Like did Link have regrets and probably some buried resentment for Zelda due to associating her with the events of oot, if mm and tp are anything to go by? Yeah. But let's not pretend that adult timeline Zelda didn't help Mr Kid in an Adult's Body Getting Brothel Jokes Made at Him dodge a fucking bullet. And child timeline Zelda's plan only fell apart because Rauru is an idiot.
You know what's worse than seeing some dudebro blaming OOT Zelda for "ruining Link's life"?
A "Zelink shipper" saying the same thing.
It's like being stabbed in the back lmao
I think not everyone understands her character:(
#i mean she is a war criminal see tp but she didnt fuck up links life#if we're blaming anyone other than ganondorf for that tragedy i say we look to rauru 'sealed you for 7 years' sage of fucking bullshit#that or navi for fucking abandoning him without a word cause THAT DIDN'T HELP#i dont even go to oot zelink but like jesus#leave my war criminal daughter alone she is not responsible for links trauma#i maintain that technically they could've beaten ganondorf by giving him all the gems and the ocarina of time#like yeah let ganondorf try to pull the master sword see how well that works out for him#i think the second link got some sex ed he was like 'ohhhhhh'#'yeah ok I had my support system ripped away from me but also I would've been extremely vulnerable if I'd stayed'#meanwhile adult timeline zelda never found out that link wasnt a kokiri and is just#'well my eternal child friend is back in his eternal childhood where he belongs'#'i am sad about this but like look at canon Nabooru instead of fanon Nabooru and tell me letting him stay was a good idea'#link goes through the majoras mask stone tower and works through his shit re zelda too like thats the whole point of that dungeon#Navi it is not a good look for you that the best possible light we can put you in is you abandoned link to go die somewhere else like a cat#but for everything else#like the dungeons and stuff#i think thats only part of links trauma because the kid had absolutely no support system#his tree dad is dead the only kokiri that likes him is saria#everyone in castle town is a fucking dick and even beyond that the kid has no stable adult in his life#hell the first time he gets hugged is in majoras mask which is debatably not even reality#you look me in the eye and tell me the kid raised by a tree and bullied his whole life has ever been hugged#link is a child who was raised living in a house by himself with a guardian who could not#bandage his scuffed knees hug him when he was scared care for him when he was sick or any#of the other five million things you gotta do with your kid to make sure they grow up halfway well adjusted#hell in the manga hes more attentive but if youre just going by the game the deku tree doesnt even talk to the kids all that often#kid was always going to have issues regardless of if zelda was present in his life at all#link was fucked the second his mom took him to the creepy forest where all who enter meet a fate worse than death#if he had a support system the whole game he would've been at least mostly fine#which you know#closest he's got is fucking zelda

He Becomes a Dad! || Part 1/2
PART 2
Pairing: Time, Four, Legend, Hyrule x Reader
Overview: Congratulations, you're new parents đ Some of the Links are prepared. Others...might need a moment to gather themselves. But rest assured! At the end of the day, they're all going to get a handle on this whole dad thing. I'm a sucker for family tropes and there simply aren't enough out there for the Chain to quench my thirst, so here it is, I'm adding my contributionđ Btw, there will be only two parts for this prompt since Wind will be excluded for obvious reasons. Baby making isn't a platonic activityđ¤ˇââď¸
Zelda Masterlist đŠľFandom Masterlist
You only brought the topic of children up to your husband once. It was at some point during the early half of your marriage and after a particularly lengthy day of enduring Malonâs well-meant pestering. Time, beside being caught slightly off guard, delivered a straightforward answer:
âIt wouldnât feel right bringing kids into this world, especially when I would hardly be home to help you rear them.â
Now, you canât lie and say you werenât at all disappointed by this answer, although you wouldnât say you had the rug completely pulled from beneath you. You understood the true implications behind Timeâs statement right away. Itâs the same reason he took so long to let himself marry you. Itâs not you nor a disgust towards children, but rather an unspoken fear of building a life where heâs too happy - one that could be ripped away from him at a momentâs notice as has seemed to be the case for his younger years.
Although his worries are needless, you never pushed against his boundaries because you could at least see the sense in his argument. Sure, the idea of having children did always appeal to you deep down, however between Timeâs constant traveling and your hard work helping at Lon Lon Ranch, it would be difficult to squeeze a family into the schedule. There was no sense in forcing him into a commitment he wasnât ready for nor one you werenât in a position to properly foster.
Twelve years of blissful marriage passed before your plans changed. The blame lies with those other heroes, too. One would think traveling alongside a group of unruly young boys wouldâve made someone more certain of their decision to never again subject themselves to such a headache, yet it apparently had the opposite effect on your dear husband.
Discovering first hand how much pride he could feel towards a descendant was life-altering, to put it light. Twilight was living proof that somewhere along the line, Time does something right. Whatever kids he might have will grow up to have children of their own and so onâŚNot to mention Twilight isnât a terrible outcome by any means. To raise someone with the possibility of them turning out like him and to do so with you of all people? Well, needless to say, it was settled rather quickly after that: Time wanted kids.
Call it baby-fever if you will, but he was suddenly rather eager about the concept he had once avoided like the plague. He brought it up through not-so-subtly hints at first, then when you outright asked him if he was being serious, he went on a slightly nervous spew about your home being too quiet and how he could officially retire from traveling to be home more and itâs really a shame that you have an extra bedroom just sitting around - You just had to kiss him to shut him up which eventually led toâŚother things. Letâs just say you both got started right away.
It took you twelve years to realize you did indeed want kids yet less than a year to actually be holding them for the first time. It turns out even the universe was impatiently waiting for you both to come to your senses, so once you finally had, it decided to award you with not one, but two beautiful girls whom you affectionately named Saria after Timeâs old friend and Mallory, a mix between melody and Malon, their ever-so-excited godmother. Â
Itâs safe to say that the twins are pretty spoiled. Malon has been over almost everyday, bringing you plenty of baked goods as a bribe to let her spend more time with her favorite goddaughters and you have practically every baby related item that you could need, courtesy of the Queen of Hyrule herself, but of course, itâs their parents who love them the most.
Never in his wildest dreams did Time think it would be possible to feel so at peace with the life heâs built. For so many years, he feared true happiness was impossible - that every turn would result in the same cruel fate he had been subjected to during most of his existence - and yet for the last couple of nights, heâs held it in his arms. Heâs watched the moon rise outside his window while playing soft lullabies on his ocarina, you cuddled by his side with your daughters shared between you both. You wear a small smile even in sleep and he swears the girls match it, too; he definitely does himselfâŚThis is a priceless treasure heâll give his life to protect.
