Meet SOAP my baby my darling my babiest dibby darling

She’s a puppet who’s trying to find her mom! But accidentally found her dad instead who turned out to be an ancient dragon that now just runs a newspaper and writes novels while taking care of his adoptive daughter

An ancient dragon who now resides among humans to pass his days his mind forever on the witch choux the love of his life that suddenly disappeared 800 years ago. When one day his daughter chip opened the door to a girl dressed in all pink with a face exactly like his beloved (uh ohh get that paternity test out dude)

He took her in and is now trying to help her find her mom cuz he’s like 99% sure he’s her dad but getting it from the woman herself would be useful. Nonetheless he sees her as his own as she’s taken up a role of big sister to his adoptive daughter Chip.

Chip!

Chip’s a 14 year old girl who was dropped off at the newspaper office as a baby. Taken in by dried lavender she had grown up mostly hanging around her dad after school. She had a difficult time making friends as she’s quite loud and blunt. But on her 14th birthday her dad got her a Polaroid camera to motivate her to go outside more and try to encourage her creativity. When soap arrived in her life it instantly changed her life for the better and she clung on HARD. While soap is more monotone but curious Chip is a little bit of a know it all and loves explaining everything in great detail. Chip is unaware of who choux is but is here to help regardless!

Tess & Isaac!

These 2! Are from a project i’m working on about a group of young creatives getting a chance for easier work opportunities as they help revive the creative sector of a region recently struck by disaster, tess & isaac are the main characters so i’m putting them on artfight!

Both are here to help bring awareness but also bring positivity back to the masses, a story about the positive impact art can have on the world!

Tess is a starting off idol she got some fame with her own music but mostly got this opportunity to get out of the house, she’s determined but also a little clumsy … mostly caused by her reeeealy long hair

Isaac is a very known figure, having been in acting & music since he was a child is a bit weary of new connections but took on the project because his agent basically told him he has no friends and should make some (rude but true)

The project is hosted in the heart of the big city with all the young creatives being housed on 3 floors of the biggest hotel of the region with the owner being the host of the project!

Tess & isaac got off on the wrong foot at the start, but they seemed to be roomed next to eachother!

And thanks to tess’s cat (he’s allowed to be there) consistently going from her balcony to isaac’s they eventually got to talking and ooooo they are sooooo cute!

I have a lot of lore for this project so migh5 be more on them over here!

One biological (no i wont go into the details) a young girl named Katia, a demigod who’s skin is just as icy as her father sasha but has the bluest eyes like her mom (yes she calls him mom ) cassian

Is delwyn a 11 year old who’s very ill she’s cassian’s biological sister but due to having never met her parents she considers cass her dad and eversince she moved into the castle she’s gotten used to calling sasha her dad too!

These 2 are my favorite boyos i love them and i love their kids so i ofcourse had to add them to artfight aswell! (With my bestie’s permission)

Ahh, I do enjoy myself some good Cupcakke and Ayesha. I got both of em on my playlist, haha! I listen to some pretty out there music as well, if hyper-pop counts as weird. Who knows~ Anyway somehow this became Consort!Diluc and I apologize, my brain went running with this ask and it became.. this.

Anyway!

I imagine it would be a normal day like any other in Mondstadt. The city is bustling, Flora giving people cute little flower crowns to promote her flower shop, bards singing about various topics and styles, Knights of Favonius helping people find lost cats, etc etc.

In the middle of the town square, stands your current puppets (thats what I call the"vessles" in my au) , in this case the traveller. I imagine depending on the emotional connection/friendship level you have to each of your puppets, people can sometimes hear you through them. Like a walking speaker or smth.

Since the twins don't got a friendship level, its just the equivalent of maxed out. They're crafting up some condensed resin for you, since you were AFK and they knew you were going to do so anyway. They were doing their best to ignore the loud music that they are emitting whilst doing so, Timaeus and others looking at them with wide eyes.

It isn't often your non-puppets hear obvious signs of the creator themselves, ya know! Literally everyone likes listening to you, whether it's Lofi music, rock, pop, or your voice itself!

Whenever they hear your voice from one of your more connected puppets, everyone is just filled with bubbles of happiness and excitement. Like! yay! I am directly in the High Gods presence! Sorta! Not really but its stilly exciting!

This time though, its a bit more of a "Ayo what the fuck?" sort of feeling instead of the usual.

Loudly blaring from their beings, was Cupcakke, and the iconic song "Squidward Nose".

Jean? Red faced, making sure no children are in the area, hands covering her face as she does her best, and fails, to think on who "dora the explorer" is, instead thinking about her god wanting a dick apparently as large as "squidwards nose". She has the church and the sisters notate this in a book. Might be some form of holy dildo or something, who knows.

