“Would You… Care To?”
Summary: Steve was practicing talking to you. In front of the mirror. Just like a movie star from the 1940s, completely into the role. While going back and forth in the room.
Pairing: Steve Rogers x Avengers!Reader
Warnings: nothing
Word count: 0.5k
Fluff | Pre-Relationship | 1940s Romantic Flavor | 100 Cups of Sugar

⸻
It was quiet in Avengers Tower that morning.
You padded barefoot down the hallway, a half-finished smoothie in your hand and your mind only half-awake.
You were just passing Steve’s room when you heard it.
“Hey there, doll—no, wait—Sweetheart.”
You paused.
Wait. Was that Steve talking to someone? No, not quite. You tilted your head, one ear angled toward the door, footsteps quiet.
“Would you… care to get coffee with me sometime?”
Your brows lifted. Was he rehearsing?
“Care to—CARE to?! You sound like a telegram, Rogers!”
There was a thump, like a fist lightly knocking against a desk or possibly his own forehead and then a heartfelt, frustrated,
“ARGH!”
You clapped a hand over your mouth to keep from laughing.
Because Steve Rogers, Captain America himself was pacing around in his room like a boy in an old black-and-white film, trying to figure out how to talk to you.
Your heart did an embarrassing little leap.
⸻
Inside, Steve was spiraling.
His sketchbook sat forgotten on the desk. Every line he’d drawn this morning had turned into a soft angle of your smile. He couldn’t focus. Couldn’t even breathe properly when he imagined walking up to you in the kitchen and saying it.
Would you care to get coffee with me sometime?
He groaned again, dragging a hand through his hair.
“Get a grip, Rogers. You’ve fought Hydra. Aliens. Loki. And now you can’t ask a girl to get coffee?”
But this wasn’t just any girl.
It was you. You with your laugh, your stubborn streak, and you write a portrait of a team member on the briefing documents more cute than anyone else.
You made him nervous. In the best way.
⸻
You knocked softly.
He froze.
“…Steve?” you called gently through the door.
Silence.
Then a crash—something definitely fell. Possibly a chair.
“…Y/N?” His voice cracked like a teenager. “Uh—hi. Didn’t hear you there.”
You smiled to yourself. “Yeah, I figured. Everything okay in there?”
“Yep. Perfect. Fine. Uh—just sparring. With… air.”
You had to bite your lip to keep from giggling. “Do you normally flirt with air, too?”
Dead silence.
Then, a breathless laugh from behind the door. “You heard that, huh?”
“All of it.”
A long pause. And then, the door creaked open slowly—revealing a very pink-cheeked Steve Rogers in a blue checkered shirt and vintage jacket, tousled hair, and the unmistakable expression of a man caught mid-daydream.
You raised your smoothie and gave a soft smile. “For the record? I’d love to get coffee with you sometime.”
He blinked.
You swore you saw his pupils dilate.
“…Really?”
“Really, Stevie.”
And just like that, his shoulders relaxed. He smiled, really smiled, the kind that made your knees wobble and your smoothie melt and scratched the back of his neck.
“In that case, I better go practice saying something cooler than ‘care to.’”
You winked. “Don’t. I kind of like the telegram version.”
And from the way his eyes softened, from the way he leaned just a little closer, you knew he liked you back.
⸻
Thank you for reading! I am Japanese and my English is not very good. I apologize for any grammatical mistakes.
I also want to be friends with people who enjoy the same Steve and Bucky fanfiction💖

𝐅 𝐀 𝐖 𝐍 𝐓 𝐄 𝐄 𝐓 𝐇 - CH 3 - KIDNAPPED BY ONE DIRECTION
MINORS DNI 18+ FIC
You’ve always liked the idea of having a dominant partner - BDSM was something you’ve read about, watched videos about.
Something you made Pinterest boards and aesthetic tumblr posts about when you were 18 and curious, the idea always sounded nice, but you’ve never done it in practice, not really. Sure you bought fuzzy handcuffs at a gag gift store once, but that didn’t really count.
You’re still a virgin.
You’ve always had that chronically awkward, workaholic type of vibe that made typical dating near impossible at worst and frustrating at best. Normal dating apps have proven fruitless and agitating. So poor curious little you talked yourself into making a fetlife account. You weren’t looking for true love, but at least you could get laid.
DM Request from: 10:13 PM - WebRigger2099 - “Hello, Fawn.”
College was for new experiences after all.
CW: BDSM heavy/centric fic. Safe, Sane & Consensual. Miguel is your professor, but you both don't know that. Age Gap (Y/N is 23, Miguel is mid 30's)
TAG: @slut4oscarissac23 @iamtheprincess227 @haveclayeveryday @junehasnotbeenfound @thedevaxer @bunnibitez @kodzuminx @neteyamslovrr @cl3stevu @miguels-cock-piercings @dumn-little-bunny
PART 1 - PART 2 - PART 3 - CHAPTER 1 - CHAPTER 2
8/19/24 7:05 AM - WebRigger2099 - “Look at you, little Fawn; so delicious. You make me want to hunt you down like a wolf and tear that cute outfit off of you.”
You didn’t really hear what Aurora mentioned despite your reaction - did she know Dr. O’Hara? She did have a tendency for weird nicknames. She called Taylor “TayTay'' once and you swore you’ve never seen them so mad - they’d yelled something about Taylor Swift? You think? You weren't sure - you were way more focused on the fact that your professor needed to pull you aside for… something.
Your thoughts immediately went to the worst case scenario.
Did you accidentally plagiarize one of your papers? You’d seen videos of plagiarism checkers catching lines used in obscure fanfics before, could that have happened to you? Or did you completely flunk something and he was merely giving you a heads up before dropping you from his class and alerting the dean?
You never did get the opportunity to talk. Aurora seemed intent on talking his head off, and before the older man could get a word in, she had rushed everyone out of the classroom, chittering away like a parakeet. You didn’t particularly want to have a conversation with your least-favorite professor, so you quickly told him you’d speak to him on Wednesday about it. You tried to convince yourself that you were content with being ignorant to whatever problem he had with you for the weekend.
But even when you were loaded in the back of Aurora's 2012 Subaru Forester you couldn’t get your mind off it, not fully. Not like you had a means of distraction either, you kept opening telegram and then closing it.
Because you were the tallest in the group, you always got the window seat…at least you wouldn’t have to worry about anyone in the back looking over your shoulder at your phone screen.
“Off to the shore now. I’ll make sure to take pics :3” - Fawnteeth - 8/19/24 12:05 PM [Read]
Your fingers were practically flying across the small screen as you chewed on your bottom lip. In a way it felt awkward messaging him, desperate for attention you hoped he would reply - you saw the indication he read the message instantly, but no reply came. You settled with scrolling instagram, he’d reply eventually.
He was an adult - he had a life.
Just like you.
You had a life, right?
Totally.
After a thankfully uneventful drive from NYC to Ocean Grove's beautiful beach and cozy little town. It was early enough that the beach wasn’t completely packed, blessedly, leaving plenty. You helped Kore and Taylor unpack the car, being the only one who could carry the umbrella. So you tugged it along as you saw Aurora with her girlfriend Cerice.
The two met by accident at one of the many cheap bar stands that littered the shore. She was a lifeguard and Aurora had somehow flirted herself out of getting scolded when she was caught running with two margaritas in hand.
(She may have been a short little thing but damn if Aurora could drink.)
The two were inseparable when they got together, always attached at the hip. You swore Aurora would drive the three hours there every day if she had the time. Honestly, you found yourself occasionally wishing for something like what they had - their relationship was enviable with how affectionate they were, even if it made Taylor roll her eyes sometimes with how sickeningly cute they were.
