Doing a clay face mask and wondering how different aliens might react to it particularly salarians turians and korgans, like maybe it's part of the roommate series thing, they come home early or something and human roommate is just in the middle of applying a face mask, I feel like korgans might just see it as a waste of time but I'm not sure about the others, I feel like you might get some looks if you did like a blue or purple face mask and an asari saw
Soft-skin species definitely adapted a form of skin care routine, possibly including face masks. The concept wouldn't phase the asari. They very possibly have their own line of element-zero infused products.
As for the salarians... well...

Something tells me they more than enjoy a good clay mask. The equivalent to human sauna or massage therapy centre would be just a pool of mud for them to dive into. You visit it once a week as a salarian, and your skin glows.
Salarians might dislike human clay masks because they feel too artificial? Perfume scented and sanitised from all the "healthy bacteria" their skin requires for nutritions. While their clay mask to us would feel like dunking your head in the sewer sludge.
Krogans and turians will find the concept strange, their "face masks" are more focused on shining and polishing their outer shell, rather than tending to the soft skin underneath.
Our face masks meant for human skin might harm them by stripping the necessary protective layering off of their shells. Might oxidise or bleach turian metal plates if left there too long.
Because the asari were the first to set foot on the Citadel, by the time humanity joins the galactic species with our face masks, all non-soft species are desensitised to the concept. They look at humans and go "oh damn you too?" then move on with their day.
Human face masks would just irritate their drell scales. Might cause chemical burns on the hanar... or blood poisoning if any liquid seeps into 99% water bodies.
Quarians think our clay masks are too gross. How we view the salarian skincare routine is how quarians view ours.
I think batarians would enjoy human clay masks :) Possibly the elcor as well. The vorcha would absolutely loathe it tho.

sometimes I watch "Bass Fishing Productions" videos on youtube where he goes out and rescues abandoned aquatic creatures from ponds and swimming pools and sewers but i kind of think it's a lie. I think he's going and dumping fish and then filming himself "finding" them. like realistically how many people are keeping hatchetfish and peacock eels in their backyard ponds and then abandoning them? >_> and he doesn't just scoop up a bunch of dead and sick ones in this dirty unmaintained pond??

A significant portion of the partly treated Sewage from malfunctioning STP Plants is dumped straight into the Rivers nearby rather than being recycled for utilization in non-potable applications, which worsen the situation.

Common Misconceptions About Septic Tank Maintenance
Introduction to Septic Tank Maintenance Misconceptions Septic systems play an essential role in managing wastewater for homes and properties not connected to city sewer systems. While many homeowners understand the basic purpose of a septic tank, there are still widespread misconceptions about how these systems should be maintained. Incorrect beliefs about septic care can lead to poor decisions, costly damage, and even health risks. In areas where services like Douglas County septic maintenance are often needed for rural properties and small communities, many people depend on septic systems for daily use. Understanding what is true—and what is not—about septic tank maintenance is key to keeping systems running efficiently and avoiding preventable issues.

Why Septic Tanks Require Regular Attention A septic tank collects wastewater from sinks, toilets, showers, and appliances. Solids settle at the bottom, while liquids flow out to a drain field. Over time, the solid waste builds up. If not pumped out regularly, it can overflow or clog the system. Septic tanks are not "set it and forget it" systems. Without routine maintenance, a septic system can fail, causing unpleasant odors, sewage backups, and damage to the surrounding environment.
Routine maintenance typically includes septic tank pumping every three to five years, depending on the household size and water usage. Regular inspections are also important to check for leaks, cracks, or signs of system overload. Proper septic system care helps prevent expensive repairs and protects groundwater from contamination.
Debunking the Most Common Myths About Septic Systems One of the most common myths is that a septic tank only needs to be pumped when there is a problem. In reality, by the time problems show up, damage may have already occurred. Waiting for signs of failure—such as slow drains, foul smells, or pooling water—is not a reliable maintenance plan.
Another common misunderstanding is the belief that septic tank additives, like enzymes or chemicals, replace the need for pumping. These products may claim to break down solids, but they cannot remove sludge from the tank. Only a professional pumping service can do that effectively.
Some homeowners also believe that flushing certain items, such as so-called “flushable” wipes or coffee grounds, is harmless. In fact, many items labeled as flushable do not break down in a septic system and can cause blockages. Septic-safe toilet paper and minimal use of garbage disposals are best for maintaining system health.
There is also a belief that if the system seems to be working fine, there is no need for inspection or care. However, many septic problems develop slowly and go unnoticed until they cause significant damage. Regular inspections can catch early signs of trouble and prevent emergencies.
How Misinformation Can Lead to Costly Repairs Believing in septic system myths can result in expensive consequences. A neglected septic tank can overflow, back up into the home, or damage the drain field. Replacing a failed drain field is one of the most costly repairs in home maintenance. Even worse, untreated sewage can seep into nearby wells or water sources, creating serious health hazards.
Ignoring maintenance can also lead to fines in areas with environmental health regulations. In some cases, homeowners may be required to pay for soil remediation or groundwater cleanup if their system leaks harmful waste into the environment. Preventing these outcomes starts with understanding how septic systems really work and avoiding false information.
Best Practices for Long-Term Septic System Health Caring for a septic system is simple when done consistently. Pumping the tank regularly based on usage is the most important step. Homeowners should also limit what goes down the drain—only wastewater, human waste, and septic-safe toilet paper. Avoid pouring grease, paint, chemicals, or food scraps into the system.
Water conservation also helps reduce the strain on a septic system. Fixing leaks, using energy-efficient appliances, and spreading out laundry loads can reduce the volume of wastewater entering the tank. Landscaping choices matter too—plant trees away from the septic system to prevent root damage, and avoid driving heavy equipment over the drain field.
Hiring licensed professionals for inspections and maintenance ensures the system functions properly over time. A record of services should be kept so the system’s history is easy to track. Misunderstandings about septic tank maintenance are common, but they can lead to serious problems when left uncorrected. Knowing the facts helps homeowners protect their property, avoid costly repairs, and support public health. With routine care, septic systems can perform reliably for decades. Southern Septic Service, Inc. encourages proper education and responsible upkeep for every homeowner with a septic system.

