Love through Time (Bed of roses and thorns)

Written with the amazing @complicitsacrilege we offer you a different couple this time....

I am Seth, the Golden Prince they called me a long time ago, when I was still a child in my naivety. 

I was born in the lands of the great rivers, where life and prosperity were brought by the waters and the floods every year were celebrated as interventions from the gods themselves. I won’t say those lands’ names for all of you are too young to remember and the ancient pronunciation has been lost for millennia now. 

I was the son of King Enkil and his Queen, Akasha. I was born to rule and trained to do so since I was old enough to walk. They were gods in the eyes of humans, as was I, despite being brought up in their shadows. I watched them conquer village after village, city after city, land after land, and I learned.

I learned many things about myself and what I was, what we all were. Enkil and Akasha had been mortals, once upon a time. Cursed to the blood by a powerful being who sought revenge for the one he loved. 

Then they were monsters, blood drinkers, doomed to a half life only lived at night. They thrived in this new nature. Their innate cruelty finally fed by the new lust they discovered. The world was thrown into wars and chaos and they ruled upon it all. 

They were mated.

Such a strange word to indicate the bond between souls. The power of a bond was, and still is, the most inexplicable of all the secrets my kind keep. So powerful that it can destroy the wall of silence between Master and fledgling, it is one of those things of which no one speaks freely. 

When I was reborn, the secret was bestowed upon me: a new guardian for the most powerful weapon, one that could control even the strongest of us. 

How I wished they never shared it with me. If I had been ignorant I wouldn’t have been foolish enough to look for the one creature born for me, and perhaps I wouldn’t have found him, and left him exposed to their violence. 

I found my mate in a young physician who had cared for me when I was merely a prince with all the trappings of mortality. 

Fareed, my Imi-ib. Beloved. That was his title. One I would have cherished for all eternity.

I loved him, and he loved me. We kept our love a secret, something precious and only for us. But then I was turned and the secret became even more dangerous to keep, and all the more important. 

Until the night I lost everything. 

Akasha found us, in a secret chamber and came with guards and fury in her eyes. 

My beloved was taken from me that night. The things they did to him before he died in my arms I will never forget. 

Just as I never forgot who took him from me. 

They taught me that loyalty was rewarded with even deeper commission, but only the worst kind of revenge was reserved for betrayal. So I took everything from them, as they did to me. 

They loved to be worshiped as gods, so I took them away, hid them in a magnificent golden temple that I buried in sand. So deeply no one would ever find them again. A grave where their bodies, now akin to statues, would be forever. 

They loved power, and I took everything they had for myself. I expanded my kingdom through the lands of the whole earth. 

One by one newborn kingdoms fell under my influence and power. There is no place I can’t reach. No man I can’t break, no ruler who hadn’t been destroyed by me. 

I took their firstborns. 

I took their thrones. 

I took everything I wanted by the mere measure of my army and the fear that view inspires.

Of those boys and girls I always demanded as payment, some are now part of my army. Some are so old they are called children of the millennia, like I am. Some have been food for my men, and the others have been turned into objects for their entertainment.

The pain of my loss would have driven me to insanity eons ago otherwise, and I would have sought eternal refuge in the ground, leaving the world to pass on above.

So why do I still rule over these lands instead of rotting below?

The answer is simple. 

Even if my kind was born from a curse, we were also given a second chance. Sometimes, when a bond is broken, there is a chance that what was once lost can again be returned.

Incarnated in another body, with another history and even another name, but we will always be able to recognize our mate. 

That is why I am the one who remains.

How I think the VC characters would feel about the pumpkin spice latte

Lestat: obsessed, can’t get enough, fall girl 100%

Louis: curls his lip up in distaste at the thought

Armand: fascinated by the concept and definitely enjoys it now and again

Daniel: tried it once because Armand begged him, but it’s a liiiiittle too sugary for his taste

Marius: probably likes it more than he cares to admit

Thorne: a fun treat for every once and a while, but not something he would order consistently

Santino: It is evil and indulgent! 😡

Quinn: thinks it’s kinda mid but drinks it for the aesthetic because he’s a dork

Nicki: actively makes fun of people who drink it

Mael: what’s a pumpkin spice latte?

Jesse: prefers it iced 😔

Seth: no hate but he doesn’t prefer it

Fareed: tried it once and that was enough

Khayman: he thinks it’s absolutely delightful

Pandora: prefers the iced pumpkin cream chai

Bianca: thinks it’s super cute and totally gets it as a more-than-occasional treat

Gabrielle: doesn't get the point of flavoured coffee in general

Wait so Lestat has a biological son? Why was he never mentioned in the show? Unless this happens in a later book/season but can vampires even reproduce since they’re technically dead? Did/will Lestat raise him and does he know Louis too? Will he also become a vampire? I have so many questions istg I learn new book lore every day and it manages to surprise me every time 😭

Oh yes, a biological "almost clone".