Four and you had already been married for a few years by the time you found out youâre pregnant. Itâs not to say you were actively planning for it, although you also werenât actively trying not to either.Â
It had been agreed upon early in your relationship that kids would be nice should they come your way, therefore you were both equally excited that your wishes were finally being granted, so much so that the nursery was finished within the first month (courtesy of your handy husband). Itâs painted in beautiful pastels that are easy on the eyes and decorated with many toys Four had hand-carved himself; a useful craft heâs now very appreciative towards Sky for teaching him.
Seeing as this was already a somewhat anticipated next step in your lives, Fourâs pretty relaxed throughout the process despite its many challenges. For starters, pregnancy itself unfortunately isn't as much of a 'blessing' for you as some have made it sound. Youâre rather sick from beginning to end. If it isn't your inability to keep food down (especially in the early stages) or your fluctuating blood pressure, then itâs the aching you constantly feel thanks to both your very heavy bump and extremely active baby who just loves to make sure you never forgot about their existence by kicking you as hard as possible day and night.Â
Worry not. Four has made your struggles more bearable by being a darling husband through and through. Heâs by your side during each doctorâs visit, does his own personal research on all things baby-related, and helps with every chore he can to give you at least some rest even if just for a quick nap, however most spectacularly, he does all of this without ever being too overbearing.Â
Although certainly concerned for your health, Four can recognize your strength any day of the week, especially when you've been rolling with the punches like a warrior queen during such a draining pregnancy. Anxious, sure, but not afraid. Why would he be? Heâs confident that youâre both prepared to face anything together! âŚThat is, until you actually went into laborâŚ
Yeah, remember that previously mentioned, relaxed and darling husband? Forget about him. Your water broke and so did Four's calm demeanor, but can he really be blamed? You went into labor early - and not just by a couple of days either. Oh no, we're talking a couple of weeks early.Â
Regardless of his newfound fear, Four does his utmost best to still present himself as calm and collected in front of you, not wanting to freak you out any more than youâre already freaking out yourself. He first helped you lay down with plenty of pillows and cushions before running to get help. After that, he doesnât leave your side, encouraging you throughout the process with a smile on his face, however donât be fooled: the second you turn your head to the midwifeâs voice or close your eyes to scream, your poor husbandâs face reflects his inner thoughts as the situation fully begins to sink in. 'Scared shitless' - that's a good word to describe it; eyes wide in terror with a mouth thatâs hung agape and slightly twisted in pain as your nails clawed into his hand.
As said, he never leaves your side - not even for a millisecond. You donât have to worry about him being the type of guy to get grossed out by natural fluids or complain about your expressions of pain; none of that is remotely a concern of his. Heâs just grateful to see you okay and even more so to hear his baby crying as they should.
A girl; small like her daddy, but healthy all things considered. Four couldn't wait to hold her, knowing damn well he was going to cry the second her soft skin touched his, but he isnât ashamed of it in the slightest. Who wouldnât cry holding something so precious?
Then you scream again. He thinks something must be wrong until the midwife announces that it isnât over - that there are more squeezed in there waiting.
At the end of the day, you're just relieved to finally breathe easy without going through agonizing pain while Four, on the other hand, is left in shock staring at not one, not two, but three little babies, all healthy girls who wiggle and whimper in their parents' arms, but oh well. The nursery may have to be expanded, although there's plenty of love to go around. At least he can thank Hylia that it wasnât quads (he's had enough of those).
Legend and you have been in a relationship for several years, although you had mutually agreed earlier on that neither of you were big fans of the whole 'marriage' thing. What difference would a ceremony and piece of paper make, anyway? You already act as any officially married couple would. You live together, go on dates, occasionally argue, and even share a bed which is exactly what resulted in a recent, unplanned detour in your lives: a baby.
When you first told Legend the news, he panicked, asking himself all those stupid questions like âwhat nowâ and âhow could this have happenedâ even though he knew damn well how. Then he left. Giving some half-assed excuse about needing fresh air, he turned his back to you despite your pleas and didnât return for hours.Â
Now, rest assured, he did immediately regret having that reaction and apologized for it as soon as he came home. He didnât mean to scare you with the thought of abandonment, but as he would quietly confess during his apology, the thought of being a parent had just been too overwhelming in the moment. Neither of you had ever talked about having kids, and while he could at least have some peace of mind knowing youâll obviously be a great mom, he fears that the same wonât be applied to him.
You have always been the light in a dim room, as Legend would put it. Youâre fun, sweet, and amazing with kids. Any child of yours, planned or not, will love you with all of their heart exactly as he does. Meanwhile heâs stubborn, cranky, and the last kid to cross his path literally started sobbing. Maybe it had to do with him being covered in monster blood after just having crawled out of a dungeon but heâs pretty sure he traumatized a kid nonethelessâŚThe thought of being just as bad around any kid you share together scares the crap out of him.
Deep, deep down, Legendâs actually somewhat excited to be a father. Although heâs too stubborn to admit it to anyone other than you, heâll sometimes daydream about how nice it would be to tell a little replica of you both about all his adventures or to teach them how to use some of the items heâs collected over the years like his trusty boomerang. Seeing the excitement in their eyes would definitely be worth listening to you scold him afterwards. If thatâs all there was to being a father, Legend wouldnât have a single concern, yet itâs his insecurities that always have a habit of souring things. Would his kid actually find his stories cool or would they just be tempted to throw the boomerang right at his head?
Youâve done your best to reassure him, often falling back on the argument that the baby will be a part of him. Like father, like son, right? Legend was almost ready to believe you, too, especially upon laying eyes on his child for the first time. As you passed the tiny bundle over to him, he thought that maybe being a dad wasnât going to be that scary after all, and it might not be so bad to even have more someday eitherâŚHowever, his worries were quick to return when the baby started screaming two seconds after being set into his armsâŚ
Baby screams if he holds him. Baby whimpers if he looks at him for too long. Sometimes, Legend swears the thing starts crying simply by hearing his voice in another room. It doesnât happen with anyone else, though. The baby just adores you as predicted, but what Legend canât stand is the fact that the baby seems to like Ravio, of all annoyances, over his own dad.
Heâs forced to watch as the little brat happily lets Ravio cradle him, the sight filling him with bitter jealousy and sorrow. Youâre convinced that heâs just overthinking everything - that he should give himself time to adjust to his new position as a father instead of holding himself to unrealistic standards, but how long is he exactly supposed to wait until it clicks? Itâs been a whole month already and he still feels as confused as day one! Will he ever get the hang of this whole dad-thing or is he a lost causeâŚ?
