Pomni x Reader who doesn't wanna leave
warning(s): implied panic/anxiety attacks, implied Reader's life prior to the Circus might've not been so great A/N: I'm not really good at words of comfort, so hopefully this isn't too bad... request: I have a request for actually pomni instead of jax- a reader x pomni sfw thing where the reader doesnt actually wanna leave the place but understands why pomni wants to leave so they just try to help her with anything and is very comforting to her. (basically a extremely sweet and calm reader with a nervous wreck pomni)
It’s easy to see why one would freak out about being permanently trapped in a digital hellscape in a body that doesn’t require sleep or food.
You feel for Pomni, you really do, but unlike her, you enjoy living here. There’s little to worry about compared to the struggles of living in the real world, the life you had before this was nothing but stress and exhaustion.
Though it’s easy to see why that might be the issue for some people, sure you lose out on all the things the real world can give you, but for every pro, there’s a con. Something you can accept, but not Pomni.
She’s such a sweet girl when she’s not on the verge of a panic attack, even if you don’t want to leave you continue to reassure her that there has to be an exit. “Can’t have an entrance without an exit.”
The best you can do is reassure her verbally and try to bring some sense of normalcy to the place. Just last week the two of you went for a walk outside the tent and did some nature gazing, it’s a little trippy how realistic the ambiance was. Though it seemed to do just the trick to help Pomni, the fake birds flew around and chirped, accompanied by the screams of obnoxious bugs.
Then there was just a few days ago when the two of you sat and listened to music while having a fake little tea date. The tea set was real—or as real as anything in this place could be—similar to a child’s play set it was just decoration as the two of you chatted over empty cups of tea.
It always seemed like talking and acting like everything was normal was a big help to her, you know if you get past the fact that the person across from you doesn’t look remotely normal.
Today, however, Pomni had been a wreck all day—the nature walk and tea time offers weren’t enough to distract her. Instead, you settled down nearby careful not to touch her, and simply took it one step at a time. Pomni disliked physical touch so you made do with talking her through it, through what was currently on her mind all while making sure to steer the mindset from sketchy abstraction territory.
“How are you so okay with this?” She looked over her knees in your general direction, not really looking at you or anything in particular.
“I mean to say I’m okay is an understatement. But it’s an improvement in some departments compared to my life before… I understand not everyone can see it that way though. But for me, I’m pretty okay with the whole situation.”
Nobody had really opened up about their lives prior, whether they could remember or not it just never came up. It felt almost taboo for some reason.
“Like I told you before, every entrance has an exit. And if I find one, you’ll be the first person I tell.”
It’s not an entire lie, you would tell her if you actually found one, but not every entrance had an exit. In some cases, the only “exit” so to speak would be death, but saying that would only make the situation worse.
“H-how do you know that though? Nobody’s seen one except for…well Kaufmo and me..” Pomni bit her lip, squeezing her legs tighter. “And i-it wasn’t even a real exist… Caine said—”
“Sweetie Caine’s about as smart as Jax is nice.” That gets a hesitant little giggle out of her, it’s rude but true. “There’s an exit I know it, that said there’s a chance Caine doesn’t know where it is or how to access it. That doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.”
“I…I guess you are right…”
Pomni relaxes the death grip on her legs, letting them dangle off the couch. She’s still stuck in her head but it’s progress, and you are patient to work with her.
“Wanna go down to the kitchen and make something?”
Her head snaps in your direction so fast you swear she’d get whiplash if she could. “What?”
“You heard me.” You give her a weak shrug and lean on the armrest of your chair. “We can’t eat but that doesn’t mean we can’t cook—it’s not the same but we can still do it, sorta.”
Her expression is pure confusion, did she not know you could still cook or that there was a kitchen? Have those idiots shown her nothing??
“Mhm, maybe we could bake something for everyone. Again, can’t eat it but it’s the thought that counts yeah? I’m sure the others would enjoy that, we can all sit down with a slice and maybe have a nice chat.”
That sounded nice, domestic, and more importantly, normal. She can’t remember the last time she cooked or baked something, and while it would suck to not be able to eat it, enjoying the company of the others would be nice. Well, mostly nice.
“Yeah, I think I’d like that.”
The two of you stood and you gave her a warm smile before gesturing her to follow. Before you made it to the door she called your name, giving a weak smile as she approached. “Thank you.”

