Well July went by a bit quick and in the blink of an eye it’s August. We have an epic few weeks planned starting with a long weekend away and ending with the road trip we’ve been looking forward to all year. I honestly can’t wait to get behind the wheel of our hired motorhome. We also have a festival poked in and a couple of day trips planned just me & the Kiddos. If you read any history about the peach and it’s origin stories, you’ll undoubtedly come across a reference to the reign of Queen Victoria. According to legend, she loved this fruit so much she insisted on eating one at the end of every meal and instructed that each peach be served to her atop a luxurious cotton napkin. From a woman who could have had any kind of fancy dessert she wanted at the end of her meals, it is lovely to discover that she treated the peach like an exquisite gift from the fruit gods. It’s a great reminder that summer desserts don’t always have to be so elaborate. A simple peach on a warm weather day can be just the right slice of sweet summer magic. This really sums up today quite nicely. After a stressful morning I decided to stay home and not cause any more stress for myself. Twin wrangling in public is quite a challenge somedays. But we had an ok day. Though I’m sure cabin fever will hit soon so maybe a trip out is in order tomorrow. Because almost perfect (not quite perfect as I had no cuppa) isn’t always insta perfect. Currently now have two naked little twins running around the garden. Finished the today with with a bit of gardening (I mean the hottest day ever recorded is obviously the best day to do such a thing), me and the kids then laid on the grass watching the clouds and trying to make pictures in them. Snacks to hydrate. I was reading how to stay cool (alive) in a heat wave. Along with the obvious fans, air con, cool flannel, ice creams. Getting the kids to eat fruit and veg that have a high water content. Melons, strawberries, mango etc. Also.