If thereâs any comfort Legend can have, itâs that even Ravio doesnât know what to do with the baby once he starts crying, so at least heâs not alone in that aspect. The only problem is youâre busy making lunch and stubbornly refuse to pause your efforts. Instead, you shove a bottle over to Legend, insisting that he be the one to feed his son since it should be a âgood bonding exerciseâ for them. You wonât take ânoâ for an answer and judging on your glare when he tries to protest, you probably wouldnât be happy if he tries passing the task onto Ravio either.
Thus, Legend is left to awkwardly sit down and take the baby into his arms. He already knows itâs obvious he has no idea what heâs doing, Ravio doesnât have to point it out, but luckily after some swift around, he manages to hold his son more securely against his chest before shoving the bottle in his face. The baby continues to fuss while turning his head away from the bottle, and Legendâs almost tempted to call for you in defeat until at last, the room falls silent.
Looking down, he watches in quiet awe as his son accepts his meal eagerly. His little hands quickly rise up, gripping onto Legendâs which holds the bottle in place. Theyâre so tiny; barely able to wrap around a single finger - Oh, and his eyes as well! Theyâre wide as he stares up at his dad with unbroken eye contact. Itâs like a wordless conversation - one more valuable than any heâs heard before.
You return, offering to take your son now that your work is done, but Legend is quick to shake his head. Why donât you take a well-deserved break while he handles this little troublemaker? It would be a shame to bother him when he looks so comfortable in daddyâs arms.
You've been dating Hyrule for longer than either of you can really remember, however you arenât in any big rush to get married, figuring that it would make no real difference in your commitment to each other. You love Hyrule and he loves you. What more is there to say? For a while there, you were both perfectly satisfied with simply taking things slow and letting fate decide your course, although more recently youâve had to switch up that method to something more stable for the baby. Yes, a baby.
You wouldnât necessarily call it a surprise, but you also canât truthfully say it was planned either. You had agreed that kids might be nice if the goddesses ever blessed you with any in the future, however you werenât exactly trying for themâŚYou just werenât being very carefulâŚ
Hyrule must admit he was rather nervous at the start. The only prior experience he really had around kids was with Wind, but thereâs a pretty big difference between a young teen and newborn. Pair that with his not so âkid-friendlyâ world and thereâs plenty to worry over. Anything could happen, but Hyruleâs determined to be the best dad and partner he can.
First thing was first, of course: you needed a place to stay. Traveling is fun and you both enjoy being on the move, but thatâs no life for a baby. Hyrule and you had actually already considered the idea of settling down someplace before, so you didnât think of it as a massive loss to take off your adventure boots for a while. If anything, it was a welcomed change once you remembered how lovely it is to be able to kick your feet up for a rest or be surrounded by warmth during a terrible rainstorm.
Again, Hyrule takes his job as your partner very seriously which wasnât ever a surprise to you. He found a small house for you both to rent in one of the safer villages around; a perfect place for raising a child. While he might not have a talent for decorating or making a place feel âhomeyâ, he does thrive when it comes to making sure youâre comfortable, his spare rupees definitely going to fluffy wool blankets and a rickety rocking chair that he saw at a market.
Early on in the pregnancy, you noticed that your boyfriend also began showing a new found determination for cooking which did scare you a bit at first - Okay, so maybe a lot. Hyrule began taking cooking lessons from some kind elderly ladies in town who must have an endless pool of patience because while you canât say every dish is a masterpiece (or even editable for that matter), you are happy to say Hyrule can now make things like toast and tomato soup successfully. Itâs progress.
There arenât a ton of doctors in your time and none in your village, so you have to take a lot of notes from local women regarding the process. Hearing all their stories and the possible âwhat ifâs for what could go wrong made you anxious, especially once you finally go into labor, but it doesnât faze Hyrule - not on the outside, anyway. He does an excellent job of swallowing his own fears for your peace of mind, talking you through each painful contraction and doing his best to distract you from it all until it comes time to start pushing.
Some people may get squeamish at the thought of childbirth, however Hyrule isnât one of them. Heâs fought through some terrifying dungeons and has bore witness to more than a few gory injuries over the years, so bodily fluids donât bother him one bit. Heâs kneeled down right in front of you without a secondâs hesitation, multitasking between mentally reviewing what heâs been told to do and reassuring you even though heâs sure you donât hear a word of it over your own screams.
One minute Hyruleâs encouraging you to keep pushing, the next heâs holding a small, crying baby in his arms. His movements after that feel almost automatic as he carefully cleans her off and just admires the fact that this baby - this tiny, precious gift of life is his. Sheâs yours and his and sheâs beautiful despite having come into existence within such a broken world filled with more hardships than he could countâŚ
Your tired voice brings him back to reality - asking if the baby you hear crying is okay. You clearly feel the same thing Hyrule does upon seeing your daughter for the first time, the two of you sitting side-by-side as you soak in this wonderful emotion. Hope...Thatâs what she represents. Hope for a brighter future...

Think about how Saria spent years in betrayal and anger, driven for justice, searching out all of Rhine Labâs wrongdoings, developing her philosophy on what science is for, all to right the course of the thing she build together with Kristen, who she dedicated her life to.
Kristen, the child of her idols. Kristen, her first love. Kristen, who she promised to protect.
Kristen, who betrayed her.
Kristen, who took advantage of her devotion.
Kristen, who designed a weapon against her, against the formula they came up with together.
Kristen, who is harming the very people they set out together to serve.
Kristen, who sheâll judge and bring back to the right path.
Kristen, who she never fully understood.
Kristen, whose plans she needs to stop. Kristen, who might bring the whole world tumbling down as she achieves her dream.
Kristen, who she slowly realizes is going to die in pursuit of her dream, just like her parents.
She tanks an anti-tank weapon to the head. She fights against an ancient caster and warrior. She fights the very people she trained, the knights that protect and serve Kristen. She saves her kid, finally. She learns to rely on others, to communicate. She reconciles with her partner. She flies a plane up, up into the upper atmosphere (just like the Wrights), through a combat zone, and docks it on a moving station. She learns to let go of her careful control of her every move, to act spontaneously, decisively.
All this to reach Kristen. To stop her.
But when she finally meets her⌠Thatâs her childhood friend. Her first love.
She fights her, endures her power, one last time, taking step by painful step toward her. She tells her sheâs wrong about science, shares the philosophy and perspective sheâs built over the years to stop her from harming people, to fight the culture that birthed them.
