Focused footsteps and a wagon could be heard not far off from the marketplace, both growing louder in sound with each passing second. After what felt like a year long journey, Maeko was relieved to finally get her things into the free flowing nation, just in time for the festival.! Maeko's ventures into the business world was budding anew; just barely standing out in a sea of more popular merchants.
She did wave to any merchants she had come to recognize in passing, some from Sumeru, some from Inazuma, but was determined to get to her designated stand; settled just to the right of "The Saffron Prince".
Upon seeing him, she waved out of courtesy. "Good morning..!"
Saffrons in the Wind (Closed RP with @rosemarylemont)
The Windblume Festival has come Mondstadt. And the locals of the region are opening up their stands for the celebration of the Thousands Winds.
Among the stands is for one Jason Solmare, a flower and goods merchant from Liyue, the so called Saffron Prince. A small joke goes around that if there is the scent of saffrons in the wind, Mr. Solmare is open for business.
The young man can be seen, having set up his stand and arranging his stock.

Hello! You may find this story under the username outofusernames24 on platforms such as Fanfiction net and Archive of Our Own (AO3).
This is my primary fanfiction project, an isekai titled "The Road Not Taken."
The story revolves around three siblings—Gabbie, the eldest; Jude, the middle child; and Sammy, the youngest—who are unexpectedly transported, or isekai'd, to Teyvat. They inadvertently assume the roles of the Traveler, becoming both the hero and the Descenders. Currently, the trio are searching for their parents.

Alright, disclaimer and just a heads-up: SHoyo, the Beatles, Genshin Impact, and anything or things else involved—I don't own any of this stuff.
Also, quick warning: this story gets pretty heavy and deals with some sensitive stuff. It's kinda inspired by SAGAU (Self-Aware Genshin Impact Alternative Universe), isekai stuff, different isekai worlds, creation myths, and fanfic.

The Road Not Taken
Chapter 7-Farewell, Archaic Lord 1:
Jude's brow furrowed, a deep frown etching itself onto his face. The search for their parents was proving to be a frustrating endeavor. Half the day had been spent accosting merchants, each inquiry met with blank stares and shrugs. "Sato Haku? Never heard of him." Yet, Sato Haku was the key, the one who had sold Liben the phone, a device that defied the very fabric of Tevyat.
"Let's go to the har–" Jude started, his voice laced with a weary determination, but Gabbie gently cut him off.
"Let's take a break," she suggested, her hand finding its way to his shoulder in a comforting gesture. "It's no good searching on an empty stomach..." With a gentle pressure, she guided him toward the beckoning aroma of a nearby restaurant. Sammy, meanwhile, remained blissfully detached from their parental quest, lost in the pages of his book, seemingly unconcerned about the success or failure of their mission.
Gabbie's voice, a burst of "Oh, let's go there!" grated on Jude's already frayed nerves. He understood her excitement, they had arrived in a new country after all, but she was acting as if this was a holiday, not a desperate search. Sammy, lost in a world of tantalizing smells, simply nodded, his stomach clearly leading the way.
"Can't we at least look for a moment-" Jude began, his voice tight with the anxiety of finding his parents after two long years. He needed to see them, to know they were safe. But Gabbie, ever the optimist, cut him off.
"Food first, then we can start asking around, some more..." she chirped, already steering them towards the heart of Liyue Harbor, a place buzzing with life and a thousand different aromas.
"Besides, we still need to register with the Adventurers' Guild here so we can accept commissions," Gabbie added with a sigh, the reality of their situation momentarily dimming her enthusiasm as they began to climb the steps leading to Heyu Tea House. The teahouse was nestled in the city's upper district, almost daring to brush against the imposing Northland Bank and the elegant platform of Xinyue Kiosk.
"Fine, but let be quick about it..." Jude relented, the weight of responsibility heavy on his small shoulders. Gabbie playfully tousled his hair, a gesture meant to lighten the mood, but he just batted her hand away, a scowl forming on his face.
"I'm not a baby..." he muttered, feeling younger than his ten years. Sammy, oblivious to the tension, remained engrossed in his book, "Customs of Liyue," his brow furrowed in concentration.
"Come on, Jude, relax..." Gabbie encouraged, her voice laced with a concern he couldn't quite meet. He couldn't relax. He felt the burden of their journey, the reason for their departure from Mondstadt, pressing down on him. Sammy, barely four years old, didn't understand. It had been Jude, the ten-year-old, and Gabbie, their sixteen-year-old sister, who had made the decision to find their parents. Sammy was too young to remember them, his only memory a faint echo of the lullaby their mother used to sing.
Jude groaned inwardly. This was taking far too long. Sadly, Gabbie, Jude, and Sammy weren't the only patrons eager to eat at the tea house. The line seemed to stretch on forever, each tick of the clock amplifying Jude's anxiety.
"A table for three?" the server asked, his voice a melodic drone in the bustling room.
"Yes, please," Gabbie replied, her smile as bright as the afternoon sun.
But just then, another server, his face etched with a polite yet firm expression, walked over. "I apologize, Mr. Zhongli, but we don't have any tables for singles available at the moment."
"Oh, that is quite unfortunate," Zhongli responded, his voice a low, resonant hum that somehow cut through the surrounding chatter. Jude couldn't help but observe him. He had pale skin, like polished jade, and eyes of amber, flecked with unique, diamond-shaped pupils. Subtle red eyeliner accentuated their unusual beauty. His dark brown hair was mostly short, save for a longer fringe swept elegantly to the side, with distinct Geo-amber tips that seemed to catch the light. He was an arresting figure, radiating an aura of quiet dignity.
Jude saw Gabbie begin to speak, her ever-present helpfulness. "Would you care to join us? There's an extra seat at our table."
Sammy, completely absorbed in his book, a worn copy of "Customs of Liyue," shook his head absently yes, oblivious to the social dynamics unfolding around him.
"No, not at all...please, come join us," Jude muttered sarcastically under his breath.
"Then I shall," Zhongli stated, accepting the offer with a gracious nod, seemingly unaware of Jude's muttered protest.
Jude stepped back, allowing Gabbie to take the lead. In many ways, the sixteen-year-old was mirroring her mentor, Kaeya, especially when it came to navigating social situations. Jude watched, fascinated, as Gabbie effortlessly charmed her way through the conversation.
"So, Mr. Zhongli, do you frequent this establishment?" Gabbie's voice was light.