If your toilet is overflowing, and you want to know how to stop it quickly, then this article is for you! DIY Steps for Controlling an Overflowing Toilet You may want to try and control an overflowing toilet problem on your own while you wait for professional backup. Here are some steps you can try to solve the issue on your own: - Stop the water from refilling the tank. Lift the lid from your toilet tank and lift the bottom of the fill valve/float. - Keep the float up to keep any water from refilling the toilet. - Turn off the water supply at the toilet base. - Turn off your home’s main water supply. In some cases, even when you have turned off the main water supply, the toilet will keep overflowing! This is a sign of a problematic sewer issue. Call for emergency plumbing services immediately. What to Do When the Toilet Stops Overflowing Once you have successfully stopped the toilet from overflowing, take the time to clean up water that has pooled on the floor, taking extra sanitizing steps to make sure everything is clean and dry. Do not attempt to use or flush the toilet again until it has been inspected by a professional plumber. Trying to return the toilet to regular operation could lead to another episode of toilet overflow and more problems! Why Do We Need to Stop an Overflowing Toilet? Let's face it--no one wants a flooded bathroom or a house full of water due to a broken pipe. If the problem lies with your sewer system, such as clogged drains and pipes, call a professional plumber right away. Licensed and certified plumbers help prevent overflowing toilets from happening in the future. What Are the Most Common Causes of Overflowing Toilets? An overflowing toilet doesn't necessarily mean you have a clog. One or two inches of water in the bowl is usually not a problem if it drains quickly. If it overflows, however, there's probably something wrong with your fixture and it will need immediate professional attention. Common causes of overflowing toilets include: - Clogs - Overflowing tank - Incorrectly installed valves - Leaking flappers or connections between tank and bowl - Faulty levers, handles or cartridges - Malfunctioning fill valves - Clogged drains that lead to the toilet bowl - Broken or damaged pipes and other plumbing under the floor or behind the wall Don’t Make an Overflowing Toilet Situation Worse An overflowing toilet is a stressful situation. Make sure you don’t do anything that makes the situation even worse! Things not to do include: - Don’t panic. Panic leads to mistakes which lead to more clean-up time and lengthy repairs. - Don’t attempt to flush the toilet again and again. This isn’t going to help and will make the problem worse. - Don’t use nearby drains. You may have a blocked system drain or an issue with your mainline. - Don’t be tempted to reach for harsh chemicals (like Drano) to unclog your system. These products do more harm than good! - DO call a skilled, master plumber to come to your aid! This step is crucial and should happen as soon as you notice an issue with your plumbing. Mike Counsil Plumbing offers emergency plumbing services to the South Bay Area that you can count on when you need them! Blocked Drains Kingston: Causes, Solutions, and How to Prevent Costly Damage
Clogged pipes and slow drains aren’t just an inconvenience—they can quickly escalate into expensive, unsanitary plumbing emergencies. If you’re a homeowner or business in Kingston, understanding the causes and prevention strategies for blocked drains may save you time, money, and stress in the long run.
In this article, we’ll cover the warning signs of a blockage, what typically causes it, DIY troubleshooting tips, when to call in the pros, and how specialists like those handling Blocked Drains in Kingston deliver targeted, long-lasting solutions.
Why Blocked Drains Shouldn’t Be Ignored
Blocked drains are more than just a minor household issue. Left unresolved, they may cause:
Burst pipes from increased pressure
Sewer backups and overflows
Property damage to flooring, cabinetry, and walls
Mould and odour issues
Health hazards from bacteria-laden water
Early intervention is key. Recognising the signs and understanding what actions to take may help you avoid an emergency call-out and extensive remediation.
Common Signs of a Blocked Drain
You don’t need to be a plumber to identify early indicators of a blockage. Keep an eye out for:
Gurgling sounds in sinks or toilets
Water pooling in the shower or basin that drains slowly
Foul smells coming from floor drains or kitchen sinks
