let’s get one thing straight about the Minecraft movie. It cannot be labeled a good or bad movie based on viewing it alone. As anyone who’s been looking at the reviews for it have seen, opinions on the matter are very split. To truly decide if the Minecraft movie was good or not, we need to know intentions.
If the intention of this movie was to use the nature of the inevitable cringe of the movie to not only: enhance comedic jokes that are more childish or poorly written by showing their qualities as purposeful, but also dig deeper into the nostalgic side of people and call out their childhood interactions with Minecraft as cringe but in a good way, yeah I think it was a good movie.
if the intention was to create something well made, complex, and clever while also adhering to modern day movie standards and working for the viewer intelligence points rather than viewer nostalgia points, it is not a good movie.
Yes the Minecraft movie is cringe, and yes the sheep look weird, and yes some of the dialogue is funky, and yes there are a million flaws but that’s the point. Or, it should be. If the Minecraft movie wants to be considered good, it needs to use these things to its advantage. As children, we were cringe and dumb and loved all of the oddities of Minecraft and the fandoms that went with them. By making a movie that's kind of shabby and really cringy, the creators are giving out a reminder that not everything has to be super well made to make an enjoyable movie. As long as it is intentional, all of these details make the Minecraft movie amazing, because it is exactly like us. Imperfect, flawed, cringe as hell.
Enjoy the Minecraft movie. Laugh at the jokes you would have laughed at as a ten year old. Don't think of anyone else in the theater (except for the staff, Jesus guys stop throwing popcorn on the ground) and certainly don't live off of the opinions of professional theatre critics because people can have different opinions.
#I know there are still other issues with the movie#Cough cough whitewashed Steve#But we really need to stop judging movies for flaws and just enjoy them#People came together to make this for us#So please complain a little less#The creators are human too#And no#a movie about a block game will not be movie of the year#Stop acting like this is the prophesied golden movie#Go watch shows for adults#Im frustrated#a minecraft movie#the minecraft movie#minecraft movie#minecraft

"Haha Dream BBQ is so random and incomprehensible" "did they take drugs to make this lol" "you're actually not meant to understand anything in this series it's ok" "Joel G just makes up stuff on the spot based on what would be funny" "it's just random for random's sake" "is this AI" "stop theorising, it's not that deep" SHUT UPPPPPPPPPP
#ena dream bbq#ena joel g#random art does not exist. all human made art is made with intention.#like. sure. ena is intentionally surreal and aburdist and weird. and im sure some things were less thought out#but to say its all just random bullshit does SO much disservice to the creators behind this project#and disservice to your OWN intelligence in giving up and refusing to work those braincells of yours to create your own interpretation#like. There Are Things To work with here. there are a Lot Of Things#you just have to actually Think and connect the pieces and do introspection on what this Means to YOU#like. you dont wanna think hard. fine. if you wanna just enjoy the experience thats fine too#but then you have to still ackowledge that youre getting SOMETHING out of this (unless youre actually not and are just a hater)#even if its just emotionally. even if its jus unconsciouslly#there Is Meaning There#its just not linear#so think about it!!! thats whats fun about this series!!!#it forces everyone to think about it instead of just following the one 'canon'!!!!#there probably isnt one right answer here!!!#but that doesnt make it any less valuable!!!!#just. auuuughh#i have a lot of thoughts about this#the ena team would not put in this much effort and creativity and symbolism and themeing just for shits and giggles#ok ill stop being a hater now. and I WONT go in the opposite direction and start wining about how a lot of theories (on youtube at least)#seem to ignore the more emocionally significant and symbolic themes in favour of basic or emotionally shallow takes.....#ggrhrgrh (through gritted teeth)... everyones interpretation is valid.. everyones interpretation is valid#whatevr. im just rambling. idk. i hope you get what i mean#negative#fandom critical#my own post