As she spoke, she ordered a pot of the most exquisite jasmine tea and a selection of refreshments.
"Indeed, I am a frequent visitor," Mr. Zhongli replied, his voice a low rumble. A server arrived, placing the delicate tea service on the table. Jude observed as Gabbie poured the fragrant tea into delicate cups.
He accepted the tea with a nod of gratitude before inquiring, "Where are you three traveling from?"
"Mondstadt," Gabbie answered, her voice smooth. It was a statement that was both a lie and the truth. Their journey had begun in Mondstadt, but their home was a world away from Teyvat.
Across the table, four-year-old Sammy watched Zhongli with keen eyes. There was something about him, a familiar aura that tugged at Sammy's memory, reminding him vaguely of Venti. When Zhongli offered a warm smile, Sammy, suddenly shy, buried his face in the colorful pages of his book.
Meanwhile, Jude listened intently as Gabbie spun a tale, impressed by her quick thinking and persuasive charm. "We're trying to find a merchant," she explained, improvising rapidly, "He sold our friend a beautiful antique, and we're hoping to buy more."
Zhongli, a master of observation, realized that these children were far from ordinary. A spark of curiosity ignited within him. "Do you happen to know the merchant's name?" he inquired, his voice smooth and measured.
"Sato Haku," Gabbie answered without hesitation.
Zhongli paused, a thoughtful expression crossing his face as he brought his teacup to his lips. "That name doesn't ring a bell," he admitted, taking a slow, deliberate sip. "However, I do have an acquaintance who might be of assistance."
Gabbie's eyes widened, a hopeful smile gracing her lips. "Really? That would be amazing; I would be so grateful..." Jude noticed, not for the first time, how much she was beginning to resemble Kaeya, her mentor. It was uncanny.
Kaeya, with his charming demeanor, was something of a local celebrity, particularly among Mondstadt's elder residents. They'd even jokingly dubbed him the "top candidate for grandson-in-law." During Gabbie's stay in mondstasdt, she too had garnered a reputation, not only as an honorary knight of Favonius, but also as Barbatos, the Anemo Archon's holy maiden. Inevitably, she'd earned her own title: "top candidate for future daughter-in-law." Gabbie, however, thought she was far too young for such a label.
Jude sighed, the urgency to uncover the merchant who held the thread to their parents.
"I do apologize for rambling on, Mr. Zhongli," Gabbie said, her voice laced with courtesy. "I haven't properly introduced myself, or my brothers for that matter. I'm Gabbie, and these are Jude and Sammy Ramirez," she gestured towards the ten-year-old and the four-year-old, a silent narrative of their shared burden.
"The pleasure is all mine," Zhongli replied, his voice a calming balm.
Jude offered a sharp nod. "Likewise."
But then, something shifted the air. Jude's gaze snagged on a figure approaching the makeshift stage a storyteller, his presence radiating an unspoken promise of tales yet to be spun.
"What's happening?" Jude asked, curiosity piqued. Zhongli's voice was a low murmur as he explained, "He's a storyteller."
"Dinner and a show..." A flicker of something akin to excitement, a rare and precious spark, ignited within Jude's weary heart.
Sammy set his book aside, drawn in by the voice of Tea Master Liu Su. "Well then, dear guests," the storyteller began, his eyes twinkling, "what tale shall grace your ears next?"
He paused, a thoughtful expression gracing his features. "The present days are quick to pass, their stories easily told – and few remain who truly recall the histories of old. Thus, we must pass down these tales, so that battles and sages, gods and adepti, are forever remembered." His hands moved with graceful gestures, captivating the sibling's attention.
"Now, lean close," he urged, his voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper, "and lend me your ears, for I shall speak of Rex Lapis. This tale begins two thousand years prior, in a time far removed from the peace you and I know. Liyue then was a battleground, a place of contention between countless gods. Foul demons roamed the land, and the people could find no words to describe their agony. Then, from the chaos, Rex Lapis arose as the head of the adepti, and saved the people from utter calamity..."
He continued, his voice weaving a tapestry of ancient times.
"Indeed, Rex Lapis was the Prime of Adepti, and by his side stood the Seven Guardian Yakshas, mighty even amongst their kin. It was during this era that Rex Lapis faced a great battle against a monstrous tyrant of the oceans. This sea monster was a true titan, with a head as broad as Mt. Tianheng! Just imagine it! How immense must its entire body have been? With its maw wide open, the sea monster lunged towards Liyue Harbor, intent on swallowing it and all its people whole!"
For emphasis, he banged his foot on the floor, the sound echoing through the room.
"But you must recall, dear guests," he reminded them, his eyes gleaming, "that Rex Lapis was a god, and he was not afraid! He commanded the adepti in a voice that boomed like thunder, and gathered rock unto him within one hand. Then, he summoned forth a rain of stones as large as buildings, beating that sea monster bloody! These colossal rocks plummeted into the seas, pinning themselves to the very ocean floor like so many long spears. Today, we know this place as the Guyun Stone Forest. And upon seeing this, the adepti and the yakshas surged forward, unleashing their weapons and adeptus arts upon the creature, filling its hide with countless wounds..."
"Ah, but now, wickedness stirred in the creature's black heart. 'O, this wretched Lord of Geo!' it thought, its rage building, 'I shall ruin his city, and then we shall see if he is more my foe, or their protector!' With this dark intent, the sea monster churned the oceans, sending forth a great wave hurtling towards the shore. Even the adepti were momentarily dismayed, ceasing their assault for an instant. But they looked to Rex Lapis, and lo! He was calm and unmoved. Why was Rex Lapis undaunted, you ask? But you must recall, dear guests, that Rex Lapis was a god, and he was not afraid!" He finished his tale with a bang. The room erupted in applause as he bowed deeply.
"Rex Lapis is nothing like Venti described..." Jude mused, his brow furrowed in thought. The ten-year-old sighed, the sound barely audible as he took a small sip of his tea.
As Gabbie's voice filled the air, carrying the thread of the conversation, Jude found himself fidgeting, a subtle unease settling over him. He paused, taking a deep breath as if to gather his thoughts.
"Now that you've seen the land of the absentee archon, my young friends," Zhongli began, his voice a low, resonant hum, "what are your impressions, knowing that our archon and adepti are present here in Liyue?"
