i think one of the best things people who like playing trrpgs could learn from the Seasons of Hieron is that you really don’t need a big complicated backstory for your character to feel like they have a full and complete life and how a simple backstory can improve your play because it makes you focus on what’s happening in the moment rather than constantly thinking about some big grand event that happened off screen that no one else at your table even knows about

A Familiar Dance || Open
Kasumi had been so excited at the idea of a ball in the human world that he immediately went to his room and got out the robes he’d kept in Kiki’s closet-- ones that he thought he’d need some day.  They were traditional robes, ones that every angel received on his, her, or their 100th birthday.  They were made with the finest blue and white silks, and feathers shed from the angel’s first 100 years of life. The colors and style had been made custom for him by the finest seamstress in the heavens, and they indeed suit the angel well. They even had an open back, perfect for winged beings-- though he dared not show his wings during a ball at which one was supposed to hide their identity.  He had ventured around the shops in town and found a mask that suited the robes he was wearing, and flew to the nearest alley to the Veil, landing there and putting his wings away.
He was quite surprised by the renovations the Veil had gone through to accommodate the ball-- the place looked very different from his last visit. It was much more welcoming, though still crowded as usual.  With his light blue and gold mask securely on his face, the angel entered the ball with caution. He hadn’t come with Kiki or Garridan, like he usually did, and the angel felt a small sense on loneliness at that fact. He hoped that his friends were there somewhere, but he also hoped he could meet someone new.
He was happy to see the familiar dancing. At least he could fit in this way-- he’d noticed that his clothes weren’t exactly what other men were wearing, but didn’t particularly mind. It wasn’t like strangers would recognize him anyways, though if any of his friends were here, they’d likely recognize him from the feathery outfit and white hair.
Summoning a fairly large amount of courage, the angel in disguise approached a person standing by themselves and bowed before extending a hand politely.
“Pardon me... may I have this dance?”

hello! i'm listening to the series for the second time and trying to pick up on things i missed the first time.
is that dice rolling in the background of the first few episodes? i know the Patreon polls decide some events in the show, but was there some TRRPG-esque improvising earlier on, leaving some things up to the luck of the dice? the sound is timed perfectly for when something is decided or a detail revealed or noticed...
Yes it is

I'm decidedly not at all an adult but here's my two cents: join a group! Just be sure you're not in school with access to clubs and stuff doesn't mean there's not lots and lots of groups out there. Plus, having other people there helps you stay consistent.
Trying to find a group? I actually find that at least in my town a lot of groups meet at the library. Check your local libraries for advertisements, etc. And check out stores related to the hobby. Music stores will often advertise music lessons; bookstores will often advertise book groups, etc.
Also, the internet is your best friend. You can look up various groups in your area, lots of them will have websites and ads. And if you can't find in person groups, there's tons and tons of online groups out there! It might take some time to find one that you feel is a good fit for you, but there's definitely some out there :)
Ideas:
Reading: a book group! You probably can find them at a library or just start one with your friends! They also might meet at local restaurants/cafes.
Music: go to concerts! They don't have to be big--some of the best concerts I've been to have been tiny little 200-person shows in someone's practice room for a band nobody's ever heard of. Also, if you want to learn an instrument, start a shitty garage band with some friends! It genuinely does not matter if none of you know how to play your instruments, because you'll figure it out together.
Games: Go to your local game store. I guarantee you they will have nights for card games (like magic the gathering) and TRRPG groups (d&d and the like) open to new joiners.
Video games: You might be best off looking online for this one! There's tons and tons of discord groups and the like dedicated to various video games. You definitely can find some IRL too, but I'm not sure where, lol.
Religion: Pretty straightforward. If you're religious you can find churches, temples, and mosques in most areas of the United States (not sure about other countries lol). Or if you're part of a non-Abrahamic religion you might have do a little more digging in western countries but there will definitely be other people available! I live in the freaking Midwest but have met active groups practicing Hinduism, Buddhism, and even voodoo :)
Writing: the best way I've found personally to do this is during November, since there will be Nanowrimo (national novel writing month) events all over the place where people all meet to sit and write. Admittedly there's a lot of sitting and not actually talking to other people, but go up and ask someone what they're working on! Most writers will jump at the opportunity to explain their writing to someone lol. This is also something you might consider looking to the internet for.
Cooking/baking: I'm admittedly not as familiar with this as I'd like to be, but I hear that baking and cooking classes are a thing? That's definitely something you could look up to find any in your area.
How does one find hobbies to get into, especially as an up and coming Adult adult? I need to do SOMETHING new with my life. I'm so bad at being consistent with hobbies or activities too, so I'm really struggling 😭
