What really kills me about Skeleton Crew being so good is that, at this point, I'm not sure it matters. The ratings have been terrible for the show, despite that I don't think I've ever really seen anyone say anything against it, which I think means that people are just absolutely burnt out on these live action shows and I can't really blame them. I've enjoyed things about all of them, I've enthusiastically loved several of them, but even I'm tired of stories that feel like they're half a story. To the point that, even when one of the shows defies that, it doesn't matter anymore. Skeleton Crew is the first show in a long time that feels like you can actually watch it without feeling like they're holding back something for another season or even another show all together. (Maybe Andor and Obi-Wan Kenobi escape this to some degree, but not as well as Skeleton Crew.) I think the idea is that they want that MCU kind of tie-in connectivity, they want a big shared universe that gets everyone hyped up to go watch everything--the problem is that D+ Star Wars just is not good enough or fun enough consistently to pull that off. So little of it is new, it's just filling in the gaps and telling half a story. Even The Mandalorian, which started out so much fun and a breath of fresh air, fell hard into this--it tells half of the story of the fall of Mandalore, it throws in characters that their primary story is in another series all together, it undercuts its own characters' arcs by having major moments take place in spin-off series. Very little feels whole anymore. And you can get away with that when you have a strong series of movies to build a foundation on, like with the originals and the prequels, but Disney has so thoroughly fucked up with the structure and direction of the sequels that what should be fertile ground for covering stories is leaning back harder on the originals and the prequels rather than the sequels. And then the shows themselves aren't building anything new and almost nothing ever finishes. Nothing is a satisfying arc or conclusion because The Story Can't Be Over Yet. (This is why I think OWK and Andor work best, they're leading up to an ending we already know. There is already a built-in end point. Rebels as well had an end point!) I think that's what Disney has really fucked up--almost nothing ever ends because they don't know what's going to be a hit, so they want the option to bring everything back and never let go of anything. They can't give The Mandalorian an actual story arc because they don't know where this story is going. They can't give Ahsoka a complete story because Felony can't let go of her. So even when Skeleton Crew comes along, tells a story that's satisfying in and of itself, has a satisfying conclusion and arc, it doesn't matter because so many people are exhausted and just don't care anymore. And I'm not sure Disney even realizes that's a major problem, because they're too focused on wanting to never let go of anything.

Another day another LU analysis with me!
Dawn 9 is here and with it the end of the next arc of the LU comic is done!
This update did a lot and is also a full 10 pages long! So there's a bunch to unpack!
As always linked universe belongs to @linkeduniverse and Jojo, I own none of the pictures I'm using and please give the original post some love. It's very well done and I love this comic so much.
You can find the comic here!
Oh, and obviously spoilers for the most recent LU update if you've not looked at it!
Now, checklist. Popcorn, water and time to read half an hour worth of rambling.
Without further ado!
The letters!
So, Twilight, four and Time all appeared to get letters, with Time getting multiple (More on that later)
Twilights reaction to the super sale was my reaction while playing TP (I recently finished it for the first time! :D) when they opend the store in castle town. Every time i couldnt get there to get potions i was low key gutted.
And Four. Four's grandpa is a mood and i hope we get to meet him.
HE
blorbo blorbo blorbo
The master of standing 🧍
Beloved blorbo i love him
Okay im done
(Im not done)
Poor Sky He's so sad about it D:
But... I, as a part of the The team is heading to Skyloft next, team. Believe that Sun has done this on purpose. (Or that the Skyloftians dont have the mail system for him to retrieve anything) but i like to think its the first one.
Hmmm.... Time got multiple letters. (That takes care of the letter discrepancy)
Twi asking about the ranch, Time looking to one of the letters. This tells me one of two things.
The letter he's looking to could be from Malon, and he's genuenly not concerned.
or The letter he's looking at isnt from malon. Infact, by the way he's looking at it i think its from his Zelda. Possibly a report about black bloods in his time period. (As last time we see them in Time's era. They dont actually fight anything)
Twilight being cheeky and Time's dad face are giving me life.
But... as we know, Time is Twilights direct decendant only by a few generations at most. With the infomation we have from Twilight princess with Shade. And from jojo with Time and Twilight. I'm seeing this conversation as more of a father and son conversation over brothers.
