summary: dating a celebrity, how hard could it be? ✨

Dating a celebrity isn't what it ought to be. She never expected life to be less hectic, and she's proven so - by being a walking shadow in between flashes that's been capturing her new boyfriend, Kendall Lawton. Raylene never thought that life would turn this way - all those months before where she met him first at the premiere was the first time she laid eyes on him. He was different, something about him made her want to be close to him. Something about him intrigues her much more - and she couldn't stay away. They say if someone lets one feel - it's always worth it to explore it, and she did through awkward banters that ended up making the boy laugh in joy at her quirks and that's where it all began. And here she is, dating him. A celebrity who hasn't been wrapped around her head yet, as she sneaks in which is a part of an attempt to avoid being noticed she stepped into the 5th Avenue building, heading towards his penthouse. She manage to enter the building without much suspicion, but she somehow almost caught an eye of a pap that was waiting at the front of the location. She sighs in relief before she's greeted by the guard of the building who is a familiar face to her, Alex. He bows in greeting as she nods, before leading her to the elevator towards Kendall's penthouse home.

The elevator stopped at the penthouse floor, as she was greeted by Bernie and Taylor who is Kendall's personal assistant and long-term best friend. Bernie and Raylene have gotten quite close ever since Kendall introduced them to each other, hence Bernie become one of their early witnesses upon their relationship entanglement, including Rose, Taylor, and Dominic himself. She met Dominic and Taylor over dinner a few weeks ago - and they indeed had a blast together.

"Ray, I'm heading out right now - but, I'll see you soon enough." Bernie smiles widely at her, as her arms widen for a hug while Raylene returns the gesture as Taylor joins in the hugging farewell fest too.

"I'll head out too, see you soon R." before disappearing from her peripheral vision.

After they both left, she placed the homemade pizza she brought for him. Kendall suggested on date-in on one of his days off and she couldn't say no. She decided to surprise him with the pizza Rose made earlier, which she knows he'll love. Her gaze lands upon the glass windows in a distance, as there are buildings miles and miles in front of her. She lets out a sigh in awe at how beautiful everything is from above. Her thoughts were interrupted by a sudden presence that wrapped her into an embrace from behind.

"Okay, you know what - don't let go; let's stay like this for a long long time," Raylene says, as a chuckle escapes from him - before she turns to face him.

"How long do we have?"

Raylene pretends to check the time, before placing an arm around his neck - her lips forming a wide smile.

"Maybe....for the rest of eternity, or maybe even 5 o'clock, who knows?"

"Look who's cheesy now." He teased her, as a sound of laughter escaped her lips.

"Cheesy is never wrong. Nothing could fault the cheese."

"Whatever you say, Ray." before Kendall sneakily places a kiss on her cheeks earning a wide grin from her.

"I miss you." She admits after the silence that follows, as they haven't seen each other for a few weeks due to Kendall's filming schedule.

"And...I brought pizza!" She drags him to see the homemade pizza as he nods at the sight of it. he felt his mouth begin to water at the sight of it, as Ray takes the box with her - leading them onto the couch in his living room.

The pizza box was placed perfectly on top of the table, as Ray begins to search for the perfect movie. Kenny finds himself staring at the woman sitting next to him in awe, as she turns to face him.

"Okay, do I have something on my face Kenny?"

He chuckles, before shaking his head.

"Then?"

"Maybe, I just want look at you?" He simply says before she smacks his shoulders in a playful way.

"Shut up." She tries to hide behind one of those fluffy couch pillows he has before her cover was blown. He ended up taking one of the pillows away from her, as they both end up on a spontaneous pillow fight while the pizza sat still on the table somehow witnessing their showdown. After two faithful rounds, they both took their places once again on the couch as Ray finds herself leaning onto his embrace, as a rom-com began to play in the background.

As the movie has been playing for around an hour, their focus has been shifted as Bernie made her appearance once again at the penthouse with quite a serious expression on her face.

"Bernie, everything alright?" He paused the movie as Ray also feels a tinge of concern at her sudden arrival after leaving just an hour ago.

"Yeah, I'm good but we have a situation."

"About?"

Bernie went silent before she laid it to the couple, as they both stood nervously - perhaps something happen; an international scandal occurred that they didn't realize.

"We need to talk about both of you today."

