Krusty’s shockingly racist set is forgotten after this, if the episode had been made today it would be the focus of the story but here the fact his material is “dated” is the issue, so we move on to him reinventing his career. He never learns that his humor is offensive, only that it doesn't get laughs anymore, something he bemoans during his retirement speech, and as he goes back to “selling out” at the end of the episode, one presumes his old jokes return also.
