none other than the viral & wonderfully bizarre hito mania by sasuke haraguchi :-) !! its not often that a song as popular as this takes my number one slot! haraguchi has this talent for making sounds that should not ever be used in a song just... work. its so ridiculously catchy that i havent tired of it at all, even with the truly Massive influx of covers/remixes/mads/memes made since. its charm is precisely in just how eccentric, bizzare, and most importantly new it is. its something really fresh to the scene & im looking forward to more of haraguchi's vocalsynth stuff in the future!!

beautiful year for adachi rei & teto enjoyers in my opinion... tetos synthv release really caused such a huge uptick in teto originals & rei is still riding off of that heat abnormal high lol its been wonderful to witness

i promise you i'm surprised only one project voltage song made the list too! i guess i really only enjoyed inabakumori's song. jin's song is in here in spirit too (trans miku + eevee... perfection) but ultimately i'm not the hugest fan of the song itself (it is sooo cute though)

so many songs under two minutes long So so so sad this isn't healthy for them. you have to stop. this is a phenomenon happening across music in general and not specific to vocaloid whatsoever but i think its funniest to blame this on surii

quite a few xx/subeana styled songs made the list this year just bc i got really into exploring the genre!! and my youtube recommendations helped out a lot lol. keeping in true spirit with the genre though a number of them have since been unlisted

i included kyoufuu all back in the introductory paragraph but excluded it from my actual listing and this was not a mistake. i have sadly grown somewhat sick of it. such is the way with immense popularity... it really is a cute song but oh my god is yukopi getting so much damn mileage out of it

iyowa really knocked it out of the ballpark earlier this year with babel & actress those are both soooo so so good. actress in of itself is just a really well executed narrative whereas babel is such a clever song celebrating teto's synthv release (it being a duet between her synthv & utau banks, her drills quite literally as an inverted tower of babel, babel because her synthv bank allows her to sing in multiple languages... a slight copycat of a cynosure madonna!!!)

but mannn synthv releasing Both teto & gumi banks this year, not to mention the kafu announcement??? insane. its like a vocalsynth monopoly up in here

RAMBLING SECTION SOLELY FOR AKOTOBA: what a lovely lovely lovely song. part of its charm for me is the fact that, being a haraguchi song, you go into it expecting it to veer wildly off course or incorporate some sort of bizzare musical twist; but the twist is that there is no twist! its instead just this really pure & beautiful build up to a vibrant & joyful chorus, no tricks. its so celebratory sounding!! & i find it charming how its still obviously a haraguchi song, complete with his signature strangeness (the scream sfx), but tempered into something sooo sweet. the proseka note haraguchi wrote for the song too really melts my heart; i know it was meant to be somewhat humorous but i find something so so so beautiful in the concept of a song made for the first time in a world where music has all but virtually disappeared... im glad that miku + teto + haraguchi are all still alive and well in the year 3023 lol. genius move to have the title be a play on ai kotoba too. genuinely cannot help but break into a wide smile whenever i listen to this song

now with all my praise for haraguchi out of the way, my actual favorite producer of this year has to be.... yukuewat! i found them beginning of january and have been in love ever since. my favorite songs of theirs weren't released in 2023, so they make scant appearances on this list, but they were one of the producers i listened to the most this past year! their tuning is perfection to me, i feel like they occupy this really intrinsic-to-vocalsynth niche where their tuning is both robotic AND emotional; having all the harsh consonants and precisce diction you can only get from a vocalsynth but arrested with emotions that feel organic, despite sounding distinctly nonhuman. that is what vocalsynth is all about to me!!! not to mention their style is both addictively catchy & unique, i don't think i can name another musician off the top of my head who makes music like they do. theyre a huge huge favorite of mine, and with their gradually rising popularity, i hope more ppl come to recognize them soon!!!

and with all that said too, apparently according to youtube music my top artist for 2023 was not yukuewat but asanuko!!! i guess i listened to the speaker song more than i realized lol

This is a few months old. I wanted to post a new picture but I somehow did no drawing today.

I need to start G4 soon but I think I want to watch Miraculous Ladybug first. Somehow I have not watched the show yet.

I saw a few episodes when I went to Disney when I was younger and loved it but never got around to watching the show.

It is available for free on BBC iPlayer so I have no excuse now.

It seems like a fandom I could really get into.

I went charity shopping/thrifting today and got lucky. I found a sewing kit, fishnet tights, a hello kitty tank top, some mini My little pony's, and a fantastic dress. It is the miraculous ladybug colours, red with black spots. It is a fifties style dress that floats when I spin around.

Might post pictures of the clothes but I don't really like getting my picture taken.

Will definitely post pictures of the ponies though.

So far I have done pretty well in my goal of posting one piece of art everyday.

My last post got seven notes which isn't much but is big for me.

My next goal is 10, although I am not focusing on that much right now.

In the future it will be more important to have a bigger following for my art but as for right now I am just a beginner.

Tomorrow I should post miraculous ladybug art unless I change my mind. The fandom is already getting its claws into me and I have not even seen the show yet. I cannot be normal about the things I like.

Still listening to the magnus archives. I will start season 2 tomorrow. I might also start listening to bittersweet again. I like to balance out the horrors.

I was going to make a top 10 list, but that was so hard, and I wasn't sure if I could really rank my faves in a meaningful, coherent way. I don't really want to say hey, this song is better than this song, you know? I love them all! And there are so many of them! Instead, I'm just going to pick some songs to highlight and then ramble under them in a very informal way.

