“Classmates” Chapter 4

Oh, did you really say it right then, and there? And what did Shoko ask you??
AN: There are some corners I unintentionally wrote myself into from ch 1 (which we will catch up to at the end here) that I am choosing to ignore for the sake of the larger story.
I am also trying out a new header style with a couple icons I've doodled related to the chapter.

“…and that’s all for today,” your professor adjourns the class finally. Shoko has already stuffed her laptop into her bag and is chatting with classmates while you step up to the front to speak with your teacher.
After finishing your conversation, Shoko meets up with you outside the classroom.
“What was that all about?” Shoko links arms with you as you exit the building.
“Our adviser wants to meet up with me tomorrow afternoon. I won’t be in the afternoon lecture,” you steer the two of you towards Starbucks.
After getting coffee, you head to the library to study together before your last classes of the day. Shared notes passed back and forth like secret notes in high school, each adding their own flair in signature colors. Shoko’s in a deep blood crimson, yours in a luscious teal.
It’s been around three years since you and Shoko had your first rendezvous and definitely-not-a-date. The photos still hang on the wall above your bed. Since then, you’ve both defended your theses, graduated grad school, and entered med school together.
You still get butterflies in your stomach when you see her and you find yourself bearing your soul to her late at night when the moon is high and it transforms your vulnerability into a soft flower slowly blooming to be cared for by your person.
Tonight, you chose to take a detour to the nicer grocery store and pick up all your shared favorites for dinner. The salad from the deli, marinated steak from the butcher, the best looking broccoli in the pile, and hot cookies from the bakery.
Shoko walks home on the same practiced route she’s had for years. Not an unpleasant walk, but one that is always made better when you’re with her. Past the convenience store where you stop every morning, the bookstore where you stop every month to grab the latest issues of your favorite manga, and the liquor store with the weekend tastings. And then around the corner to her tall tower mansion apartment. But a left and then right at the same intersection leads to your modest but warm and cozy studio.
But earlier today you let Shoko know you’d come over to make dinner. Shoko would typically just order in or grab a slice at the nearby pub, but homemade meals were infinitely better. Besides, the wine she bought tasted better than the rail liquor they served at the pub. And you still had a few pieces of clothes in her laundry, Shoko knew she could keep you over through the weekend.
Shoko could smell your cooking from the hallway before she even put her key in the door. What’s the occasion? she thinks to herself.
“Welcome home! I hope you’re hungry,” you shout from the kitchen when you hear the door open.
“I’m always hungry for you,” Shoko kicks off her shoes and drops her bag at the front door. She pulls out two bottles of wine, one Cabernet Sauvignon and one Pino Gris. “I hope one of these works with dinner.”
You keep yourself focused on the stove in front of you, hiding your blush (It’s not hidden, your ears turned pink and Shoko smirked).
“Open the red, we’re having steak tonight.”
Shoko decants the bottle and sets the table while you finish preparing dinner.
You join her at the table once all the food is served and tip your glasses together while you dig in to the meal.
The setting sun streaming in catches on a framed photo hanging on the wall. A collection of five instant photos with today’s date inscribed on the bottom. Your heart skips a beat and your eyes drift to Shoko, who is currently stabbing a particularly large piece of roasted broccoli.
“Sho, I’ve been wrestling with my feelings, and it’s time I lay my cards on the table.”
Shoko looks up at you, biting down on the broccoli.
“I’m in love with you. Completely, hopelessly in love. I can’t imagine a future without you. I didn’t know what I wanted to do after grad school, and here we are in med school together. Not knowing what our schedules are for next year gives me anxiety because I want to run around the hospital and learn and help side by side with you. I want us to match our residency hospitals. I don’t- I don’t want to think about what the world is like without you,” you’re sitting across the table from Shoko, keeping your gaze trained on hers. Heart picking up speed, but your voice and hands remained steady and sure.
Shoko blinks and chews, which feels really inappropriate given how she just listened to you bearing your soul to her. But spitting out dinner seems far more inappropriate.
“Um, I, wow,” your name slips from her lips and a shiver slides down your spine.
“You don’t have to say anything. I didn’t even know I had this in me? Let’s just finish dinner, we’ll figure it out in time, yeah?” your heart is slowing just a moment. You truly didn’t expect to blurt this out, you hadn’t even thought over what you’d say. An out-of-body experience, but one you don’t regret.