And the rest of this conversation follows this same pattern. Twilight is very much being scolded. He's biting back with what he see's as Time's own words. (not that time know's as such)
Twilight looks genuenly shocked to hear this.
From the hero's shade (Time) in twilight princess.
"You may be destined to become the hero of legend...but your current power would disgrace the proud green of the hero's tunic you wear. "
I am screaming
And now im screaming more. Twilight nooooooooooooo
The we care about Twilight's well being gang. Spoiling us with the full body shots againnnnnnn.
Give me more of these three i love them all together.
And I'm convinced that theres going to be something bad happens to time directly after the end of the LU timeline.
Time is missing an eye. So we know that Shade and Time are closer together than the hero of time (In game). SO.... If time dosent Die on the adventure with the chain. I'm almost convinced he does almost right after he returns back to his time.
The armour is almost identical. He has most of the scaring which lines up....
If the helmet turns up, then i think Time dies during this adventure. It's the only thing i can see as missing.
Twilight.... Now i think Twilight thinks that the gods are giving him an opportunity to save the hero of time from dying to become the heros shade. but thats the funky thing about timetravel.
(Depending on how Jojo and LU time travels works.)
I believe that the timetravel in LU solidifies the adventures of the other links. And that nothign that occours in this adventure impacts their adventures. Even if something was changed it wouldnt change the past.
IE - Twilight breaking his shadow crystal wouldnt mean that wild didnt remember having the wolf on his adventure - as its already happened.
(I hope that makes sense. - time travel is confusing i see it as an alternative timeline type thing)
Moving on!
Wild is best brother 101
Also twilight getting flustered about a girl oh bless this man i low key love him okay
Her!
Also
Smiley man
Epona is a wonderful girl and i love her so much okay
Also Warriors!
HE LOOKS SO HAPPY AGAIN
Man got his emotional support scarf and is no longer stressed (Atleast not visably)
HE!
BELOVED AGAIN HE IS SO HAPPY I AM NORMAL ABOUT THIS MAN
okay
Please understand how much i am cackling at the shenanigans of these three.
Wind rolling around because it is clearly faster mode of travel
Go zoomies wind go zoomies!
Wind rolled down the stairs you cant convince me otherwise. Look at his little superhero pose as hes moving around the corner.
Older brother alert, dont ruin the kids fun warriors they are just getting excited about being on the road again.
Also Warriors, This is normal link behaviour. Just ask Time. He would eailsy tell you that he rolled around hyrule field.
I LOVE HIS LITTLE FACE OKAY
MY BELOVED BLORBO 🧍
(if i run out of pictures i swear to hylia)
There's so much brotherly energy in these panels i love them all so much okay.
Also Sky offering to Pay Time back for the Inn Fee this is why i love the wonderful blorbo okay
Guys im sorry, he's their dad. You cant change my mind.
Thats a dad walk, with a dad sentence.
'Okay guys i need to make sure you are not gonna get killed please have swords.'
The blacksmithing gang getting the love they deserve.
Sky leading the charge! (I know its cause he knows the way and stuff But...)
It also makes a lot of sense. If Sky is the slowest of the group(Again not confirmed but we have had jokes about his stamina), it makes sense to put him at the front to maintain pace of the group. Stops people going too fast and prevents people from being left behind.
Which i might add has already happened. (Warriors and Hyrule im looking at you.)
We just need to read the boss partterns for a bit so we can then decide how to fight it. You know, like we did when we were in our adventures and had to figure out boss mechanics.
Important that hyrule is saying this as his game is arguably one of the hardest. He probably spent a long time on each boss learning attack patterns.
Oh this arc was fun! So much fun i love it so much okay
Thank you so much again for hanging out with me while i write these. I love making them and i really appreciate all the support on them. (If you could share it around i'd really appreciate it :) )
Have a wonderful day! :D

UNEXPECTED TURN - CHOSO KAMO [chapter 1]

SUMMARIZE.. y/n never bothered getting to know choso after the shibuya incident happened and he became an ally to jujutsu high but what happens when he decides to try and get to know her on a personal level and they start getting put on mission together
TAGS.. choso x fem!reader, shibuya incident arc spoilers!!, post shibuya incident au, character dearth mentioned, slow burn, smut, angst, reader is a sorcerer, oral sex, masturbation + more
A/N.. hi this is my first fanfic ever also I posted it on A03 under the same username. keep in mind I’m a beginner at writing lol. like & rebolgs are appreciated | DONT NOT REUPLOAD :D
………………………………………………………………………………….
