Kamala Fact of the Day!

In 2006, as San Francisco's district attorney, Kamala Harris expressed support for the city's sanctuary city policy of not inquiring about immigration status in the process of a criminal investigation, saying it allowed people to come forward as witnesses to crimes when they might not have otherwise. She argued it is important that immigrants be able to talk with law enforcement without fear.

why im voting for kamala harris in 2024 (haven's version)

for those who don't know me, i'm Haven. I run this swiftiesforkamala blog which i started to raise awareness of Kamala Harris's presidential campaign.

So the reason why I'm voting for Kamala basically boils down to the fact that we haven't had someone this qualified for president since Obama. We haven't had someone who, let's face it, has enough wit and mindfulness of her role as a federal leader in YEARS. It was no secret to anyone that Biden maybe wasn't "all there" especially in the last year or two. I say that as someone who voted for him.

Trump of course is a whole other disaster. I could go on for paragraphs why he is not only unqualified to be president (again), but how destructive another 4 years with him would be..

I believe in abortion rights. I believe in women's rights. I believe that LGBTQ+ people deserve to be protected and respected in our society.

I believe that poor people deserve housing, healthcare, and food. I believe that our generation cannot be successful without student debt forgiveness. I believe that we REALLY need to get our fossil fuel consumption under control and turn towards renewable energy.

We can't afford to keep allowing the alt-right (i.e. Trump and his supporters) to win. They are here to assault our rights and our livelihoods. I do believe that Kamala is the best person for the job. She has an amazing track record especially when it comes to human rights.

It's so amazing to hear Kamala Harris speak. During her speech last night at the DNC, as she is accepting the nomination, she mentions that she will put our country over party. She will put Americans over herself. There will be a peaceful transition of power if she is elected and becomes president. There's so much optimism within her.

I've been waiting to feel this way about a political candidate for a long, long time.