Dinner is cleaned up in relative silence and the second bottle of wine is opened. Shoko joins you on the couch and hands you a glass.
“I know you’re thinking about how you shouldn’t have said anything or how you could’ve said it differently. But we should’ve talked about this three years ago. I just, I should have said something sooner,” Shoko turns to face you, free hand resting on your cheek.
“Will you be my girlfriend, my love?”
“God, yes. Of course,” you respond a bit too quickly, a bit too high-pitched, and a bit too loudly.
You set your glass down and launch yourself at Shoko who tips backwards into the arm of the couch but miraculously doesn’t spill a drop of wine.
Your lips crash together furiously as you lean into your girlfriend with three years of pent-up passion. Your hands clasp the sides of her face and slide up through her hair. Somehow Shoko finds the table and sets her glass down while her hands find their way to your ass and gives it a healthy squeeze.
Crawling up Shoko’s body to settle in her lap, you bracket her against the couch. Giving Shoko’s hair a tug, she whimpers and you take the opportunity to clasp your lips on her silky soft neck.
Taken fully by tonight’s revelations, you surprise yourself for your intensity.
Limbs twisting around bodies, you both manage to slip out of your tops, letting the heavy, lustful air slip around the peaks and valleys of your breasts.
Cupping Shoko’s tits in your hands, you give them a hard squeeze and steal the moans from her mouth. You give her bottom lip a light bite as you pull away.
Nails raking down your back, you arch at the acute sensations. The same nails resume their trails along the tense muscles of your thighs. Grazing up and down, each pass reaching more sensitive skin.
“I am going to make you forget your name, Shoko,” you whisper against her chin as your lips slip down to her neck.
“By all means,” she moans back. Shoko relinquishes all control to you, a rarity even three years later.
You snake your hands down Shoko’s body and slip a hand into her pants, feeling the delicate lace of her panties.
“Did you wear the teal ones today?”
“I also wore the matching bra but you were in a bit of a hurry to remove that part,” Shoko glances over at the pile of clothes on the floor. Just by luck this morning she chose to wear the set of lingerie you picked out for her the last time you went on your shopping-and-photos not-date six months ago. Both of your wardrobes were filled with thrifted and new outfits chosen for each other, ranging from lounge wear and gym clothes, to formal dresses only worn out to the field for intimate photos.
Shoko also didn’t miss that your latest purple bustier was also mixed into the pile. Anticipation was growing for her to see your ass framed by the stunning silk bottoms that matched.
Pulling Shoko out of her reverie, you drag your finger through her wet folds. Eagerly toying with her hardening bud of a clit, you swirl a finger around it until your girlfriend is bucking her hips against your body.
Just before you remove your fingers, you give a firm pinch and you devour another melodic moan from her lips. She whines in protest to the edging.
“Bedroom, now,” your command laced with a devious intent. You stand up and hold out your hand. This time leading Shoko to the bedroom. No chasing tonight, just getting caught in emotions.
Along the way you both shed your bottom layers. But not before Shoko slides her hands across your ass to admire the panties she picked out, “just perfection.”
“I, um, want to try it tonight?” you ask Shoko and look towards the closet, a momentary twinge of uncertainty in your voice.
“Oh really? I’m going to cum just thinking about it,” Shoko smirks and raises up to kneeling on the bed to plant a reassuring kiss on your neck.
You slip into the closet and pull out the box of toys, returning with a purple dildo and harness. You manage to get it strapped on, with a few grunts and giggles shared between you both. Admiring the view, you hold the dildo and feel it’s heft as you lick your lips.
“I feel so…powerful,” you give the length a slow stroke as you feel your own wetness leak down the inside of your leg just a bit.
“God what a tease~” Shoko leans back with her knees bent, hand dipping down to play with her needy cunt.
Bringing yourself over your girlfriend, you push her hands out of the way and slip your finger in, finding little resistance.
“Oh, you’re ready for me so soon?” You reach over for the bottle of lube and sit back on your heels.
After a sufficient amount is added to the bobbing length, you lean over to rub the tip against Shoko’s puffy entrance. Taking it slowly, you push in letting her adjust inch by inch until your strap is fully seated in her. You try to control your breathing, it’s just the first stroke and you’re already getting worked up.