But you never really saw yourself as relationship material anyways, and besides the closest thing you had to a boyfriend was an old man that had made you cum with a bluetooth toy a couple times. You didn’t know his name, and, really, you weren’t even sure if it counted as a situationship, and he was currently leaving you on read…
(was he seriously that technologically inept? you knew he was older, but he had to know that leaving people on read was, like, insanely rude.)
As always, though, an impromptu beach day meant attempting to build a sand castle with Kore, Aurora, Babette and Cerice while Taylor acted weirdly dad-like, scoping out the beach, commenting on the tide and mumbling about sunscreen and adjusting the ‘god damn umbrella, christ’.
They had a thing about skin cancer. It was the ginger in them.
After you helped build the foundations, watching Aurora and Kore collect sticks and colorful shells in order to decorate the sandcastle which was still just its foundations. You settled down on a towel and pulled your phone out of your bag. You used your bag as a pillow, shaded under the umbrella as the day passed by.
You shouldn’t be thinking about college right now, nor what Dr. O’Hara was going to chat with you about. It didn’t matter that you had an essay due Monday and a report due Thursday. You’d get it all done the night before in a grind of glorious procrastination as you did on most assignments that required your attention for more than an hour.
You wished Web had replied. It was strange that he hadn’t; usually, he was pretty quick to get back to you, but the fact that he had left you on read was strange. Maybe you’d do something to get his attention.
You opened your phone and realized that your boobs looked great at this angle. Snapping a picture, you shot it Web’s way. He didn’t open it this time, but you could see that he had the app open before promptly closing after he got your notification.
Weird.
You ended up taking a nap listening to Aurora, Cerice and Kore chat away about the sand castle. You’d look up every so often and see Babs in the distance on her large pink colored donut floatie, and assumed Taylor was somewhere nearby.
In the end, you all walked the boardwalk, got ice cream at the little corner shop and collected seashells and sea glass. Babette found a red sea glass piece and you all freaked out at how rare it was. You all took pictures to post to your instagram stories, and Aurora made some offhand comment about her “Uncle Miggy” liking a post from a few weeks ago.
Overall, it was a huge relief to get away from the rest of your life. A tiny vacation, in a way. You kept checking Web’s messages… but again, you saw he had seen your photo but hadn’t replied.
Maybe he was busy.
After you had showered away sand and salt, moisturized and dressed in your favorite pajamas - an old t-shirt and loose sleep shorts - you pulled up the Canvas app. Nothing was due tonight, so you were good to cuddle up in your bed, pull up a movie, and relax.
For a moment, you just stared at your phone. Were you desperate enough to text Web again? After all, this wasn’t normal. He always replied or said he was busy and would get back to you. He’d typically even shoot a ‘ busy next few days’ as a warning, not just… leave you high and dry like this. .
Did you upset him? Was it something that you did? Or - maybe he had some kind of emergency in his personal life? With how old he was, surely he had family, right?
You went back and forth, if you messaged him again, that would be pretty pathetic. But everything about this situationship of yours was pretty pathetic if you thought about it for too long. He had purchased you, a girl he had just barely met, over 200 dollars in sex toys, and in exchange he had seen almost every inch of your body.
Save your face of course, you’d even gotten lazy and let him see your tattoo a couple of times, he said it was pretty, and “fitting,” whatever that meant.
You gave in and messaged him again.
“Heyy just got back home u up?” - Fawnteeth - 8/19/24 9:23 PM [Read]
You watched that message for hours, anxiously switching between Telegram, Tiktok, Instagram, and even Pinterest. You couldn’t even remember the last time you opened Pinterest, but you were desperate for anything to keep you distracted. Time seemed to crawl, and soon it was nearing 1 AM -
and he still hadn’t replied.
You told yourself you were being silly, that there had to be a perfectly reasonable explanation as to why he wasnt responding to you. You did your best to convince yourself, but you couldn’t ignore that gnawing feeling in your gut that something was deeply wrong.
Maybe you should visit a doctor about getting you a prescription for anxiety medication…
You fell asleep waiting for his reply - the anxiety alone wasn’t enough to keep you up later than 2 AM. When you woke up and were conscious enough to register last night, you quickly scooped up your phone and scrolled through all of your notifications to find… that he had left you on read, and never replied.
It just wasn’t like him. Something was clearly wrong.
The feeling of dread returned and went straight to your stomach again. You couldn’t bring yourself to get up yet, it was only 9 AM, and you didn’t have class till noon anyways. You sunk back into the comfort of your pillows and allowed the weight of your weighted blanket to crush you. You didn’t want to distract yourself, you just wanted to lay there and wallow. So you didn’t bother with the nervous routine of checking all of your apps and allowed yourself to wonder what you did.
You opened your phone against your better judgment, reading over the last few texts you sent him.
(Did he think you were trying to get out of meeting up with him?)
“Hey, hope you’re okay. Not like you to not let me know if you’re gonna be gone.” - Fawnteeth - 8/20/24 11:53 AM [Read]
Did he find someone better than you? Prettier, smarter? Easier to get along with? Dread was where your mind went to first. You couldn’t come up with a logical explanation as to why this was happening. You knew you’d felt better once Web actually answered you, for fucks sake. But until he did it seemed that you were nothing more than a spider caught in a web of your own insecurities and anxiety, and no one had yet come to your rescue to cut you free.
Minutes turned to hours and soon the alarm you set yourself went off. 10:30, you needed to at least shower and get something in your stomach before you went to class. You couldn’t allow yourself to skip just because the internet man you’d grown attached to had decided to ghost you. You were pathetic, but you weren’t going to be that pathetic, no matter how much you really wanted to. Thankfully, all your other professors were way nicer than Dr. O’Hara.
You showered, ate oven-heated chicken nuggets with Taylor and made yourself at least somewhat presentable. You hated how much you craved Web’s attention and care - it was stupid how a man you barely knew had reduced you to this.
You looked at yourself in the mirror before heading out, you looked like shit, you knew that. Deep eyebags a clear indicator of a lack of sleep, your hair was still a bit damp from your rushed shower and you were pretty sure you hadn’t completely washed your conditioner out. It was up in a disgustingly messy bun, so it's not like it mattered anyways.
You tried to navigate the day as you typically would, aching for any shred of normalcy as a welcome distraction. You were halfway through one of your classes when you had to rush to a bathroom stall to have a silent panic attack. You were wiping your tears with the shitty paper-thin toilet paper when you decided to just head back home, consequences be damned.
On the subway back to your shared apartment, you took out your phone and sent a quick message to the group chat.
“Went home early, when all of you are back could you be as quiet as you can please? I’m sick and not feeling well :( ”
You dropped your bag on the floor and kicked your shoes off into some uncaring corner of the room. The moment your head hit the pillow and you were curled up comfortably, you were out like a light. You weren’t sure how long you were asleep, but when you checked your phone It was about 5 am. You had a few notifications, the expected feel better soon wishes from your friends, some Instagram notifications, but nothing from Telegram. You didn’t bother checking it, you knew that the Read in italics seen underneath the last message you sent would only mock you further. Your roommates had at least done what you had asked, the whole place was quiet and still. They were all probably still asleep.
You didn’t bother to shower, instead crawling back into bed and watching Supernatural. You didn’t even like Supernatural - but you watched three episodes straight and fell asleep in your sweats on your bed with the sound of Dean yelling lulling you to sleep.
