I’ve mentioned this before but accidental foreshadowing is my favorite. I do make sure to intentionally add a LOT of foreshadowing in my story but sometimes it happens as a happy accident. I had to reread TRT to prepare for the next chapter and came across this.

Thank you to @farfromstrange, @shouldbestudying41, and @bellaxgiornata for the tags! I had to think about this one for a bit. I'm going to try to avoid shared universes/fandoms otherwise this list would be 50% Marvel

1. Matt Murdock - Daredevil. If you could put a ring on a hyperfixation, this is the one I'd pick. My favorite of all characters (surprising precisely no one considering the word count of TRT), he's my comfort character, and it's a fandom I return to again and again ever since I first jumped in in 2015.

2. Din Djarin - The Mandalorian. This was the show, ironically, that kicked off my Pedro Pascal obsession - I'd seen him in other things and liked him but for some reason didn't realize they were all the same person. I love Din's character, he's my taciturn shiny space cowboy, bless him, I want to give his poor back massage after carrying all that armor.

3. The Tenth Doctor - Doctor Who. I still remember flipping through channels when I was younger and stopping on some weird show that had a giant Satan guy being yelled and monologued at by a messy-haired man in an orange jumpsuit (this part here specifically). I had no idea what was going on but I just couldn't stop watching Ten as he rambled and talked himself around. Turned out there was a marathon on so I just kept watching, loved him (and David) ever since.

4. Leslie Knope - Parks and Rec. Leslie feels like someone took a section of my soul and then made a parody of her but it's so close to reality no one's entirely sure if it is a parody, 10 STARS OF 10.

5. Garrus Vakarian (along with F!Commander Shepard, because there is no Shepard without Vakarian) - Mass Effect. This is the greatest game in existence and I love this dorky awkward sweetheart of a space raptor and my Commander Shepard and their romance and their banter, everyone leave me alone I'm emotional about this

6. Alistair Theirin - Dragon Age. He is my snarky lil sensitive warden boy, my first real intro to game romance and bioware games in general, I love him your honor

7. John Constantine - Constantine. YOU HAD THE PERFECT ACTOR FOR HIM AND YA'LL BLEW IT, BRING HIM BACK, HE WAS THE EMBODIMENT OF CONSTANTINE, ALSO I LOVE THIS WRETCHED SNARKY CON ARTIST DUMPSTER FIRE OF A MAN

8. Rick and Evie - The Mummy. They are a pair that cannot be separated, they are marriage goals, THEY ARE PERFECTION, I NEED NO OTHER REASONS, HE FUCKING GAVE HER THE ARCHAEOLOGY TOOLS

9. Xena - Xena. I feel like you if you mapped all of my fandom experience back through my life, you'd eventually get back to me as a kid watching Xena which was 70% camp and 100% fucking AMAZING, also I FUCKING TOLD YOU DIANA, I TOLD YOU XENA AND GABRIELLE FUCKING LIKE LIKED EACH OTHER, ARE YOU LISTENING DIANGA ARRE YOU LISTENING YOU BTICH YOU MADE FUN OF ME BUT I TOLD YOU

10. Ellen Ripley - Alien/Aliens. RIPLEY MY BELOVED, RIPLEY MY DARLING, RIPLEY MY BADASS QUEEN, I have absolutely included tiny shades of her in my own fem characters, I fucking ADORE her

Why does the music chosen for caves in Roaring Trainers always sounds like it’s supposed to be a sad and somber scene? Atticus is trying to lift a large rock snake on his shoulders because he’s a himbo, why make it feel like it’s a sad scene?

wing | share a snippet of a scene that you were daydreaming about before writing it

I was definitely daydreaming about this one, because i was imagining the history behind this specific place as well as how it would look after centuries of being underwater. This is Thala's first glimpse of Chitrenikos, the haven for mermaids created by Mitha and Kama

The gap between the rock faces started to widen, an ever-brightening blue light welcoming us as we swam out into the open. My eyes widened and my mouth fell slightly open. 

A courtyard of a spiraling mosaic of green, yellow, and gray splayed out before us, clumps of bright green algae clinging to the faded stones like moss. Gardens of swaying red and yellow-green sea flora stretched out around the sprawling, airy palace up ahead. Deteriorating statues of once-noble dragons flanked the curved staircase leading up into the palace, the one on the left holding my attention until Mitha called out a greeting and waved to a cluster of mermaids within the garden. 

She didn’t stop to chat, however. Instead, she led me up into the dilapidated palace itself. 

The walls, where they still remained, possessed some of the grandeur of the former hall. Faded murals depicting an age long past adorned them. The pointed, arched ceiling was so vast that I had to squint to make out even the slender beams stretching between the patchy roof. Time and water had eroded the faces, wings, and tails of the stately columns that had been carved to appear like the dragons of legend. 

Broad arched windows sat between each of these, looking out over another courtyard, where deep reds and blues joined in the dizzyingly swirled mosaic. Another garden spilled out onto the courtyard, which was populated with many more mermaids, most of which were fawning over Kama. Her head was resting on the jagged edge of the courtyard, which dropped off abruptly into the deep sea. Her long dark body swayed lazily in the current until she rolled over on her side to let some of the mermaids pick off the barnacles stuck to her underbelly. 