you and choso where out having lunch discussing your plans for an upcoming mission later that day. It’s been half a year since the shibuya incident, even after the many deaths that took place that night you ended up finding yourself making a new connection later down the line
choso become an ally for jujutsu high short after the incident, first it started off with you two getting place together to go on small missions together outside of Tokyo. When you first heard of the idea of you and choso being partner up you weren’t a big fan of it, everyone seem to connect well off of first interaction and start to enjoy choso company especially after finding out that he is yuji half brother but you? barely even talk/avoided him outside of missions.
“what are you thinking about”? choso asked as he saw your blank expression as you two were waiting on the food to come out “Huh? oh.. just that how much I hate working with you that’s all” you softly smirk at him. you love teasing choso so often that become y’all daily thing to do to each other. One day after you and choso got back from a mission you were about to head out of jujutsu high until you heard fast steps catching up to you.
“hey.. um y/n you have a moment?” choso asked awkward while scratching the back of his head. you then turn around and sign “yeah what is it?” choso honestly wasn’t sure how he should approach you, when y’all get sent on mission its just strictly about the mission no personal stuff about each other lives, nothing.
he kinda took the hint that you didn’t want to conversation about anything outside of that 3 weeks after the incident when you both were on the train headed to koyto and he asked how long you been a sorcery at jujutsu high and you responded with “why do you care just let’s just do our jobs, the faster the better”
every since then choso didn’t dare to bring up anything after that until the day he generally was curious and had enough of this ‘only talk during and about the mission thing’ he wasn’t a pushy person but he can bet there has to be more to you than this nonchalant mask you are pulling because of the story’s yuji told him when he himself first started out and you and gojo teach him. he had to know why you were so casual with everyone but not him
“Sorry to bother you y/n, don’t take this the wrong way but did I genuinely do something to offend you? every since I came to jujutsu high and going on mission I feel like you been bothered by my presence of that makes any sense” your response could go south either way choso though he didn’t know if you would just curse him out or just turn around and keep ignoring him like you been. “Are you that much of new puppy that you need everyone attention and become friends?”
“hey wait a min don’t go yet” as you turned your head a little bit choso could see your eyes get glossy. “Let me go pls” you barley spoke. A single tear fell down your face. “I’m sorry if it’s becaus-“ choso was about to finish his sentence until gojo loudly interrupted them.
“Heyy choso how have you been? Oh y/n you there too? did you file the last mission yet I haven’t seen it yet if you did” gojo said when he got a glimpse of your hair behind choso back as he was walking up to y’all. as soon as you heard gojo voice you quickly pull your wrist back from choso and he let go.
you then quickly rush off campus and into your car. “Hey come back” choso shouted. You thought how embarrassing that was,now you wouldn’t even dare show your face in front of choso now after he seen you in that state. “I guess she really doesn’t like doing reports after all” gojo said confused.
part 2 coming soon… don’t forget to like & reblog :)

I expect Billy is going to be an antagonist for a while and that's OK
Anti's for either Agatha or Billy are probably going to get more intense as I predict our boy Billy's gonna be antagonistic for a bit. And let's be clear, I'm not hating, or saying either are evil, or in the wrong.
That's way too simple a take for this show. In the words of showrunner Jac Schaeffer:
...we populated the show with similarly flawed individuals who are also selfish and self-serving, who are self-sabotaging, who are constantly standing in their own way. And then they were just in conflict. Everybody is kind of an anti-hero in the show. That was really fun and felt very truthful there.
No one here is meant to be a pure "good guy", which is I think kind of Billy's arc -- but more on that later.
And when I mean antagonist I'm talking about the characters roles in the story. An antagonist isn't necessarily a villain. Agatha is the show's protagonist as well as its main antagonist: as much as she claims she wants only power, deep down she wants a coven, a community, a family. But she is as Schaeffer puts it, "in the way of her own thing."
Billy being an antagonist simply means that his goals – or some of them at least – conflict with Agatha's. Rio has been described as a "romantic antagonist" as well because some of her goals are also in conflict.