Eventually, you woke up with sweat sticking to the back of your neck. You felt gross and it made you shiver. It was 11AM and you knew you had classes. You convinced yourself to take a shower, but forgot to eat. You ended up getting coffee and a bagel on the way to class.
It wasn’t a very good bagel.
But hey, you did ace your first test in calculus - take that, Dr. O’Hara. You were good at math.
You messaged Web again when you took the subway back home.
“Did I do something? I’m really getting worried.” - Fawnteeth - 8/21/24 5:28 PM [Read]
He was getting your messages, reading them clearly, and yet he was choosing at this point not to reply. You were truly getting ghosted at this point, and the realization that Web was probably not ever going to respond to you hit you like a brick to the head. You tried not to cry on the subway, you did not want to be that girl who cried on the subway over getting ghosted on Fetlife.
When you got back to your apartment, you once again shed your shoes and outdoor clothes, and crawled back into bed. You ignored everyones concerned looks and mumbled to Aurora that you were fine and just tired when she knocked on your door to check on you. You appreciated the gesture, but you did not want to talk to anyone right now, and you didn’t have the energy to deal with Aurora's animated personality at the moment.
Despite the exhaustion you felt, you couldn’t sleep. The silence of your room was deafening, and the complete lack of message notifications you were getting only made you want to cry. You let out a shaky sigh as a few stray tears dripped down your cheeks. You weren’t in public, you were in the enclosure of your own room with only a few stuffed animals as your witness. You could cry now, this was probably the best place to cry.
Yet despite how badly you wanted to, how you wanted to scream and sob and fall apart until you were a heap of sweat and snot on your bed, you couldn’t bring yourself to do anything more than shed a couple more tears. You didn’t eat dinner that night, you felt like if you tried to you’d just puke it all up.
If Web knew you weren’t eating, he’d scold you, maybe even punish you. You wished he would, punishment, no matter how painful it was and how sore it made you, was better than this. You wanted to go into your messages, confess to every skipped meal, missed shower and late bedtime, to put it all in writing in the hopes of getting some kind of reaction from him, even if he was busy. Probably busy with some new girl that he was talking to that had bigger boobs than you and a cuter pussy. He was probably telling her to write the praises and sweet words meant for you on her body.
You felt like throwing up.
You were being completely pathetic now, you knew that. But now you were too sad and too hurt to care. Maybe if you bothered him enough, you’d get some kind of response. Closure maybe? Taylor told you when you broke up with your last boyfriend that you deserved closure, so this probably wasn’t any different
“I do want to meet up, if that was a problem… I’m not trying to lead you on. Please” - Fawnteeth - 8/21/24 11:45 PM [Read]
You doomscrolled for an hour before you turned your phone off completely and went to bed.
You woke up to your alarm, feeling like shit just like the past few mornings. You forgot to shower again, and planned on skipping breakfast before Babs stopped you and pushed a protein bar into your hands. You ate it to make her happy, and it did help a little, even if you hated the peanut butter flavor.
As much as you wanted to skip class again today, you knew you couldn’t. You had Dr. O’Hara’s class today, and he would be the least understanding and sympathetic to your problems. He’d probably laugh at you and tell you to grow up. That the “real world” didn’t make accommodations to the hurt feelings of a stupid girl.
Asshole.
You walked into his classroom with Taylor on your heels, but before you even had the chance to set your bag down at your non-assigned assigned seat, Dr. O’Hara stopped you. “Stay after class. I’d like to have a word with you.” You felt tears burn in your eyes as you barely managed to whisper out a “yes sir” before you found your seat. Taylor raised an eyebrow at you, concerned, but you just shook your head, wiping your eyes and looking down at your shitty laptop’s keyboard as if it were the most interesting thing in the world.
You couldn’t remember the last time you’d cried this much.
You had completely forgotten about him wanting to talk with you. It was probably about your academics, and how you’d somehow fucked up unintentionally and ruined your life yet again. First it was your Fetlife dom that you clearly had strong feelings for, and now you were going to get kicked out of college for plagiarism. This was it! You’ve completely ruined your life and now you were going to be stuck working retail for the rest of it with horrible hours just to be able to afford to keep a roof over your head. Next all your friends were going to tell you that they hated you and are kicking you out.
You couldn’t pay attention in class, you didn’t even make a single note. Dr. O’Hara was a horrible professor, and Taylor would give you their notes anyways. You could see the way their eyes occasionally flicked to you, concern and scrutinization mingling into something that almost resembled pity.
You stayed in your spot after class had finished, with Taylor telling you to text them whenever your conversation was over so they could walk you to the Subway. They never did that - while Taylor was always protective, they seemed hesitant to actually be personal and one on one with people. God, you must’ve looked like a wreck then. Once everyone had cleared out, your professor turned to you. “Come to my office and wait outside, I’ll call for you once I’m ready to see you. This isn’t a classroom conversation.” His voice was cold - was it colder than usual? God, you felt nauseous.
You nodded, wringing your hands, and walked your way over to his office. Peeking inside the window, it seemed cold and empty, save for the man himself. There was not a single personal item or degree on the wall - it felt like a shell, really. Was this not his usual office? You tried to remember if he had office hours listed in his syllabus, you didn’t think he offered them. You sat down in the plastic chair outside the room, clutching your bag as you dug your nails into the well-worn material.
As he sat down, Dr. O’Hara mumbled your name, formal and cold, and god, it felt like he was mad at you. You practically tiptoed into the room as you shut the door behind you with shaking fragility. You were a good girl, all things considered. The only time you had ever been called into an office was to congratulate you on your scholarship. Of course, you totally squandered said scholarship by doing what your father wanted and going into nursing , but that was neither here nor there.
(Even if he was still upset with you at the new development.)
Now he’d be laughing at you - you were already failing classes. So much for success and proving him wrong. You hoped when you were older, maybe in your thirties, that you could go right up to your father and prance about his office, singing “I told you so’s” from the heavens themselves. Now your life was over, and within a week you were sure to be homeless.
You felt cold sweat on your neck, forcing you to fiddle with the tag of your zippered sweatshirt as you sat down in the plastic chair before Dr. O’Hara’s desk. You found yourself staring at your sneakers, double knotted and slightly stained.
Did you already fail? Did you fuck up your most recent assignment? Did whatever plagiarism checker he used ping a false alarm? Your mind rushed to a thousand possibilities.
Dr. O’Hara cleared his throat, causing you to jump out of your thoughts. You looked up at him. He looked… nervous? You had never been close enough to really see his features, he looked older, wide flat nose, pronounced cheekbones, dark messy hair. His dark brown eyes were staring you down.
…Was he waiting for you to speak? Did he think you knew why you were here? The silence was worse than any scolding he could give you.
You were a talker. You’d always been a talker. The amount of times that you’d been told to shut up in your life was more than you could count.
So, of course, you talked .
“I-I don’t know why I’m here. I hope it - I promise you I'm trying as hard as I can. I both work and do school full time. If it’s something with my recent assignments I- I don’t know . I’m trying. I.. I have a habit of using really big words that sometimes come up with plagiarism checkers that the college recommends you all use. It happened last semester with one of my roommates - er. They didn’t have anything to do with any of my assignments. They’re not even in the same major -”
“Slow down. You’re not in trouble,” he interrupted, eyes tired as he lifted a hand to pinch the bridge of his nose.
You paused your rambling, staring at him almost dumbfounded as you grip at your sweatshirt. “W… Why am I here?”
He looked like he was weighing something in his head as he stared at you, dark gaze thinning and lips pressing thin. With a big exhale, he let out whatever inhibitions had been holding him back.