“Thala.” I started at the sound of my mother’s voice, so taken with the bewildering wonderful sight before me that I had forgotten about Mitha sharing her face and voice. I tore my attention away from the spectacle, looking over at her. “Come. I’ll show you where we rest.”

OK so

Charon the Ferryman, son of Erebus and Nyx (void and night), who takes the dead across the Styx or Acheron after recieving payment left in their body, a single coin (normally obulus or danake) under the tongue. Were a person not to have the coin they would not receive judgment and wait on the mortal sides of the shores forever, or until they faded forever. It should be noted as long as you had payment he would ferry you to the land of the dead, and possibly back, regardless of your condition of being alive. Fun fact: Charon and Thanatos were siblings!

Hellhounds, famous through Cereberus, are a diverse breed of names. We have Black Dogs from the U.K., Inu-gami, hellhounds, Fenrir, and so SO MANY MORE!!! PASTA!!! There are SO MANY!!! But- im gonna grab a few for reference out of Greece. We know cerberus, guardian of the underworld, but how about Sirius and Laelaps? (also a quick piece on church grims)

Sirius, the dog star, was named after Orion’s faithful hunting dog of the same name. If you track the movement of stars, Orion chases his faithful hunting dog, even among the stars. Laelaps, was a hunting dog who never lost a scent, or its prey. Both mythologically legendary hunters.

So church grims and black dogs are both british isles folklore and HEAR ME OUT OK!!!! Its GOOD SHIT!!!! Grims were black dogs buried first in a churchyard (graveyard) first so that the belief that the first buried there was stuck wasn’t human. It’s not IDEAL but it works. The dogs, now grims, would guide the buried to the Beyond and then protect the churchyard against any and ALL threats. Neat huh? Also I wonder who might go to a church??

Black Dogs or Black Shucks (they can intersect but im gonna focus on Black Dogs), is often associated with THE DEVIL and DEATH WILL SOON FOLLOW. I W O ND E R where that assumption might fit into our story??? HRMMMMMM

Ok so anyways where im going with this-

But hes like Hades, he just sort of hangs out without being super morally weird. Hades and thanatos get confused often so Matt needs to get out of his castle, meet his puppy, and tell the ferryman he doesnt want to die. Ok thnx bye

i’m sure i’m definitely missing things in my own playthroughs (i uh sorta skipped over TRT since i wasn’t in the mood that day) so if anyone also would like to play and pick up some sweet ned facts/moments, feel free to! i’ll probably make a post with the stuff i took note of after i’m done. every single game i finish is a step closer to SEA and my heart simply cannot take that

Red Clay

For those of you who have played the fourth installment in the Nancy Drew games, “Treasure in a Royal Tower” probably remember a small plot point of Mr. Eagan recognizing red clay on our shoes.  However how? Why? We really don’t see the red clay and it never comes up again. So where did this come from? 

Well I can tell you that after reading the book by the same title which the game takes inspiration from, there is NO MENTION of red clay ever being on Nancy’s shoes. The plot point does not come up at all actually in the book. There is no red clay in the tower, or any thing of footprints ect. 

There is however a place in Nancy Drew history where this plot point could have originated. The yellow books and the Case Files have made use of such a point multiple times, HOWEVER, for TRT, I think its inspiration is not necessarily book related at all.

In the “Nancy Drew Hardy Boys Mysteries” from the seventies there is a VERY SPECIFIC scene which sticks out. 

In the Hardy Boys ep. “Creatures That Came on Sunday” The boys are locked up after suspected trespassing. “Who said we were trespassing?” Joe asks. “No body had to say anything, you got red clay on your shoes.” the Sheriff replies pointing to their feet. “And there, ain’t but one place where that comes from.” 

These few lies of dialogue to me, are too close to Mr. Egan’s to be coincidence. SO in conclusion, I do believe that some of the inspiration for this plot point in Treasure in a Royal Tower, came not from its book; but from the Seventies TV show, which got its inspiration from the original Blue and Yellow books. It’s fun to see how all versions of Nancy and the Boys carry over into their later media. 

And the next time you traipsing through the Queen’s tower just remember... Frank and Joe were jailed so that you could explore. ;)

I think today I did more progress than yesterday. I think at least past the first many techincal stuff and more at the core on the document I am starting to understand.

That should give some peace to my brain

So I hope

Today I woke up crying, I clearly remeber why

Somehow I was really stressed still studying the document even in my dreams and it was bad. I was bit too emotional but I got to calm myself

I did not doodle today since I kinda feel like not to after that and even so it turn out to be a nice day.

Hopefully I don't have to see that paper in physical again tonight because that would be terrible.

Tho I believe maybe it will be more of an adventure than last dream so I should be fine.

I guess my stress is just a bit smaller after today that I touched on stuff I do undertand pas the hypothesis the document try to defend but still

I have a bunch of reference document to go and also I need to find to for my part on the document, it will take me a bit more for sure but it is what it is.

I will go and catch some good dreams since I should wake up early to keep working on it.