Matching Bracelets: Lovejoy Friendships
2024 is coming to a close; thank your deity of choice.
There’s a lot of talk about friendships that were lost this year. It’s painful to hear and, I would argue, self-centered and tasteless to voice. (Ok, ok, dropping it.) But there’s another thing worth celebrating that emerged from this horrible test. We learned there are friends who have your back in the worst of times. There are friends who have the courage to weather storms. There are new friends, kindred spirits, who find each other in chaos because they speak the same language. Birds among the sheep.
The fact that the members of Lovejoy stood by Will meant so much. We saw them demonstrate real friendship, unconditional support, at a time when no one seemed to have the balls to stand up for what is right. It’s not about condoning or condemning actions, (you dipshits,) it’s about friendship, loyalty, and human compassion. These boys could have cut and run but they chose to stay. This is why they own our hearts. Hats off. o7
On the fan side, everyone tied themselves in knots last Spring arguing with the digital lynch mob. We typed incessantly to defend our beliefs and maybe, just maybe, pull some people over. We railed against the misinformation and painfully pointless dissections of fact. They misunderstood everything we said. They reduced Will to a couple of ill-fitting labels. Their stamina for finding and smothering any signs of support, even still, is pretty staggering. I apologize for rehashing this. But I have a point.
I hate to talk about pain. Especially our pain, because we aren’t the targets here. But it’s an important bridge here so try to stomach it.
There’s been a three-part agony for fans. It’s both past and persistent. First, and most obviously, it was so painful to know what Will must be feeling. That’s woefully understated. It’s not about infatuation or parasocial nonsense (really sick of that one) – it’s just empathy, pure and simple. Second, fans were mourning their losses. The fan community (and associated excitement and joy) just sublimated. Third, we felt (and still feel) so fucking helpless. We know someone is suffering, we understand it, and can’t do a goddamn thing to help.
We found new friends. Unexpected, trauma-bonded, amazing new friends. Some close friends, some just familiar personalities. We know each other by name or at least by the alts we use to keep out employers from finding us. We know who will keep everyone’s spirits up and pull us back to the center when things get sideways (fans know who I mean). We know is best at smacking down bullshit. We know who the freaks are. We know who sweethearts and the jokers are. We know the writers, artists, and poets who just need some way to pull these feelings out of their chests. We are a very motley crew with a broad range of backgrounds, ages, and interests, but we’re all connected by these basic things – human kindness, belief in Will as a person, love for Lovejoy.
Let me tell you my Lovejoy friend story. I’d love to hear yours.
I never used social media before this. (No I’m not from Mars, there’s a reason that is definitely noone’s business.) I had a Twitter account with zero posts and hopped into “Wilburtwt” one day, needing to understand this mess and needing to express myself. I did some searches and found LVJYbandNEWS and her Cards for Concern effort. I wrote some painfully sappy fanmail to pull the feels out of my chest and mailed it off.
Over the next few weeks, some interesting people stood out from the rest – wise, smart, funny, and adult (no shade to the kids, love you all too). We bonded over the helplessness. We just wanted to DO something to make things better. We wanted to take action and find ways to move the needle. We started an offline chat to problem solve. We’ve since worked together on several projects, trying to raise fan engagement, steer the conversation, and clean up websites. There are now eight of us, five adults and three teenagers. (Maybe ONE DAY they will let us help.)
We have Zoom happy hours and shared Google docs. We ask for each other’s advice. We type back and forth everyday over big and little things, mostly just enjoying being passionate fans. L: heart and fan-herder; A: badass; S: just effing cool; J: smacks down the dumbshits; H: endless enthusiasm for a not-Will bandmate; V and E: creatives; [me: rants and types essays and poems] .
When Lovejoy announced New York, we bought plane tickets, booked hotel rooms, and broke it to our families that we were skipping Thanksgiving. My unindoctrinated friends thought I was nuts when I said I was going to Brooklyn with internet people I had never met, planning to stand in the cold all day just to be close to some indie band. But it's not ‘some indie band' – it’s LOVEJOY. And they're not just ‘internet people�� – they’re my FRIENDS.
The line experience was so much fun. I met so many cool people, so different but all connected, half with familiar usernames. I can tell you with certainty that I don’t care (that much) about being in front, but I can't wait until I get to hang out with these jokers in line again. (But maybe not so early? Can we maybe agree as a fandom to adjust? It's a bit nuts.)
LOVEJOY, Thanks for being good friends to each other. The real kind. And thanks for the friendships we’ve had the privilege of making around you.