“Does the phrase ‘Fawnteeth’ mean anything to you?” His words were blunt and emotionless, face turning to stone in an instant. You couldn’t read him, but you weren’t very good at reading faces anyway.
You felt all the color drain from your face, veins turning to ice. You were frozen, terrified, a deer in the headlights. How the fuck did your professor know about - that. You had used ‘Fawn’ as an online alias since you were a teen, yes. But Fawnteeth was something that you only used… on Fetlife. You know - where you were anonymous . You were supposed to be anonymous!
…Did someone tell him? The college board? Not even your roommates knew you used that website. You only spoke to three people on it - and even then, only one regularly. Or… you had, before Web ghosted you.
In your panic, you couldn’t put any answer together that made any sense.
“I… If anyone has sent you anything. I am so sorry- I don’t know how. Oh my god . I’m so fucked .” Your hands grabbed your face, fingers sinking into your flushed cheeks as you tried to look anywhere but your genetics professor.
“You’re not in trouble,” he reiterated, though the words seemed almost as painful as they were awkward rolling off his tongue, “I just needed to - we needed to -”
You couldn’t look him in the eyes as he spoke, so you stared at his hands.
His… oddly familiar hands.
(Despite the fact that you’d never been close enough to see his hands.)
You heard him talk, but it was like listening through water as you just stared at his hands. As you visualized the last time you saw them wrapped around - oh god.
Your eyes darted up to meet his, and he looked…concerned, brow furrowed and dark eyes wide. You tried desperately to speak, but your words caught in your throat.
His hands were Web’s hands. The same scar on his knuckle and webbing of veins that made them look out of those black and white thirst trap BDSM aesthetic tumblr posts you used to reblog on tumblr.
This was not what you had imagined when you agreed to meet up with your weird…online situationship dominant.
Distantly, you heard Dr. O’Hara - Web - say your name, still coming through your head like water, distant and muffled.
This had to be some sick joke. You trailed your hands from your cheeks to cover your ears. You swear you’re going to hurl.
Were you having a panic attack?
Probably.
You took a moment to breathe into the silence, thankful that he seemed to take the hint and stop fucking talking . You could just leave, pretend like he never.. You two never…
This had to be a sick joke. Unless he hunted down one of his future students… but… You hadn’t even signed up for his class when he messaged you. No, this had to be some horrible accident. Some horrible, horrible accident. You did NOT sign up to fuck your teacher.
Especially not… Him. Anyone but him.
Finally managing to compose yourself, you took in a shaky breath, hands dropping from your face to your lap. Forcing yourself to meet his eyes, you balked at the sight - he looked terrified . Not ten minutes ago, you would’ve found some sick joy in it, but right now…
You couldn’t find the humor.
“Web?” Your voice cracked, upset and heartbroken. What else could you say? Ask? What could you do ?
You watched Dr. O’Hara tense up, breathing through his teeth. He ripped his gaze from you and placed his hands, palm down on the table.
This could only happen to you. Only you would somehow sext your fucking teacher for months. You could never have anything easy or normal. He couldn’t have been some banker, or a stupid sexy jock librarian.
“Dios mío…,” Dr. O’Hara rumbled, voice deep and low. You watched him lean back in his chair, staring at the ceiling.
He was Web. Your horrible, awful, asshole professor that you had spent countless nights bitching about was the man you had sent pictures and videos of your whole pussy swallowing up a dildo to. This man had seen you cum before he’d seen you get an A on one of his assignments.
Oh god.
You spent a solid thirty seconds in the most painful, humiliating, awkward silence you’d ever gone through in your entire life. This was worse than when you dropped out of nursing school, when you broke your arm learning how to skate in front of all the popular girls in middle school, when you’d been turned down in front of a crowd by your middle school crush. It was worse than anything you’d ever experienced.
(You wished you had died right there.)
Unfortunately, God was not intending to strike you down right then. Maybe you could pray to Zues and he’d throw a perfectly aimed lighting bolt right between your eyes. You’d seen on Tiktok that some people prayed to the greek gods, maybe one could grant you a favor and-
Your thoughts were interrupted with the door being swung open, another one of your professors waltzed into the office like he owned the place. Professor Parker - most of his students seemed to call him Peter - burst open the door, phone in his hand held out to Dr. O’Hara.
“Oh. My. God. Miguel. You will not BELIEVE what my baby sitter just sent me.” Not even looking at you, he strode in, pajama clad and scruffy bearded. It was like you weren’t even there, and your jaw snapped shut, teeth clicking with the effort. Dr. O’Hara’s eyes widened.
“You know Mayday? My pride and joy? Your godchild? Look at her. She got cake and it's all over her little face. Hah! Babies don’t know how to eat cake. It’s so adorable…” He chuckled, waving his hand in a relaxed gesture before he noticed that you were also in here, very panicked and on the verge of crying. You… and Miguel having the worst day of his life from the look on his face.
“Uh.. Did I interrupt some-”
“ Nope ,” Dr. O’Hara said quickly, slapping both of his hands down on the desk. He turned to you, eyes wide. “I will continue this conversation with you later.”
Dr. O’Hara raised his brows as if trying to tell you to act normal . You blinked once. He said your name - all formal again. Prof. Parker leaned on his chair, still holding the phone in his direction. Eyeing you with confusion, the ganglier professor frowned, head cocking to the left. Curious.
You needed to play it cool. You wished you exploded on the spot. You’ve seen videos about spontaneous combustion before.
That would be really nice about now.
You squeaked and stood up. “O-Okay Dr. O’Hara I will see you. Next… Class. Later.” You turned on one foot and practically ran out the door.
This was not at all like the sexy TeacherxStudent college romances that you had read on wattpad in middle school. But knowing your luck, your life would turn into a version of “Kidnapped by One Direction” next - you already had the messy bun part down of being a Y/N.
But hey, at least you knew why Web ghosted you now. You kind of wished that it was a prettier, younger girl with better boobs and a cuter pussy, not this. This wasn’t the kind of closure you wanted.
So. You went to your next two classes and then promptly went home and laid down face first on your bed until you heard the phone ping. For a moment you considered not checking… but you groaned and picked up the phone. It was Web. Dr. O’Hara.

5:12 PM - WebRigger2099 - “I only found out Monday. Your tattoo. You don’t normally have it showing.”
“ oh ” - Fawnteeth - 5:12 PM
5:13 PM - WebRigger2099 - “I didn’t mean to make you worry before, I was just trying to figure out how to respond.”
“ ghosting me was not the way to do that ” - Fawnteeth - 5:13 PM
5:13 PM - WebRigger2099 - “Would you have preferred I told you who I was over this chat? I wasn’t sure it was you. Not fully.”
“ I guess that makes sense ” - Fawnteeth - 5:13 PM
5:13 PM - WebRigger2099 - “If it wasn’t you you would have said that name doesn’t mean anything to me and I would have messaged you back right away on here.”

5:13 PM - WebRigger2099 - “This wasn’t what either of us expected.”
“ sure fucking hope not ” - Fawnteeth - 5:14 PM
5:15 PM - WebRigger2099 - “I promise I did not intentionally try to woo one of my students. There’s like… 20 different colleges in NY. Thousands of students in each of them.”
“ I have the worst fucking luck on the god damn planet ” - Fawnteeth - 5:15 PM
5:15 PM - WebRigger2099 - “You’re telling me. I finally find someone that agrees to my rules and waits patiently for two months before they even meet and this happens.”
5:15 PM - WebRigger2099 - “Look, you can block me, I would honestly expect that. I’m sorry again.”