Long text speculation post and mild promo spoilers under the cut:
Let's first get this out of the way: Why do I think Billy's going to take on an antagonist role? Aside from well, all the things that happened at the end of Episode 5, there's some clues Billy's not all who he's been saying he is:
There's a promotional video with audio lines, and you can hear Billy saying things like "Agatha Harkness can never be anything but a covenless witch" and "I do not trust you".
Billy claiming to be "obsessed" about Agatha and her biggest fan and going on the road for power should know that she is the world's most notorious witch-killer – why is he appalled about her killing and so against it? And if episode 5 is any indication, power is not what he's lacking.
Joe and Schaeffer have mentioned that Billy will be different in the back half of episodes.
A quick clip from a trailer has Agatha (covered in mud) telling Billy "Last one there is a nice person", implying that Billy at this point doesn't want to be nice. I assume, at this point, he wants Agatha to pay for her misdeeds. The yellow tint of the clip also matches with the current Road area they're on.
Now at this point I do not know if Billy was involved in what I believe is a fake trial in episode 5. I'm inclined to think it's the Salem Seven, and we get this truth of Billy as fallout. I believe he definitely didn't want Alice dead.
Now for reasons why I think it'll be okay–even interesting–to have these two in conflict and everyone should put away their pitchfolks:
They are going to come to an understanding
You know how in Hawkeye series Yelena wants to kill Barton because she blames him for Natasha's death? I think we'll get a broadly similar arc or vibe for Agatha and Billy here. And they will design it in a similarly emotionally satisfying manner.
Right now Billy's basically like everyone–including the rest of the coven–who believes that Agatha is truly what her reputation says. And that's not surprising! Agatha is masks and layers and theatrics and she's not opening up unless she absolutely has to.
It may take a few episodes but I expect we'll get that before the series end, with this sobering exchange we have from a trailer:
Why do you let them believe those things about you? Because the truth is too awful.
I don't think Billy will be the Big Bad simply because I expect at the end Agatha's going to have to choose between wanting her coven, her community of witches, and something else—power perhaps, or her son, and go back to her old ways.
And for that to happen Agatha will need to have formed enough bonds with her coven, including Billy, to make it a difficult choice.
Power, darkness, and anti-heroes
Look, Agatha is my babe and she definitely needs a win after all that awful that happened in episode 5, but if you think about it Billy being a lot like his mom is really interesting? More interesting than him just being a cute innocent fanboy.
Because if he is an anti-hero, with some darkness in him, it's an opportunity to explore some of the themes or ideas we touched on in Wandavision with Wanda and her power, and her sense of self.
Heroes don't torture people.
Agatha recognises the darkness in people, delights in it even: as touched on in interviews, it's one of the reasons why she saw herself as Detective Agnes in that spell, as an investigator exploring the darkest aspects of humanity. She's seen the worst in people, and knows how to play the villain.
For Billy to avoid making the same mistakes as his mom, he needs to understand not just his power, but his potential for darkness.
Power corrupts, and when you're born with that reality-warping level of power, it's dangerous. It's so tempting to make people do what you need them to. And it's a slippery slope once you start killing, even if it's for good reasons.
Agatha never wanted to kill her first coven, in that moment she only wanted to live. But she did, with a power she never asked for, that made it so easy to keep taking and taking.
It is kind of tragic given the circumstances that Agatha couldn't have been a mentor to Wanda at the end of Wandavision, given the events of Multiverse of Madness, because she made some valid points and they could have been a coven, given Agatha's deep-deep-buried desire for one.
And looking at all the mentor-kid pairings we've seen in the MCU so far (Parker and Stark, Clint and Bishop, Strange and Chavez, etc.), I don't think we've ever had this kind of dynamic.
Interesting power dynamics
I think Agatha is at her most interesting when she's on the back foot. As we've seen in episode one, she's not one to give up when physically outmatched, quite the opposite. She's a survivor, she's stubborn, and she's a performer.
Billy has been revealed to have the magical equivalent of a gun, and is capable of taking this entire coven hostage.
They're going to have to interact in new ways now. But now it's going to be more of a dance.
It's new danger, new complications, but also new ways to connect, and also the opportunity for a more honest relationship.
Knowledge, history, community
This point isn't specific only to Agatha and Billy but I'm reminded of Billy taking it out not just on Agatha but Lilia and Jen as well.
It's not surprising that Alice and Billy, the two youngest coven members are also the most idealistic and noble. The world has not been kind to witches over the centuries—Lilia's been chased out of villages for her visions, Jen has been attacked—and the older members of the group have done what they can to survive: How much can you blame them for being selfish in a cruel world?