Chifuyu nearly lost his best friend at 13 years old.
They fought a lot. The neighborhood they grew up in wasn't the best - if he's honest with himself it was a slum. A dump. His mother, bless her heart, tried her best to steer her son on the right path but their circumstances weren't easily ignored. Without a father in the picture Chifuyu found himself in the company of little boys who were in similar predicaments to him, all susceptible to the same fates, and all banded together to face the world as one stronger entity rather than what they really were, a bunch of misguided little kids.
It was through this group that he met Keisuke. It was also through this group that he nearly lost Keisuke.
The day still demands occasional attention through his memories. Sometimes it's like he's living it over again, seeing Keisuke's body hunched over, blade of a rusty knife with a dirty handle lodged deep into his stomach. It was that day when he realized what he was, what they all were. Kids running around like makeshift Yakuza members. Kids way above their heads. Young, dumb, and in need of help.
His love for his friends grew that day.
It wasn't easy, but eventually, they decided unanimously to become better. To strive for different. Whilst Keisuke dropped out of school, Chifuyu pushed for his diploma and later encouraged his friend to do the same. In turn, when Keisuke enrolled at the local community college to pursue his aspirations of learning mechanics, he afforded Chifuyu the same encouragement.
"Why don't you study photography?"
It's not like the thought hadn't been in his mind for years. Chifuyu hoarded dozens of disposable cameras in an old Nike shoebox beneath his bed, film developed with the pictures neatly packed into envelopes. He's carried one with him ever since the incident, a camera tucked into the front of his bookbag with new rolls of film sat next to it. He's become the group photographer - eager to catch memories of everything. He's snapped pictures of Mikey trying and failing to ask girls out. Of the twins making ramen for the entire gang at once. Of Keisuke and Kazutora, engine oil smeared on their cheeks as they proudly display the first bike they've refurbished together. Of Draken when he finally got his first apartment. Of the day he found Peke J. Everything. Every moment is too precious of a memory after you've nearly watched everything slip away. By the time he was out of high school, with smart phones on the rise and digital media at his fingertips, Chifuyu still stubbornly carried around a disposable camera, fingers itching to capture a fleeting moment.
He, nineteen, with mousy dark hair and wide eyes, swallowed hard. "You think I should do it?"
Keisuke shrugs. "I don't see why not."
Keisuke gifted Chifuyu his first real camera that day. A Canon 6D, fresh and new on the market with a Sigma lens to match. The very camera that Chifuyu had been eyeing in secret for months.
Keisuke holds it awkwardly in an overgrown hand. "They say it's really good for capturing pictures in low light," he explains. "You do that a lot. We uh, we usually get together at night or at sunset or something and you would bring flashlights because you say your cameras don't do well at night. It took me a couple months to save up for this but then I did that job with Ken on that truck and it paid out really well so...managed to snag this early."
Chifuyu still remembers Keisuke's face that day. His long, curly black and blonde hair. His crooked smile and thrice dimpled cheeks. The way his nose tinged pink - a sign of uncharacteristic timidity. Amber eyes that looked at him in earnest.
"I think you should study photography."
Chifuyu, today, toys with the camera in his hands. He's since gotten equipment leagues better, and has since phased out of using that in favor of cameras with clearer qualities and specification designed for different scenarios. He's no longer confined to hunching over in his childhood bedroom with a doctored version of Photoshop on his broken down laptop. He's sat in his photography studio, decorated with lights and hoods, with custom backdrops and furniture all neatly arranged. He's sat in his dream.
He flips the camera on its underside. A sliver of paper is taped to it, a little dingy and torn in corners, though the scratchy ink is still readable.