“ is this what you meant by continuing the conversation? ” - Fawnteeth - 5:15 PM
5:16 PM - WebRigger2099 - “If you want I will help you transfer out to a different class. Afterwards, we can mutually block one another.”
“ I don’t want that. ” - Fawnteeth - 5:16 PM
5:16 PM - WebRigger2099 - “Then what would you like? I want to make this right by you, the last thing I want is for you to feel like I’ve thrown you away.”
“ I’ll be honest, I’m not entirely sure what I want. ” - Fawnteeth - 5:16 PM
5:17 PM - WebRigger2099 - “That’s fine. But I’d like to speak about this again with you, in person. It’s wrong to have a conversation like this over text.”
“ I would appreciate that, please. ” - Fawnteeth - 5:17 PM
5:17 PM - WebRigger2099 - “Okay just… Somewhere private. I don’t need to be raising questions meeting up with a student outside of class.”
“ I think that’s kinda obvious. Where? I don’t want to see professor parker again. ” - Fawnteeth - 5:18 PM
5:16 PM - WebRigger2099 - “He has a bad habit of coming in at terrible times. Highland Park, tomorrow at 5pm?”
“ ok ” - Fawnteeth - 5:19 PM
You turned your phone off for the night, you saw you got another notification from Web, but you didn’t bother reading it. Maybe you should have -, at least then, he’d be the one left on read this time.

Small Town, Tuesday Night
Written for the @microcest June 26th Prompt: Blind Date
America/Canada | 2.7k words | twincest, SFW
Rotting away in the boring small town he grew up in, Alfred lets himself be pushed into a blind-date with the one other gay guy in the area—some dude named Matthew. There's no way he'll hit it off with some stranger, but at least it'll shut his nagging dad up for awhile, and offer some variety in a life where the days all blur together.
Matthew is spending his summer break upstate, enjoying hiking and fishing and being away from the hustle and bustle of the city. When his aunt offers to set him up with a coworker's son, he accepts. He wasn't exactly pining away for a boyfriend but maybe a little romance will spice up his summer.
Neither is prepared for what they'll see when they finally meet.
Ao3 Link
Alfred was relaxing on the couch peacefully picking flowers in Skyrim when Arthur walked in from the kitchen.
Alfred didn't even have to look up at his dad to know he was about to dish out some criticism. It was all he seemed to have for Alfred these days.
"I'm sick of seeing you mope about the house. You're twenty-six years old, if you can't find a job, you can at least meet someone!" Arthur said.
Alfred thought for the millionth time that he really needed to get a TV for his bedroom so he could take his PS5 upstairs and be safe from Arthur's relentless nagging.
"I've tried!" Alfred whined, "It's not that easy. Do you know how many gay guys there are around here? None!"
Here being a small town in rural Minnesota.
"Nonsense. Why, just the other day Chloé at work was saying her nephew came out as gay recently. You can date him." Arthur said, putting his hands on his hips.
He was wearing a little checkered apron over his clothes, and going by the harsh acrid stench of smoke beginning to waft out of the kitchen, he would be better off checking on his scones than pestering his son. But Alfred knew when Arthur got on a roll he wouldn't listen.
"One guy," Alfred grumbled, "and he could be forty for all I know."
"He is not forty," Arthur scoffed, "he's a student at the University of Minnesota."
"That doesn't mean anything, he could be a nontraditional student," Alfred said, just to be contrary.
At his age, he would be a nontraditional student if he enrolled, like Arthur was always nagging him to do.
"Quit making excuses," Arthur scolded, "do you want to be still sitting on my couch when you're forty? I'll ask Chloé his age and if he's closer to yours than mine, you can go on a date with him."
"Yeah sure whatever," Alfred mumbled.
It's not like he didn't want to find a partner, although having to be set up by his dad was so embarrassing. He was sure the guy would be a total dud, with nothing in common with Alfred other than being gay. Maybe a Log Cabin Republican, or some super flamboyant type.
Arthur smirked at Alfred's acquiescence, savoring the triumph of finally succeeding in one of his attempts to push his manchild son towards the milestones of adulthood.
That was, until he noticed the dark smoke now billowing out of the kitchen.
"Bollocks!"
*****
It turned out that Chloé's nephew was the same age as Alfred ("If that's not a sign I don't know what is," Arthur had said smugly).
"Okay, what's his number?" Alfred asked.
"I didn't get his number," Arthur said.
"Well get it! Geez. How do you expect me to get in touch with this guy without a phone number?" Alfred asked.
Arthur rolled his eyes and walked off to call Chloé (yes, call, because Arthur was such an old man he still called everyone instead of texting) and get Matthew's number. Alfred heard him mutter something about "in my day".
"In your day you probably sent a telegram," Alfred said.
Arthur walked back in, phone cradled to his ear and still chatting with his coworker, and flipped Alfred off.
Alfred sputtered. "I'd get grounded for a week if I did that," he protested.
Arthur put his hand over the phone's mouthpiece and said, "My house, my rules."
Alfred fumed. Maybe he'd hit it off with this Matthew guy, who'd get a high-paying job when he graduated, and then Alfred could move in with him and be his cute gamer house-husband.
Hell, Alfred would move into a shed with a hobo at this point to get away from Arthur's annoying ass. But a shed wouldn't have electricity for his PS5...
Alfred sighed. Better hope Matthew made the big bucks then. When Arthur finally (finally! God, the man gossiped like an old hen) returned with a scrap of paper with Matthew's number on it, Alfred snatched it out of his hands, saying "That could have been a text you tree-wasting bastard."
While Arthur started a longwinded rant about showing respect, Alfred sent Matt a quick text saying "Hi :)" and then started sleuthing online. Everyone had an online footprint. Time to find out what this Matthew was really like.
*****
Alfred dug around online in between texts with Matthew. Matthew was polite but didn't hesitate to answer all of Alfred's questions. Alfred had a tendency to bombard people with texts, sending a dozen in a row rapid-fire. Matthew didn't complain or ask Alfred to slow down, that was one point in his favor.
According to Matthew he was: in his senior year of college working on a Conservation Biology degree. He'd grown up in Canada but moved to the states as a teen. He enjoyed hockey, nature, and his favorite food was pancakes.
His taste in memes was excellent, and he and Alfred spent the next couple of hours sending each other dumb shit until Arthur yelled at him to be quiet because he was laughing so hard.
"Uptight British asshole," Alfred grumbled, but he took his phone and went to sit in the backyard all the same.
Fireflies glowed in the darkness a few yards from the deck, but their beauty was wasted on Alfred, who was too busy getting to know his new potential-boyfriend.
The hours passed quickly with them chatting about everything and nothing. Alfred was stoked to find out they had the same music taste (eclectic and broad, spanning all genres, even the ones people usually listed as exceptions, like country and rap) and liked a lot of the same bands. They played a lot of the same games too.
"I was actually playing Skyrim when Aunt Chloé called me about you." Matthew texted.
"haha, what a coinkydink. we're on the same wavelength." Alfred replied.
He was starting to feel really excited about their upcoming date (bowling, because "what else is there to do in this town?" "IKR???"). Maybe Matthew and him were meant to be.
"I hardly ever get to play cuz I'm so busy with classes...speaking of classes, I have an 8am class! D: I didn't realize it'd gotten so late. I'd better go to bed. See you tomorrow!" Matthew sent.
"Nite!" Alfred replied, pondering if he should send a kissy emoji or something like that. But nah, they didn't know each other that well yet.
With that decided, he stuck his phone in his pocket and headed back indoors. Matthew might be going to bed, but Alfred would be up for a couple more hours leveling his WoW characters.