Shoko finally lets out the breath she didn’t realize she was holding as you stopped moving. Foggy air hangs between you two, faces inches apart, your hair curtaining you both in this intimate moment.
“Should I uh,” you trail off, trying to force a chuckle at the end.
“Please,” Shoko pleads, squirming under you.
You immediately pull back until just the tip is inside and swiftly slide in again. Using your arms for leverage, you increase your pace and try new angles to pull out the strongest reactions from Shoko. Once you hit a steady rhythm, you lean down and swipe your tongue across Shoko’s lips and coax her tongue into your mouth where you give it a light suck.
“Ahhh…” Her moan turns silent and you can see in her wrinkled eyebrows how close she is.
A revelation for both, pin that to your memories for future use.
Reaching one hand down to swirl around her puffy clit, you take her tongue again. All the while continuing to piston in and out at just the right angle. Feeling a tingle work its way through your body, you enjoy the hands-free build-up.
In that moment, nails rake down your back, this time with more frenzied intensity. The chest of your lover is shoved up against you as she arches her back at the peak of her truly euphoric orgasm. Sparks in the corners of her obscured vision, legs shaking, erratically humping her hips against your slow strokes.
Resting on your forearms, hands braided through Shoko’s hair, sweaty foreheads pressed together. You swear there are clouds hanging around you.
“I love you,” you whisper.
“I love you, too,” Shoko replies, lungs still not calmed. “I need to see you on top of me like that more often.”
Slowly pulling out and hastily discarding the harness, you nudge Shoko onto her stomach and sit upon her exquisite ass. You lotion your hands judiciously and start at her trapezius muscles, digging in with your thumbs slowly. Your hands ride the dips and curves of her back, each touch brings out more soft moans.
“Move in with me.”
“Shoko, what did you say?” your hands freeze in place.
“Move in with me. You’re here more than you’re at your own place,” she turns her head to the side so you can hear her better.
“But it’s too quick? It’s been an hour since we said the L word,” Shoko starts to roll over and sit up a bit, you remain on her pelvis but avoid her eyes. Staring at her tits isn’t helping.
“What do you mean? Please look at me. Do we need to be in love officially for some set amount of time? If that’s the case, I want to know. Because I will mark it on the calendar and call moving trucks on that day.”
You slip down to lay in the crook of her shoulder, still unable to meet her gaze.
“No, but, I guess, well, I couldn’t afford a place like this, even splitting rent,” you try to assemble an argument. You want to move in. You want to tell Shoko that you’d march right down to city hall tomorrow to get married or a church, whatever she’d prefer. But how are you supposed to tell her all of that? Sure you blurted out one life-altering statement, but surely it won’t do that again any time soon.
“Ah ha. Well, what if I told you it would save you money because you wouldn’t be paying rent to anyone?”
You sit up and finally lock eyes.
“What?” you’re incredulous.
“Don’t worry about it, I’ll explain some other time. Just know that you wouldn’t need to worry about a rent payment.”
Your mouth keeps moving but nothing is coming out. Shoko reaches up and closes it with her lips and after a moment, you finally assemble one word.
“Yes.”
A loud blaring alarm rings on Shoko’s phone and both of you jump at the sudden intrusion, interrupting the excitement.
“Oh fuck me. The security alarm at the lab is going off and since I am the closest senior member, I have to go clear it. The cameras show no movement, it’s probably from some piece of equipment left on too long,” Shoko throws herself backwards into the pillows while you stare at her.
“Can I help?”
“No, just stay here. I shouldn’t be long, but please don’t wait up,” Shoko gives you a nip on the neck before slipping out of bed. She throws on a hoodie and sweatpants. Still looking criminally hot. The afterglow is really working for her tonight, you think to yourself.
“I love you, please be safe and I hope it’s nothing serious.,” you sit up and wave as Shoko slips out of the door, not before sending a kiss across the room to you.
Shoko returns home 45 minutes later and despite your best efforts, you are asleep in the bed, clutching Shoko’s pillow. She tidies up the living room and puts the wine and glasses away for tomorrow. She’ll make it up to you, the night was cut short and more fun and orgasms were to be had.
Would it be too crazy to get married soon? Yes, it would. You didn’t rush things thus far, don’t rush the next step. Shoko considers the next steps for the two of you now that you’re hers. It all just feels so right, like this is how it all was supposed to go. Satoru and Suguru are going to love you. But maybe you should get settled first before introducing their brand of chaos into the mix. At least they aren’t in the country right now anyways.