Kendall begins to overthink his whole existence within those four words at the beginning of her sentence, as she met Raylene's eyes. Why does this feel much more terrifying than anything else?

"Um...sure." his voice sounds weary, as the three of them take a seat at his couch earlier. He didn't realize he's been holding his breath as Raylene does the same before Bernie begins to speak.

"The paparazzi have begun to recognized Raylene on the new issue that's been released an hour ago." Bernie placed the tabloid on the table, as it sit stills beside the pizza box she brought earlier.

Kendall's eyes widen in worry, as he begins to inspect the issue. And their worries upon privacy have been shattered, as it's Raylene being photographed in her hoodie, as she stepped into his building - which he thought is quite absurd but, this is the life he has chosen in the end.

"This is not good, they'll attack her Bernie."

Raylene turns to him with wide eyes at the statement, as he gives her hand a squeeze, trying to reassure her and himself too.

"I know, I've managed to reach out to the company with Dominic's help - and the issues have been taken down....now." As she nods in confirmation at the statement, Ray lets out a breath of relief.

"So, what should we do now? I think some of them have gotten copies, even links that were shared. Ray's privacy could be compromised here." Kendall's voice is laced in worry, as Bernie calms him down.

"I have an idea as always but, we need both of your co-operation here."

They both nod in unison, as Bernie lays the idea. Two words, be public before she leaves the apartment once more, leaving Ray and Kenny to think about what the heck just happened.

"So, to put it short - we have to go public. We have to tell the world, we are together?"

He nods, but a part of him feels excited about the idea. But, being in a relationship means being a part of the same team - and he needs to know if she wants it too. Privacy in the entertainment industry is non-existent and he hesitates to bring this part of his world to her, he witness beforehand what damage the paparazzi had brought to the other artists. He doesn't want to put Raylene in that situation too.

"So, what do you think?"

She chuckles, somehow her mind is thinking quite deeply today too.

"Hey, it's okay to take your time with this. This is a huge thing for us both." His voice is gentle to her ears, as his arms open wide for her which is also another form of reassurance for her.

"I'm sorry, this feels like...a lot to even take in and, I just - I know I want to be with you, we are together. But, being public - letting the world knows feels...terrifying in prospect." She explains as Kenny nods in understanding.

"You probably think that's stupid huh?" She tries to humor the tension between the issue but fails tremendously,

"No, no it's not stupid. I never asked how you feel about all of this because everything already feels okay, but the decision is definitely important and everything you say is very true, babe." Kenny says as they both end up in a quietness after the talk with Bernie as Kendall plays with her hair - pushing it away from the strains of hair that are covering her eyes. The purple dye is quite a statement from her, as he recalls Raylene telling him about her hair transformation as a middle finger - and he likes it. Very very much. He likes every part of her, as he remembers how much of an impression she made when they first met. Rose was a close friend of his and he was not aware of the fact that Rose has an older sister, and they met during one of his premieres. She ended up trying to sell a pun his way, and he was undone. Hypothetically.

He wants everyone to know that this person, this girl has captured her heart and he wants to scream it, maybe he could be on top of the roof of his penthouse. But, he wants everyone to know - that he likes her. Maybe loves her even, at how many times she's been a rock to him. She has been coming over to sets and has been with him through the start and he wonders, how does she end up becoming one of the best parts of his chaotic life. A life where it's never meant to be private, a life where every single specimen of his life is under the entertainment microscope. And yet, here she is - he never saw it, until now. He never wanted to scream more to the world than right now with her being in his arms, as he held her there.

"I don't know why, but I actually want them to know about us." As her head whipped, facing him, with an 'o' expression on his face making him chuckle.

"You do?"

"Yeah, because I want to show the world that you are mine, Raylene Gray."

Ray felt herself blushing at the confession.

"What if they say...stuff about us?" Her fear of the media coming is evident because no one can control how much the media can say or do making her fear valid again, as Kendall begins to reassure her with a smirk of his own.

"The only thing they'll be saying is that I have a bomb girlfriend who I adore very much."

Instead of worrying, she laughs at the response, and then the next moment she's smiling again as Kenny bops her nose earning a fit of giggles from her.