But really, sheâs trying to talk Kristen down. You were wrong to do this. Give it up. Your dream is beautiful. Come with me. You finally achieved your parentsâ dream. We can still survive this. I donât doubt that this will affect the entire world. Watch it with me. I can still save you. The escape pods are gone? Iâll calcify us togetherâuse the arts we developed togetherâand weâll fall together; maybe weâll survive, maybe we wonât. Iâll do everything I can, even if itâs doomed. Let me save you. Please. Please let me protect you.
And Kristen, who never lost faith in her, who knew Saria would reach her, who always wanted to share the truth, her moment of triumph, the fate she had chosen for herself with the woman she loves, who knew Saria would never leave her by choice and installed a trapdoor in her dreamerâs space pod so that she could live on⌠presses the button.
And Saria, after her long, long climb, falls. The final stage of the rocket to Kristenâs dream, falling away.
What must it be like, as she fell, to realize she spent her whole life helping Kristen assemble her space program? That when Kristen used to look up at the stars, she was not just seeing the past, her parentsâ deaths, the legacy she has to uphold; she was seeing this future she had always planned for herself. That this was always the wish that Saria devoted herself to protecting.
And she kept her promise.
#iâve been crying for like 18 hours now#and Iâm not sure what Iâm more worried about.#the possibility that I wonât stop.#or the possibility that I will.#i donât know what to do with these feelings.#arknights#lone trail#kristen wright#saria

I want to know your LU headcanons!
ohHO i will absolutely tell you tysm for asking!! iâve been wanting to talk abt them for ages but just never got around to it ig ahjdkcka
Timeâs actually like 32 and is just really committed to the bit of being ancient
Sky is horrific at making new friends. he grew up with the same small group of people, so he never learned how to make friends with complete strangers because there simply wasnât the need to. so, when he first starts traveling with the chain, he makes little wooden charms for them because he isnât entirely sure how else to get close with them. Zelda always enjoyed his woodcarvings, so maybe they will too??
as a result, the entire chain has little trinkets made by Sky. on Legendâs bag thereâs charms hanging off the straps, and Twilight wears his as necklaces (both because it looks cool as fuck and it helps the shadow crystal stand out less). yes Wind has specifically commissioned him to make something for Aryll
yeah yeah bunny Legend but consider: the mermaid suit (which I like to think is more of a curse bc get fished pink man <3) giving him some marine animal qualities as well. no matter what tho that bitch is an Ariel kinnie, theyâre collecting all the shiny shit they can find
Sky is obsessed with doing puzzles the Right and Proper way, meanwhile Wild cheeses absolutely everything he can
Wind believes in all of those classic pirate superstitions
the witches in Legendâs era adore him. Grandma Syrup dotes on him, Maple is like a teasing older sister, and Irene is like a teasing younger sister. this is where he learned most of his magic skills from, and he takes all potentially enchanted or cursed items to them to check out. heâll never admit it, but Legend finds lots of comfort in all of them, as theyâre one of the few people whoâve stayed in his life this long.
Wildâs a pretty good medic!! during his adventure, he very quickly realized how dangerous infection is, so they learned about a lot of home remedies and medicinal herbs, as well as how to tend to a wound from other travelers at stables and inns. he didnât really get a choice in learning, considering how he probably got stung or bit by painful insects or accidentally brushed up against painful plants a lot during the early days of their adventure, and thus showed up to stables covered in rashes and hives and such, causing every decent person in the area to flock to them and try to help. their Hyrule is very sweet, okay?
theyâre not the only one whoâs well acquainted with medicinal herbs, though! while I think all of them would have a basic understanding, Time, Hyrule, Warriors, and Wind would know a lot. dw iâm elaborating
Time quite literally grew up in the forest, was raised by a tree, and had actual forest spirits for siblingsâhe knows his plants. he and Saria would peel willow bark and collect dandelions together
I like to think that Hyrule being half-fae makes him very sensitive to all magic-based auras, including that of plants, so theyâre very good at picking out the healing herbs, even if theyâre not quite sure what theyâre called
listen ok hear me out about Warriors. young Time was appalled that he knew jackshit about nature and forcefully taught him. also, before modern medicine, medicinal plants were used all the fucking time on the battle field. yarrow, an herb that stops bleeding and prevents infection, is called soldiersâ woundwort because of this. i mention this because he was probably concerned about the health and safety of his troops, so he learned what the medics were doing and using.
Wind grew up on a small, tight-knit island, realistically they wouldâve had to have learned how to use the things around them to their fullest advantage. that being said, his knowledge is sort of useless outside of his own era, aside from what he was taught in the war. ok iâm done talking about medicinal herbs now i promise sorry itâs a hobby of mine ahhsjdka
Legendâs terrified of dogs. in Linkâs Awakening, the dogs are literally balls on chains with huge mouths full of sharp teeth (basically just Chain Chomps). if you want to get angsty with it: it comes from guard dogs being sent after him on his first adventure. he became a lot less scared to more he spent time with BowBow (the ball and chain dog) but, when he woke up, he got the belief that he could only be safe around a dog in his dreams. heâs pretty damn uncomfortable around Wolfie at first, but after lots of time and learning to trust Twilight, heâs able to slowly overcome his fear. sort of. mostly just with Wolfie. he still hates staying at stables in Wildâs Hyrule.
if Wild doesnât want to explain/source something heâll just say it came to him via divine intervention. Sky believes it every single time
I was thinking about Legendâs story a while ago and realized it was kind of similar to Joan of Arcâs so take that as you will. idk if this even counts as a headcanon but iâm putting it here
Warriors and Twilight are really close friends because they both understand the struggles of wrangling dirt worshipping nature freaks. anytime Twilight (lovingly) complains about Wild, Wars will counter with whatever asinine feral child antics young Time got up to and suddenly Twi will feel very blessed and lucky
whenever Four sees someone with their hair in a high ponytail he subconsciously thinks theyâre very smart and respectable because Dot always wears her hair in a high ponytail
Hyrule is completely fine with not sleeping on a bedroll. they like the dirt, actually. let them sleep in the dirt.
