Heroes & Villains The DC Animated Universe - Paper Cut-Out Portraits and Profiles
Nails
Allie Langford was a student at Dakota Union High School. After experiencing a delayed reaction to the mutagenic effects of the Quantum Vapor, Allie transformed and became a girl of living steel. Worried that her friends and family would think her a freak, Allie did everything she could to hide her altered appearance. She wore a large, full-length coat and tried to cover the metallic sheen of her skin with lots of make-up. She distanced herself and became social isolated, spending much of her time searching the internet and seeking out a possible means of reversing her condition.
She came across a website for a clinic in Gotham City that reported to have an effective treatment for reversing the effects of the Quantum Vapor. Throwing caution to the wind, Allie stole a bunch of money and ran away to Gotham. Unbeknownst to her, this clinic was merely a front operated by the villains Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn. The dastardly pair were looking to recruit super powered ‘Bang Babies’ to do their bidding.
The two promised to cure Allie, but only after she helped them pull off a heist. Herein, Harley started referring to Allie as ‘Nails’ based upon her claw-like fingers. Desperate for the cure they promised, Allie went along with the plan. The trio raided a cargo ship carrying gold. Halfway through the heist, however, Allie became upset and demanded the cure. To her shock, Poison Ivy revealed that the cure was a fake, merely a ploy to lure in muscle. Allie was knocked off the ship yet was saved from drowning by Batman.
With the aid of Static, Batman and Robin were able to take down Harley and Ivy and afterward, Allie was escorted home to Dakota City. Back in Dakota, Allie was offered a place in a special project for addressing the need of those effected by the Quantum Vapor funded by the Wayne Foundation. In due time, Allie learned to better control her powers and regain her former appearance.
Actress T'Keyah Keymáh provided the voice for Allie with he reluctant villain appearing in the first episode of the third season of Static Shock, ‘Hard as Nails.’