She thought about it again, a thought going through her mind. Is she ready to face this, and everything else that's coming to her. Dating a celebrity is not easy as it ought to be then, she thought again. But, something about him - it feels like a risk worth taking. He was born for this life, she didn't yet love never sails wrong. Love? The thing that could steer her decision away. She loved being with him, she loved spending time with him - she loved all the kisses he gave her, all the warm hugs that follow. Everything about him is unexpected to her, yet she will forever be grateful to have someone like him. She stares at him for a moment as he is having a conversation with Bernie on the phone - before he turns to face her. She smiles at him, as he asks.

"Are you sure?"

Raylene thinks about it one more time and finally nods. He looks at her in surprise before a smile fills his face, before continuing his conversation with Bernie over the phone once again. She smiles at the sight of him being happy, and she thinks again. Someone like him is worth it, more worth it than what the media can do. It's not every day you meet someone that will give you the adventure of a lifetime, and he's the unexpected risk in her life and she will forever be excited to be on this journey with him.

"Okay, Bernie has given us the green light. We'll meet on Friday night for the premiere and that's the beginning. A greeting to the cameras and the world to tell them that we are actually together." Kenny says as Ray nods in agreement after their meeting with his assistant ended.

He takes her hand in his, squeezing it - a sign of reassurance. They'll be okay.

The day has come, as Raylene is getting ready for their debut as a couple. She's at her apartment with Rose who's helping her with make-up, as she stands in from of the mirror.

Her phone lights up, as she answers it meeting a familiar face.

"Hey, the car is ready; Dom, Taylor, and Bernie are with me here too." At the mention of their name, a number of hellos can be heard from the other side of the line.

"That's nice! Rose is finishing up my final touches - and I think... we're ready to go." Raylene explains as Rose waves at him from the side as she finishes up her hair.

"Alright, be right there soon." And the line goes off. Raylene takes a deep breath, as she glances at herself in the mirror. She's wearing a black ball gown, with a slit on the side of the skirt to match with Kendall's black and white-colored suit Her makeup is a mix of elegance and minimalist, as her purple-colored hair is styled in an up-do in the form of a bun, as the final touches along with an extra touch of silver dye just for the sake of funsies.

"Kenny wouldn't see what's coming to him, sis," Rose says in a teasing tone that made Ray blush in crimson red, as the text indicates that her ride has arrived.

She waited at the apartment lobby, as her ride arrives meeting four different pairs of eyes looking at her in awe. Bernie is smiling approvingly at her, as Dom nods alongside Taylor who nudges teasingly at her boyfriend who is staring at her with the real embodiment of heart-eyes.

"You look beautiful," Kenny whispers into her ear, causing a shiver through her body as Kendall took her hand in his.

"You look handsome too, Kenny." She replies, before realizing there's an audience in front of them both.

Taylor is smirking teasingly at them both, as Dom shakes his head at his actions. Bernie is busying herself on her phone, perhaps doing what she does best.

"It's okay, both of you look amazing. The world wouldn't know what hit them." Taylor reassures them both, as Kendall stares at him in surprise.

"That's the first non-stupid thing that came out of your mouth." Kendall teased him, as Taylor rolls his eyes at the insult.

"Your welcome. I can be good when I wanted to be." Taylor replies with a high amount of confidence as the car halts to a stop, it's time.

"Okay, just like we talked about. If you get nervous - just, give me three squeezes of the hand, you'll be okay." Kenny explains once more as Bernie, Taylor, and Dominic begin to exit the car.

She takes a deep breath before taking his hand as the noises around her feel overwhelming, yet everything about it feels so exciting.

There are cameras everywhere, the lights are brighter than her supposed future - but, deep breaths she took her first step with Kendall by his side.

Everything felt like a dream and a reality at the same time - as the sound of screams can be heard, the photographers begin to capture their every move. They both halt to a stop in the middle of the carpet, as Kenny whispers to her ear.

"You ready?"

She receives three hand squeezes from him, and nodded. She's ready, with his by her side. It's like a greeting to the world, they are something real. This is real life and they are real at this moment.

"I do."

Kendall smiles, taking her free hand to his lips placing a kiss on her knuckles as they posed. The flashes become wilder, as Kendall turns to face her, his smile calming her nerves as he leans forward capturing her lips on his. Their debut, their greeting to the world to tell them, they are indeed the real deal and no one could mess with them.