Lisa is laughing her ass off the entire time, patting her on the back as she helps annotate notable things in the song with a few of the sisters from the Cathedral. Gotta keep their holy bible updated, afterall. She is tempted to write a new thesis for the scholars at Sumeru just for kicks and giggles about how their High God could potentially be more human than formerly assumed. She has a great new evidence, after all~ then again, the scholars at Sumeru are batshit crazy, so many not.

Venti is right at the travellers side, committing the song to his memory the best he can. Definitely getting in the way of them actually crafting the Resin, much to the twin's annoyance. He is always at whoevers side when you are playing any type of music, the music is completely new to him after all. You can bet he will be doing his best to sing the song at any late night tavern performances, even if he isn't getting all the references outside the obvious sexual stuff. Its an instant hit at Angels share, not just because Venti is singing it, but because the High God apparently likes the song as well. Also because its a great song.

Speaking of Angels Share, Diluc's face, is obviously, also as red as tomato when he hears Venti reciting the song later. He enjoys very much being a puppet, and he is definitely incredibly devoted to the High God. (aka you). He has to be devoted if he wants to fully commit himself to you, and possibly be your consort if you come down to Teyvat one day! This entire situation is completely uncouth, much to his dismay. He thinks its ruining your image before he realizes it is simply expanding it. Also, he is very upset. He is packing down there, definitely. But now he is self conscious because what if squidwards nose is better? He should honestly really kick out Venti, even is he is an Archon. Its getting in the way of his business.

Kaeya and Rosaria know about Diluc's somewhat obsessive worship and desire to be your consort, and they also know exactly why thats he is so red faced and upset and Venti's song. And because they absolutely enjoy it, they keep on giving Venti bottles of alcohol for encores of the song. And more, and more. Until Diluc has to excuse himself and leave. They are laughing the entire fuckin time. They always enjoy listening to your music whenever its playing, and they definitely agree that you should play similar songs more often. Its incredibly amusing.

The Space Between Shadows

Written for the prompt sent in by @criticallynerdy - a hand kiss given in response to a sudden feeling of delight at the other’s existence. (shadowgast)

Emotions never left Caleb. They're the flame in his heart, the whet to his thoughts, the puppeteer behind the curtain of his more questionable impulses no matter the direction they lean. Emotion, he knows in the way he knows a book or a theory.

But feelings.

The first time joy flickered within him, he'd thought he was having a panic attack and nearly had caused one in his attempt to wrestle and carve the unknown sensation into a form he recognized. But then laughter had spilled from the inside, light in his bones and heady with the release, and he had understood. Feelings were emotions made physical. One form to the next. 

He knows a little something about that, at least.

Emotions are constant, but he’s found that feelings come at the strangest times. They're in the library, him and Essek, and somewhere a few rows down comes the occasional scratch of Beau's pen, a whisper of pages turning.

"Here." Essek's long, dark finger comes to rest on a portion of the arcane equation snarled across the pages of the book between them. "Do you see it?"

Caleb looks, does his best to empty his mind of what he expects - how the enchantment should function - and see only what is there. He is aware of Essek glancing sideways at him as he worries at the information (affection is the sensation that a star somewhere has bloomed; he may never see it, but he knows it in his chest) and then, finally, the arcane snag shifts -

"Oh. Oh, of course, yes." He gropes for his pencil with the hand not holding Essek's under the table and quickly scratches out a symbol to replace it with another. "That is much more in line with the proponents of Dunamancy, no? Potentiality substituted in place of a law of transmutation."

He suspects sometimes that feelings are also new for Essek - if anyone were as inclined as he to take them apart and split them into quantifiable and intellectual pieces, it would be him. His smiles come more frequently and often seem to catch him by surprise, but the one he's giving Caleb now is writ with soft intent and a kind of quiet pride that stirs the shame from its sleep wrapped around his bones.

"What is it?"

If drow blush, it is nearly impossible to tell, but Essek's eyes have always given him away. He looks back at the book now, the crease between his white eyebrows drawing slowly back into place. "I am reminded of the improbability of all of this at the strangest of times." He squeezes Caleb's hand lightly in emphasis. "No matter, allow me a moment to configure the new information and see if the theory holds."

There's something else welling up in Caleb as he watches Essek's face fall into quiet concentration - a coalescence, a mixture, a mutt of a beast that wants in a thousand conflicting directions but manages, overall, to fill him with warmth. The improbability of it all - that's a very good way to put it. It is improbable that they be here inside of the physical manifestation of Caleb's love for them all, that Essek should be one of them and drawn to him, of all people - not for the way he bests his demons but for the way he fights them. For the chance that he could - the potential.

Improbable, that he be able to lift Essek's hand almost absentmindedly to his mouth, that the lips brushing his skin be curled, so slightly, upwards.