Power isn't your problem, it's knowledge.
In this case I mean not just the knowledge of witchcraft, but lived experience as well.
Younger witches have to learn their community's history, and the older ones have to be challenged in their set ways of thinking, in how they've adapted, because they're not always good.
I wouldn't be surprised if there was an allegory to be made here to the queer community as well. Schaeffer has mentioned there is a large overlap between the history and persecution of witches and that of the LGBTQ community.

Chapters Since The 143 Kiss Happened And Went Entirely Unacknowledged And Unaddressed Count: 13
Aqua Hoshigan Status: N/A
I'm gonna be real with you gamers I don't have a lot to say about this one LOL. Typically these Mem chapters come at the top or bottom of volumes as transitions between phases of the story so getting one slap bang in the middle of what will be volume 16 is a little jarring, as are the contents of it. Despite making up 1/3rd of the current B-Komachi, Mem is pretty underutilized across the whole manga so while it's nice to see her be given a proper arc capstone chapter all to herself, it feels underbaked. I almost suspect that the beats of this chapter may have been intended to serve as the bones of a Mem mini-arc at some point but with only so much time to spare before the manga ends it was crammed into this one chapter. Without any room to breathe, none of its beats hit.
Mem and Frill being friendly enough for solo hangouts is cute, though! One of the things I did like about the Movie Arc was the way it mushed the wider supporting cast together into a more closely knit social circle and I like seeing that reflected in moments like this. It helps add to the sense of them being people living their own lives who have things to do outside of dealing with Hoshino Family Drama.
The story swinging back to deal the elephant in the room that is Mem's real age is also potentially juicy but - say it with me, folks! - lacks the build up it needs to really be worth taking seriously. Prior to this, Mem's age has mostly been played for laughs when it has come up with no real indication that it's something the manga wants us to take seriously. In that way, the slightly blase framing of it here does better suit as a resolution than suddenly taking it deadly serious was but it does just end up feeling like something Akasaka added to the manga not because he felt it was an important part of the story but because it was next on his checklist of things to tie off before the manga ends.
This can really be felt in the way this chapter really fails to dig into why Mem even had to lie in the first place - there's the off-handed acknowledgement of Mem wanting to be an idol and her age potentially being a barrier in that regard but it doesn't actually dig into this premise of Mem's age being a problem. In a series whose proclivity for infodumping about the ills of the entertainment industry is practically a fandom joke at this point, it feels uncharacteristically restrained for it to not take this opportunity to talk about how this attitude is born from fetishizing, commodifying attitudes about youth and supposed 'purity' and the ageism and misogyny many adult women in the entertainment industry all over the globe have to deal with.
In general, OnK has been pretty toothless the last few arcs when it comes to the cast having to actually navigate the industry's toxicity. The way Ruby's struggles with idolhood are held up as comparable to Ai's is one major symptom of this that I'll probably go into at some other point, but we also see this in characters like Kaburagi and Shima-D too - despite being objectively pretty scummy individuals in terms of both their behaviour within the industry and their interpersonal relationships, the note the manga seems to have ended on for both of them is a sort of 'aw shucks he didn't mean none of it' wishy-washiness where it's unwilling to hold them accountable.
This toothlessness adds to making everyone's immediately acceptance of Mem's lie ring so deeply hollow. No scandal, no negativity, no nothing. An utterly frictionless resolution that feels as though it added nothing to the plot point it was tying off. Again, it would feel weird for this to become a big dramatic beat when the story has so consistently treated it like a joke but this half-baked conclusion leaves me feeling lukewarm at best.
To not end this on a sour note, I will say I really like the note this ends on of Mem deciding to shoot for university and I like Ruby finally giving Mem even a shred of props for the backbreaking amount of work she put into B-Komachi's growth. Appreciate Mem more, you little gremlin!!!
Speaking of Mem's JD dreams though, I've heard some speculation so far that Mem shooting for university is an indication that she's also going to be leaving B-Komachi but… eh, I disagree. Mem talks about how much the group means to her and her revealing the lie here feels like a step to try and protect her place in B-Komachi and ensure she can keep performing with them.
Break next week to no one's surprise… did y'all know the volume 15 release in Japan says volume 16 isn't dropping until December? Wild.

