Ahmed Younis recently uploaded this short documentary to his YouTube channel. In it, he talks about the border separating Palestine and Egypt and shows the process people had to go through when the border was open earlier this year. (The video is linked above, but you should watch it in full on YouTube so he gets the views).
The video is in Arabic, but the visuals still tell the story of Ahmed and his friends living along the border in Rafah earlier this year. We see how people found out they were able to cross, as Ahmed's best friend Bashar left for Egypt.
Available Go Fund Me campaigns for people whose stories have been shared on watermelllonarchive can be found in the resources post.

Here's a short documentary I directed on my headmate Eve. I made this back in the Fall of 2021 for my film school and it's still the only real film I've ever made. Despite my feelings on it now, the feelings it gave the wider plural community when it came out was worth the effort and pain it took to make this. If you haven't seen it yet, maybe you'll get something out of it. Who knows?

At ninety-five years old, Catherine Kuehn was a world-record-holding powerlifter. “It’s been very easy for me,” she explains with a smile, “because no one my age was doing it.” “Strong Grandma,” the documentary short by Cecilia Brown and Winslow Crane-Murdoch, follows Kuehn as she prepares for what may be her final competition. (Kuehn, who was ninety-five years old during filming, is now ninety-seven.) We see Kuehn in the gym, working on her deadlift, hips hinging with practiced precision—her goal in the upcoming competition is to deadlift a hundred pounds. She works out with her training partner, Peggy; we see the pair at a meet together, wearing their singlets (“not very becoming,” Kuehn remarks), sharing pastries and commentary. Kuehn came to powerlifting late in life. She picked up the sport in her eighties, alongside her husband, Dick, who has since passed. Her story is as much about the enlivening power of connection as it is about grit and athleticism. “When you have your soul mate rooting for you, you gotta do it. You just gotta do it.”