Missing Stitch AU
Welcome to the missing stitch au! It's a new AU idea I had while listening to music, and I got the idea when listening to 'No Wind Resistance' For some reason-
The AU is based off of the kidcore / possible Traumacore aesthetic, and it's actually a game idea I've decided!
I call it the missing stitch au, mainly cuz the critters are stitched together and catnap is the only one who isn't

Dogday - Dogday Is the leader of the group! His role within the place is to Make sure guests are happy and comfortable, He is overly friendly and quite adventurous sometimes, though he does set out some explicit warnings about different areas
Bobby Bearhug - The medic / nurse of the group, her role within the group is to make sure that guests are okay and to heal them when they're hurt, She can be quite motherly the kind, And she does make sure that if You get hurt, You get healed right away
Hoppy Hopscotch - One of the athletic ones of the group, She tends to make games for you and the other critters to play, mostly running around and that stuff. She is energetic and a tiny bit impatient, but she means no harm, the least she would do is just thump her feet And tell you to hurry up
Kicken Chicken - The other athletic one of the group, he tends to make games that are more skill type, say, skateboarding for example. He can be a little bit cocky but he's also very kind and chill, He isn't as impatient as hoppy, he'll just wait for you until you catch up
Bubba Bubbaphant - The teacher of the group, He is definitely the one to elaborate more on Dogday's warnings, and like the original AU, he steers the group to make smarter choices, especially in a panic. He's smart and pretty chill, and as long as you listen to him, he'll be okay with you
Picky Piggy - The cook of the group, she's the one that makes sure that guests are eating well and she cooks for you and the others! She is sweet and kind, and she is real knowledgeable when it comes to cooking, Sometimes she'll invite you to cook with her, but she doesn't mind if you say no
Craftycorn - The artist/storyteller, she enjoys making up stories and doing art and she often shares it with the rest of the group, therefore it has became her job to make up stories so that she could share them with the group, she's shy and sweet and artsy, and she is often the one to try and cheer you up when you're sad and haven't told Avery
Avery Antelope - the therapist of the group, he's the one to make sure everyone's mental health is in check and that they aren't going insane- He's generally calm and respectful but he can also be quite panicky, or energetic, kind of like Hoppy and Kicken, Of course due to his ADHD. Whenever you're down, he often invites you to talk it out with him
Catnap - The "Puppeteer or"String Puller", He is the one controlling the characters, he can control what they do but he can never control what They say, in fact, he's the reason why the critters never want you to go into "night mode" in the game, because he's often roaming around the place, if he catches you, looks like you'll become one of his puppets...

• The critters are basically all controlled by catnap during the day, But at night, he doesn't really control them anymore, he just gives some free will for them at the end of the day
• Avery is the only one that catnap can't really control, mainly because Avery is still haunted by that thing, and he can't really have two people trying to take control of him-
• Bobby is always making sure her friends are well, And she's willing to take care of them if they're sick
• They each have their own rooms, just like in the amazing digital circus
• They all have their own color scheme, such Dogday being warm colors and Catnap being colors related to purple and black
• They have their own areas related to their hobbies and that stuff, Hoppy and Kicken share an area because they're both sporty and that stuff
• The closed off areas are usually covered with large stickers, pieces of paper, cardboard, etc.
• All the closed off areas Usually lead to Catnap's room
• Among catnaps walls, you can see all the dead players that have actually played the game and lost

• They are Genderfluid
• In the real world they're around 16
• They're generally curious, always trying to find ways to open up the restricted areas
• Outside of the game, They have a younger brother named Rowan, who just went missing...
• They are based off of your favorite animal and fav color, Of course because they are self-insert OC's!
• They do tend to enjoy the weirdcore aesthetic, as well as other aesthetics related to it
• They enjoy playing games, and exploring!