Just a little Reminder...
Please remember that the blogs and accounts which you follow, from the insanely mega-popular ones to the small ones that feel like your little secret treasure, are owned and managed by actual human beings, just like you.
They have lives outside of the content you see, which often dictates their time. Be that school, job, health, family, children, etc. Most, if not all, make no money from their content, and those who do seldom make enough to live on, so those other commitments have to take priority.
Therefore, most of us create content in our spare time, often as a way to detach and de-stress from the pressures of real life. We do that because we expect to get enjoyment out of it, and maybe make a few friends along the way.
However, it seems that people tend to forget that other accounts also have a real human behind them, or lack the empathy to care.
I completely understand that it can be disappointing when your ask doesn't get answered, or your request gets denied, or your message gets ignored. Every single person reading this will have experienced that, more than once. In fact, many will say that happens more often than not!
It stings when it happens, I know. You pluck up the courage to make contact, only to be knocked back. Sometimes, it feels like they're being lovely and responsive to everyone except you.
But responding by spamming them with further requests or messages, or becoming nasty with/about them, is only going to give you more trouble. If you're lucky, you'll just get ignored or blocked, perhaps after an angry message telling you to stop. If you're unlucky, you might find yourself becoming the subject of a call-out, which will result in backlash and possibly cause you to lose your own followers.
Please remember the human behind your favourite content, and don't air your dirty laundry in public.

I just had a brainblast moment, what if humanity in CITF decided it was going to be smarter than any other fictional humanity when making sentient machines and they put a ‘kill switch’ in the base coding for Cybertronian life. Like it’s both a code phrase and a string of code that can be said or uploaded that immediately causes any transformer to either go completely statue still, be forced into stasis lock, or just die.
I’m imagining that the way that the LL crew finds out is during a fight with Tarn the human liaison suddenly shouts over a megaphone
“UNIT: TARN, COMMAND: CEASEFIRE, OVERRIDE CODE: D4D2J0L1 CODEWORD: PRIMUS!”
And then suddenly Tarn just stops and goes stock still. And now the human has to awkwardly explain to the LL crew that they kill switches built into their brains.
Smart move for humans program a self-destruct protocol in the sentient robots they made just in case anything anything happen.
Terrifying information for Cybertronians (DJD) when they start to realize how much control the flesh-bags have over their anatomy and life, a small seed of fear and doubt start to grow, wondering if these fleshies know more than they let on.
youtube
Be real damn hard explaining this to the rest of the LL without them starting to freak out, you have to console them that on god you wouldn't make them explode (maybe).
Rung being the only one that isn't worried and already knew, being the first cybertronian created. Probably have long accepted it as it is.
What if liaison have a secret file where they write down every individuali LL member's code phrase for stasis lock/self-destruct protocols.
.... what if some humans fuck around and put random codes in them? /e dance?

Piggybacking off my last post, the fact that this whole convo exists is wild.

Especially because… well the reasons are pretty obvious, I think.

Like, “I like these guys but they should keep their mouths shut when their livelihoods are threatened because speaking their minds might make some people feel bad 😢”. As if content creators are just machines that dispense entertainment.
If you think blatantly hateful rhetoric is “just another point of view”, you have no business in this fan community. Just leave, you won’t be missed.
For the life of me I can’t imagine being a fan of such a diverse and inclusive group while also having absolutely no problem with bigotry and people who support it.
As a certain highly toxic ex-Piplup might say…
“That’s EMBARRASSING!!”
#party crashers#vernias#tcnick3#king of skill#sophist#no room for hatred in this community#politics isn’t just a team sport#it actually affects real people#and guess what#content creators are people too#no we can’t agree to disagree on human rights#election 2024#fuck trump

well the other thing about annabeth and her relationship with purity is the violation of your existence being made with purpose. to be unable to say what makes you up is some inexplicable combination of everything that's happened to you and your brain. to face disapproval even when everything about you has been hand-picked by thee goddess who Always Knows Best. to be the best parts of a human is still to be human and the standard is impossible!!!!!
#because frederick loves athena like a human and he tells annabeth that even when he's married with two children from that marriage!!#accursed creator and such#pjo#annabeth chase#annabeth#there's something to be said about luke and kronos too but that's a little different#🪽