Essek's face does not change. Caleb knows exactly what it takes to break his concentration; the contact will register once his mind has finished its current task, and whether or not he chooses to mention it doesn't matter. Caleb was not always a stranger to emotions too big for his body - once, he wore them like the overcoat draped over him now and drew as much comfort from them. But they are unwieldy now, unfamiliar to this new adult body, and so for now the overwhelm of them translates not as a second skin but as an overflow to be contained.

That he should have a hand to kiss when he spills is a quiet and mundane delight meant more so for Caleb himself than for Essek - to find himself both capable of such a gesture and in the company of a man who strives to feel worthy of it - of him…once, it was impossible. Today, it feels improbable. One day, if they are very lucky, it will seem that all of this was inevitable.

Caleb returns their hands to Essek's lap, smiling to himself. Improbability: the space between zero potential and realized potential, which are the same inert state from two different directions. Transmutation, he thinks, is simply the mechanism through which one becomes the other.

Maybe they'll wrangle it all one day into something tangible and applicable - explain it in such a way that potential becomes as malleable as fire or stone. For now, it is enough to sit quietly just like this, holding Essek's hand and existing in the space between all of it. For now, it is enough that it is theirs.

Welp, I think my screen tablet is dying only after a few months of use. I did buy a cheap one (it’s a huion) but I wasn’t expecting it to die after FOUR MONTHS of use. I still have my old Wacom somewhere, yeah, but it’s very old and thus not very good compared to my new (and already dying) one. Like the pressure levels are 4 times better with my Huion + my wacom tablet isn’t a screen tablet (it’s an INTUOS 5 M, if you’re wondering) To be honest, I’m not even sure what’s wrong with my tablet. It’s like it stops detecting my stylus and its pressure 2 times out of 3, sometimes while I’m still drawing a line. I have no idea if my tablet is to blame or if it’s the stylus itself. Anyway, guess I’ll have to either deal with it or go back to my wacom tablet until I can afford a new one. This time, a Wacom one, because I don’t want to buy a cheap one again and risks problems again...... And the cheapest one fitting my needs is like 800€. Oof. Like, I had heard huion tablets didn’t last long, BUT FOUR MONTHS ? That’s awful. At least, the Huion tablet allowed me to know if screen tablets would help me go back to drawing digitally, which it totally did. I think this tablet is one of the reason I started writing again too (the other one being me starting to take antidepressants). I have so much more trouble drawing with a normal tablet in comparison. Anyway, yeah, if drawing becomes impossible for me, I’ll probably stop drawing for my fanfic chapters. Fortunately, I have drawings made in advance for the next chapters of “Reliving An Old Nightmare”, but that’s not the case for “The Part-Time Puppeteer”. Sorry it comes to this. I hope I’ll be able to buy myself a new tablet soon, and I’ll tell you when I do.

I have indeed been posting about several very pretty pairings.  Because I have no self control! *finger guns*  But! because I have no self control and I don’t mind being a search engine, I can definitely give you a hand.

The pairings should primarily be from mo doa zu shi and tian guan ci fu; scum villain probably only started showing up a day or two ago.  These links are to my tags; the later links will be to good sites for the novels. I don’t have good sites for anything else because I’m a very low-profile p*rate

Before I get too far into anything, the quick and dirty of cultivation is: martial arts + meditation/daoism? = magic powers.  These magic powers are then typically put to use fighting evil supernatural powers.  As a character’s cultivation improves, their power level increases and they can become immortal or even gods.  All of this in the general but vague context of ancient china.  

This summary is brought to you after flailing about in an entirely new-to-me cultural backdrop for the past 2ish months.  Now, back to the pretty boys.

mo doa zu shi, or The Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation or The Founder of Diabolism, follows Wei WuXian (goth) who has been brought back to life and Lan WangJi (angelic) who has no intention of losing his high school crush a second time as they solve mysteries.  More of a low to mid fantasy, there is a large focus on the various sects or factions and the diplomatics between them.  Originally a chinese web novel, it also has a manhua/manga adaptation, a donghua/anime adaptation and a drama adaptation.  The novel, manhua and donghua all go by the above names but the drama goes by The Untamed.  It’s on netflix.  Very good.  Everyone loves the bunnies.  Be prepared for feels.  Including feels for a corpse.

tian guan ci fu, or Heaven Official’s Blessing, follows Xie Lian (angelic), a disgraced heavenly official who has been wandering the world for 800 years, who ascends to heaven (for the 3rd time) and Hua Cheng (goth), a great ghost king and scourge of the heavens, as they fall in love and tear down the government.  Definitely would be high fantasy, the characters are primarily gods or ghosts.  As soon as you get over the fact that the becoming a god/ascending to heaven that everyone aspires to essentially means they become a bureaucrat for all of eternity, it makes perfect sense.  Actually, it really is more accessible than mdzs in terms of needed background knowledge; it explains itself quite well.  Glancing through my tag, there’s a bit more variety to it.  Many characters are very fun.  The other pairing that shows up rather often is colloquially known as beefleaf;  Shi QuanXuan (angelic), a super peppy cinnamon roll, and Ming Yi (goth) who reluctantly cross-dresses* with them.  (*does it still count as cross-dressing if no one has a corporeal body anymore and occasionally decide I’m going to be x gender today?)  Anyway, this is also originally a chinese web novel.  Both are by the same author.  There is a recently started manhua adaptation that is very lovely and a donghua adaptation should be starting later this year.  SUPER soft.  Intense but doesn’t take itself too seriously.  Great cast of characters.