And he is never mentioned on the show because he did not exist in Lestat's past... but exists in the future books ("Prince Lestat" and on.).

Viktor is artificially created by Fareed. (Which is also why Fareed's presence in s1 already!!! made me scream and kick my feet, lol.)

Fareed is Seth's (Akasha's mortal son later turned fledgling) fledgling and companion, and both, he and Seth are "healers", scientists and doctors for the vampires. Fareed does a lot of experiments, and one of them was trying to make vampires have sex (by hormonal infusion). Remember, in the books these vampires did not have sex. And, you guessed it, Lestat participated in that little experiment.

The result is Viktor, who grew up with Fareed, Seth and his (later turned) mother, Dr. Flannery Gilman.

Viktor is turned when he is an adult, but he has no fear of the process, nor any apprehension, since he lived with ancient and powerful vampires all his life (Lestat did not know of his existence, Fareed didn't know how to reach him.).

Viktor does know everyone later on, yes.

And... he falls in love with Rose, and they actually get turned after their wedding, not kidding.

Rose is a girl Lestat rescues from a fire by the way, and who he visits and lets grow up. Louis knows of her, because when Lestat is unavailable it is Louis who saves her (from another fire), and brings her to New York (Trinity Gate). And there she meets Viktor.

Louis and Lestat later see them and treat them as family.

I do think that the show is gearing towards their existence in the narrative, since they changed Claudia's backstory to match Rose's (Louis rescuing her), and... well. The change to let them have sex again.... well. Fareed definitely managed that, too. :)))

(I mean, the principal change on the show will not be because of his experiments I guess, but the possibility in canon is definitely there^^)

Anyway, Seth and Fareed having some real important scientific studies and shit. It's all very professional and totally not just an excuse to fuck nasty.

I've always been fascinated by Fareed, Seth and Gregory. Their dynamic is just delish and the fact that love Lestat so much, Prince Lestat era is just wondrous. And AMC show gave us a Fareed with so much sass argh it's too much for my little mind!! I hope to see much more of him in S3.

So naturally I wrote fics of Fareed experiments on the vampires in Prince Lestat's court. This below is canon-ISH, wacky and totally unserious, but it's full of love and Easter eggs for book readers.

Ugh how are they so wholesome in Prince Lestat's vampire court, esp these three?

Oh wait, if we're going to have Armand telling his story that gives us a lot of things to look forward to, will we get the chance to see Santino, Allesandra, Riccardo and Bianca? If Marius is on "Daniel's side", will we get a glimpse of Pandora, Bianca or Avicus and Mael? Or even Thornevald? Do you understand? When the Queen arrives, it will be necessary to unite all the vampires capable of thinking clearly. They'll have to fill a huge table with thinking heads.

Not to mention Seth with Fareed and even Nebamun! Aaaaaaah😭😭

If Louis is in his Merrick era then what happens to him will impact almost literally with the end of Akasha (about the things Louis explains in the Prince Lestat era), they're telling a story that covers all the books and so it's something to think about...

Vampires will say anything about each other y’all. Gregory mentions that Fareed and Seth share blood every night which is the vampire equivalent of sex. So basically he just said in a published book for the entire Damned that Fareed gets railed every night without fail.

If they ever adapt this storyline I really hope that the show Fareed will be more ethical as a doctor than he was in the books and that they change the details around Viktor's conception. Am I the only one who thought that Fareed's actions were very shady? Lestat never consented to his sperm being used for making a baby, he only thought it was for medical/scientific reasons. I actually think that he would say yes if Fareed ever asked, but he didn't. Instead he acted like a weirdo and stole his sperm to make a clone and then kept it hidden. I wonder what was his reason for doing this? I get that we shouldn't expect morality from vampires but he was a doctor and the whole thing was terribly unethical. And don't get me started on everyone witholding info about Viktor from Lestat. If the show will go there, I want Lestat to experience raising his own child.

I get what you're saying, but... canonically Fareed is "only" in it for the science. The ... possibility. That's his passion.

Human morals mean nothing to him (anymore). In fact he canonically turns humans to then kill them and uses the (then) vampiric body parts for other vampires! For example.

As per Viktor, there is the concern somewhere how Lestat might react, but Fareed is fathered by Seth, and twenty years... are nothing to Seth, and that surely must reflect on Fareed and his outlook, given he is absolutely immortal and almost indestructible right after turning, given Seth's powerful blood.

In fact, if we want to point fingers - then I would say Gabrielle should have told Lestat as soon as she knew. Because she knew and she did not exactly bend herself out of shape to tell him, on the contrary. -.-

And I always hated the way she treats him there, too. As a mom I think it not funny, at all, and everyone who thinks it's ooooohhhh so funny how she slaps Lestat there (I have seen those posts) should probably take a real long hard look in the mirror. -.-
