i once read that japanese people tend to do star ratings differently where a 3 is perfectly fine and a 5 means it exceeded their expectations so much they could not imagine anything in the universe being better than it, whereas americans tend to give things a 5 if they just liked it a lot. and i do wonder how this affects restaurant ratings in a business district compared to one that has major tourists sites