Scum Villain’s Self-Saving System is the third, or rather the first, novel by this same author.  This one requires a little bit more trope/genre awareness but it’s well done and has good translations so that makes it a nice place to get into the trope if you’re looking for one.  This is a transmigration story.  The premise of transmigration is (or at least seems to be) that a person dies but, instead of dying, they wake up somewhere else as someone else.  The particular brand of transmigration found in scum villain is the waking up as a character of a book that is destined to die.  Then the story becomes how the transmigrated person changes the character’s relationships and interactions and what the repercussions of those changes are.  Here, Shen QingQiu (angelic) transmigrates to become the teacher of Luo BingHe (goth), the protagonist who just wants to love his teacher but all of his advances end up interpreted as death threats.  The other angelic/goth pairing you’re most likely to see here is Shang QingHua/Mo BeiJun but I have not yet gotten far enough to give them a proper comment.  From what I understand, there were once plans for all sorts of adaptations but they are all cancelled or on indefinited hiatus.  Very campy.  Very trope-y.  Has never heard of the 4th wall.  Very funny.

In a world where magic is as natural as breathing, and the gods are known to actually answer some prayers, a ship is sent to keep the fragile peace between 2 countries that has been at war for 60 years. But guess what? The ship crashes almost immediately. Now the 3 only survivors, a runaway monk, with unexplained powers, the noble son and peace advocate, and a chaos child with an affinity for magic washes ashore on an unknown island and is forced together by a magical compass. With navigation, and magic being broken, it is not an easy task to cross the ocean. If only they knew of the chaos which is unravelling outside their comfortable lives. If they thought this adventure was going to be uneventful, they are in for a surprise. Why should you read it? It is a mix between the Road to Eldorado, and Avatar the Last Airbender, and if that short pitch is not enough, I don't know how else to sell it. Hey all! My comic is a horror comic that features some LGBTQA+ characters in the main cast. Today is also my monthly update on public sites. I do four pages at the end of the month on Tapas, Webtoons, and my website. (Patreon gets weekly updates.) It is a story of a picturesque town with a dark secret and what will be done to keep that secret. on the topic of the LED (mostly) re: connor and 900 specifically (as simon’s more or less functions as you might expect)

this is copied and edited some from my old blog so. i’ll try to fix the wording to make it more sensical but. there’s some complicated contradictions in here that i’m too lazy to fix at present. i also kinda started rambling about more then yet partially related led business. but it got long then, and longer edited, so under the cut it goes.

so the rk series (specifically 800/900) led functions differently than a normal android led (which would make sense given events and shit, lemme explain), but mostly because, with specificity to connor, he’s supposed to hunt androids and particularly deviants, and they need a method of long range control to make sure he does that. why the led? lemme explain basic leds first

so leds, primarily, appear to be aesthetic. a way to be like ‘this is an android’. for the most part, they remain a clear, bright blue. red rings typically indicates deviant, if the deviant hasn’t already removed their led (which seems to be the closest thing to pain an android feels, if markus’ face says anything) but could also just be because it’s forcibly removing something from one’s skin – and even if they can’t feel pain, they can definitely feel the twisting as the led disconnects. an android’s ring can also flash red momentarily after experiencing a shock (emotionally, physically…pick something)

yellow rings are harder to pinpoint exactly what they represent, but it seems that most often its a state of ‘thinking’. whether this means an android going through an internal database, deciphering an emotion they’re feeling and don’t understand, or processing orders – it’s a state of calculations, however quick. it can also happen, sometimes but not always, during connections (as in, sending a money transfer, or when connor makes his reports.) signifying a transfer of data.

this is most prominent when markus converts androids. sometimes, they don’t go red right away – instead, they go yellow (see, the androids you can free at the cyberlife warehouse). this might be for androids who have not experienced enough to know true deviancy yet, but yellow rings are sort of ‘can be any thing for a number of reason’ but we can typically (and usually rightly so) assume thinking is happening to some degree, whether through coded calculation or through actual processing of a situation.

it’s also quite often that an android whose ring has gone yellow, or is yellow for a period of time, goes red.

