// I liiiiiiiiive! Sorry that I’m kinda absent the past days ^^
My work has changed from bike delivery to delivering with car (I’m a mailcarrier) and so I had to change the workbase, and the one I am in now is further away, which means I couldn’t get home before 6pm. And I was tried, and couldn’t get myself to be here for replies and stuff. I’m not sure how things are going form here on, because work isn’t getting easier, but I guess I will be mostly online on sunday and my free day if I get the time. (I work on saturdays too that’s why weekend is sunday for me) So I’m sorry for everyone waiting for replies! I will try to get to drafts soon, but I can’t promise anything because I’m super tired from this week. Also it’s my brothers b-day and I need to be there.
Edit: Also my internet is down most of the time, or very very slow, so that’s also not making things easier

SHE LIIIIIIIIIVES
Tumblr media
Slinky the Mockup is seamed, the facing is down, the pockets are done, it is trying to escape every surface it's on and all I gotta do to make it wearable as the shortest dress I own is hem the sleeves, slits and bottom. The facing wanted to fight me, and does not lay right unless I'm wearing it. Which is when it needs to lay right, so HUZZAH.
Might need a little tie at the waist if I want some shape in this, but otherwise I'm an hour or so of work away from having this done.
I've tried it on and it is SO comfy, both fabric wise and design wise.
Very rewarding for a one-day project if you have two and a half yards of fabric, 0-20 $AU and a quiet Sunday to while away.
Just gotta go to bed. One does not fabric shop at 1 am.
The Oracle Hath Spoken, so...
I'm making a mockup. The pretzel print fabric is moderately annoying to get, so we are in better safe than sorry mode. Pattern is the Everyday Dress by In The Folds, a PWYW pattern distributed by Peppermint Magazine. I picked it because it's reversible, not too fabric hungry and it looked like a nice chill, easy one. Also I'm eyeing a nightgown pattern by In The Folds and wanna know what their instructions are like.

The fabric I'm using for my mockup is something probably, mostly natural fiber (it's not melting to my iron and burns mostly to white ash) that my aunt destashed last summer...ish. It was 10cm too short, so I just shortened the dress by that 5cm and am making it work.
It also frays like crazy and is a slinky, wobbly situation, so it's gonna look like this, or it's gonna slip off the table and onto the ground until it's done and on a body.
The pockets are attached and understitched, the shoulders are together, the facing is constructed and about to go on... I only have to do side seams and hem everything after this. Which is kinda impressive for a project I started ironing for 4 hours ago. The instructions are wonderfully clear and task batching is extremely doable if you read through them already if time.
The only thing I've found out so far is that you don't need to print out each different bodice piece. Just the one with the round neckline will do, after which you can just cut out two dress pieces and make a V-neckline on one of them by lining up the facing with the center and shoulder seam. But that's a bit overwhelming for a beginner, so I can see why they opted to just pattern out both pieces.