~ It has a mainly warm color scheme, as well as a bright and happy atmosphere

~ has lots of physical activities, like running, playing hopscotch, tag, etc.

~ Has a lot of things related to cooking, like pots and pans, as well as a bunch of recipe books, each for a different food category and different ingredient categories

~ Inhabited by Craftycorn
~ Similar to the classroom, But with much more artsy stuff, like paint and canvases, it also has a bunch of pictures hung up on the wall, seemingly the things the characters made
• Therapy room
~ Inhabited by Avery Antelope
~ Has a calm and quiet atmosphere, as well as more neutral / dull colors, more calming colors as well, as well as those chairs you see in therapy rooms as well-
• Catnap's room
~ Inhabited, of course, by Catnap
~ It has a map of the entire place, as well as some dolls of the critters, all except Avery and you, the walls are also aligned with avatars of different people who played the game...

New Tesla Model 3 v BYD Seal: Ultimate review!
BYD hit the headlines recently as it overtook Tesla for the most electric cars sold in Q4 2023. The question is, which of these EV manufacturers makes the best electric saloon - Tesla with the Model 3, or BYD with the Seal? Well for starters, let’s check out the design. This may be the new Tesla Model 3, but it hasn’t changed a whole lot since the previous edition. There’s a new front & rear bumper, along with a few minor design tweaks, but otherwise, the car looks pretty similar at the front and the rear. Along the side, the car is pretty much identical, apart from a set of new alloy wheel designs! The BYD is also pretty tidy, although we are getting a few Tesla vibes from the design. Creases along the side help it stand out, and there are some pretty smart fins at the bottom of the rear doors. Otherwise, though, both cars are fairly similar when it comes to their look and design. Take a step inside, and you’ll find more of the same! Both cars come with a huge 15-inch screen stuck to the middle of the dash, and these are used to control pretty much all the features in either car! However, there are a few features that differentiate the BYD from the Tesla. Not only does it have a normal drive mode selector, but it also comes with traditional indicator stalks! In the Tesla, you have to select drive mode through the screen, and you need to indicate with buttons on the steering wheel. The BYD is also the only car out of the two to come with both a digital dial and a heads-up display. Everything in the Tesla is housed in the infotainment screen. When it comes to the price, the two are once again pretty evenly matched. The single motor editions of the Tesla and BYD start at around £40,000 and £45,000 respectively, but when you look at the dual motor editions, expect to spend around £50,000 for the Tesla, and just under £49,000 for the BYD! So will the Tesla reign supreme? Or will Mat prefer the BYD? You’ll need to watch the video to find out for yourself!