Pinned Post Pointing in Several Directions
Hello there! Are you looking for the Token Human series, featuring a spacefaring veterinarian during her time working on a courier ship? I post weekly short stories with this tag, and there’s a masterpost that’s up to date as of April 7th, 2025.
Also! I post early on Patreon if you’d like to spend a few bucks a month reading sci-fi shenanigans before the general public. (There’s a free tier too, if you want the stories emailed to you every Monday with no strings attched.)
Also-also, I write novels! Like this one that takes place after the courier era, when Robin is working as a vet on an alien planet (dealing with a crisis of escaped rabbits and troublemaking space poachers). And other books about completely different main characters. Sometimes I put together anthologies with friends.
And then there’s the rest of my blog, which is full of writing-related things, sci-fi, fantasy, Fun Facts and interesting nonsense, and general Tumblr tomfoolery.
I’m having a great time, and I plan to bring everyone else with me.
EDIT: Also on BlueSky!
#pinned post#my writing#Patreon#lots of people on that free tier#I'm glad Patreon started offering that as an option#I'm following a bunch of other creators for free now too#I get cool stuff#and it's a placeholder for Someday Probably when finances change and I can justify flinging money at every passing interest#anyways: if anyone's wondering how to be notified whenever I post a new Token Human story#that's how#it's pretty great#and sometimes I share other stuff too#even with the free tier#that's enough advertising from me#onward!

i don’t actually mind iterations of AB where she’s ‘mean’ (…again, whatever the fuck that means in the 16c); but i really do reject portrayals where she’s completely devoid of warmth. unfortunately for me, one of them has remained #1 prestige ‘blueprint’ tudor drama since 2012 😭
#I actually realized this too…#that it’s the source material#you can point to (few and far between ; but they do exist) moments of warmth in wolf hall and tobg#but ONLY in the screen adaptations#the source material of the books literally don’t have any#it’s the adapter tweaking so that the audience doesn’t *totally* hate her bcus that’s not really#constructive for the purposes of the narrative / storytelling ….#for them to be 100% alienated from her as a character and personality#so they tweak it to what. 98% . lol#primarily with her moments of tenderness with Elizabeth#and I mean I’ll take what I can get insofar as I think that very tiny aspect is an integral part of her#so infinitesimal props#but they don’t allow it in any other aspect#so the implication is that motherhood ‘humanized’ her and she was otherwise#not quite human. which. I shouldn’t have to say#has fairly gross implications about how these creators see women overall…

my dad once told me that the only time humanity will truly unite is when some external threat comes to take us down, like how animals band together against danger. until it does we will turn against each other instead and divide the world at our own hands because evolution has taught us that we need something to fight, that there always needs to be danger. we are our own danger. recognise it and rebuke it. we are humanity. we are not better than any of us.
#we are the ones dividing and destroying because of the destruction created only by us#the very core of humanity is to change#and though we've changed so far one way right now we can and are changing it every day constantly#for better or for worse#we are the creators of our own downfall#but we are also the creators of our own uprise and ascendance#everything around us is built and created and nurtured by us and that is so beautiful#humans are the definition of depth and depth is the scales that are in a permanent state of imbalance which make up our world#and while you cannot keep a scale balanced forever#you can keep it steady#but we are leaning too far left or too far right to keep that balance and that is what causes our divide#we must learn to balance the scales of our depth and in turn the world's#and only then will we unite as the beautiful ethereal creatures that we are#thoughts ୨𖹭୧#us politics#humanity#human rights#politics