Gabbie paused, her expression thoughtful. "We haven't been in Liyue long enough to really say..."
Jude looked away, his fingers gently rubbing his temples, as if trying to soothe a burgeoning headache. "I'm not sure..."
Sammy, lost in the world within the pages of his book, didn't respond immediately. He glanced up at his older siblings, a flicker of curiosity in his eyes, before returning to his reading.
"Oh, the food here..." He commented absently, taking another bite of whatever culinary delight had captured his attention.
"I imagine you three have yet to truly grasp the significance of Liyue's three thousand seven hundred years of divinity," Zhongli continued, his gaze sweeping over them. "Indeed, the true essence of Liyue's divinity is deeply rooted in the weight of its extensive history."
Gabbie's curiosity bubbled to the surface. "Is it true," she asked Zhongli, "that Rex Lapis walks among his people?"
Before Zhongli could offer a reply, a bright voice piped up. It was Sammy, his face alight with excitement. "Yes!" he declared. "I read about it in a book called Rex Incognito."
Jude, ever the practical, shook his head. "Sammy, buddy," he said, his tone patient, "the bookstore clerk told us that book was fiction."
But Sammy was not so easily dissuaded. "But Miss Lisa says that fictional stories are often rooted in truth," he retorted.
"Perhaps there's some truth to it," Gabbie mused.
"I suppose that's possible," Zhongli responded, a subtle amusement dancing in his eyes. Little did the three siblings know, as they debated the existence of a god among them, that they were speaking to him directly, to Rex Lapis himself.
Lunch with Mr. Zhongli had been a pleasant affair, and with it concluded, siblings Gabbie, Jude, and Sammy found themselves heading towards the Liyue branch of the Adventurers' Guild. A familiar face greeted them.
"Kathryn?" Gabbie couldn't help but exclaim, surprised to see the same Kathryn they knew from Mondstadt. Jude, ever the thinker, mused aloud, wondering if perhaps Kathryn was one of many twins, all sharing the same name and role. Their adventure party name was "Trailblazers." Their business concluded there, they moved on to the Millelith, hoping to file a missing person report for their parents. But alas, their efforts were met with a wall of bureaucratic obstacles, preventing them from making any headway. As the sun began to set, casting long shadows across the harbor, they retreated to the inn, the weight of their unresolved quest heavy on their young shoulders.
"So, tomorrow," Gabbie began, breaking the silence that had settled over them, ", we're supposed to meet with a Mr. Childe. Apparently, he's an associate of Mr. Zhongli. Right before the Rite of Descension, tomorrow."
A flicker of hope ignited in Jude's eyes. "Do you think he can help us find this merchant?"
Gabbie sighed, her brow furrowed with uncertainty. "I don't know... but simply asking around hasn't gotten us anywhere..."
Jude nodded slowly, a silent agreement passing between the siblings. Their options were dwindling, and they clung to the hope that this Mr. Childe held the key to unlocking the mystery of their missing parents.
Sammy didn't fret much about finding his parents. Truth be told, he couldn't recall them at all. His world was complete, nestled between the comforting presence of his older sister and brother. They were his anchor, his family, and that was all that mattered.
The first rays of dawn had barely gaze the horizon when the trio began their preparations. Jude, a sprightly ten-year-old, couldn't help but roll his eyes skyward as Gabbie, his ever-so-meticulous older sister, commandeered the mirror. The ritual of makeup application had begun.
"Do I look pretty?" Gabbie inquired, striking a pose and pointing to her meticulously crafted visage.
"Pretty, pretty ugly..." Jude shot back, punctuating his retort with an exaggerated eye-roll and a playful flick of his tongue. The age-old sibling rivalry was alive and well.
Gabbie, unfazed, simply hummed a little tune. "Besides, we're meeting Mr. Childe today... You know what Mom used to say: makeup is a woman's form of battle armor..."
Just then, a small voice piped up. "Morning..." Sammy, the youngest of the three at four years old, stood in the doorway, an open book balanced precariously on his head. It was evident that he had once again spent the entire night lost in the enchanting world of literature.
Gabbie sighed, a familiar smile gracing her lips. "Sammy, reading again," she murmured, gently lifting the heavy tome from the sleepy child's head. He barely stirred. With a practiced hand, Gabbie finished packing their bags, a flurry of movement as they prepared to leave the inn. She settled the bill with the clerk, her mind already on their destination.
The trio stepped out into the vibrant streets, making their way toward Yujing Terrace. The air thrummed with anticipation; merchants hawked their wares, vendors arranged their stalls, all in preparation for the upcoming Rite of Descension. The city was alive with a frenetic energy.
As they reached the Terrace, Gabbie scanned the crowd, her brow furrowing slightly. "I don't see Mr. Zhongli..." she said, a hint of concern in her voice. Jude, ever observant, glanced down at Sammy, who was once again lost in the pages of his book.
"What're you reading, buddy?" Jude asked, his voice laced with genuine curiosity.
Sammy looked up, his eyes sparkling "Yakshas: The Guardian Adepti," he announced proudly. "It's a tome of folk tales and legends by Masudi, a scholar from Sumeru. It's about the various yakshas who fought side-by-side with the Geo Archon throughout Liyue history..." A wide, innocent smile spread across the four-year-old's face, his passion for knowledge shining through.
A voice cut through the air, a cheerful greeting that echoed, "Hello there."
They turned to find the source: a tall young man, perhaps a few years Gabbie's senior. His ginger hair was cropped short, framing a face with listless blue eyes that seemed to hold a story of their own. A flash of crimson caught Jude's attention – a red Fatui mask, casually pushed to the side of his head. A beaded earring, also adorned with a red crystal, dangled from his left ear.
Gabbie, as was her nature, felt a blush creep up her cheeks. At sixteen, she found him undeniably handsome. Jude, however, with the sharp eyes of a ten-year-old, bypassed the charm entirely. He clutched Gabbie's hand, his small fingers digging in, his expression a silent alarm. "Fatui," he whispered, the word a hushed warning.
Despite Jude's caution, Gabbie, flustered, managed a nervous smile. She twirled a strand of her hair between her fingers. "Hello," she replied, her voice a little too high. "How can we help you?"
Jude watched, shaking his head in exasperation.
The question hung in the air, laced with an unfamiliar cadence. "Are you Gabbie Ramirez?" he asked, his eyes fixed on her.