WINE !!!!!!
The world of wine is a scary and treacherous place. I have no idea how it works, truly. One of those worlds suits my palette and what flavours I can and will enjoy. Another suits sommeliers and wine makers and professionals who's role is to sell you wine, and the third, and most important, is the tastes of the general public.
I've had a few consumer based experiences with wine. The typical "trying a glass with your parents and it being aboslutely awful" is one. There was that time in barcelona I drank so much sangria I nearly died (I was fine- just an awful experience all together). That time at a gender reveal I drank so much champagne I nearly died (again, fine, just embarrassed myself in front of a whole group of people I never spoke to again). In terms of moderation and responsibility, I genuinely enjoy sparkling pink moscato, specifically the innocent bystander version, or, in a pinch, the $9 whispers pink moscato. It comes in a litre bottle, and I am always IDed for it.
Moscato is not very alcoholic. It is sweet, in the wine making process it's paused early to keep it sweet. To put it plainly, alcoholic content high? no sugar! Alcohol needs to eat the sugar to be alcoholic. The bottles we sell at work are only 3.3 standard drinks in a 750mL bottle. To compare, our popular house sauvignon plonk is 7.6 standard drinks. I actually had to cut off a young woman at work just the other day- who had maybe three glasses of moscato. I lowkey hoped she'd done a line in the bathroom or something to explain her behaviour, because I, a moscato enjoyer, was embarrassed.
The name moscato comes from the muscat grape. Pink moscato is only pink because of the splash of red wine, often merlot, is added. Moscato is the lightest and sweetest of the wines, and as such is such typically supposed to be enjoyed at "light" occasions, such as brunch, pres, with fruits salads and deserts, in summer with ice in a nice cold glass.
The only other wine I've had is the pinot gris I bought this evening. I researched what to enjoy with the caprese salad I was going to make, and google informed me I should opt for something simple, white and acidic. Of course I ignored that advice because wines that are white and acidic are gross and I'm not that refined. So instead of a dry sauvignon blanc or pinot grigio, i opted for a simple, new zealand pinot gris. I could definitely tell the warm apple-y undertones, and enjoyed it chilled in my fabulous pink wine glass. It didn't suit my salad at all, but the salad was fantastic all on it's own.
Thats it.