I've been a fan of SLAVE.V-V-R for years now, and he put out a lot of great stuff this year! We've also got Piercing the Viscera, featuring Gumi and Teto SV and LaVI-Bavellabion. I really enjoy this artist's work and this is my favorite song they released this year, I think. Also of note: Unknown Art (shiranai aato), which features a duet between Chis-A and a human vocalist.

Damatte-chan (feat. Kasane Teto) - Chinozo

Chinozo released a few bangers this year. See also: Taxi (feat. KAFU) and No Branding (feat. KAFU).

Igaku (feat. Kasane Teto [Utau]) - Sasuke Haraguchi

The recently released soto no hito is also great.

Monitoring (feat. Hatsune Miku) - Deco*27

Deco*27 has had a pretty productive year, but this one takes the top spot for me personally. I also really like HAO, Neverland, and Aitai-lians.

UTuber (feat. Hatsune Miku) - PinocchioP

This is my favorite of PinocchioP's releases this year, but they've all been fantastic, honestly. Isn't It A?, Fake Meme, and With or Without Me are instant favorites too.

Engawa (feat. flower) - Yukopi

Yukopi has continued to make some pretty cute songs after the success of Kyofuu All Back last year. I also enjoy Okiteru Daisakusen (feat. Kaai Yuki) and Help Me! Futonman! (feat. Kaai Yuki).

FIRE!!! (feat. Kasane Teto) - Jamie Paige

I can be a bit hard to sell on English Vocaloid songs, but JamieP is a pretty darn good songwriter and also does an incredible job tuning for English lyrics. Also released this year and worth your time: Machine Love (feat. Kasane Teto), ROT FOR CLOUT (feat. Kasane Teto), and I Wish That I Could Fall (feat. GUMI SV).

Shinchoku Dame Dame Desu (feat. Miyamai Moca SV) - GYARI

Another artist I've been a fan of for a while. I'm currently kind of obsessed with this one.

Binomi (feat. Hatsune Miku) - Maretu

I kinda wanted to post a few song drafts before the 2nd bc I had them done anyway but...they’re almost all in either Japanese or Mandarin and I can’t say they’re perfect, the Mandarin especially

I'm rotating Project Sekai TWEWY AU in my head again because I was jotting down notes for it.

The SEKAI Ends With You? What a Wonderful SEKAI? Are You Asking For Death from Hatsune Miku?

It would run like a mix of original TWEWY and NEO, because I think the entrance fees are GREAT for character but the group team aspect is essential. Band groups would all be the same. I think mostly they all start as strangers except when it's fun if they weren't.

(If they knew each other before the story starts they still know each other, but also LN is together already because I feel like that's fair. I would say Vivids and BAD DOGs are aware of each other but haven't teamed up yet until they all end up in the same team after death)

I do not have a full idea of what everyone's fees would be, but:

Tsukasa's entry fee is Saki's memories of him

Mafuyu's entry fee is her memories, period, because she doesn't have anything else to take

Mizuki and Ena both get appearance fees (middle school mizuki and invisible Ena, maybe?)

Saki's entrance fee is her health

Minori's entrance fee is her determination or her memories of Haruka (kinda interlinked???)

Nene's fee is her voice, little mermaid style, obviously

Ichika's fee is not knowing who Hatsune Miku is or any of the virtual singers

Reapers are the virtual singers. Regular Miku is the Composer because I think that's fair, but due to Unfortunate Circumstances I Haven't Decided Upon Yet she doesn't actually have enough reapers to keep a proper game going so she's split herself into five, weaker versions of herself to keep the system running. (idk who her conductor is. Part of me says it's the little marshmallow avatar of us, part of my says It's Teto).

Otherwise then I would say One variation of a Virtual Singer each to accompany said Miku (this works out mostly fine because each Miku is basically paired off anyways. Exceptions are VBS Miku, who gets Meiko rights and N25 Miku, who gets Len.)

Pins and Powers would likely be based off songs, undecided if they would be based off all songs or just commissioned ones. Everyone gets 1 power, but it has the potential to evolve into a different one (As You Like -> Showtime Ruler as a maybe example). The big group all out attack would naturally be named after the big main group song.

For fun I would also say we get Bonus Reapers for virtual singers who are in the game, but not properly (Una, Flower, GUMI, VY1, VY2, who have in game vocals off the top of my head without checking).

MMJ Miku gets Rin and Gumi

L/N Miku gets Luka and VY1

WxS Miku gets Kaito and Una

VBS Miku gets Meiko and VY2

N25 Miku gets Len and flower

No one stays Perma Dead in this AU because I am just not about that in the Miku Friendship Therapy game. The main crux would be that yes, everyone is playing to come back to life and there is a genuine danger of losing and dying. (and tbh probably some side characters might die) (things happen) (stories need drama)

But ultimately Miku is just trying to fill her Reaper ranks back out after An Unspecified Incident, so she would rather them alive but with a side job if they lose.

(currently have no idea who the winners of the game would be. Leo/need is in the Leo/lead though) (I feel like n25 would jump at the chance to be Reapers)

Maybe? A background plot about someone trying to take over as composer while regular Miku is weak and split in five pieces but I haven't thought that hard about it. One of the other Big Vocal Synths trying to encroach on Miku's territory while she's down, maybe. (It couldn't be... Teto Territory... UNLESS?)

I have Generalized Anxiety Disorder that manifests with some OCD-esque symptoms. I am on medications but it can only help so much. Not only do I have compulsions to fully (re)vet these posts, a time consuming manner, but I am also easily triggered into spirals due to the evils of the world.