*****
The next day, the date loomed heavily in his mind. In between gaming with his online friends he texted Matthew. Something occurred to him after lunch.
He still didn't have a clue what Matthew looked like. Matthew's Facebook icon was a picture of a polar bear, not a photo of himself. The guy's Instagram gave away nothing—not a single selfie or group pic. It was mostly meal snapshots and photos from hiking trails.
Alfred texted him, "Can you send me a photo of yourself? I'm not asking for a dickpic or anything, I just wanna know what you look like so I can spot you at the bowling alley."
A couple minutes later Alfred's phone dinged. He snatched it up, eager to see what his date looked like.
The excited grin fell off of Alfred's face as he stared at the screen, confused. It was...a photo of himself? His eyes looked weirdly purple in the photo but that was probably a filter.
Had Arthur sent Chloé a photo of Alfred and she'd passed it on to Matthew, and Matthew accidentally sent that instead of one of his own selfies? Or had Matthew been e-stalking and gotten the photo off of Alfred's Instagram account or somewhere?
Either way it was weird. Alfred didn't recognize or remember the photo at all. In it, his hair looked unusually lush and wavy, and he had an uncharacteristically sweet smile on his face as he leaned on the railing of a balcony.
Alfred squinted at the background of the photo. What looked suspiciously like the Eiffel tower stuck out among the more normal buildings.
Alfred had never been to Paris, or even France. The only place he went overseas was to England with Arthur to visit his relatives there. Why had someone Photoshopped him into Paris? Was this guy Matthew a total fucking weirdo or was this Arthur's doing?
A chill ran down his spine at the possibility that Arthur had gotten him entangled with a freakin' psycho!
"ARTHUR!" Alfred hollered, jumping off the couch and running to find his dad.
He found Arthur in his study upstairs, frowning over some paperwork. When Alfred burst through the door, Arthur glanced up, eyes searching Alfred's body for any injuries or cause for alarm.
"Half the town can hear you shouting, what is it?" Arthur asked.
In response, Alfred held up his phone. Arthur look at the glowing screen.
"A photo of yourself?" Arthur sighed, "Alfred, I really don't have time for this. Please don't interrupt me unless it's something serious.
"I didn't take this! Matthew sent it to me," Alfred said.
"And?" Arthur raised one bushy brow.
Arthur presumed the boy had gotten a photo off of Alfred from the internet. Strange maybe, but who knew what was all the rage with kids these days and why?
"And I don't recognize this photo at all, and, and—look, that's the Eiffel Tower!" Alfred said, pointing to it.
Arthur looked.
"Did you send Chloé or Matthew any photos of me?" Alfred asked.
"No, I haven't sent them anything of the sort." Arthur said.
"So where did he get this? And why would he doctor it to put me in France? What sort of a weirdo did you set me up with?!" Alfred asked, waving his arms around.
"I'm sure he's a perfectly nice lad, it's probably a joke. Why don't you ask him?" Arthur asked.
"Why don't I ask him?" Alfred mimicked him. Then, he shouted "Because I don't want to end up chained up in his basement!"
"Always use a safeword son," Arthur said.
"Ewww! Take this seriously!" Alfred said, his face scrunching up.
"Don't go on a date with him if it bothers you so much," Arthur said, "Now, I'm very busy with work so if you could leave now—"
"When they find my body in a ditch somewhere, you'll wish you'd listened to me," Alfred grumbled.
He stalked out of Arthur's office with his phone clenched in his hand. When he got back to his bedroom, he flopped down on the bed to stare at the photo some more, as if it would give up its secrets. Matthew had messaged again while he was arguing with Arthur.
"No response? Damn, I didn't think I looked that bad lol," Matthew's text read.
"Where did you get that photo?" Alfred texted back.
"Papa took it, when we were in France last year," Matthew answered.
Then he sent,"How about you? Send me a selfie? :)"
"You already know what I look like :/" Alfred responded.
The reply from Matthew came through a few seconds later, "Wdym?"
Alfred growled. The fucker was playing dumb. This guy had to be a real whackjob. This was the weirdest catfish ever—Matthew had stolen his date's photo to present to them, pretending to be them? Completely bizarre. Did Matthew even like all those bands and video games he said he did, or had he just stalked Alfred thoroughly and learned all his likes and dislikes?
He didn't scare Alfred though. Alfred was going to meet the little psycho in person and give him a piece of his mind.
****
It was already dark out when Alfred walked up to the bowling alley. The parking lot was nearly empty of cars, since Tuesday wasn't exactly a hot date night for most people. The ancient building that housed the bowling lanes was in poor-repair, but it was brightly lit outside, so Alfred sat down on the bench next to the entrance. Junebugs flew by his head, drawn by the light, but Alfred ignored them.
He was busy texting Matthew. "I'm here. waiting by the bench outside" he sent.
Then he put his phone down and waited, eyes scanning the parking lot but also alert to the door next to him, in case the weirdo was inside and would come out to get him.
After a few minutes, a small white car pulled into the parking lot, parking a few spaces down from the entrance.
Alfred tensed as the car door opened, and a man stepped out. Was this him? As the young man approached, Alfred's jaw dropped.
"What the fuck?" Alfred asked.
"Are you Alfred?" Matthew asked, blinking. He took off his glasses, rubbed his eyes, and put the glasses back on. Stared. "Wow," he croaked. "We...look a lot alike."
"Yeah, no shit," Alfred said, staring back.
So that hadn't been a stolen photo of Alfred, Photoshopped for some bizarre reason that only a twisted nutcase would understand.
Alfred chuckled. "Well, at least you're not crazy."
"You thought I was crazy?" Matthew asked, "Why?"
"Dude! I thought you sent me a photo of me," Alfred said.
Matthew sat down next to him on the bench. "Yeah, I can see how you'd think that. No wonder you wouldn't send me a photo back."
"Man, we look so much alike—this is nuts! We could be twins," Alfred said.
Matthew groaned, covering his eyes with one palm. "Don't say that. It would be just my luck eh? Finally meet a nice boy who likes me back and he's my brother."
"Aww, you think I'm a nice boy. Enjoy that delusion while it lasts," Alfred snarked.
Matthew straightened, his pretty violet-tinted eyes (and Alfred was still in awe that he was dating a guy with legitimately purpley-blue eyes) narrowing as he looked over Alfred's face again. Alfred couldn't look away from him. It was so strange.
"Let me guess, you were born on July 1st, and you're adopted," Matthew said.
"Yep! Hey, how'd you know I was adopted?" Alfred asked, not jumping to conclusions as fast as Matthew.
"Because my birthday is also July 1st, and I'm also adopted." Matthew said, "Fuck, this sucks. Do you know what this means?"
"We're time-twins! That's so kickass!" Alfred said.
"Yes, we're—wait, what? Time twins?" Matthew asked.
"Also called 'astro twins'!" Alfred informed him, "It's people born around the same time, around the same place. I guess if you were born like, half way across the globe from me, then you might have a different birth chart."
"Oh shit, you believe in astrology," Matthew let out a shaky laugh, "Well at least there's that. Clearly we never would have worked as a couple."
"Hey man, what do you have against astrology?" Alfred asked.
"Nothing," Matthew assured him, "it's just complete hocus, but you can believe what you want."
"Oh fuck man, you tryna start a fight?" Alfred said, shaking his head.
"Not at all," Matthew replied, "Time-twins or not, I think we're literal twins. Same birthday, adopted, look the splitting image of each other. I bet if we could get our adoption records opened, it would show we have the same birth mother."
"Bullshit dude, I finally found a boyfriend! No way am I having him taken away from me by some corny soap opera shit!" Alfred said.