in some cases, it seems the leds act, like i’ve said, as connections (see, markus at the paint shop) but i think they’re more like antennas. they act as a beacon for the machines to tune into each other (i say machines, because i assume it may also work not just android to android but android to atm if needed, or vending machine, or something, like during some of the interactions you can have as markus in the stratford tower). it enhances, and perhaps speeds up, the transfer of data. (have you seen those phones that can share charge but simply touching each other? like that) however this led is not necessary, it appears, because at the stratford tower, markus is able to do the same transfer of information without his led. (please note my slight hesitance on this due to markus being an RK model, and also that he touches that receptionist android at some point during this process. though if we look at the freedom march, it also seems he is able to send short distance transfers without touching, and does not have his led there either. it can be argued, however, that if he had the led still, he could reach further. i digress)

but if it is the case, then it’s safe to assume that without leds, transfer is merely slowed from like. a 2sec to a 5 sec process or something. nothing big. just enough to factor that the signal doesn’t have that direct led to led link and has to actually go through typical data transfer processes. all in all, the led has a function, but is not entirely necessary for the function.

i can also, and will be, arguing that a good portion of the led is also sort of a gps tracker, and once removed, blinds cyberlife to where an android is. not that cyberlife is actively seeking out any of these androids, because several of them still have their leds when they get to jericho, but it does give them a sort of access to know ‘this android is still alive’ versus ‘this one has been deactivated’, and when removed, gives them a sort of blankness regarding that android, and might even register as ‘deactivated or otherwise missing’

alright, so how does this add up to connor and/or 900?

okay so connor’s is, of course, standard in the aesthetic department. a simple blue ring in the temple. however what’s different is that, as i said way up there, cyberlife is sending him to hunt other androids, and there’s very little room to screw up there. the world has definitely improved, but keeping a leash that long while maintaining the idea you aren’t is still fairly difficult. so the leash is attached via the led. the data signal in connor’s led isn’t something he can just pop out and whatever -- i mean, yes, he can pop out the led, but because of his specific design and intention, he can’t disable the leash. which can be kinda of complicated to understand since i basically just said that the led in normal androids also doesn’t disrupt functionality when removed, but the problem here is that other androids use it a simple data transfer, so the led aesthetic ranks higher than it’s actual use, and disabling it is mostly just disabling the aesthetic to make an android look more human. yes, the functionality is still there, albeit potentially delayed. connor can remove the aesthetic bit, pop out the led, but it’s function runs so much deeper than a mere antenna, a heightened data processing that, even if normal leds when removed don’t cause a serious lack of functionality, connor’s removed does nothing making it therefore virtually unnecessary to remove it. the led of a normal android removed may give them a better chance of hiding in plain sight, but if connor’s is removed, it essentially triggers cyberlife to be like ‘this is a problem something has happened’ which makes connor more vulnerable. but i think i’m talking in circles now so... moving on.

it’s a lot more complicated than that. the led is what controls the garden (which is basically the control center, the internal command) – when connor makes a report to amanda, his led goes yellow. he almost goes into rest mode, like a computer sleeping, the led indicating this. the led’s signal is linked through his programming, through his memories and his harddrive and into his decision making and his biocomponents. it acts as a method for cyberlife to make sure they have complete control over the situation. the led is a kill switch, essentially. if it’s removed, as i said, it warns cyberlife, and they can choose to shut him down and send out a new connor with his led still intact. the led is the leash.  it can monitor his software instability, it can change the calculations to make sure he’s choosing the choices cyberlife wants. it can even go red and force deviancy by creating questions in connor’s mind. by being the connection to cyberlife, and by being the internal hub that controls the zen garden and thus controls connor’s reactions to the world based off of amanda’s incessant questioning, the led basically grants cyberlife an impossible amount of control over who connor is and what he does.

most of the time, this doesn’t happen for machine connor because he’s doing the mission. yay, ta-da, cyberlife has their puppet. but let’s talk about deviant connor for a moment, when he thinks he won. the led forces him back into the mind as it lets cyberlife take control (to kill whoever is leading the deviants at the time), and connor, for the first time, is realizing that the situation has never been in his hands. he’s stuck inside his own led trying to break out before he does something he’ll regret.

now if he can’t, then he’s trapped in there, probably until they do something about it. but if he can, then naturally his first instinct is that he has to remove the led asap – breaking free, getting out through the backdoor is one thing, but he can only do it so many times, and even if it is permanent, he’d live in constant fear that it’d happen again. remove the led, remove the leash, right? but the the led is only the place where the leash clips on -- removing led doesn’t remove the entire inner link that cyberlife has, and sometimes there will be quiet orders or little bits in his programming that say to do this or tell him not to do that even though it’s against his own thoughts, and he’d have to find someone capable of working on androids to get that out of him. removing the led will not remove cyberlife, and may be more dangerous for him than he would’ve been keeping it. connor’s led is basically the puppet-master hub and you can’t believe what it tells you, especially mine, because i like to think at some point in his machine verse, even connor learns how to change the color of the led on command.