Marlborough Wine Region
Today's main activity was a half-day wine tour. Blenheim is home to many of the vineyards of the Marlborough region, which is well known for Sauvignon Blanc! Obviously, tried a few Sauvignon Blancs today, along with quite a few others.
Before the tour, I went for a walk along the Taylor River. There's a nice walkway that features countless plaques with poems written about the river by school children from the area. It was lovely stopping to read some.

Plus, there was this cute little train, which was terribly exciting! I had seen the tracks and just assumed that they were no longer in use, but I was wrong.
Now, onto the wines. The first place we went to was Nautilus Estate, where we got to sit outside in the sunshine sipping on a few different wines. Among them was an Albariño, a Spanish varietal that is only produced by 7 vineyards in the region, and they're one of only 3 that showcase them at their cellar door. It was lovely, but the real winner to me here was probably the Sauvignon Blanc (what a surprise!). It does make up 80% of their sales!
I tried the ones with the purple dots below.

Next up was Framingham Wines. Here, they have two different lines? brands? (I don't know what you would call it). The Framingham wines are their regular wines, machine harvested, and traditionally fermented. The F-Series wines are specialty, limited batch, hand-picked, and fermented by wild fermentation. Each bottle of the F-Series has a unique number that shows which bottle in the batch. They only make 2,800 F-Series Rose, but 8,400 F-Series Pinot Noir (those are the two we saw!). They also made a point of saying they're growing more grapes for Riesling, in part because they're trying to target a younger market. It's a good business move. What young person doesn't love a good Riesling? (That means I'm still young, right?)
I do think the winner here was actually the Pinot Gris!

Our final stop was Spy Valley Wines. It's a family-owned winery, and 60% of the vines are for Sauvignon Blanc! I didn't take a picture of the wine list year, because we had a bit more choice in this tasting. One of the interesting ones was that they have a Syrah available for tasting - these grapes don't grow well in NZ, so the bottle they had for tasting was a blend of the harvest from 2015 and 2016, aged for 5 years. They didn't get another harvest until 2020, which will be ready once they run out of the older Syrah, and now they no longer have the vines. So this will be the last of the syrah! (I didn't try it, so I don't know how it is.)

Here, I had a Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, White Pinot Noir, Pinot Nouveau, and late harvest Riesling. The Riesling was absolutely delicious, but I think the most interesting was the white pinot noir - it was almost like it was having an identity crisis. It almost looked like a very blonde rose but then tastes more like a Pinot noir without as much punch. Very interesting!

After the tour, I was knackered so I took it easy for the rest of the day to recover for tomorrow!

The Best Wine Regions To Visit In France!
France is known for its beautiful landscapes, historical landmarks, majestic architecture, and some of the world's finest wines. In total, seven main regions in France produce a majority of the country's wine. Each region is unique in its own right and known for the particular grapes that are specific to that region.
Bordeaux
Not only is Bordeaux the home of more than 10,000 winegrowers, but it also has well over 60 different monikers making it the red wine capital of France. Almost all of the wine produced in Bordeaux is red wine (85%), made from grapes such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot.
The more prominent red wine-producing regions of Bordeaux are divided into two parts known as "left bank" and "right bank." The soils found in the left bank contain higher amounts of gravel, which, it turns out, is better for Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. Wines from this part of the region normally have longer maturation times, and aging can take years. On the other hand, the soil found in the right bank contains higher levels of clay. This type of soil works best with Merlot grapes as they ripen much earlier than their Cabernet counterparts.
Burgundy
The Burgundy wine region of France is world-renowned for its Pinot Noir (Red) and Chardonnay (white) wines. Burgundy covers approximately 100 miles of land in the east of France, and apart from grapes in the two previous wines mentioned, Burgundy also produces Gamay grapes, which make a wine low in tannins known as Beaujolais. The varying climates of Burgundy result in perfect growing conditions for each of the grapes found in the region.
The Rhone Valley
If you are searching for a good bottle of red wine that won't break your bank account, you will most certainly find it in this southeastern region of France. The Rhone Valley produces some of the country's best "bargain bottles" and is the main grower of Viognier, Syrah, and Grenache grapes. Although you may find a wine at a lower price, it is not an indication that flavor and quality will be sacrificed. Wines from The Rhone Valley offer plenty of aroma and taste and can be easily paired with a wide variety of dishes.
Alsace
Alsace does things a little differently than the rest of the wine regions in France. In Alsace, wines are named after their grape varieties, whereas other regions name their wines by origin. White wines make up the majority of the wines produced in Alsace with Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, and Gewurztraminer.
The Loire Valley
The Loire Valley is known primarily for white wines such as Pouilly-Fume, Vouvray, and Sancerre. It is located in the northwest part of France and runs along the Loire River. The wines produced here vary between dry and sweet and are mainly white and sparkling. The cooler climate of the Loire Valley often results in the production of a lighter wine.
Provence
Up until now, you have read all about the magnificent white and red wine-producing regions of France. But no wine collection is complete without a bottle of high-quality rosé, and this is where the French region of Provence shines. This beautiful region produces mainly rosé varieties such as Château Pradeaux and Château de Roquefort. Provence is located in the southeastern part of France and borders Italy and also the Mediterranean Sea.
With so many different regions and diverse climates, French wine producers have the perfect recipe to make some of the finest vintages in the world. It is, without a doubt, a wine lovers paradise and a travel destination one should have in their sights.