Legend uses apples in his red potions, both to increase their potency and to make them taste better. he also learned how to enchant apples to be healing on their own so sometimes when someoneâs hurt heâll just shove an apple in their face
uhh so ik this is a lot but this isnât even close to of all my headcanons so yeah thereâs that lmao
#i saved yâall from my angstier headcanons btw. and also my magic system headcanons. be grateful /lh#i also restricted myself from telling yâall the queer headcanons bc thereâs so many ppl posting theirs rn that i donât rlly feel the need to#i have so many thoughts abt these guys itâs almost humiliating#linked universe#lu#linkeduniverse#lu headcanons#linked universe headcanons#sorry for any typos or if things are worded weirdly i ran out of my adhd meds and also lost my glasses so#iâm trying my best ok#ALSO AGAIN TY STORMY FOR ASKING <333#i do rlly appreciate it tyyy <3

Here is the menace with your chosen word Farewell. So gather 'round, sit back, relax and please stay in your seat. Kick your feet up and grab some popcorn. Oh, and of course, lest we not forget, enjoy the show.
Now here is a Reader, that one of the boys is looking for, what seems like for millennias. This is Navi!Reader.
Instead of Navi, Time called them Reader.
They have blue wings and they change colour depending on their emotions.
Their glow also changes it's colour depending on their emotion.
Red is anger/ worried.
Yellow is focused/ determined.
Green is happy/ sick (like when you spin to often).
White is fear.
Blue is calm.
Pink is embarrassed/ flustered.
With that they are one of the very few fairies that doesn't have white wings and glow pink. And now the only one.
Beneath the light Reader wears a blue toga with green ends and a Sakura petal pattern, that petals đ¸, with golden a vein-like belt and pair of shoes, which looks more like an accessory than shoes.
They are the last fairy of the Kokiri and knows what happened to them.
They also saw how the Kroks came to life.
They hide inside the Deku Tree since they left Time as a child.
Sage found them as he slept inside the Deku Tree, since then he always has them around.
They call him "my little Zonai".
He knows that they went through something horrible and they told him about the time travels, the Kokiri, the Kroks. But they left Time out, as he maybe wanted to keep his privacy.
They feel incredibly guilty for leaving Time behind, but they had to.
If they wouldn't come back to the Deku Tree after their purpose was fulfilled they would've died in Time's hands.
I'd like to believe that Reader is Time's first love. He only got along with Saria for as long as he can remember, but then there comes Reader. His very own Fairy the very thing that caused him of being an outcast as he didn't had one.
Since then Reader was with him, nevermind if it was underwater or in a volcano. Reader was by his side and is the only one who REALLY knows how Time feels as they also got kicked back in time before Ganondorf attacked.
Reader was his partner, friend and guide. They teached him how to hold the sword and shield properly. They told him about the monsters around him and how to kill them easily or their weaknesses or helped him focus by flying around the monster's weak points. So he can kill them easier or that his shot is more accurate.
As a fairy they are immortal as long as they have a purpose they don't die beyond the borders of the Lost Woods, if their purpose allows them to cross it.
They love sweets and kinda act like a hummingbird as they normally ate/ drank(?) sweet nectar from the forest flowers.
They are scared of Skulltulas and they got stuck in their webs a few times in the Forest Temple and the old Deku Tree.
Time was their very first friend and so they always hope that he lives a good life.
If anyone would've told them that he went into the Lost Woods to look for them. They would be happy and disappointed as they don't want him to hold onto them.
They were his mouth for the first instances as he was too overwhelmed with everything, from being destined to purge the evil to stepping outside of the forest. He was just shy at first as he never met adults so they talked for him until he got the courage to do it himself!
They call him "my Kokiri".
Their Song is "Airplanes" from BOB feat Hayley Williams and Eminem.
How they met/reunited.
Reader's PoV:
I flew around searching that idiot who put me in a bottle! I flew around and saw him, Link. I was seeing red and completely disregarded the group that was talking to him.
âYOU IDIOT LINK! I APPRECIATE YOUR CONCERN BUT DON'T PUT ME IN A BOTTLE!! I ALMOST DIED AS IT SHATTERED!! I AM IMMORTAL BUT THAT ONLY MEANS THAT I CAN'T DIE OF AGE NOT INJURIES!! YOU IDIOT! MORON!! FOOL!!!â I stomped with my foot the air in anger and he looked at me surprised and shocked.
âSorry? But how should I protect you?! You are a frail and tiny fairy!! I thought you are safe in there!!â
âI WAS WITH ONE HERO ALREADY!! I WAS WITH HIM THROUGH HIS WHOLE JOURNEY!!! I KNOW, HOW TO DODGE ATTACKS AND AVOID MONSTERS!!! I DID IT MULTIPLE TIMES!! YES, I'M SMALL BUT DOESN'T MEAN I'M HELPLESS, LINK!!!â I screamed at him but he didn't budge.
âBut you don't know how the monsters here are you hid inside the Deku Tree for millennias! You saw more of the changes of Hyrule than all of Hyrule together! And You where only inside the Lost Woods! In your little house!!â
âUhm... Excuse me?â Our heads snap to the interrupting Hylian and screamed unison.
âWHAT?! DON'T JUST INTERRUPT OUR CONVERSATION!!â but the Hylian just looked at me.
âReader, is that you?â he came nearer to us.
âThat's my name how do you know... Wait a minute...â I flew around him and his eyes looked so hopeful and scared at the same time.
But this sparkles in his eyes as he looked at me. I immediately knew who it was and hugged his cheek.
âLink?! The little Link!? My Kokiri!!â he held his hands carefully around me, in fear to hurt me or that I will disappear any second.
âReader it's really you! I thought, I will never see you again!â
âMe neither. As my purpose was fulfilled, I had to go back to the Woods or I would've died in your little hands and I didn't want that! So how have you been? You look so tall compared from the last time I saw you and I see you have sons! Many of them.â one of the hero's children spit out his water or whatever he was drinking and was coughing roughly.
âThey are not my children, Reader! Twilight is my descendant but the others aren't mine.â
âTwilight? You were never good with name giving were you?â I shook my head disapprovingly.
âIt's not like that! We all are called Link and Twilight is the Hero of Twilight that's why he has that nickname!â
âOhhh... Sorry, just thought as they look a bit like you, especially the young one, his eyes promise that he is a gremlin like you.â the man before me began to blush.
âStop that!â
âWait! You were with Time as he was child?â asked one of the boys, he had a white cape with the Master Sword on his back.
âWell, kind of. I heard much about him from other fairies but also witnessed it myself. I was with that little Kokiri since the beginning of his journey and travelled through time with him.â I looked at my now hero who looked shocked at me.
âYou never told me, you were the guide of the Hero of Time!â I tilted my head.