Gabbie's heart fluttered. "Yes," she managed, a blush creeping up her neck despite her best efforts. Beside her, Jude's gaze narrowed, a silent assessment of the newcomer. Little Sammy, lost in the vibrant world of his storybook, remained blissfully oblivious to the undercurrents swirling around them.
"You must be her younger brothers, Jude and Sammy. Mr. Zhongli mentioned you both. He sends his regrets; he's unable to attend today..." The stranger's words trailed off, leaving a ripple of disappointment in their wake.
"That's unfortunate. I was hoping to speak with him," Gabbie confessed, her initial excitement dimming slightly.
A smile touched the stranger's lips, and a spark of confidence lit his eyes. "Come now," he said, "I'm confident I can help you find whatever you're looking for. My name, it's Childe."
Jude, ever watchful, caught the heightened color in his sister's cheeks, a silent question forming in his mind.
"In that case, let's head over to witness the Rite of Descension festivities," Gabbie suggested, her voice a touch brighter, a subtle redirection of the unfolding encounter.
Childe's voice, light and almost too cheerful, cut through the air. "Mr. Zhongli, a consultant for Wangsheng Funeral Parlor, and a known associate of the Fatui," he announced, a playful.
Gabbie's expression tightened. "I see, the Fatui..." Her opinion of the organization was, to put it mildly, unfavorable. The Dvalin incident in Mondstadt still lingered in her mind, a stark reminder of their disruptive influence.
"Oh, come now," Childe countered, his tone disarming. "I admit we have a few unsavory characters, but we're not all that bad." He had a knack for winning people over, and Gabbie found herself nodding in reluctant agreement.
Childe continued, his gaze sweeping across the crowd. "Wangsheng's work can be... delicate at times. Suffice it to say, they understand the importance of discretion. And we, the Fatui, have always been pleased to conduct business with allies who operate in the shadows..." He gestured vaguely, leaving the implications hanging in the air.
"You make Mr. Zhongli sound like an assassin, not the funeral consultant he is," Gabbie chuckled, trying to lighten the mood. But Jude remained silent, his young face etched with distrust. He harbored a strong dislike for Childe; there was something unsettling about his listless blue eyes, a coldness that belied his cheerful facade. Even at the tender age of ten, Jude knew he didn't trust him, not one bit.
Gabbie found herself easily drawn into Childe's orbit, his charm a subtle, yet irresistible force. Perhaps it was their shared burden of responsibility, the invisible weight of being older siblings to younger ones, that forged an immediate connection. He, three years Gabbie senior,Childe possessed a maturity.
"You have sisters?" Gabbie asked.
"Yes," Childe replied, a hint of warmth entering his voice. "Two older sisters, both married, and a younger one named Tonia. I write to her quite often..."
Sammy, eyes wide with a child's keen observation, watched Childe speaking with their sister. A tug at Jude's sleeve broke his focus. Sammy's small voice, hushed and secretive, whispered a word he didn't recognize. "Blood...warrior," Sammy breathed.
With Childe gone, Jude released a heavy sigh. "You talk and flirt too much..."
Gabbie bristled, her irritation clear. "I wasn't flirting, brat; I was being effective. He's going to help us find this Sato Haku, and that's our ticket to finding Dad and Mom."
Jude, ever the cautious ten-year-old, piped up, "He's Fatui. They're kind of untrustworthy..."
"Not all Fatui are bad, trust me. We're going to find Dad and Mom," Gabbie reassured him, pulling both her brothers into a comforting embrace. But as she held them, a wave of guilt washed over her. Talking to Childe had stirred up memories of her high school friends. For a fleeting, bittersweet moment, she'd felt like a normal teenager again, not just a girl lost in a fantasy world with her brothers.
The blare of horns and the thunder of drums vibrated through the cobblestone streets, a chaotic symphony accompanying the vibrant performances of street artists. Gabbie, her heart swelling with a familiar warmth, hoisted Sammy onto her back, the small boy giggling as he gained a better view. Together, Gabbie, Jude, and Sammy began their ascent up the winding stairs to Yujing Terrace to witness the legendary Rex Lapis descend from the heavens, a spectacle they were about to view in Liyue.
Reaching the terrace, Jude tugged at Gabbie's sleeve, his eyes wide with curiosity. "Who's that?" he asked, pointing towards a figure bathed in the afternoon sun.
Gabbie, still adjusting Sammy on her back, squinted. "That's...?" she murmured, her finger tracing a line in the air. "I think it's one of the Tianquan, one of the Qixing..."
Sammy, perched high above, craned his neck, his voice filled with innocent wonder. "Is he really coming down from the sky?"
Gabbie chuckled, her eyes sparkling with amusement. "Yes..." she replied.
At Ningguang's unwavering command, the Rite of Descension began precisely as planned. Anticipation hung heavy in the air, a palpable thing as the clouds parted, revealing Rex Lapis, Liyue's revered deity. But the hopeful atmosphere shattered in an instant. A collective gasp swept through the assembled crowd as, instead of a god's glorious arrival, the lifeless body of Rex Lapis plummeted from the heavens, crashing onto the offering table with a sickening thud. Dead.
Ningguang, her face a mask of grim determination, swiftly examined the scene. Her voice, when it came, was sharp and decisive, cutting through the stunned silence. "Rex Lapis is dead! Seal the exits!"
"He's dead...." Gabbie murmured, the words barely audible, lost in the echoing shock.
"Like, he totally fell from the sky...and just dropped dead..." Jude, her ten-year-old brother, added, his voice a shaky whisper. Sammy, the youngest of the group, remained speechless, his eyes wide with disbelief, the horrifying image seared into his memory.
The air in Liyue was thick with unease. Rex Lapis was gone, and the Millelith, ever vigilant, had begun detaining merchants and travelers from beyond the harbor's familiar shores. It was this heightened state of alert that led Gabbie, Sammy, and Jude to find themselves unjustly confined within the cold, unyielding bars of a jail cell.
Unbeknownst to them, Childe had intended to intervene, to pluck them from the path of the Millelith before they were swept up in the city's anxieties. But fate, it seemed, had other plans. A wry chuckle escaped his lips as he considered their predicament. He could only hope they wouldn't become entangled in the web of his own machinations. They seemed, after all, like genuinely good people
Gabbie's anxiety manifested in a restless pace within the confines of their jail cell. Back and forth she walked, the silence amplifying the dread of the impending interrogation. Jude lay flat on his back, arms crossed, his gaze lost in the cold, unyielding ceiling. Sammy, the baby of the family at four, was a world away, his brow furrowed in concentration as he meticulously examined the cell's lock.