7 Delicious Reasons Wine Blends Are Your 2025 Must-Sip What Are Wine Blends, Anyway?Reason 1: Wine Blends Are Flavor Fireworks Reason 2: They’re Built for Balance Reason 3: Wine Blends Love Food Reason 4: They’re Winemaker Magic Reason 5: Wine Blends Fit Every Budget Reason 6: They’re a Global Mash-Up Reason 7: Wine Blends Are Pure Fun Top Wine Blends to Sip in 2025 How to Enjoy Wine Blends Right Where to Find Your Wine Blends Fix Why Wine Blends Rock in 2025 Other interesting links 7 Delicious Reasons Wine Blends Are Your 2025 Must-Sip Wine blends are like a perfect playlist—different grapes, harmonized into something unforgettable. Picture a bold Bordeaux mix of Cabernet and Merlot or a zesty white blend of Sauvignon and Sémillon. In 2025, wine blends are stealing the spotlight, proving that teamwork makes the dream work in every glass. Whether you’re a purist or just love a good sip, these artful mixes offer flavor, balance, and fun. Ready to dive into the world of wine blends? Here are seven reasons they’re worth your pour—and your palate. Let’s sip and celebrate. What Are Wine Blends, Anyway? Wine blends are exactly that—wines made by mixing different grape varieties. Think of a winemaker as a chef, blending Cabernet Sauvignon’s structure with Merlot’s softness, or Chardonnay’s richness with Pinot Gris’ zip. It’s not random—each grape brings something to the table: flavor, body, acidity, or aroma. Some blends are famous—like Bordeaux or GSM (Grenache-Syrah-Mourvèdre)—while others are wild cards. Red, white, or rosé, wine blends aim for balance and brilliance. In 2025, they’re the tasty proof that more can be more. Biodynamic Wine Reason 1: Wine Blends Are Flavor Fireworks Wine blends don’t hold back—they’re a party in your mouth. A red blend might fuse blackberry from Zinfandel with spice from Syrah. A white blend could layer peach from Viognier with citrus from Sauvignon Blanc. Every sip pops with variety. Pour a few for friends and unpack the notes—it’s a team building experience that’s lively and layered. Reason 2: They’re Built for Balance Single-varietal wines shine, but wine blends perfect the art of harmony. A grape that’s too tannic gets softened; one too light gets a boost. Bordeaux blends Cabernet’s grip with Merlot’s plushness for a smooth ride. It’s teamwork at its tastiest. Share a balanced blend at a team building dinner—it’s wine that plays nice with everyone. Reason 3: Wine Blends Love Food Wine blends are food’s best buddy. Their complexity pairs with a crazy range—think a GSM red with grilled lamb or a white blend with spicy shrimp. The mix of grapes means they adapt, hitting sweet, savory, or salty notes just right. Test pairings with your crew—steak, sushi, cheese. It’s a team building experience that’s deliciously versatile. Reason 4: They’re Winemaker Magic Wine blends are where creativity shines. Winemakers tweak ratios—70% Cabernet, 20% Merlot, 10% Petit Verdot—or throw in wild cards like Malbec. It’s not just mixing; it’s crafting, blending vintages or regions for a signature sip. Sip one and toast the artistry—it’s a team building moment that celebrates the maker’s touch. Reason 5: Wine Blends Fit Every Budget You don’t need deep pockets for great wine blends. A $15 Côtes du Rhône mixes Grenache and Syrah into earthy bliss. Splurge-worthy? A Super Tuscan like Tignanello blends Sangiovese with Cabernet for luxe vibes. Options abound. Grab a range—cheap to chic—and taste the spread. It’s a team building experience that’s wallet-friendly and wow-worthy. Reason 6: They’re a Global Mash-Up Wine blends span the planet, mixing