âWell, I wanted to respect Link's privacy and I was confused as I didn't know if you knew him as the Hero of Time or not. As we got send back in time and it was before Ganondorf tried to get the Triforce. So I didn't know how to explain that part very well. I'm really sorry, my little Zonai!â I flew towards the young man with difficulty as my Kokiri didn't want to let me go but he just hugged me.
âI'm not mad and never would be. You've been through so much so I forgive now come we have to go. Hyrule doesn't save itself.â he smiled something he did very rarely nowadays but it seem off like their was something sinister and possessive behind it. But my purpose was to travel with him and help him open his heart!
âOkay... See you again my Kokiri. I'm sure of it and it was a pleasure to met the other heroes and your descendant!â I waved with a green yellow glow before following my Zonai who walked away but I didn't see his smug smirk or the glare that Kokiri gave the Zonai.
After the Zonai defeated the Demon Dragon I was about to fly back to the Deku Tree as my purpose was fulfilled but Link put me into a bottle again.
âLink! Let Me Out!!â
âI can't do that you will leave me again!!â
âPlease! I have to go back to the Woods! You can visit me but please let me go!!!â I sounded desperate as I felt my strength dwindling.
âNO! I WANT YOU WITH ME!! YOU WERE WITH ME!!!â
âThis time you don't pack up and leave like back then Reader! I should have put you in a bottle back then.â My Kokiri... His voice sounded so stern...
My consciousness disappeared more and more that I would wake up and fall back in the black every now and then.
âReader...?â I didn't know who spoke but it was like I could hear the bottle opening but I already lied there on the bottom of the bottle I was to weak.
I only felt how I fell out of the bottle into a hand. âWoods... I... Need... To... The... Woods...â I whispered and suddenly I hear the two which normally fought the most running for their or my life.
Then I got snatched into the hand of another hero he gave me sugar water but that only kept me alive for a little while longer. Then he took of running again. He was definitely faster than the other two. But I didn't know if we could make it to the Lost Woods in time. Then I felt the familiar fog around me and I got my strength back.
âAh... You came back, my child of the past.â I sat up in the hands and looked at the Great Deku Tree.
âSorry... For the delay... Had some... Challenges to conquer...â I breathed in and out before turning to my hero, which was the Hero of Legends.
I kissed his cheek before circling around him. âThank you! You are my hero!! If you wouldn't got me here, I would have died!!â
He got little red in embarrassment as the heroes didn't get much gratitude and appreciation but he nodded. So I flew to the Deku Tree.
âPurpose fulfilled, Great Deku Tree. The evil was purged and the hero is save and sound with the princess! So mission was successfully accomplished!!â I said cheerfully.
âCan I ask something?â said the hero.
âOf course, young hero. What can I do for you?â
âIs it possible that Reader can come with us? They know more about the shadow than any of us. They just have to see him and know as what he is hiding. We really need that help.â
âI understand. Reader get the light.â
âReally but Deku Tree that should be kept hidden until the world needs it again!â I called out to him.
âI know young one, but you are the only being here old enough to use it and move. So your new task is to help this heroes with the light.â
âUnderstood, Deku Tree! I will go and get it!â I disappeared into the Deku Tree and up to the crown, where I found the Minish hiding like me.
I didn't have to say anything. The little creatures gave me the Force. It may be not as strong as the Triforce but its for use for the heroes. I hoped, that these two calmed down by now. The light disappeared into my body and my body lighten up as I grew. My wings were bigger same with my body. It was strange but my shine was now dimmer, that means they would be able to see my toga I HAVE NO UNDERWEAR!! Good, flying is now forbidden Reader!! I stepped out of the Deku Tree and only saw the heroes standing on the resting place of the Master Sword with their jaws dropped, wide eyes and red.
âSeems like you still have a guide my dear heroes. I'm Reader, your fairy guide! If you have any questions just ask away!â I said with a wink and a mock salute.
That's how they got Navi!Reader in their group until they fulfilled their task. But the Chain will find a way to keep them with the group until then. That's also the only Chain where Sage kinda listens to Time. Well, mostly because of Reader as Time was their partner in the past and they wouldn't be happy if they would fight. But as soon as all of them fall in love they will also notice that Reader doesn't fly as much as usual. Well as soon they find out the why, they are red with a nosebleed while Reader is screeching in embarrassment and explain that as a fairy they never needed things like underwear. Well, Wild hopes for a try again for his camera, Sage too. Wind wants them as his guide like Time, maybe with a little puppy crush. But at the end they try to solve the issue with the Triforce that Reader doesn't die when they leave the border of the Lost Woods. But Reader doesn't understand courting traditions from the Hylian as they are a Fairy. But Hyrule as a half Fae so he has more modern versions of Fairy courtship. So he is the only one who gets Reader to understand that they are being courted. But the others will see that and do the same, which confuses them dearly as it's a very sudden change in their opinion.
Navi!reader is an interesting concept, seeing as there is going to be one hero with a giant attachment to them first and foremost.