now i don’t typically write deviant connor except post-revolution where he succeeded in his mission of stopping markus, and he’s therefore deactivated only to be woken up later. because of his deactivation, when he’s reawoken, this connection isn’t gone but the zen garden is no longer functional, so there’s no real need to remove the led. in most cases he doesn’t.

anyway, the most important part of this stems from his fake deviancy verse, where he pretends to go deviant to get close to those in jericho and take them down from the inside. in this, he declines removing his led because 1) cyberlife would probably kill him outright because even if he was faking, that blinds them a little and they want that control and 2) by keeping his led, he’s keeping his place in the DPD as a double agent without them knowing what’s happening, and it also means that cyberlife can have access to everything that connor sees within jericho. so he doesn’t get rid of it.

so moving on to 900; 900′s led functions in much the same way as connor’s regarding his particular connection to cyberlife. the changes is that here, there is no amanda. the zen garden still exists to some degree, but is more of a place for 900 to go during stasis than it is a place for him to reflect on choices and be pushed towards cyberlife’s desires. with most rk900 models, there isn’t ever a moment where they’d consider removing the led, and in general removing it would signal a self destruct. the rk900 series also have a separate chip that is a separately coded ‘kill switch’ which, when activated, can send all the rk900s into terminator mode and cause mass chaos, and attempting to remove this switch will also more than likely trigger a self destruct. it’s a way to prevent the rk900s from successfully deviating, if they should ever actually get through the intense amounts of coding made to prevent it.

my point here is that cyberlife took what they knew of the 800 model and made it stronger, which is the most obvious in 900 because he’s the one they sent to the dpd to watch over those that had been around connor. for the most part, they don’t interfere, because 900 doesn’t have a precise mission that they’re trying to manipulate, but there are two instances that i’ve plotted out in which they do attempt to take over 900 in a way very similar to how they manipulated connor into almost shooting markus -- the first is in shutting down his decision making to try to make him shoot gavin, since gavin is his partner and cyberlife doesn’t like that 900 is choosing to be attached. the second is when this kill switch is activated. you can tell if 900 is not under his own control because when cyberlife takes him over, his led goes red and a thin line of red will circle his irises. they’ve essentially made it so the led in 900 functions as more of a chain than it does a leash; no, 900 doesn’t get stuck in a zen garden fighting his way out, but he does, if he wishes to stop, have to rewire his own coding. in being brainwashed, he can do this if he wants to. in having the kill switch activated, he cannot. the led essentially assures that 900 remains a machine, whereas with connor it was assurance that cyberlife could force deviancy if they wanted.

900 does not remove his led because he sees no need; for the most part, even if cyberlife has that chain attached to him, he can shut down their attempts to manipulate him because of how strongly they coded him and because of his attachment to gavin. they are there to make sure he doesn’t decide to go against their wishes, but more or less have no control over how he chooses to do things. so even if 900 does a lot of bullshit that humans would rather he didn’t, because the zen garden is not technically a thing, there’s nowhere for them to send him while they change stuff.

however, the kill switch cannot be deactivated by himself, as it is embedded within the code for his basic programming, so it requires someone else to fuck with. in activating this, they just turn off the ‘social’ part of 900, which prevents him from properly recognizing the situation and adjusting his behavior accordingly, allowing them to just set him on a war path in which he wouldn’t recognize even gavin’s face.

it’s important, also, to note, that the only person who can safely interface with 900 is connor, because connor’s led has similar qualities, and because connor can navigate through the bullshit that is cyberlife’s programming for control. that means only connor is capable of ending the kill switch activation by interfacing to directly enter the led powerhouse and put a pause on the destruction long enough for someone to hold 900 down and remove the chip. this is dangerous for connor, however, because he opens himself up to that cyberlife control via the led to led interaction.

now, anyone can interface with connor because his led allows for deviancy, so it allows people in. 900′s was built without that allowance, so interfacing will actually be painful for a different android because their led, if they still have it, won’t be able to process that much data at once, and if they don’t have it, then they won’t even have an antenna by which to process the data to begin with. he can, if he so desires, allow people to interface with choice parts of himself, but he doesn’t really.

and in terms of aesthetic, 900′s is far more calm, which is in line with his lack of acknowledging emotions. his led rarely goes yellow except if he’s in true stasis, and for the most part is that soft blue. it will flicker red if he’s angry (such as if someone threatens gavin) but generally, you won’t be able to use the led to decipher his own moods.

and then with 900, he can’t remove the led unless he has also already removed the kill switch chip and even then, he usually doesn’t because removing it would mean that he wishes to appear human, and 900 never believes himself to not be a machine, so that would be just. ridiculous to fathom for him. the most he’ll typically do is cover it if, for instance, he’s in a relationship with gavin, and gavin wants him to for whatever reason. but yeah 900 won’t typically allow his led to be remove, especially pre-kill switch.