local flair with universal appeal. France’s Bordeaux blends are iconic; Australia’s GSMs roar with fruit. California’s Meritage plays with Bordeaux grapes, while South Africa tosses Chenin into white mixes. Taste the world in a glass—it’s a team building trip that’s blended to perfection. Reason 7: Wine Blends Are Pure Fun Wine blends don’t take themselves too seriously—they’re a good time. No grape snobbery, just tasty combos that invite you in. A fruity red blend or a spritzy white mix says “relax and enjoy.” In 2025, that vibe’s everything. Pour it for a laid-back team building experience—it’s wine that’s all about the joy. Top Wine Blends to Sip in 2025 Ready to mix it up? Here’s a lineup to love: Château Pesquié Ventoux (Rhône, France): Grenache-Syrah—spicy and smooth. Orin Swift Abstract (California, USA): Wild red mix—bold and artsy. Tablas Creek Patelin de Tablas Blanc (Paso Robles, USA): White blend—crisp and floral. Penfolds Bin 389 Cabernet-Shiraz (Australia): Rich and iconic—Down Under star. Banfi Centine Rosso (Tuscany, Italy): Sangiovese blend—easy and earthy. These wine blends are your ticket to tasty—grab one and sip. How to Enjoy Wine Blends Right Wine blends are easygoing but shine with care. Reds? Room temp (60-65°F/16-18°C); whites chilled (45-50°F/7-10°C). Swirl to wake the flavors—blends love air. Big glasses let the mix breathe. Pour slow, taste deep—it’s a team building experience that’s simple yet special. Where to Find Your Wine Blends Fix Wine blends are everywhere—wine shops, grocery aisles, online hubs. Look for “blend” or regional names like Bordeaux or Rhône. Wineries love mixing it up—tastings let you sample the craft with a vineyard view. It’s a team building outing that’s blended bliss. Crave more? Curated trips to blend-heavy regions—like Bordeaux or California’s Central Coast—pair sips with scenery. It’s a mix-master adventure. Why Wine Blends Rock in 2025 Wine blends aren’t just wine—they’re a collab. They’re tasty, balanced, and built for fun, blending the best of every grape into something bigger. In 2025, when we’re all about connection, wine blends deliver—a sip that’s greater than the sum of its parts. So grab a bottle, rally your crew, and toast the mix. Make it a team building experience that’s flavorful, friendly, and unforgettable. Wine blends don’t divide—they unite. Cheers to that. Saturday November 23rd
Blenheim
A bit of a lie in today before having some scrambled egg for breakfast then we wandered off to the local craft market. Not a lot there so we headed back to the motel to pack a lunch and pick up the car.

We drove 10 mins down the road to park next to the Wairau salt lagoons. It was a lovely walk for a couple of hours across the salt lagoons on a well kept path. We hardly saw any other people and for most of the walk we could just hear the birds around us. There was a handy picnic table at the end of the walk next to the remains of an old ship, the Waverley.

A quick stop for lunch before heading back to the car and then the motel.

Then it was time for a walk across town to the Small Town Winery for a wine tasting. Mark chose the flight of 4 Sauvignons while Trish went for a mixed flight, 2 Pinot Gris, an Albariño and a dry Riesling. All lovely wines and a very enjoyable time.

Back to the motel again. We had planned to go and listen to a French band in a cafe tonight but when we got there they were playing outside but it was a really cold evening and we didn’t feel up to joining their audience of 2 so instead we ordered a Chinese takeaway to have in the motel. Very tasty end to a good day.