I'd lay you badly, but I'd lay you gladly // naoya x reader; chapter iii

Babysitting duty.
x Masterlist x
< previous chapter | next chapter >
Rating: M Word Count: 4k Warnings: Naoya-typical misogyny, Yuuji's Execution/Perfect Preparation Arc Spoilers, blood tw, slight emetophobia tw, somewhat dislikeable MC Additional Notes: Naoya should probably be beaten with hammers.
I scowl. “What the fuck are you doing here?”
He tsks at me, as if I were a disobedient dog who’s mouthing at the leg of his trousers, and I narrow my eyes, hackles raising. “C’mon… is that any way for a woman to be talkin’?”
“It is if I outrank you,” I reply shortly, willing him to simply go away.
He barks in laughter-- all white teeth and sharp edges, surprisingly unrefined for someone from such a stuffy clan.
Everything about him looked the part of the clan rebel-- dyed hair, kohl-lined eyes with sharp wings, silver studs lining the shell of his ear. It was almost jarring compared to the casual prejudice and cruelty that spewed from his mouth on the regular. “Do you? You’re a grunt for the higher-ups. I’m the rightful heir to the Zen’in”
“Face it, Naoya,” I say, crossing my legs. “You’re not going to become the clan head.”
That gets him. Something sharp flashes through his eyes, there and gone, like a flash of lightning before the storm. But instead of lunging at me, as he did at the will reading, he leans back with all the lazy arrogance of a boy who’s been told his whole life that he’s special. That he’s owed this-- praise, power, adulation.
He stretches his arms behind his head with a lazy smile. One foot kicks up to rest on the seat beside me-- his shoe polished leather with neat stitching, too expensive for me to afford, and I almost long to ruin the craftsmanship by dumping my tea over it. I don’t move, refusing to look over at him, even as I start feeling for a brief moment like the prey in this situation.
“Shibuya’s a crucible of curses right now,” he notes casually.
Too casually, as if he’s savouring the way the words sit in his mouth.
“Accidents happen.”
The Shibuya Incident was something that all clans were called to offer at least three combatants for. Naobito had gone, and came back missing an arm and burnt to a crisp. Gojo had gone, and disappeared into a seal. Sukuna’s vessel had gone, and wreaked destruction upon the city. Chaos has descended upon the city.
So the front-end of his statement was at least, an objectively correct observation.
What I take issue with, though, is the latter half.
“You really think you’re going to get away with murdering your future clan head?” I ask him, before I can stop myself.
I don’t know the Fushiguro kid-- let alone care for him. But honestly anyone would be preferable to how utterly loathsome Naoya is. Ruled by his pride, ruled by his ego, bullheaded, the amalgamation of everything wrong with his clan.
He tilts his head at me, blinks his golden eyes, as if trying to feign innocence. “Why not? I’ll be the clan head soon enough.” He flashes his teeth at me. “And I’ll iron out the details after that. I’ll get Sukuna’s vessel, first, since they’re such good friends, jus’ for good measure. Put me in the higher-ups’ good books.”
He’s enjoying this. Like a cat playing with its food.
“And then, you’ll realize just how much hell I can rain down on your life, you vicious little bitch.”
I consider him, tapping my fingers against my knee. Keeping my face placid, unshaken by the seriousness of his demeanour. The eager way he’s describing his plans-- or lack thereof. Just a jump from point A, to point D, with no clear steps in-between. Murder. Then profit.
Childish. No finesse. Artless. Like he’s simply going to will things into place, by hook or by crook.
If he weren’t so horrible, I’d admire the persistence, but alas.
“You’re disgusting.” And stupid, I think to myself, even as I begin mentally calculating the time it would take to get to Jujutsu High from the station. Compare it up to the time it would take for Naoya to get to Shibuya. Find my own allotment of time severely lacking. But I need to let him continue with his bluster. Keep him talking. Keep him so full of his own ego that he missteps.
Naoya pouts, disconcerting for a man of his age. “And here I was, thinkin’ you liked me. Want me to kiss it better?”
“Never,” I reply, standing. It has become abundantly clear to me, at least, that my main goal now is to get to Fushiguro before Naoya does. Before some unfortunate “accident” can be visited upon him. Because the higher-ups might throw some fuss about it, but they’re also stretched so thin right now that they wouldn’t really even care. They’d just default back to the old will.