"Don't we have a right to a lawyer?" Jude finally broke the silence, clinging to the familiar laws of Earth as a lifeline.
"No, that's only on Earth," Gabbie replied, her voice laced with uncertainty. "I don't even know how their legal system works here..."
Suddenly, a triumphant grin spread across Sammy's face. With a soft click, the lock sprang open. He pushed the heavy door ajar, his small voice ringing with accomplishment. "There..."
"Seriously, Sammy buddy, you can do that?" Jude exclaimed, his eyes wide with disbelief. He turned to Gabbie, seeking an explanation, but she could only offer a helpless shrug.
Just as they were contemplating their newfound freedom, a woman appeared at the entrance to the cell block. She handed a sealed scroll to a stoic Millelith soldier.
"I received another letter from the Tianquan," she announced, her voice crisp and professional. "It seems the situation has changed yet again. Where are those three outlanders from Mondstadt?"
But their escape was not to be. As the three siblings prepared to slip away, Yelan appeared, a stern-faced guard at her side.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you..." Yelan's voice was smooth, yet carried an undeniable weight of authority. "You're to come with me to see Lady Ningguang..."
And so, their brief taste of freedom was snatched away. Instead of escaping into the unknown, the three siblings found themselves escorted, under guard, towards the majestic heights of the Jade Palace.
The siblings stood, a trio facing Ningguang, the Tianquan of the Liyue Qixing. Her presence was as commanding as the Jade Chamber itself, the floating palace that was a testament to her power and influence. It was said that as a business magnate, her reach extended to every corner of Liyue.
Gabbie felt a small tug on her arm. Four-year-old Sammy, eyes wide with a mixture of awe and nervousness, whispered about their "gift," a customary offering in these lands. Ten-year-old Jude, stood beside Gabbie in stunned silence, seemingly overwhelmed by the sheer presence of Lady Ningguang. Gabbie gave Sammy a reassuring nod, then reached into one of their bags. She retrieved a bottle, its glass catching the light – a bottle of apple cider wine, a parting gift from Diluc.
Taking a deep breath, Gabbie stepped forward. "Please accept this gift," she said, her voice steady despite the tremor in her hands. "It is a wine of exceptional quality, from Mondstadt."
Ningguang was a vision. Her skin, fair as porcelain, framed crimson eyes that missed nothing. Long, straight hair, a cascade of white-beige that faded into ashy tips, flowed around her with an ethereal grace. Even the smoking pipe she carried seemed less a habit and more a deliberate part of her striking ensemble.
With a subtle nod, she signaled one of her attendants, who glided forward to relieve Gabbie of the wine bottle. "A gift for me? My thanks," Ningguang said, her voice a silken thread woven with authority. She paused, her gaze sweeping over them, a hint of apology in its depths. "I understand that my actions may have inconvenienced you, especially given that you were intended to be my guests. It is not often that outsiders are granted access to the Jade Chamber. However," she continued, her tone shifting, becoming more conversational, "I have been in communication with the Acting Grand Master of the Knights of Favonius, who spoke favorably of the three of you. Consequently, I have had you under observation since your arrival in Liyue..."
Ningguang looked at the three, they were quite young, it didn't matter."The reason I invited you here was to clear up some misunderstandings. I need your assistance, will you lean me your aide..."
Jude's eyes shone with resolve. His older sister was a celebrated hero in Mondstadt, an honor he desperately craved for himself. He envisioned the day he would locate their parents, eager to share his heroic exploits with them. Before Gabbie could respond, he blurted out,
"Of course, we will!" Jude exclaimed, his enthusiasm surprising Gabbie, who had been about to refuse, a sigh already forming on her lips.
"However..." Gabbie hesitated, "we require something in return. We are searching for a merchant named Sato Haku. If you could assist us in locating him, we would be eternally grateful."
A broad smile illuminated Jude's face. "That's all? Just help find this merchant?"
Ningguang, seated regally, raised a perfectly arched eyebrow as she puffed on her pipe. "Very well..." she said, a hint of amusement coloring her tone. "I presume you three are acquainted with the Archon War?"
"Yes!" Sammy chirped, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "It was a war fought approximately two thousand years ago...between numerous different gods!"
"Precisely." Ningguang nodded, impressed by the four-year-old's knowledge. "Many gods once roamed this earth, engaged in perpetual conflict until two thousand years ago. So much blood was shed, so many lives were lost." She paused, her gaze drifting towards the horizon. "Ultimately, only seven victors emerged, the strongest among them. They established their cities and nations upon the remains of the defeated, ushering in the age of The Seven. You can see Guyun Stone Forest from here, can't you?" She gestured towards the distant, jagged landscape. "Those are not natural rock formations. They are colossal stone spears, hurled by Rex Lapis himself during the war. Beneath those spears lie the gods he vanquished, those who failed to secure the title of Archon. It serves as a stark reminder that even gods are mortal, and that the composition of The Seven has evolved throughout the millennia. Rex Lapis's passing is an unparalleled catastrophe for Liyue, but the order of The Seven will not crumble because of it. Another Geo Archon will inevitably ascend, but how can we ever forget Rex Lapis? When that time arrives, the relationship between the people of Liyue and the gods and adepti will undoubtedly transform. Even in this new era, the Liyue Qixing remain Rex Lapis's former subjects... Do you truly believe we are capable of participating in his demise? Or that we lack the foresight to anticipate the inevitable consequences...?"
Gabbie's eyes narrowed, her voice laced with disbelief. "Are you implying that some people suspect you orchestrated his death?" she asked, the weight of the accusation hanging heavy in the air. It seemed the whispers had already begun, painting the Liyue Qixing as the villains in Rex Lapis's untimely demise.
Ningguang's expression remained unreadable, a mask of composure barely concealing the turmoil within. "Indeed," she confirmed, her voice a low murmur. "The adepti, scattered throughout Liyue's wilderness, believe we are responsible for our Lord's death." A flicker of frustration crossed her features. "Someone influenced them before we had the chance to explain. Now, I fear they may unite against us."