i'm making this post mostly to vent, but also to reflect.
being in mdzs fandom was the first time being in fandom felt like... "content," to me. like i was a creator who WAS obliged to the masses, who was seen as holding some social power because i was interested in creating works for people to enjoy, rather than enjoying them myself. even though i am both: i am someone who likes to read as much as i like to write. i like enjoying as much as i like creating things for people to enjoy. i don't believe in this dichotomy, and i sure as hell didn't come into fandom for parasocial attention.
one of the problems definitely was that i was on twitter more than i was writing, and i was thinking of ways to game the algorithm so i stayed on people's feeds, because of the way twitter began to work, because of my own anxiety, and because subconsciously i understood the landscape. i didn't like it but i knew it. and too much was going on in my life that i couldn't take a step back and realize how much it was negatively affecting me.
still, it felt weird and strange and wrong to have followers with bios that said things like "don't perceive me i'm just here to read." strangers who would reply to my posts with over-familiarity and rudeness and said they were justified because i had over 1000 followers on twitter, because that is apparently a marker of how you are "allowed" to treat another stranger online. throwing around the terms "bnf" and "popular" as if they mean something beyond being similar to how american high schools work. i saw people group me and my friends who also had a lot of followers as this exclusive class of people in the fandom because we liked making things for other people to enjoy and we had a lot of followers, and therefore they could treat and generalize us all in weird dehumanizing ways because of it. i saw people complain that if any of us said anything "problematic" or "wrong" then it was a moral failing on the rest of us if we didn't publicly call it out.
and like. fandom is not a content creation space. at least, not to me. while i do like attention and making a big number even bigger—like i'm not gonna lie, it does give me dopamine!—i didn't come here to generate a parasocial audience. i came here to make cool stuff and also make friends. and now with people who follow me because they like the things i make and less so me, something i now struggle with that i didn't used to in fandom is: do i follow people back? do these people see me as someone they want to admire and have a parasocial relationship with, or do they want to be friends? this post is a little bit of a PSA as well, i suppose: while i don't believe that everyone in fandom/who now follows me has this content creation mindset, i know there are people who do, and i don't know how to interact with strangers anymore. if you don't want me to interact with you and just want to admire me from afar, i want to respect that boundary. at the same time, i do like making friends. and i want to make friends with people who are just purely curious about me, not because i'm put on this parasocial pedestal.
i also don't think this is a problem with mdzs fandom specifically, or even necessarily just for fandom itself. i think a lot of spaces online have turned into this: where not only your social power but also your personhood, your identity starts and ends with how big the number next to your name is, and is an indicator to a stranger how humanizing you can treat them. make your private assumptions or judgments about me; i have no control over them so i don't care. but i am still a human behind the screen as much as you. i struggle with my day to day stuff as much as anyone else. and i want to make friends over that. i want to commiserate and bond with people; and while i won't pretend that i don't think there is a little more "influence" if the number next to your name is a bit bigger, i don't think it should detract from the reality that if someone has 30 followers or 3000, they are still human.
unless they're a bot.
but i'm also mostly making this post because let's face it: most of the friends i've made in any fandom, historically, have been either because i was a fan of their work, or they were a fan of mine. and that's what fandom is all about—an exchange, a conversation. why are we reinventing rigid hierarchies based on follower count? why should someone who likes my fics or someone whose fics i like be treated any differently, because of the role we play in this exchange? (and why should whose fanfic you enjoy say something about you as a person... but that's a different conversation lol) there are actual content creators i like, content creators who profit monetarily based purely on that, and the monetary profit is their primary motivator in having that label, that career in the first place. but that is not fandom, to me. fandom is not a job and i am not here to profit (all of my works and thoughts are free!), and in no way has money ever played a role in my existence in fandom. it is what it's always been: to make cool things and to meet cool people. and if nothing else, it's a bit disappointing to realize that not everyone feels the same.
anyway! tl;dr if you're interested in talking to me and being friends feel free to always reach out. i also know that my own response times can be spotty (another flaw of mine, alas) but i'm mostly making this post to say that i am not someone who thinks of myself as separate from my audience, and that my numbers/output mean very little to how willing i am to engage. i can get overwhelmed as much as anyone else, but in my heart if you're interested in a dialogue with me, then i am too. because that's what being in fandom is all about.
#there's also something about having all my neuroses and flaws on display due to having large number which can make me feel a little anxious#but eh. you reap what you sow#can't do anything about it anymore so now i'm like#me with all my mistakes and flaws and humanity and all: heyyyyyy#I also wont lie that i was a little parasocial with my audience because i was being treated parasocially myself#but I think that's just a symptom of that dynamic#also i guess i want to add that i don't think any of this is new either I know people were doing similar shit on LJ too#but i think the platform made it harder for you to see it if you weren't looking for it#and now with Twitter and stuff people will just treat you like this to your face lol#I also don't think it's as easy as i write about it here too LOL in that like#sometimes you don't want to be friends with someone because you don't like their vibes. and i get that too#it's mostly just feeling the gap between creator and audience widen in a space where we all have the power in some way to be both#that's what this post really boils down to#I also know that i had a lot more ~problems in mdzs fandom that maybe have contributed to this LMAO#but ehhh at the end of the day this post is more often true than it's not