"So what, you want to just ignore that we're almost certainly blood related? Identical twins? People will notice that we look just alike," Matthew said.
"I'll dye my hair," Alfred said, stubborn as ever, "and no one can unseal our adoption records, so they can't prove shit!"
"There's no way this is going to work," Matthew said, "but okay. Brother, boyfriend, I want to learn more about you either way."
"Sweet! Maybe I won't die a virgin after all," Alfred said, grinning at his twin.
"You're still a virgin? At our age? Oh my god," Matthew said.
"Don't judge me! Who would I screw in this podunk town? Before you arrived, that is," Alfred said, raising his eyebrows up and down.
Matthew groaned.
C'mon, let's go bowl!" Alfred said.
He grabbed Matthew's hand and pulled him to his feet, dragging him through the swinging doors of the bowling alley.

De's Military Service
The National Archives and Records Administration is a great website for military records, especially old ones. Some have been digitized and some have not (and some were burned in a fire in 1973, presumably what happened to my great grandfather's records). I was searching for the two training films De was a part of besides "A Time To Kill" (I am determined to find them!) and decided to see if his record was on there, and sure enough it was. Even though it's a public website, I still blacked out De's Serial Number (his SSN was already blacked out) although I don't think anyone could do anything with it since its been so long and as he had no children, any potential VA benefits wouldn't be a factor today or in the future.
Draft Registration:
This address is right on the beach. His employer is "Cooper Arms" which is down the block from the residence address. Cooper Arms is where he got his elevator job. I don't know if this is before or after he crashed in their basement. He's 21 here, so this is sometime in 1941. Notice the signature on the bottom. The clerk most likely made him put in "Jackson" since that was his "official" name. Blue, Blonde, light complexion, and 150 lbs.
10 March 1943 Long Beach Press Telegram
The newspaper article where De got on the bus to go to Basic. (Mentioned in "From Sawdust to Stardust"). (Article was saved in my "military" folder instead of "newspapers", which is why it wasn't posted before.)

Payroll RAAF, Roswell NM 30 Apr 44
I don't know why this was included in his record, but I love finding records like this so I included it.
Going from left to right, 3 Mar 43 (date drafted). 0 is Years of Service (it's weird in the military: if you're in, but below 2 years, you're still considered having 0 years of service until you hit that 2 year mark, at least on pay records). With the comment under his name, it appears De stopped an allotment in February, and they are now reimbursing him for taking it after he wanted it stopped. If the codes are the same as today, an "F" Allotment is to a charity or emergency assistance fund. Blacked out is his Serial Number. The 6.60 is for an "N" Allotment which is life insurance. 3.75 is for "Class A pay reservations" which is a war bond as far as I can tell. 1.50 is for "Government Laundry."
In the second picture, I could not decode what the 10.35 was for (T/A). So he was due 65.65, but they collected the 1.50, leaving him with 64.15. He signed (with "Jackson" now) saying he received that money.
Separation 28 Jan 1946 -
After VE and VJ day, the First Motion Picture Unit was shut down and some of the unit was sent to Colorado to wait for their separation orders.
Separation Qualification Record
Lists his military jobs, basic information, and a summary of military occupations, which would likely have been useful for returning GIs to get a job doing something similar to what they did in the service, for example, radio technicians, communications, etc. The address on Normandie is where he and Carolyn started renting right before they got married.

Page 2 (Backpage), Military Education, Civilian Education and occupations. Again all of this would be helpful for returning GIs.

Honorable Discharge Certificate

WD AGO Form 53-55 - Official Separation Form
Basic information. Same address on Normandie as above. Blue eyes, but now Brown hair and weight is 165 (Guess 3 meals a day and all the PT helped him out 😂 Or Carolyn made him some good food 🤣). No. Depend-1, this is number of dependents, being spouse or children, or even at this time parents as the rules were more lax on supporting your parents.
Block 21 Civilian Occupation "Checker" - I'm unsure about this but according to "From Sawdust to Stardust" De told them he was an "entertainer." Box 35 is Immunizations, which continues in Box 55. I'm surprised by how late he got these. Perhaps the Army gave priority to those going overseas first and then the rest got them. Nowadays you get the majority at Basic Training if you don't already have them.
Served 2 years, 10 months, and 13 days, and was a Private First Class upon discharge. Reason for separation is basically "surplus." Pay Data was his final pay plus some travel money, and his insurance continued for another month.
Block 34, right thumb print. Box 55 Remarks: the continued immunizations. Inactive service is while he was waiting to board the bus to Basic, (the time between when he was notified he was drafted and the day he officially was).
The "6 Days lost" is throwing me. Usually "Days lost" means you weren't able to work because you made a bad choice (like you're hungover, or you did something incredibly stupid and hurt yourself, causing hospitalization, or you didn't show up for most of your shift) but I can't see De being too hungover to work or not showing up. However, there is the story of him, George Reeves, and another soldier getting lost in Colorado, pushed a car into the nearby town, and when they couldn't get the hotel owner to open up, they broke in and slept on the floor. They were drunk after drinking a bottle of bourbon trying to stay warm. The sheriff came by and took them to jail for the night. There's also the story of George Reeves getting recognized in Colorado at a hotel and decided not to spend the night because he got mobbed (De was with him). A sheriff pulled them over for something and decided to put them in jail for the night. I don't know if these two stories are the same or not, one was in the book and one was in a newspaper article, but if it made them late or made them miss a shift, that would count as being absent, (but not AWOL, which would have been much more serious). Also I don't know if the furlough time was considered "lost time". It's possible all of this was and it added up to the 6 days.
The 4 Discharge Emblems were pins issued to be worn on the uniform once someone was discharged. Since there was a clothing shortage, service members were authorized to wear their uniforms even after they were discharged (mostly while traveling home). The Discharge Emblem proved that they weren't away from their unit, that they were allowed to be wherever they were. ASR score was a rating given to service members to list who got discharge papers first.
De signed and he was now a Veteran and a civilian. Back to Carolyn at Normandie and Paramount.

With European Union elections underway, Germany is the EU country most under attack by Russian disinformation campaigns, a spokesperson for the European Commission tells WIRED.
The warning comes days before Germany votes in EU elections on Sunday and during a campaign season marred by a string of violent attacks against German politicians.
“Most cases in our database are related to Germany, which means it is the country in the EU which is most targeted by disinformation,” says Peter Stano, the European Commission’s lead spokesperson for foreign affairs and security policy.
Numerous instances of Russian disinformation targeting Germany are listed on the public disinformation database run by the EU’s diplomatic service. One example references an April case where fake news articles purporting to be published by German magazine Der Spiegel spread on the social platform X. When users clicked on the articles, which criticized the German government, they were taken to the website Spiegel.ltd instead of the magazine’s official domain, Spiegel.de. Although the links no longer work, at least two accounts that shared the fake articles are still online. X did not reply to WIRED’s request for comment.
“What we are fighting and defending ourselves against is this foreign interference and information manipulation coming from Russia,” Stano says of the threats facing the EU election this weekend. These disinformation campaigns, Stano says, can be linked to Russia because they either link or refer to Russian state media that is controlled by the Kremlin.
Germany “is the biggest member state of the EU by population, and in the public perception it’s the one that drives policymaking in the EU,” says Stano. Russia is attempting to exacerbate divisions that already exist in Germany, he adds, such as the economic differences between east and west, as well as the country’s “Putinversteher,” or Putin-sympathizers, a term used to describe sections of Germany’s political class who express sympathy with the Russian president.