She turned to Gabbie, her gaze intense and pleading. "Therefore, on behalf of the Qixing, I implore you to speak with them. As an unbiased party, they might be more inclined to listen to you..." The unspoken words hung in the air, a clear indication of Ningguang's distrust of her own people, a desperate plea for an outsider to bridge the widening chasm of suspicion and resentment.
The siblings vanished, embarking on a quest to find the elusive Adepti. Left in the echoing silence of Yujing Terrace, Ningguang watched them go, the smoke from her pipe curling into the air like fleeting thoughts. She poured herself a glass of wine, the crimson liquid a stark contrast to the pale stone around her.
Today, everything had unfolded with the abruptness of a thunderclap. Rex Lapis, the Geo Archon, the God of Contracts, was dead. He had fallen from the sky, a spectacle that had shaken the very foundations of Liyue.
The trio, Gabbie, Jude, and Sammy, ventured deep into the untamed lands of Liyue, their path eventually leading them to the mystical Jueyun Karst. This place, steeped in legend, was whispered to be the dwelling of the adepti. Most folk steered clear, but the brave, or perhaps the desperate, sought them out, hoping to catch a sliver of good fortune.
"Do you hear that?" Jude's voice cut through the air. Gabbie, instantly recognizing the sounds of battle, instinctively placed her hand on the hilt of her rapier.
"Quietly, let's observe..." she instructed, her eyes narrowed. Jude, ever eager, hefted his oversized ax, while Sammy, ever cautious, nestled safely between them.
The scene that unfolded before them was one of chaos and raw power. A magnificent stag, its brown fur streaked with olive-green as if woven from the very fabric of the forest, was locked in a fierce battle with the Millelith soldiers stationed there. Bodies were being tossed around the clearing like ragdolls. This was no ordinary beast; this was Moon Carver, an adeptus known throughout the land for his kindness, now consumed by a grief and rage that twisted his noble spirit.
"Please-" one of the soldiers pleaded, his voice trembling.
"Master Adeptus-" another choked out, before being sent hurtling through the air.
"Disturbing our borders, killing our lord. I will not tolerate this intrusion..." Moon Carver's voice boomed, echoing through Jueyun Karst, a chilling testament to his fury.
Gabbie knew she had to intervene; the adeptus was on the precipice of slaughtering the soldiers. Her mind raced, calculating the odds.
"Jude, keep Sammy safe..." she commanded, her voice firm. But Jude, never one to be left on the sidelines, stubbornly refused.
"No, I'm coming too..." he insisted, his grip tightening on his ax.
Gabbie sighed, knowing there was no time to argue. "Sammy, climb up that tree..." she directed, pointing to a sturdy pine, then turned her attention to Jude. "Do as I say... when I say jump..."
"Jump... I know, I know..." The ten-year-old tightened his grip on his ax, his eyes fixed on the unfolding battle. Moon Carver, in his rage, was momentarily taken aback. These two were unfamiliar to him. The girl had appeared as if from thin air, wielding a rapier of all things, and blocked his attack, shouting at the soldiers.
"Get up, we'll hold him back..." she urged, her voice ringing with determination.
The younger boy slammed his ax into the ground, summoning the power of Geo to shift the earth and air, aiming for a direct hit. "Jude!!" the girl called out, her voice sharp. This Jude, understanding her intent, shifted his focus, targeting the adeptus's legs with a surge of earth-shattering force.
Despite his youth, Jude possessed a strength that didn't match his age, wielding elemental power without the aid of a Vision. Moon Carver, his ancient eyes sharp and observant, watched the boy, then turned his gaze to the older girl. Jude gripped an axe, the weapon appearing slightly oversized for his small frame.
"Please, stop this madness..." the girl pleaded, her voice echoing the desperate cries of the soldiers who had guarded the forest for years. Moon Carver, still raw with grief over Rex Lapis's demise, initially dismissed the two children as mere distractions.
"And who might you be? Those who dare to trespass into Jueyun Karst?" Moon Carver demanded, his voice resonating through the ancient trees, a sound that could shake the very mountains.
"We were sent by the Qixing... My name is Gabbie, and this is my brother Jude. Our little brother, Sammy, is in the tree over there..." Moon Carver hadn't anticipated seeing such a young child perched on a branch, waving at him with innocent glee.
"They didn't kill Rex Lapis... Believe me; we were there, all of us..." Jude interjected, his voice firm despite his age, before Gabbie could elaborate more.
"I find that hard to believe. A messenger bearing a Sigil of Permission... It has been many seasons since such an item has been presented. Of course, I acknowledge its existence, but how can I be certain you are not deceiving me...?" Moon Carver loomed large, casting a long, imposing shadow over them. Gabbie, without hesitation, stepped forward, shielding Jude from the adeptus's intense gaze.
"Memories..." Sammy chirped, descending from the tree with the agility of a squirrel, positioning himself protectively behind his older siblings.
"The adepti have the ability to share memories..." Sammy explained, his voice small but clear. "Okay, that sounds reasonable..." Gabbie added, nodding in agreement, her eyes pleading with Moon Carver to understand.
"Then, look into our memories, and you will see that we telling the truth..." Jude declared, his small hand reaching out to touch Moon Carver's snout. Gabbie and Sammy followed suit, their touch a silent plea for understanding.
For a fleeting moment, they shared the harrowing memories of the Rite of Descension, the scene playing out in Moon Carver's mind as vividly as if he had been there himself. They witnessed Rex Lapis's sudden and inexplicable fall, the shock and horror etched on their young faces.
"Preposterous..." Moon Carver rumbled, his voice laced with disbelief. "The mind has reached its conclusion. However, consultation with my brethren is necessary, lest my judgment be flawed... I believe the truth is known. The Qixing are innocent. I will confer with Mountain Shaper; however, I suspect the other two will be more difficult to persuade, especially Cloud Retainer. She can be found in this area. Fate alone will determine if you encounter them. There is a Conqueror of Demons, a Guardian Yaksha. Seek him out at Wangshu Inn..." Moon Carver instructed, his voice softening slightly, before sending the three children on their way, their quest far from over.
With Wangshu Inn in their sights, Gabbie adjusted Sammy on her back, his small arms wrapped securely around her neck.
"Did I help?" Sammy's voice, small but filled with earnest curiosity, broke the comfortable silence. At four years old, the line between reality and fantasy blurred, and the concept of battling a rampaging adeptus seemed as commonplace as a game of tag.