Time, if he gets the chance is never going to let them go ever. especially now that they have a more hylian form and can

Iris reborn. Zero vs Iris: A battle of pain
While on a Mission, X and Zero are informed about a female reploid or possible Maverick in a old abandoned building attacking High ranking Maverick hunters and rookie hunters. X and Zero are sent to investigate, the two decided to split up and look for this female reploid. Zero is the first to find her and is ready to fight, but to his shock and horror, the female reploid looks like Iris. A former navigator of X and Zero that was killed in the past due to unfortunate events caused by Sigma's trickery. Zero questions how this is possible, but pushes that thought to the back of his mind when Iris attacks, she seemingly has bitter memories of Zero and just views him as a killer and murderer who must die at all cost for hurting his friends and killing her and her brother the Colonel of Repliforce. So the two battle, both being evenly matched, during the fight Zero notes that she fights a lot like Colonel. So fighting this Iris look alike is easier for him since he knows how Colonel fights, the only hard part for him is that she is much faster than Colonel and as a result. Iris only feels hatred, sadness, trauma, angst towards Zero; Zero feels regret, remorse, and sorrow for what he did to Iris with tears in his eyes. As the battle goes on, Iris would just be flooded with hate from the memories of colonel and Iris, and would just take out all her frustrations on him, but because of what he did to Iris and colonel, he would be unable to actually fight back and all he'd be able to do is half-heartedly defend himself until she'd be standing over him. She would be about to do the killing blow, and Zero would accept his fate and says to Iris with tears still streaming down his face
"I can't blame you for hating me nor can I blame you for wanting to kill me. I put you through so much hell Iris. I want you know that I regret fighting and killing Colonel. I didn't want to but it happened. I understand that the World Government and the Maverick Hunters made so many assumptions and mistakes that we are willing to atone for and even change our ways. We can't keep killing maverick reploids. We only apprehend, bring them into custody, and give them a trial and prison sentence. The biggest regret I have was fighting and killing you Iris. All you wanted was to live a world for reploids: a planet for reploids where peace flourishes forever; however, your vision for a planet for reploids with peace forever excluded humans entirely and it was also denying humans the peace they desired as well. Humans and Reploids can coexist. You meant everything to me. You, X, Axl, Alia, Ciel, Ahsoka, Layer, Cinnamon, Massimo, Marino, Signas, Douglass, Lifesaver, Wave, Iron Horn, Dr. Cain, General Kaname, Seth, Saria, Cereavu, Joseph, Alie, Grey, Ashe, Vent, Nana, Layer, Pallete, Dancing Lotus, Guin, Harpuia, Fefnir, Phantom, Leviathan, Siren, Scilia, Synthia, Neige, Rico, Ice, and Via mean a lot to me. Iris...a day never went by when you died. I hated Sigma for everything he did and how he manipulated Repliforce into turning against the Government and the Hunters. I know these are just words but I really mean what I say. If you still want to kill me for what I did go ahead. I just want you to know that you are my light in the darkness, my blazing fire to my icy heart, the air I am breathing, and the strong shelter to my internal storm Iris. I love you Iris... I always have... I thought about you everyday... I wanted to be by your side, be there for when you needed me, and I promised your brother that I would look after you and take care of you as I look after and take care of X, Axl, Alia, Ciel, Ahsoka, Layer, Cinnamon, Massimo, Marino, Signas, Douglass, Lifesaver, Wave, Iron Horn, Dr. Cain, General Kaname, Seth, Saria, Cereavu, Joseph, Alie, Grey, Ashe, Vent, Nana, Layer, Pallete, Dancing Lotus, Guin, Harpuia, Fefnir, Phantom, Leviathan, Siren, Scilia, Synthia, Neige, Rico, Ice, and Via. I just wanted to know that Iris."
Hearing those words, Iris had tears streaming down her face too but she'd purposefully miss (colonel ending because colonel wouldn't lay down his weapon) and she'd drop her weapon and knows that killing Zero would bring her happiness nor would her brother approve, and he wouldn't be worth it(Iris ending because of compassion). Iris would grab Zero by his arm and pull him into a kiss of forgiveness and passion and replies "I forgive you Zero. I want to be with you forever too. I want be there for you and our friends, X, Axl, Alia, Ciel, Ahsoka, Layer, Cinnamon, Massimo, Marino, Signas, Douglass, Lifesaver, Wave, Iron Horn, Dr. Cain, General Kaname, Seth, Saria, Cereavu, Joseph, Alie, Grey, Ashe, Vent, Nana, Layer, Pallete, Dancing Lotus, Guin, Harpuia, Fefnir, Phantom, Leviathan, Siren, Scilia, Synthia, Neige, Rico, Ice, and Via. I love you too Zero." Iris and Zero continue kissing under the moonlight sky.

Ugh I was just thinking about the procession of game events with the chain, specifically Hyrule, and it gives me heartworms to imagine Guide playing his game as a child, and so that itâs just 2 children fighting against the world who only have each other, then they meet again as adults in the flesh and one of them immediately recognizes the other and seems to fall in love at first sightâŚ. Ugh what true love Im melting.
Conversely you apply this to other members like Time and Legend, who have had it rough and it quickly sours. Legend, who has someone who has been there through his worst times, always the same age and so they grow together but simultaneously grow apart due to circumstances beyond their control, and so he blames them for leaving him, a childhood friend that he canât trust to stay when he needs them. Itâs like the inverse to the Hyrule dynamic: a childhood love that curdled rather than bloomed.
And finally Time. God, Time, who already struggles with coming to terms with his own journeys and how they impacted his age, both mentally and physically in the sense that he and Guide started off together the same, as children, Time finally has another friend other than Navi or Saria, one that will also disappear like them but one day they come back, and⌠theyâre really much younger, a decade at most. And Time is suddenly in the position of no longer friend, rather guardian, protector, even a guardian figure. It distorts the relationship past what it initially was. So in conclusion youâve got: 1) a classic childhood friends to lovers plot that is sweet in its earnestness and simplicity. 2) a bitter rift between once friends, now strangers who have to learn to trust each other again. 3) a dynamic in which 2 people care for each other so much, but time and circumstances distort that relationship and suddenly one of them is wiser, more battle-bruised, more traumatized. In a way, completely unrecognizable, like a war veteran coming home to their sweetheart but theyâve been completely changed by their experiences. Ahhhhh itâs all so tragic đđđ I could retrospect it all day, Iâd love to hear your thoughts on it, even with the other Links and, yâknow, coupled with the fact that most of them canât even remember Guide, so thatâs yet ANOTHER box on top of the already big pile of emotional shit everybodyâs going through.
ANON WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS TO ME I'M IN PAIN
Coming in with a false sense of fluff with Hyrule and Player and the idea of Real true love then slapping me with the crushing pain that follows the Veteran and Old Man like the stench of death to a corpse đđđđ I love it by god it fucking hurts to read it. Legend's bitterness and Time's feeling of lost, well, time being forced to grow up faster because of everything he went through
I need a fucking drink /j

Omg your oc is so cute I wanna know more about her
I WILL GLADLY TALK ABOUT HER FOR HOURS

She is a complete VAT7K OC and I imagine her nowhere near the main tts conflict. She used to be from an entirely different story but the main aspect of her personality has always been DEER IN HEADLIGHTS
Sheâs super quiet at first and seems super mystical which meets with an extremely curious Varian. She actually sees him leaving Corona and because sheâs a stalker and colorblind and likes how blue he is, she follows him along for a while before she eventually ends up saving everyone from the water trial. They see her as she tries to run off and (even though literally all of them are kind of spooked by her) immediately invites her along with the journey purely to study her.
With that being said she has no clue in the world what creature she is. And hardly anything about social interaction and it makes her freeze up, sheâs been selectively mute since before she could remember and itâs only gotten worse over time. (She doesnât know the word for it. She just thinks it makes her even more strange than she already is.)
But a main point of her character is that unlike everybody else on the team, she isnât ambitious in the slightest. She sometimes wonders what she is, but she couldnât care in the slightest about trying to figure out. She takes what sheâs given and thatâs it, she doesnât let herself want more than what she has which is shocking because she really does not have much at all.