Something I noticed about this moment:

This shot, though lasting only about 5 seconds, is one of the most interesting ones in the video. while it obviously fucks us all up with dread, it also brings up some questions for me, namely: is this Anti, or is this someone else? If this is Anti, why does he seem so different?

The reason I’m wondering this is because this shot is so different to any we’ve seen post Say Goodbye, both in terms of action and visuals. After his first proper video, we haven’t seen Anti so still. His stare and posture does remind me of Dark Silence, but even in that video he was advancing on Chase. Here, he just watches, and is gone by the next shot of the interior. This is ominous, sure, but not out right threatening. 

Another thing to notice is the cleanness of the shot. Aside from the lights on the window, which some people have suggested are supposed to be glitches, this is probably the least glitchy shot with Anti in it. It’s sharp and clear, and the only real glitch is the buzz we hear for a split second, which i believe we also heard in his aproach in DS. So why isn’t he glitching? Compare this to the shear noise of his last appearance, which, according to the vacancy notice, happened on the same day.

Finally, the strangest thing, in my opinion, about this shot, and is the thing I noticed first, is that he doesn’t have a wound. One of the most identifiable aspects of his design outside of the glitches is the cut across his neck, yet here it’s very much missing. I’m struggling to tell if it’s present in Dark Silence as the video, even in HD is grainy and hard to make out, particularly as his head is always lowered. I think it might not be, which makes this one of the weaker points, but I think that there’s a difference between the absence of an aspect of a character in video where it is difficult to make out details, and in a video where it is notibley clear. Once again, not since before Say Goodbye have we seen very clearly an Anti without his blood. 

As such, I’m questioning if this is Anti or not. On the one hand, many of these can be explained away in some form- The lights are a substitute for glitches that convey the same idea in a subtle and visually pleasing way, Anti doesn’t need to be big and active anymore- We’ve seen again and again that his presence in a video is enough, and maybe Sean just didn’’t feel like putting on a bunch of fake blood to film a 5 second clip in public. On the other, it all feels too simple in a way. Maybe I just enjoy convoluted twists, but I just don’t think this is the same person we’ve seen in KJS and SG, and I feel like Sean is very detail oriented with things like this, given the way the community analyses everything. 

In my opinion, there are three possibilities:

1. This is genuinly Anti and it’s just a combination of ‘charater development’- the evolution from wild to calculating- artistic licence and the assumtion that no one will get so caught up on the 5 second clip that they write a 800 word essay on it

2. This isn’t Anti, it’s Jack. I don’t really have any evidence for this outside of ‘I really like the idea that Jack is kind of going wild for revenge, or thinks hes still dreaming or something’. This is basically just the idea that maybe Jack’s not in his body, he’s in Anti’s and is trying to get back control (because, also, side note: isn’t the body that Anti uses just Jack’s? I mean he’s posessed and it’s his body he ‘kills’.) The ‘I know what he did to me’ from the may mayhem could have been a sort of mental awakening rather than a physical one. I’ll be honest though, as cool as this would be, I’m not sure it is acurate.

3. This is Anti, but not from after Dark Silence, but before SG. there’s one glitch in ‘scarier than it looks| The Cubical’ at 3:50 that i just spent 10 mins looking for where Anti is just stood in the background, watching jack.

Aside from this being the first full body view of Anti, there’s a suprising calm to it, considering that this video was not only in the middle of the OG madness, but was on the 30th, the day before SG came out. in fact, he only blinks in, looks over his shoulder at Jack, and blinks away again. there’s just a total lack of particals or strange visual affects. It might be, then, that the Anti in that car is from the same point in time as the one in that video. wether that means car-anti is from the past, or mattress-anti is from the future, I’m not sure, but I’d argue that the latter seems more likely. Basically, these anomalies may well come down to good old “time is broken”

4. It may well be one of the others, controlled by Anti. It could be JJ- we know from his Halloween video that his mustache is apparently removable (??????????) and in his last two major appearances, anti has not actually spoken, and we all know about Anti, JJ and puppets.

How did you become such a good writer? I hear a lot about writing workshops, but I was wondering if you had any experience that might have encouraged your writing to be so good?

