers, attention to detail can mean the difference between safety and an accident. Here are some additional best practices:
Work in Teams: Having a spotter or co-worker nearby increases safety and allows for quick assistance in case of emergencies.
Keep the Work Area Clean: A clutter-free workspace minimizes tripping hazards and makes it easier to navigate the roof.
Hydration and Breaks: Staying hydrated and taking breaks helps roofers stay alert and reduces the likelihood of fatigue-related accidents.
Use Visual Markings: Brightly colored markers or tape can indicate areas to avoid, such as weak spots or edges.
Common Challenges Roofers Face
While roofers take extensive precautions, challenges can still arise, such as:
Unpredictable Weather: Sudden changes in weather conditions can make even the safest roof dangerous.
Unstable Roof Structures: Older buildings may have weak spots that aren’t immediately visible.
Fatigue: Long hours in the sun can lead to exhaustion, which can affect concentration and reaction times.
Overcoming these challenges requires a combination of vigilance, teamwork, and adherence to safety protocols.
How You Can Ensure Safe Roofing Projects
If you're planning a roofing project in Omaha, hiring professionals who prioritize safety is essential. A reputable roofing contractor will have the training, equipment, and experience needed to complete the job without compromising safety. When hiring a contractor, consider asking:
Do they follow OSHA safety guidelines?
What fall protection measures do they use?
How do they train their team for safety?
Conclusion
Roofing is a demanding profession that requires a combination of skill, equipment, and strict safety protocols to prevent falls. From using personal protective equipment to implementing guardrails and training, roofers go to great lengths to stay safe while working at heights.
If you're in Omaha and need roofing services, ensure your project is in the hands of a contractor who prioritizes safety. Contact our Omaha roofing contractor today to discuss your needs and experience roofing solutions built on expertise and care.

Highline Harness: A Complete Guide for Safety and Adventure Enthusiasts
Introduction to Highline Harness
A Highline Harness is an essential piece of safety gear used primarily in highlining — a thrilling sport where individuals walk or balance on a tensioned line suspended high above the ground, often between cliffs, canyons, or tall structures. Unlike standard climbing or slackline harnesses, highline harnesses are designed with enhanced comfort, durability, and fall protection, making them ideal for both recreational and professional use.
What is a Highline Harness?
A highline harness is a wearable safety device that supports the body during highline activities. It is engineered to distribute weight evenly, provide ergonomic support, and reduce pressure during falls. Key features typically include:
Padded leg loops and waist belt
Reinforced tie-in points
Extra gear loops for attachments
Compatibility with leash rings, backup tethers, and chest harnesses
It differs from regular harnesses in that it must accommodate extreme tension forces and extended hanging durations, especially in rescue or fall scenarios.
Key Features of a Quality Highline Harness
When selecting a highline harness, it’s crucial to consider the following features for performance and safety:
1. Fall Arrest System
Highline harnesses should be rated for dynamic loads, ensuring they can absorb the energy of a sudden fall without injury.
2. Comfort-Oriented Design
Given the time spent in the harness while rigging, balancing, or recovering from falls, padding and anatomical shaping are essential.
3. Reinforced Construction
Durable stitching and high-quality materials like nylon and DyneemaÂŽ ensure resistance to wear and tear in rugged outdoor environments.
4. Multiple Adjustment Points
Look for adjustable buckles at the waist and legs to ensure a snug yet flexible fit.
5. Backup Connection Points
Safety redundancy is vital. A highline harness should feature additional loops for backup leashes or secondary safety systems.
Applications of Highline Harnesses
The use of highline harnesses extends beyond highlining alone. They are also employed in:
Slacklining over heights (urban highlining or "skywalking")
Aerial performance and stunt work
Rescue operations in challenging terrains
Technical rigging and rope access work
Their design prioritizes both safety and comfort, making them versatile for high-angle activities.
Benefits of Using a Highline Harness
✅ Enhanced Safety: Reduces the risk of injury during falls with energy-dispersing design.
✅ Freedom of Movement: Allows fluid motion while ensuring the user remains securely tethered.
✅ Long-Wear Comfort: Padded zones minimize discomfort during extended use.
✅ Gear Accessibility: Loops and clips make it easy to carry essential tools and accessories.
Tips for Choosing the Right Highline Harness
Check Safety Certifications – Always ensure the harness meets international safety standards like UIAA or CE.
Try Before Buying – Fit and comfort vary between brands and models.
Evaluate for Specific Use – Some harnesses are optimized for performance, while others are tailored for rescue or rigging.
Weight Considerations – Choose lightweight models for longer walks or portable setups.
Maintenance & Care Guidelines
Proper maintenance extends the lifespan and reliability of your highline harness:
🌞 Avoid prolonged sun exposure
💧 Keep dry and store in cool conditions
🧼 Clean with mild soap and water, air dry only
🔍 Inspect regularly for wear, frays, or damaged stitching
Never use a harness that has sustained a major fall impact unless thoroughly inspected by a professional.

Finding the right equipment for pets is more than just a matter of convenience—it’s a matter of safety and control. A trusted Dog Leash Supplier provides more than just basic tethers; they deliver thoughtfully engineered products that accommodate various dog breeds, sizes, and behaviors.
As pet ownership grows globally, so does the demand for reliable and high-quality leashes. Whether you’re training a puppy or walking an energetic adult dog, the type of leash you choose can make a significant impact on both comfort and control.
Built with Function and Comfort in Mind
Dog leashes today come in a wide range of styles: standard flat leashes, retractable types, slip leads, and even hands-free designs for joggers. A professional supplier offers not just variety, but also functionality that matches real-life pet routines. Many leashes now feature soft, padded handles to reduce strain on the hand during long walks, as well as reflective stitching to enhance safety during low-light conditions.
Durability is equally important. Leashes made from high-density nylon or reinforced materials ensure long-term use without fraying or breaking under tension. Metal clips and D-rings are often tested for strength, making them suitable for everything from small terriers to large, muscular breeds.
Meeting the Needs of Modern Pet Owners
Modern dog owners are also seeking aesthetic value. A competent supplier pays attention to both fashion and function, offering leashes in a variety of colors, patterns, and matching sets with collars or harnesses. Some even include attachments for waste bag dispensers or multifunctional pockets for treats.
Pet owners today are more informed and selective, which is why suppliers need to provide clear information about material choices, usage tips, and compatibility with collars and harnesses. As a result, the leash has evolved from a simple accessory into an important part of pet lifestyle gear.