The will in which Naoya is made the clan head.
And then, I know, he will dedicate the extent of his powers to unravelling my tiny, insignificant little life.
The train begins to slow.
Tokyo looms, unnaturally grey against the evening light.
As soon as the Shinkansen pulls into Shinagawa station, I’m pacing out the doors, as briskly as I possibly can-- not enough to indicate panic to Naoya-- because I wasn’t-- I was just trying to ensure that I kept my job, and Naoya stayed off the clan seat.
But time wasn’t on my side.
I was attempting to make a beeline for Jujutsu High, trying to glean Megumi’s location-- out in the outskirts, near Hachioji. Naoya had far less ground to cover on his journey to Shibuya-- where stragglers were likely still picking up the pieces. He could afford to wait for his prey to show.
I couldn’t waste a single second.
Even despite the calamity that has descended upon the city, there’s still a few cabs out by the taxi stands-- and my lips almost twitch in gratitude. Ah, capitalism. The world could end, and yet, there’ll still be people who have to clock in the next day for their livelihood. The cab driver casts me a dubious look through the mirror-- and I’m aware of the fact that people were more likely to be leaving Tokyo in these days.
The roads are nigh-abandoned, eerie and irregular for the city, but I’m grateful, given that I didn’t need the post-work traffic jam to add another hurdle to the delay.
Half an hour, and we’re pulling into the access lot on Mount Mushiro that leads up into the school. I thank him, shove a wad of cash at him, and then take my briefcase, breaking into a full sprint towards the torii gates that lay just beyond the copse of trees.
I wish I could say the campus was nostalgic for me, but given the circumstances, I’m just taking the steps up two at a time. I recognize a woman-- one of my kouhai from back in the school days-- I think she was the one who had been persistently trying to gun for Special Grade classification after the Night Parade, but the higher-ups kept deferring it.
“I’m looking for Fushiguro Megumi,” I tell her.
She blinks at me with wearied eyes, and I am suddenly apprehensive that she might tell me to go fuck myself for working for the higher-ups.
No one at the Tokyo campus seemed to like them, even more so given Gojo’s hand in shaping the school culture here.
“Uhm-- he should be around somewhere--” she mutters. “Hospital ward, maybe? He was saying something about going off to find Itadori down in the city in a bit.”
I nod, forcing my lips up into a stiff smile and a murmur of gratitude before I’m off.
The ward had been expanded significantly from its original capacity-- and I’m aware of the fact that some of the classrooms down in this ward have also been converted into private rooms for the more seriously injured sorcerers.
As I’m pacing down the hallway, a door ahead opens, then closes, as a boy steps through to rejoin a companion waiting outside. “It’s not looking good,” he tells her..
She grunts in reply.
I peer at her face, at the single golden eye she has left. Even behind the bandages and the burns, she’s recogniseable. Of course she is. I’ve spent the last few days watching her father.
Zen’in Maki.
And that must mean the boy beside her-- with the same sharp eyes I’d seen in a myriad of faces, is--
“Fushiguro Megumi.”
The two of them look up at my approach, tensing-- and I can’t say I blame them. I look too polished for a warzone. I look too careful for a Tokyo sorcerer. I look like everything they can’t trust.
“Who’s asking?” the boy asks, guarded.
“Let’s bring this conversation somewhere private,” I say instead.
We find an empty classroom.
Ideally, it would have been Fushiguro only, but if Maki insisted, so be it-- given that this was a clan matter, and she was still a Zen’in, by name if not by standing.
“Zen’in Naobito is dead,” I begin.
No surprise on either of their faces-- and I think back to the reports of the incident. Maki must have been fighting with Naobito at the time he fell in battle, given the consistencies in their wounds.
“And as part of an emergency provision that’s been activated with the sealing of Gojo Satoru, you, Fushiguro Megumi, are now head of the Zen’in Clan, and inheritor of all its assets.”
Silence settles over the two for a moment.
“ME? Head of the Zen’in Clan?!” Fushiguro half-yells.
“Are you sure?” Maki asks, nearly simultaneously.
I set my briefcase down on the desk, and nod. “It was Zen’in Naobito’s final request,” I tell him, producing another copy of the will and the addendum to hand over.
He shakes his head, pushing the papers away. “I have to refuse. It’s-- too much.”