Awww! That’s so sweet of you! Hahah thanks for the compliment :)  Ummm, to be perfectly honest?? This isn’t very helpful for people just starting out with writing, but I’ve been writing since I was legit like 3 years old. I’ve been writing almost as long as I’ve been talking - I even have a bone in my middle finger that formed wrong in it’s developmental stages because that’s where I hold a pen or pencil, and I wrote so much as a kid that the bone became deformed. This is gross, but here’s a picture haha: 

Ok that literally just looks like I’m flipping off the camera, but that knob at the tip is where my bone got all fucked up because of how long I’ve been writing haha. Ignore my nasty nail beds.  So I guess to answer your question, I’ve never really done anything like classes or practice to improve my writing - it’s something that just kind of flows with me. I’ve been doing it as long as I can remember.  I can list out some advice that might be helpful to people just starting out? These are some rules I live by:   1) READ READ READ - I never realized how much reading helps my writing until I binge read like 800 fanfics in one year and my writing improved exponentially. So seriously, READ.  2) When you’re writing, never go for the obvious. Don’t just say someone is angry, say something like...”their eyes are flashing with carefully concealed torrents of fury”...or something. That sounds sooo cheesy when I write it out like that, but literally, SHOW, don’t tell. It’s not just raining outside - “the skies have finally cracked and dirty rivulets of rainwater are carrying discarded cigarette butts along the city gutters like ships run aground”. Metaphors and similes are your BEST FRIEND in writing. You can play with them soooo much - just be careful not to go overboard. It’s okay to just say someone is angry or that it’s just raining, but if you want to hold a reader’s attention, mix it up and don’t write something bland like, “Tom woke up. It was raining outside. He was angry, because his alarm didn’t go off. He got out of bed and stomped to the shower...” etc. Know what I mean? You’re an artist painting a picture with words. You’re not giving a lecture, you’re creating art. Make it pretty! #metaphors  <- Trend that shit.  3) When you’re writing a scene, don’t just write it, SEE it. See it in your head. People don’t just sit stiffly and talk like robots when they’re having a conversation. People DO things - people fidget. “Sally ponders what Phil said, chewing on the inside of her cheek mindlessly and brushing a stray hair back from her face. She feels a swell of uncertainty grow in her chest like a flower that only blooms at night, under the mask of the moon.”  Oh my GOD everything I write here sounds so cheesy - but does that make sense? You really have to SEE it in your head when you’re writing. Like you’re watching a movie in your own brain. And then translate everything you’re seeing to paper. Not just the surface things like dialogue - when people are talking, there’s a fly on the wall. A clock is ticking, there’s a train horn in the distance, the wind picks up outside, someone crosses their arms to hide what they’re thinking, the oven dings in the next room, someone shakes their head and bites their thumbnail, someone notices the wallpaper is peeling in the corner and goes to pick at it, etc etc etc. You have a whole setting to play with, you just have to close your eyes and see it.  4)  And when you’re actually writing a story, you have the advantage of planting little seeds of internal emotions going on in your characters. In movies, it’s hard to really get a good internal monologue from the characters. But in writing, you can dig as deep as you want into your character’s brains. And that’s REALLY fun, so play with it. Characterization is soooo important. Plot is important too, but who gives a fuck about a plot if a reader doesn’t really care what happens to the characters living the plot? I spend a lot of time on characterization - I’m especially fond of giving characters tragic backstories :P It makes them so interesting to write, I feel like a puppeteer. And you can reveal their backstories any way you wish, whether it be flashbacks, PTSD, looking through old photos, etc. Even through a conversation with another character. They’re literally Playdoh, mold them however you want, that’s the best part.  5)   Foreshadowing is your friend too. I make sure I have stories outlined before I start writing them. That doesn’t mean you have to outline it to a T - it just means you have a basic idea of beginning, middle, and end. You know how the story is going to end and all the little secrets you plan to reveal in between. That’s not to say that some of the magic doesn’t happen WHILE you’re writing (for example, in Hautley’s Bend, the squash lady was completely unplanned - she just happened unexpectedly while I was writing). But it’s fun to drop little cliffhangers, and foreshadowing in stories. It keeps people engaged. And if you have a basic idea of how your story is going to go (I call it the “skeleton” of the story, and while you’re writing, you add on all the meat) it prevents continuity errors too, which is important.  I think that’s all I can manage to pull out of my ass right now - hopefully some of that is helpful! Sorry I kind of rambled haha.  But I guess most importantly, write for YOU. Yes, it’s good to have a basic audience type in mind (ie: who you think will read your story), but ultimately, the story is coming from you, and you’re allowed to make it go in any direction you want, regardless of who you piss off or offend or whatever. Don’t look at writing your story as a chore - I spend a lot of time daydreaming about stories in my head, to the point where characters and scenes feel REAL to me (call me crazy, idk haha). When I’m driving to work, I listen to music and find songs that fit certain scenes in my stories, or songs that would go well with a certain character. You just have to find inspiration everywhere, and really immerse yourself in what you’re writing. I spend more time just daydreaming about my stories than I do actually writing them (which I wouldn’t advise because, ya know, I never get any writing done lol).