Jude, ever the reassuring presence, offered a warm smile. "You did, buddy. Sharing our memories was a brilliant idea."
Gabbie's voice, laced with affection, chimed in, "You're so smart, Sammy... I'm always amazed." Her eyes met Jude's, a silent conversation passing between them. A promise, unspoken yet deeply felt, solidified in that shared glance: they would protect Sammy, shield him from harm, no matter the cost.
When they arrived at Wangshu Inn, the Conqueror of Demons was nowhere to be found, his return shrouded in uncertainty. With a sigh, Gabbie decided to rent a room for the night.
Once settled, Gabbie, Jude, and Sammy shared a simple meal before retreating to their room for the night. Sleep soon claimed them, but for Jude, it brought a bittersweet dream.
"Thank you for preventing the Adepti from holding us accountable for Rex Lapis's demise," Lady Ningguang said in his dream, a playful glint in her eyes as she gestured with her pipe.
"We located Sato Haku, and we also found your parents..." Jude said with a smile, embracing his mother and father in his dream.
"Look at you, Jude, you've grown so strong! It's amazing that you can wield an Axe!" his father exclaimed, affectionately tousling his short, dark hair.
"Mi precious nino..." his mother whispered, enveloping him in a warm embrace. "Shall I prepare your favorite Crispy Tacos?"
"Mom and Dad, you should have seen Jude; he was incredibly smart. I would have been lost without him, especially since I can be a bit dumb and stupid..." Gabbie remarked, praising Jude to his parents in the dream.
"Jude is the coolest brother ever..." Sammy chimed in, spinning around them excitedly. But it was all a dream, a phantom echo of longing spoken in his sleep.
Gabbie, however, remained awake. She continued her correspondence with Kaeya, a furrow creasing her brow as she overheard Jude calling out for their parents in his sleep. She glanced over at Sammy, who was clutching the book Lisa had gifted him, his face peaceful in slumber. With a gentle hand, she draped a blanket over them.

🍁🍰 hyodo juza
They call Hyodo Juza, “Defender of Childhood Dreams”.
Because if you make a promise, you keep it. If you make a mistake, you apologize. If you give someone a dream, you defend it ‘til the end.
Despite always being away from his home country of Snezhnaya, Juza found himself keeping his word no matter where he went. As one of the older brothers of the Hyodo household, Juza could clearly remember his younger siblings’ tears as he departed all those years ago.
“Toymakers go all around the world for the best toys! I’ll send home lots of gifts, promise.” Juza swore on his life before disappearing away in the snow, wielding the emblem of the Fatui at eighteen.
“Brother Kumon, I will be home soon. I will take the first ship home, just as I promised—and you know how I always keep my promises.”
Yours faithfully, Your loyal knight
Juza sits in Liyue now, the ink staining the parchment against his will as he carefully signs his name. Gifts of all kinds sat beside him, such as kites, rattle drums, porcelain dolls, and snacks. After all, Juza did make a promise to send gifts. His younger brother, Kumon, deserved the best.
Before Juza could remember the chill of the snow down his spine and the numbing cold of frostbite he hadn’t felt in so long, the surface of his tea became unevenly rippled. At a distance, Juza could already tell it was you. Your rather odd companion, Paimon, could be sighted a mile away with how loud she was. On the other hand, you attentively listened as you stood out amongst the crowds.
Placing his quill down, Juza placed a pleasant smile upon his face. For a second, Snezhnaya disappeared. The frozen binding of his loyalty to her Majesty, the Tsaritsa, melted to reveal a heart longing for you to turn your head.
Even if it was for a moment, Juza’s head cleared of it all. His family waiting for him to conquer the world, his brother awaiting his latest toys, the expectation of laying all seven stars upon the Cryo Archon’s feet. All of it disappeared and all that was left was your face.
Honorary knight of Mondstadt. Hero that slayed Dvalin, or Stormterror. Lost twin looking for your sibling across Teyvat. You, a person from a different world, had made Juza forget why he had been fighting. Ever since he was fourteen, Juza fought tooth and nail just to survive. Now, Juza almost felt like he didn’t have to even move a finger as you met his eyes and returned his smile.
Juza would go through the abyss again, for three years even, to keep that smile.
When you walked over to his table of one, Juza lifted his hand in a wave as he called your name. Like you two were just friends, and nothing more. However, friends... wasn’t enough, not for Juza.
“Finally! My only worthy opponent, have you come for another fight?” Juza half-joked, his voice betraying his rumbling excitement and passion to be beaten once again. You always managed to gain the upper hand despite everything, and the rush of feeling like he was about to die gave him a thrill like no other.
But, you just shook your head as Paimon rolled her eyes, crossing her little arms mid-air. “Gosh, Juza, all you think about is fighting!” Juza held his hands up as if he surrended (he never actually would) and rested his hand on his spear, feeling the cool metal. Juza could imagine the electric sensation of his delusion, crackling for a fight regardless.
Only you could get him so worked up, Juza thought.
“No, I. . .” You trailed off, pausing to look away. The lowering sunset reflected in your eyes, like waves of Liyue’s harbor. Juza watched as your heart beat faster, uncertain, which was strange for such a renown legend in the making. Finally, you met his eyes with the confidence he knew and loved.
“I wanted to see you again before you left Liyue.” You honestly admitted and Juza let out a breath he didn’t know he was holding. The bustling merchants of the city of contracts continued to thrive around the two. Carts of many merchandises wheeled past them, children ran by making up fantasies beyond the ocean, and business never stopped as trade went on and on. This was Liyue at its finest, and Juza was sure he’d miss it. Or, more specifically, you.
“Really? Perhaps I’ll have to take you home to my family one day. In the snowy hills where everything is cold.” Juza spoke like he was telling a story, as if he was speaking to Kumon back in their one-room hut. As if the snowflakes were in their hair, gloves keeping their hands functional, and makeshift fire was burning weakly between them. You seemed to change, posture weakening as if you were... safe.
You relaxed and didn’t have that subconscious to fight, not when you were with Juza. While you and Juza were two opposite ends of the spectrum, you two had one similarity that bound you together: being born into a life where fighting was the only option. Your hand that always hovered above your weapon fell to your side, and you took a seat across from Juza.
Juza, eleventh Harbringer of the Fatui, feared by all for his chaotic wild card battles. Yet, here he was, writing back home and drinking tea with a traveller who had done the impossible. You made him feel like putting down his weapons and running away, you made him want a second chance at life. As long as it was with you. Only you.
