God, I just realized Rei's parents would be HELL in Amnesia!Dabi. Like, bit of a time skip, the Togas' have gone to jail, Himiko's cleared of charges & started attending U.A. (intern w/RG, cause she gonna be a doc), Jin's finally healed up (mostly), Magne is hiding Compress in her apartment, Toya mostly feels like himself, Rei's FINALLY home, it’s all starting to settle . . . & Grandparents Himura show up to be like "Kids! We missed you!" (Spectre of AfO lingers behind them)

Honestly them trying to get their hands on Rei or the kids again is just. It's gonna be a plot eventually.

Like in the grand scheme of things in Chaos Children? While there's a few other reasons, it's one of the biggest reasons that Rei decides to not divorce Enji. Because, with her past mental health issues? Even if she's in the clear /now/, it'd be easy for her parents to petition courts to deem her unfit to take care of herself and try to get her placed in their custody. If Rei stays legally married to Enji though, even if they do deem her mentally unfit, then he's the one who would be responsible for her by default. (They do later set it up so that if something happens to him, then the kids get to decide who takes over.)

And there's. There's gonna be a bit in the main fic during the 'Enji and Rei really sit the kids down and discuss All That™' where it's mentioned that Rei's family has previously tried to talk to Natsuo and Fuyumi and very... framed it as 'oh we'd love to come see you but your dad is soooo controlling'. (Toya didn't get a letter because he was dead and Shoto hasn't gotten one because he's still underage and can't leave even if he wanted to) and begging to meet up and 'talk'.

So yeah they very much want to get control over Rei and/or the kids and just. Manipulate them into what they want. Which isn't gonna work because hot damn these kids would fight every step of the way. (which is funny because they.... really don't want the kids. Part of their thing is keeping the bloodline Pure of any Mutation Quirks, and Enji ruined that lmao).

Swinging back to Amnesia!Dabi though!

They wouldn't straight just show up on the doorstep because by this point they know that Enji would just yeet them out.

HOWEVER

They would absolutely see this as an opportunity! Toya doesn't remember anything, so he'd believe anything they tell him, right? Just send a letter, corner him alone when he goes out, so on and so forth. Feed him a bunch of lies that he won't know are lies because he can't remember what happened or what his past self did. Would he have been in contact with them during the time between moving out and 'dying'? He doesn't know. Maybe he would've?

Summary: A building as old as the palace contains its share of ghost stories, and Vexx certainly isn’t afraid to investigate them. Or so he thinks.

“What was that?”

Grabbing Nephien’s hand, Vexx pulls her away from their private dance, their footsteps masked by the orchestral music coming from the ballroom. Nephien takes the lead from him, finding a narrow staircase just before the Royal Guard patrol turns the corner.

Spiralling up two levels, Vexx and Nephien step into a wide hallway lined with statues like dread spectres rearing out of the gloom and paintings like black mirrors. Some kind of gallery, it seems. Wall-mounted lamps are set at regular intervals, dimmed to almost nothing to keep any lost partygoers from coming this way.

Even with the nearly non-existent light, Vexx can tell the space is too open to offer any hiding places if the patrol follows them up, and the back of his neck itches with a sharpshooter’s instinct to find cover. “Is the plan to distract them with bad art and escape while they roll around laughing?”

Nephien loops her arm through his and strolls down the marching rows of statues as if they’re fashionably late for some high tea instead of evading the RG. “This gallery is believed to be haunted. Most people avoid it at night.”

Framed in the gloom, she looks nothing short of phantasmal. Her gown is just a few shades darker than the silver hair cascading down her back, and the insane amount of fabric in her skirt gives her a dramatic air, thanks to Lucrezia deciding trains just have to be the latest court fashion.

Vexx’s mouth curls up. “Haunted, huh?”

The lights might be dim, but it’s enough to see Nephien eye him sidelong. “Don’t tell me you believe in ghosts, Serif.”

“You live in a haunted palace and you don’t want to look for ghosts?”

“No, because ghosts aren’t real. And if they were, it would be terribly rude to disturb them.”

The State Commission, having heard the reports of representatives of the rocket and space industry and the scientific community, decided to complete the Spectr-R project.

In early January, the Spectr-R satellite stopped communicating with the Mission Control Center. Attempts experts NPO them. S.A. But let’s start with light novels, as Bookwalker has a 5th volume of The Combat Baker and Automaton Waitress.

Dark Horse has the 3rd and final RG Veda omnibus, after much delay.