Toilet water levels rising or bubbling when other drains are used
Overflowing outdoor grates or gullies during rain or heavy use
If you’ve noticed any of the above in your home or business, it’s best to investigate before the situation escalates.
What Causes Blocked Drains in Kingston?
While causes can vary by property and plumbing system, these are the most common culprits in Kingston:
1. Tree Roots Kingston’s mix of older properties and leafy streets makes tree root intrusion one of the top causes of blocked stormwater and sewer lines. Roots can travel long distances underground and find their way into small pipe cracks, gradually expanding and obstructing flow.
2. Foreign Objects Items like wipes, sanitary products, cotton buds, and even excessive toilet paper can lodge in pipes and create blockages over time. Children’s toys and kitchen scraps are other repeat offenders.
3. Grease and Fat Buildup Cooking oils and grease solidify in pipes, particularly in colder months. They cling to pipe interiors and trap other debris, eventually forming a thick, immovable mass.
4. Damaged or Collapsed Pipes Ground movement, ageing infrastructure, or improper installation can cause pipes to crack, shift, or collapse—leading to reduced flow or full blockages.
5. Hair and Soap Scum In bathrooms, hair clumps and soap residues are a slow-building but common issue that restricts water flow, particularly in shower and basin drains.
For Kingston locals, addressing these issues early with a service like Blocked Drains in Kingston means you’ll get help from professionals familiar with the specific drainage challenges in the area.
DIY Methods to Try Before Calling a Plumber
For minor blockages or slow-draining sinks, you might be able to restore flow without professional assistance. Here are a few safe methods to try:
Boiling water: Effective for dissolving soap and grease buildup in kitchen sinks.
Plunger: A good first option for toilets and basins—make sure there’s enough water to cover the rubber cup for best suction.
Baking soda and vinegar: A chemical-free solution that can help break down soft obstructions.
Drain snake or auger: Can dislodge hair and debris lodged within arm’s reach.
Avoid using chemical drain cleaners—they’re harsh on pipes, hazardous to health, and often provide only temporary relief.
When to Call a Professional
If the blockage persists after DIY methods, or you notice widespread plumbing issues throughout your home (e.g., multiple slow drains), it’s time to bring in the experts.
Licensed plumbers use tools like:
CCTV drain cameras to inspect and diagnose issues underground
High-pressure water jetters to blast away roots, grease, and debris
Pipe relining technology to repair cracked or damaged pipes without excavation
Providers like Blocked Drains in Kingston have the local experience and the right equipment to solve the problem at its source—saving you money and protecting your property in the long run.
For an excellent breakdown of how hydro jetting compares to older methods like rodding, check out this Tumblr blog on modern drain-clearing tools. You might also enjoy this Tumblr post discussing how seasonal weather impacts drainage systems, particularly relevant for Kingston’s rainy periods.
Prevention Tips for Homeowners and Businesses
The best way to deal with a blockage is to prevent one in the first place. Here are some habits that can help maintain healthy drainage:
Use sink strainers to catch food scraps and hair
Never pour oil, fat, or grease down the drain—dispose of it in a sealed container
Avoid flushing anything other than toilet paper and human waste
Flush drains with hot water weekly to reduce buildup
Trim back large trees near your sewer lines and check for council planting guidelines
Book annual inspections, especially if you’ve had previous drainage issues
Being proactive not only protects your plumbing system but also helps reduce your risk of unexpected costs.
Choosing the Right Plumbing Partner
Not all plumbing services offer the same level of quality, and choosing the right provider can save you a lot of stress. Look for a team that:
Offers fixed-price quotes upfront
Has local experience in Kingston
Uses non-invasive, modern tools
Provides CCTV footage or reports for transparency
Responds quickly to emergencies
Guarantees their work
Blocked Drains in Kingston is an example of a service provider that ticks all these boxes—helping Kingston locals protect their homes with fast, honest, and effective drain solutions.