And that would be sort of her character development in letting herself have feelings and not immediately invalidate them in her mind and make close friends for the first time,
Her voice is kind of the thing thatâs showing this through out her development and being super otherworldly at first, but eventually becomes more relaxed and sounding more like a Disney princess voice, still high pitched but with more emotion in it. (I had an old voice claim for her but I am now searching for a new one shhhh)
(I love drawing eyes but I suck at it)
Her dynamics all start with people being scared of her except Olivia so she ends up becoming close to Hugo first, tbh though he mainly just takes pity on her because of a conversation they had.
Like they run across a Hugo wanted poster (thereâs only like a couple of them but Hugo thinks heâs tough shit) and heâs all like:
âHaha sorry you had to figure out this way deer ;))) canât try and stop me though ;)â
And Saria is staring hard at the poster like sheâs investigating it: ââŚâ
â⌠What? You already knew this I was kidding-â
âIâm sorryâŚ. I never really.. learned how to read. What are the words underneath your face?â
Anyway he feels too bad about it and ends up trying to teach her how to read. She starts to pick up on it EVENTUALLY but it still takes a bit. Also she is such a stalker and she figures out Hugo is working for Donella QUICK. She doesnât want him to be mad at her or anything though so she doesnât expose him.
As said earlier, Varian tries to study her FAST. It makes her super uncomfortable but she isnât at that point in self-confidence where she tells him that, but they eventually end up sharing stories and become close. Itâs like they have polar opposite minds from each other but they just fit together so well <33 I think itâs pretty cute but whatever.
Yong probably gets over his fear of her quickest of anyone and he feels really validated in the way that she clearly sees him as an equal to her, if not above her. She listens while he yaps about random things he thinks nobody else would care to hear. They have NOTHING IN COMMON but thatâs what drags them to be besties.
I think her and Nuru are probably the least closest because (reasonably) Nuruâs pretty freaked out by her, but theyâd have their own little separate episode of a girls day out (including Olivia ofc) and Nuru realizes that sheâs kind of in the same boat as her, cause I imagine even though Nuru has her doubts about everyone else at first and feels sort of above them, she has an intense loyalty to her people and just wants to help them even if she has to give every bit of herself to do it. Just like Saria.
Anyway with her and Varigo, I switch on them based on my mood.
Most of the time theyâre polyamorous with more main focus on Varigo cause she doesnât know jack shit about human emotions so not really that interesting pining going on there. But Varian and Hugo are like 10 times more confused over themselves and guilty abt their feelings. Also instead of trying to mash their names together I call them poly freckles.
Or sometimes sheâs just a silly little friend to them that also ends up staying in Corona but mostly because she just has nowhere else to go and the two of them would feel bad banishing her back into the woods. She watches them argue and bully each other and thinks âYeah⌠Thatâs love.. They love each other⌠:)))â

She is just such a strange creature to me and I love her. Sheâs so stupid and itâs so funny to imagine her surrounded by these scientific geniuses but unlike them she is actually physically strong and can pick common items up so they need her.
I could keep going off about her but thatâs it for now. Plz send an ask if you want more because I WILL GIVE MORE!!!

Fairies
He had always been fascinated with fairies. Of course he knew that it was because he didnât have one, and everyone else did, but really it was more than that. There was something about their light, the effortless way they flew, how they represented healing and rebirth. Link wanted a fairy partner from the first, but he kept that in. Let the other Kokiri think that it was fine, being alone, when they never had to be. Navi was a blessing when she came. Probably, other Kokiri would have been annoyed that she talked so much, but he appreciated it. Heâd gotten too used to the silence, even with Saria as his friend. But âused toâ didnât mean that he liked it. It didnât help that he was mute himself. That he always had been, except for the ânoisesâ he made. It didnât make the other Kokiri like him any more, but they were always nice. Polite. Link didnât feel so quiet and different with Navi around chattering.
The first time he had stepped into a fairy fountain, on his path to becoming a hero, heâd been so enchanted that heâd want to stay. The water, the glow, the promise that theyâd bring him back from the dead - but he didnât know what death was, not really. His mother had died, but he hadnât gotten to know her. The Great Deku tree had withered, and he hadnât truly been able to process it. Kokiri didnât die. They didnât age. No one had talked about what dying meant before. âLet them live in one of your bottles, just for a little while,â Navi said, âand theyâll help you when you need them most.â Link had looked at her, confused by what that meant. Theyâd made it through the Deku tree just fine. It still felt like theyâd talk to him soon. âIf you die,â she said gently. âThey let you get back up again.â Link had coaxed a fairy into a bottle without questioning further. But she hadnât told him that dying would hurt worse than anything heâd faced so far.
Eventually he came to understand that death came at the end of pain. Sickness, injury, advanced age. Things that your body had no way to defeat. But it wasnât an end with his fairies. When he burned to death, heâd flash out for only a moment before the fairies brought him back. When his skin still burned, healing slowly, growing back like bark on a tree. They gasped air back into his lungs when he drowned. They pulled the sword from his chest as he bled to death, stitching torn aching flesh back together. Again and again and again. Because a hero was made, it seemed, to hurt. That he could die, would die, should die a hundred times for Hyruleâs sake. Because his pain mattered less than Hyrule. Yes, he supposed, he believed that. He had to. There was no other choice. It made so much sense when he heard this wasnât his soulâs first time through life. That Link and Zelda and Ganon were caught in a loop they couldnât escape. That yes, heâd died so many times before, and that even the ones at the end of his lives werenât the end.
The last death of his adventure, against Ganon, was the worst. Because he had run out of fairies in bottles. Out of potions, that tasted bad and forced his body to function a while longer. Out of milk and second chances. He was bleeding and tattered and breathing so hard it was all he could hear. Ganon was laughing, though. He was always laughing. This wasnât his first death either, was it? An ill timed step let Ganonâs sword hit him that final time and he fell without fairies. The pain did stop. The darkness did come. Before Link could truly wonder how he would wake up, next time, what kind of world heâd have left to save after failing, here, failing himself and Zelda and Navi and everything - his wounds were stitching closed and he was standing again. âI shouldnât do this,â Navi whispered. âIâm so sorry. I donât think Iâll survive. I canât help you anymore, but you can do this Link. You can.â His first word was her name. The first battle heâd won for her was the only one she wouldnât get to see. So when Zelda said that sheâd send him home, that heâd get to live his childhood like he deserved, he didnât protest quite fast enough. Because she might be there. Because fairies were life, rebirth, second chances. Because she had to be alive in the past he would no longer understand. Because he still needed fairies.