MICHELLE: I actually forgot this was even coming out.

ASH: (Really) slow but steady, I guess?

SEAN: J-Novel Club’s debut is An Archdemon’s Dilemma: How to Love Your Elf Bride (yes, they sensibly changed the title after they first announced it), which is apparently cute and adorable.

There’s also new volumes of Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash (10), I Saved Too Many Girls and Caused the Apocalypse (9), and The Magic in This Other World Is Too Far Behind! (5). J-Novel cornering the market in long light novel titles.

Kodansha. A whole lot. Starting with print, we have an 11th Fire Force, an 8th In/Spectre (always a favorite of mine) and the 3rd Toppu GP (in which instead of a harem it’s just bikes.)

Kodansha’s digital debut is Back Street Girls, which I have to admit has one of the more “…what, really?” premises out there. Three yakuza guys who’ve failed one too many times are punished by… getting sex reassignment surgery and becoming an idol group. I admit I’m curious, but let’s face it: it’s morbid curiosity.

MICHELLE: *dubious face*

ASH: Dubious morbid curiosity about sums it up for me, too. (Also, I had completely forgotten about this license.)

ANNA: Feeling enthusiastic about skipping this manga!

SEAN: But there’s plenty of other digital volumes out next week. Aoba-kun’s Confessions 7, Boarding School Juliet 4, Drowning Love 10, Kamikamikaeshi 3, Kasane 13, Lovesick Ellie 6, Those Summer Days 3, and Tokyo Alice 2. Tokyo Alice interests me most in that stack.

MICHELLE: I’m definitely down for Tokyo Alice, and the covers for Those Summer Days make me think I’ll like it as well, but mostly I’m happy for more Lovesick Ellie.

SEAN: One Peace has the 12th The Rising of the Shield Hero light novel.

Seven Seas has a debut with Accomplishments of a Duke’s Daughter (Koushaku Reijou no Tashinami). Based on a sadly unlicensed light novel, it’s part of a rising trend of isekai books where a young girl is reincarnated into a fantasy world… as the villain. And she’s about to get the “bad end”. What is she to do? This runs in Young Ace Up.

MICHELLE: That sounds kinda neat.

ASH: It does seem to be a fresher take on isekai than some others we’ve seen.

SEAN: And there is a 5th Bloom Into You, and a 5th Species Domain.

SuBLime gives us a 4th volume of A Strange and Mystifying Story. Honestly, after four volumes it should be less mystifying.

ASH: This is the first newly translated volume, too!

MICHELLE: *snerk* They did switch up the main couple in volume three, so as to keep the mystification going, one assumes.

SEAN: Vertical has a 4th omnibus of deeply strange Arakawa Under the Bridge.

Viz has a debut this week with That Blue-Sky Feeling (Sorairo Flutter), a Gangan Joker series about a new transfer student who hears a rumor that his classmate is gay. I’ve heard very good things about this one.

MICHELLE: I flipped through a review copy the other day and it looks pretty great. Looking forward to getting around to reading it.

ASH: Same!

SEAN: Viz also gives us the 2nd hardcover collection of Fullmetal Alchemist, the 31st Magi, and the 2nd Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle.

ASH: The first volume of Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle was delightful. I’m looking forward to reading more.

ANNA: It was uncomplicated fun.

The display in the 2016 model of the HP Spectre x360 15 4K turned out not to be as advertised, and it is possible that they are using the same display in the new model. The 2016 HP Spectre x360 15 display used the RG/BW Pentile matrix to cheat the ability to advertise the 4K UHD 3840x2160 resolution, without actually providing the full detail of the resolution.The new one could be using a completely different display, but given HP's track record with pentile I would say it is better to wait for reviews in order to confirm that.For now, the Lenovo Yoga 710 4K is a 940MX-equipped 15.6" 2-in-1 that has been confirmed to use a 100% honest true 4K display.I will make a follow-up post once I am able to confirm the type of display used in this laptop. via /r/technology

Since it takes hours to sort through all the bids and contact the winners and the donators, the auction will close at 10 am BST SATURDAY.

At that time I will email the winner and the donator.  

Once it has been decided where the donator of the item wants the donation to go (either Switchboard or the NHS)- the winner will email their receipt- (a screenshot is fine) to me and the donator.

After that the winner and the donator can sort out how they wish to exchange goods and whatnot (you don’t need to include me in those emails if you don’t want to).

I will set up a collection on AO3 as well and I will post once I’ve done that.
