I’m a Husky

Giovanni Hernandez, a senior criminal justice major, is a first generation college student from Philadelphia of Colombian and Puerto Rican descent. Active on campus he is vice president of the Student Organization of Latinos and a brother of the Tikal Chapter of Lambda Sigma Upsilon Latino Fraternity, Inc., where he focuses on influencing all Latinos through academic excellence and community service. 

“Being the first to attend college in my family, I have many people looking up to me and also pushing me to do my best. I have taken that with great pride and always said this degree is not only for myself and my future, but it’s also for my little brothers, cousins, and family.”

“My culture plays a huge role here at BU, because I’m always embracing who I am. BU allows me to do that freely, and I think without that freedom I would not be in the position I am in today. BU has been such a welcoming campus since I did my tour almost three years ago, and it has only gotten better since.”