Fact-checkers working for the independent media group Correctiv have also identified videos on Tiktok that falsely claim Germany is preparing to enter the war in Ukraine, and another video on Telegram and Facebook falsely claiming to show protesters clashing with police in Mannheim after a police officer was stabbed and killed last week.
Tensions are already high in Germany ahead of the election. Earlier this week, a politician from the far-right AFD party was stabbed in the city of Mannheim. Last month, a candidate from Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s center-left SPD party was hospitalized after he was attacked while putting up posters. A Green Party candidate was also verbally and physically assaulted.
On Thursday, Chancellor Olaf Scholz pledged to counter political violence, whether it comes from the far left or far right. “Security is the cornerstone of our freedom, our democracy, and our rule of law,” he said in a speech in Berlin. Germany’s foreign office did not reply to a request for comment on the impact disinformation was having on the election campaign.
The European Commission has a team of around 40 people who are tracking online disinformation. They have a budget of around €20 million to track Russian activities across platforms like TikTok, Facebook, Telegram, and Instagram and flag their findings to EU member states.
Compared to Russia, their budget is nothing, says Stano. “We assume they are spending €1 billion on disinformation,” he added, explaining that the European Commission had come to this estimate based on publicly available data about allocations in Russia’s state budget for state-run media and communication activities.
The EU has also been closely tracking how social media companies respond to Russian attempts to manipulate discussion on their platforms. In April, the bloc’s regulators launched a formal investigation into Meta, Facebook’s parent company, to see whether the platform was complying with its obligations to prevent the dissemination of disinformation campaigns. “We suspect that Meta’s moderation is insufficient,” top commission official Margrethe Vestager said at the time.

Telegram group Yes Follow on Twitter Yes Use a zkVM-powered app Sometimes Hold specific tokens Often required Completing all required steps ensures a higher chance of successfully receiving the airdrop. Security and Performance Analysis Security and performance are essential for any blockchain protocol, especially when handling airdrops. Users need confidence that their assets are safeguarded and that the system operates efficiently under real-world conditions. Vulnerability Assessment A thorough review of Risc Zero highlights its commitment to addressing known vulnerabilities such as buffer overflows and memory corruption. The protocol is designed in a way that aims to reduce common exploit vectors present in other cryptography systems. Independent code audits have inspected Risc Zero’s virtual machine (zkVM), searching for bugs and weaknesses. Past research in the field has shown that zero-knowledge systems are not immune to vulnerabilities—one study reviewed over 140 such incidents in SNARKs—but Risc Zero’s core uses safe coding practices to lessen such risks. Despite these efforts, vulnerability management is an ongoing process. Developers must keep up with new threats, patch exploits quickly, and constantly monitor for issues that could affect security or user funds. Security Mechanisms Risc Zero integrates several layers of security into its zkVM. This includes sandboxing user input, strict memory verification, and use of formal verification where feasible. By applying these methods, it minimizes risks such as code injection or unauthorized data access. Key protection mechanisms include: Memory isolation: Prevents buffer overflows and data leakage. Restricted execution environments: Only pre-approved code can run. Active debugging tools: Developers can trace unexpected behavior within the zkVM. The team also leverages cryptographic proofs to ensure calculations are accurate and tamper-proof. Regular audits and bug bounties are encouraged to catch potential exploits before they harm users. Performance Metrics Performance is evaluated by transaction speed, proof generation times, and system resource usage. Risc Zero’s zkVM is engineered to balance cryptographic strength with computational efficiency. In benchmarking tests, it efficiently processes a high number of transactions per second, with fast proof verification times. The use of lightweight cryptographic operations means that it remains accessible even for users with limited computing power. A key performance metric is latency. Risc Zero keeps delays low during both normal transactions and large-scale airdrop events. Resource management is also optimized, allowing the zkVM to operate reliably even as network demand grows. This blend of speed and reliability makes the protocol suited for busy environments like token distributions. Technical Features and Ecosystem Impact RISC Zero brings unique advantages to blockchain and zero-knowledge infrastructure through its technical design. Its innovations can influence how developers, gamers, and AI projects interact with decentralized systems. Precision Airdrop Implementation RISC Zero enables a precision airdrop mechanism using its zero-knowledge proof capabilities. With this, tokens or assets are distributed based on verifiable actions, wallet histories, or participation—without exposing private user information. The proof system ensures that only eligible participants receive allocations. This reduces spam and makes distribution efficient. By applying zero-knowledge proofs, the process becomes transparent and secure for all parties. Users benefit from airdrops that truly reward engagement and provable activity. This approach helps establish trust in token distribution, which can matter in projects involving native code, provenance, and permissionless blockchains. Native Code and Provenance RISC Zero allows execution of native code for zero-knowledge proofs. Developers can work with code in languag
es like C++ or Rust, producing cryptographic proofs that verify program results. Tracking provenance means every proof connects directly to code, inputs, and outputs, providing a reliable audit trail. This benefit supports broader decentralized app development, especially in gaming and finance. It opens the possibility of using bios, roms, or other binary files in a secure, verifiable context. By supporting native execution, RISC Zero gives developers flexibility while maintaining security guarantees. Feature Description Native Code Runs C++, Rust, and more for ZK-proofs Provenance Transparent linkage of code, proofs, and results Security Maintains privacy while verifying computation Integration With Emulators and Gaming RISC Zero’s structure supports integration with gaming emulators such as PPSSPP, making it possible to verify gameplay, roms, and achievements in a trustless way. This helps retro gaming and high-score tracking by providing proof-of-play without giving away private files or user data. Game developers and players can use this for transparent leaderboards or in-game rewards. The compatibility with game bios and roms expands possibilities for tournaments and replay verification. This also allows decentralized game platforms to support fair play and digital ownership verification across multiple devices, including ios, iPhone, and Apple systems through supported projects. AI Agent Potential RISC Zero unlocks the use of AI agents in secure computational environments. AI agents running on RISC Zero can produce zero-knowledge proofs that their actions, training data, or decisions are legitimate and verifiable. This builds trust, as users do not need to see all underlying data or code to verify results. This capability is important for sensitive AI models that work with private data or competitive algorithms. By supporting p-code or modern programming environments, RISC Zero lets developers integrate AI with blockchain-backed verification. In turn, applications in finance, data science, or automation can harness trustworthy, privacy-preserving AI in their workflows. User Experience and Future Developments Risc Zero's airdrop process aims for clarity, community involvement, and ongoing technical improvement. Its focus on zero-knowledge computing and transparency attracts users who value both rewards and education. Distribution Process The Risc Zero airdrop gives clear steps to help users check their eligibility and claim tokens. Users must complete specific tasks, such as joining the Risc Zero community or engaging with product features. Progress and status for each task are tracked using online dashboards. Rewards are distributed fairly, and the process includes security checks to block bots or fake accounts. Risc Zero includes simple guides that make the steps easy for newcomers. The platform regularly updates its users about the distribution timeline through email and social media. No advanced tools or technical skills are required, so users can participate using basic devices and a standard internet connection (like Wi-Fi). Community Reception Feedback about the Risc Zero airdrop has been mostly positive. Users appreciate the step-by-step instructions, especially those who are new to crypto airdrops. The community is active on forums and social channels, where members share tips, clarify doubts, and report any issues. Some users have mentioned the importance of fair access and transparency during the distribution phase. Risc Zero's regular communication helps address concerns quickly, which builds further trust. There is significant interest in the technical aspects, such as zero-knowledge proofs, but the material is presented in a simple way to avoid confusion. Community events and question hours have also helped build user engagement and reduce frustration. Upcoming Enhancements Risc Zero has plans to grow its technology and community features.