“Snezhnaya... tell me about it.” You said and Juza’s fingers twitched. Visions flew by his mind rapidly, mostly unpleasant and hard to speak of at a place like this. Juza wouldn’t dare tell you about the droughts of hunger when the war left the people to fend for themselves, the iced-over corpses serving as markings in the mountains, nor the everlasting pine trees that spoke of disaster with each collapse. Juza couldn’t say it, not when you were looking at him so wholeheartedly.
“My favorite thing to do is ice-fishing.” Juza started and launched into a whirlwind of his number one hobby. Spoke of the early morning hours cutting holes into thick layers of ice, wobbly legs shaking on the large expanse of the frozen lake, and sitting in silence as wildlife swam beneath them. Juza told you about the spike of adrenaline when he could feel the ice crack haphazardly, the jagged splits uncommon but exciting every time. When Juza shared his most beloved memories, he couldn’t help but feel the Snezhnayan cold with the closest possible feeling to joy.
You listened once again, face pensive and eyes focused on Juza’s hand motions, content tone, and honesty above all. You could almost see the nameless lake, the snow banks, the shadows of fish. You exhaled, and despite the warm atmosphere of Liyue, you swore you could see your breath solidify as if it was Dragonspine.
When Juza closed off his story with a smile, you spoke without a care in the world. As if your sibling wasn’t missing. As if you didn’t have to find all seven archons. As if the fate of Teyvat wasn’t upon your shoulders. Right now, it was just you and Juza. Juza and you.
“When I come to see you in Snezhnaya, I want to have your best fish dish.”
Juza propped his elbow upon the table, before holding his pinky out. You took it with your own, and Juza shot you a wink of many unsaid words. A contract, if you will. Fitting for Liyue.
“It’s a promise. You know I always love testing my limits for my opponents.”
If you make a promise, you keep it.
Juza pulled back first, as he always did. Standing up, Juza paid the bill generously with his excessive Mora. The words “goodbye” left a spicy taste on his tongue, so Juza refused to say them. You two held each other’s gaze for a moment too long, but didn’t mention it.
“I’m sorry for leaving you so soon.”
If you make a mistake, you apologize.
You didn’t react immediately, you just nodded as if it was okay. It wasn’t, really. You both knew Juza’s sudden departure was shrouded in unknown mystery. Neither of you had the courage to properly address it, however.
“But, I’ll see you again. I promised, didn’t I?” Juza began walking away, knowing he was due to leave and run far, far away to his next assignment. Liyue had no place for him anymore. Even when the stars of Teyvat claimed there would always be a place for adventurers, Juza wasn’t so sure if they meant him as well.
All you wanted to do was run after him. Sprint towards Juza and make him stay, even though he never would. You wanted to stand up and weave through the crowds to see his back one last time. But, you didn’t. You didn’t want to make this harder on yourself than it already was.
Before Juza disappeared for a long, long time, he looked over his shoulder with a wave.
“Farewell, my friends. Until we meet again... in Snezhnaya.”
If you give someone a dream, you defend it ‘til the end.

❧ Ultimate Tea Sommelier, Danganronpa Twenty years after Junko Enoshima's terror on the world and the subsequent rebuilding of society, Maeko Yoshinaga is one of many students who were admitted into the 'new' Hope's Peak Academy as the Ultimate Tea Sommelier. Because of her natural gifts with herbalism and tea making, she was pressured into taking over her father's tea shop and turning it into a business that would become one of the most known in Japan, rivaling that of major tea corporations and exporters.~
❧ Trapped, Genshin Impact -- pre Chapter 2 Though she was born and raised in Inazuma, Maeko and her father would move to Sumeru for better education and job opportunities. But, after taking a trip back home to visit her mother, she suddenly found herself locked inside the country under the newly instated Sakoku decree and being hunted simply for having a vision. Fearing what they'd do to her family for harboring a fugitive, she took to After nearly having her vision being seized by the Tenryou Commission, she joined alongside the Resistance in pushing back against the decrees as a field medic.~
❧ That Traveling Tea Merchant -- Post Chapter 2 After a long year of being trapped inside Inazuma's borders under the Sakoku decree; Maeko, a dendro vision user, celebrates Inazuma's reinstated freedom being by leaving the country. After spending so much of her life in either Inazuma or Sumeru, she longed to see what the rest of Teyvat had to offer. Starting off in Liyue, she's set her heart in exploring the six corners of Teyvat, documenting her travels in letters and journals to send back home..~
❧ The Goddess of Dreams, God AU -- It was a known rule that if you were crossing through the Crown of Enulla enchanted forest, it would be more than wise to stick to the path; for those who stray never seem to find their way back. Though. There seems to also be a tale told about the forest, that a single being, aside from the woodland creatures and nymphs, resided deep into the forest. If you somehow managed to stumble across her cabin, you’d be greeted with a world of delights: sweets, drinks, a sense of comfort that is damn near incomprehensible to mortals. The Goddess of Dreams will offer you all she can before sending you away. But, if asked, she could perform a reading for you. Take a single sip of her special tea and be dragged into a plane of existence only she can access. She will attempt to look into your dreams and if she is unable to, no matter how beautiful it may be, it will only remain that of a dream. However, if she to able look into your dream, no matter how horrific or catastrophic it may be, it will no longer be a dream, but a prophecy of what is to come.

"'The Saffron Prince'."
She repeated, taking the moment to behold the flower he held out. She wasn't a complete stranger to the spice, she's seen it make its rounds in various markets but never had she seen the raw flower and by god was it beautiful. Maeko smiled.
"The flower is gorgeous but I haven't had the chance to use the spice. It's a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Solmare. I might have to buy a few from you once this is all over."

"Me? Well, I came from Port Ormos in Sumeru but I'm a native from Inazuma."
One by one she emptied the boxes from her cart to the shelves and table. Amongst her stock was boxes of teabags both medicinal and recreational -- each made by hand -- or grounded raw ingredients from the likes of Sumeru and Inazuma. She had long known of Mondstadt's rich relationship with wine and spirits, but the humble little saleswoman hoped that maybe her teas would leave some sort of impression on the residents. A positive one, preferably.
"This is my first time here in Mondstadt. And I see no better time to do so than during it's yearly festival, don't you agree?"