It's wild that Google is single-handedly responsible for this, and that's not an exaggeration. Google wanted to get into the hardware and operating system business, and more importantly they wanted to steer that business into a non-local always-online cloud based model. So they invented the chromebook and subsidized the hell out of basically giving them to the public school systems.
And those school systems, so financially destitute, so barely capable of keeping the lights on and the staff paid, how could they refuse? Suddenly they don't have to spend budgets on computer labs, and now every single public school student has a laptop. So from a very rudimentary perspective the children have more computer skills than ever, after all they're USING a computer to do ALL of their school work.
It isn't that this generation of young people doesn't know how to use computers or digital systems, it's that every interface they've ever interacted with is a WALLED GARDEN, a closed system, an individual app with it's own inputs and outputs and menus and settings that doesn't interface with any others.
And these web-based walled gardens are intentionally designed to DISCOURAGE the import and export of data in agnostic neutral discrete formats. The systems either communicate with each other over sophisticated API connections through a single google, apple, or facebook account or THEY DON'T. It either spits out a link that the other system is smart enough to interface with or it doesn't. It still feels insane that a tumblr post can't embed a tiktok, so we literally download and then upload the raw video data!
When we ask them to take a piece of paper and get it to this person hundreds of miles away it's like a Model T mechanic explaining to us how to crank the carborater and prime the fuel and mix the oil into the gasoline. Our reaction to that isn't, "Oh my education failed to teach me how to drive a car", our reaction to that is your car is fucking old and it sucks, all I should have to do is put it in drive, why the hell isn't my transcript just a shortened url stored on my school's website? Why is my name and birth date and social security number not enough information for this god damned sophisticated institution to get my transcript from my school? Why is it more difficult to share my transcript with a school that's half an hour away than it is to share a tiktok with someone in Japan? Why can't I use the login that I've used for 12 years to submit my homework to my teachers with, the body of work which is literally what my transcript summarizes, to login to YOUR system and approve the transfer?
They don't just not know how to export data into discrete cubes that can be imported into other systems, they think our cubes are dumb and old. And in one sense they are right, and it isn't their fault that the better more sophisticated methods of sharing data between systems is fucking monetized and data mined and surveyed by the government from here to hell and back. The reason we cling to these old systems is because they aren't smart, they are dumb in both senses of the word. The fact that they are inheriting a world where smarter systems are more oppressive isn't their fault.
seriously, though. i work in higher education, and part of my job is students sending me transcripts. you'd think the ones who have the least idea how to actually do that would be the older ones, and while sure, they definitely struggle with it, i see it most with the younger students. the teens to early 20s crowd.
very, astonishingly often, they don't know how to work with .pdf documents. i get garbage phone screenshots, sometimes inserted into an excel or word file for who knows what reason, but most often it's just a raw .jpg or other image file.
they definitely either don't know how to use a scanner, don't have access to one, or don't even know where they might go for that (staples and other office supply stores sometimes still have these services, but public libraries always have your back, kids.) so when they have a paper transcript and need to send me a copy electronically, it's just terrible photos at bad angles full of thumbs and text-obscuring shadows.
mind bogglingly frequently, i get cell phone photos of computer screens. they don't know how to take a screenshot on a computer. they don't know the function of the Print Screen button on the keyboard. they don't know how to right click a web page, hit "print", and choose "save as PDF" to produce a full and unbroken capture of the entirety of a webpage.
sometimes they'll just copy the text of a transcript and paste it right into the message of an email. that's if they figure out the difference between the body text portion of the email and the subject line, because quite frankly they often don't.
these are people who in most cases have done at least some college work already, but they have absolutely no clue how to utilize the attachment function in an email, and for some reason they don't consider they could google very quickly for instructions or even videos.
i am not taking a shit on gen z/gen alpha here, i'm really not.
what i am is aghast that they've been so massively failed on so many levels. the education system assumed they were "native" to technology and needed to be taught nothing. their parents assumed the same, or assumed the schools would teach them, or don't know how themselves and are too intimidated to figure it out and teach their kids these skills at home.
they spend hours a day on instagram and tiktok and youtube and etc, so they surely know (this is ridiculous to assume!!!) how to draft a formal email and format the text and what part goes where and what all those damn little symbols means, right? SURELY they're already familiar with every file type under the sun and know how to make use of whatever's salient in a pinch, right???
THEY MUST CERTAINLY know, innately, as one knows how to inhale, how to type in business formatting and formal communication style, how to present themselves in a way that gets them taken seriously by formal institutions, how to appear and be competent in basic/standard digital skills. SURELY. Of course. RIGHT!!!!
it's MADDENING, it's insane, and it's frustrating from the receiving end, but even more frustrating knowing they're stumbling blind out there in the digital spaces of grown-up matters, being dismissed, being considered less intelligent, being talked down to, because every adult and system responsible for them just
ASSUMED they should "just know" or "just figure out" these important things no one ever bothered to teach them, or half the time even introduce the concepts of before asking them to do it, on the spot, with high educational or professional stakes.
kids shouldn't have to supplement their own education like this and get sneered and scoffed at if they don't.
