((Yet another disjointed mess! But it's done, that's that, even though I was tempted to add onto the end there I thought I better not because I have no idea how to draw dancing ponies among other issues. Sorry this one's another disappointment. :c

Inktober 7: Mermaid

@temper-temper's Jet Stream comes swimming in as a mermaid for today! Not just any mermaid though- an alligator gar based one! Mermaids can be based off other kinds of fish, right?

I’d love to see Starlight Glimmer in your style!

Lol, of all characters requested first, it's Starlight. So, here's a little fact about me: But I'm really not a big Starlight fan. But to be fair- I'm actually not a big fan of any character within the show. Mostly neutral, though I have a few I like a little more than others.

Anyways, while Starlight's personality is interesting, and her arc as well, her entire redemption fell flat for me. How quickly she was forgiven and brought into the main cast. I just didn't like it. It felt so out of place to me.

I wouldn't have minded a redemption arc for her, if anything I adore her friendship with Trixie. But I think I would've preferred her as a side character, not as another part of the main cast.

But I will admit that I am the type that prefers when a main cast kinda stays the same, rub the balance and it'll just feel off to me.

In the end what Starlight was missing the most, was more time to build up her character. To allow us to get to know her, her story, her reasons.

The December Coup

December 1, 1989

The December Coup was the biggest coup to ever hit the Republic of the Philippines. Around 3,000 elite Philippine Marines, Scout Rangers, and other Armed Forces personnel took part in the coup that attempted to overthrow the administration at the time. In the initial day of the coup, rebel forces not only managed to secure armor and groudn attack aircraft, but also captured important military facilities. The National Capital Region and many of the surrounding areas thus became a battlefield for several days, as loyalist soldiers held their ground against the rebelious troops. In the end, government forces won, but not after heavy casualties and losses in equipment.