“It’s not something you can decline,” I tell him coolly. It’s gone beyond practicality and obedience to the will at this point, and I hate to admit that.
I just don’t want to see Naoya win.
“Please accept it, Megumi,” says Maki, reaching over Megumi’s shoulders to snatch the documents from my hand.
I sit back, lean against the desk, watching the cousins, their back and forth.
Maki is flipping through the pages, skimming the terms, summarizing them with rapid-fire precision to such a degree that I’m almost wondering if I could take her back to headquarters as a protegee for my line of work. Teach her how to work binding vows-- given that she’s been stuck at Grade Four since she came to the school.
“It says here that everything’s going to you. Money. Cursed tools. Property. As the clan head, you’ll also get access to confidential intelligence from the other Great Clans and a direct pull on the headquarters. It’ll change the game for us right now.”
“Then why don’t you do it, Maki-san?” he asks.
Maki sputters-- “Like this?? No one would agree to it.”
Wounded, weak, woman-- three black marks against her in the scope of the Zen’in ranking.
She continues, growing more indignant by the second. “You inherited the innate technique! Mastered the Domain Expansion! Gojo Satoru was your guardian and sensei! It’s your right, Megumi!”
He’s too young. That much is obvious, prodigy with the inherited technique or not. I choose not to mention the council of regents that the higher-ups will inevitably push him to accept.
He sighs. “Does the agreement of the Zen’in clan really matter in this case? And the benefits, you’ll inherit them too if you’re the clan head, right?”
Maki looks up at him. Pulls her sweatshirt tighter around herself, covering the tiger-striped pattern of her burn scars. “I’m… I’m still not good enough,” she whispers. “I wouldn’t be able to make the space for Mai to live her life yet. Not like this.”
Megumi swallows. Turns back to me. “I understand.”
I’m not sure if he’s saying it to me or to Maki.
“I’ll do it.” His fists are clenched at his sides.
I nod. Flip open the file folder to the official document, hand him a pen.
Pray that I’m making the right choice to install a boy-heir with the power to rival Gojo Satoru and no value for his own person.
“I’m in the process of getting the guarantors of your uncle’s will to affirm their consent,” I tell him as he squints at the lines upon lines of legal jargon that says much, means little. “It’s not going to be a smooth transition, but I aim to make it as painless as possible.”
He nods again. “I see.”
I flex my fingers, feel the cursed technique flowing through my body. “By signing this contract, you agree to take on the title and duties of the twenty-seventh head of the Zen’in clan,” I tell him. “My presence is the binding vow. Once you’ve signed, there’s no way of undoing this.”
I think back to the rest of the clan-- Maki’s father and his calculation, their purposeful snubs, forcing me to eat with the servants. Naoya’s plots, childish as they were lethal.
“This is half the battle,” I tell him. “Your family isn’t too thrilled about this. Please expect resistance when the two of you return with me to Kyoto. Zen’in Naoya is already en route to Shibuya, if he hasn’t arrived there already.”
He stiffens. The pen freezes on the paper. “What’s he planning?”
Seeing the wheels turning behind his eyes, I reply, “Nothing you haven’t already guessed.”
“Then Itadori will be in trouble,” he says, standing.
I think back to Article III of the edicts issued post-Shibuya, and shake my head.
The suspension of Itadori Yuuji’s execution is hereby revoked, and the execution is to be carried out immediately.
“Leave him be,” I say sharply. “You need to get to Kyoto before Naoya gets tired of waiting for you. He’s there in Shibuya right now, and Sukuna’s vessel is the bait. Itadori might be your friend, but he’s got a bounty on his head. You can’t change that.”
Megumi’s face flushes red, slamming the pen down, and I’m suddenly reminded of the way Naoya looks when I degrade him-- it’s so disconcerting to see the same face, the same expression, on such different people. “I’m not leaving him.”
“Well, you’re going to have to,” I reply back. “He’s been marked for execution. I’m here to uphold the will of the higher-ups, and enforce your uncle’s last will. This is beyond my paygrade.”
Maki moves to stand beside him. “Then we’re not going back to the clan,” she says. Her voice doesn’t waver. “Not if that’s the price.”
I inhale sharply, trying not to let it turn into frustration, or desperation. “You’d throw away everything? The money, the cursed tools, the protection, the status--”
“For someone who claims to wield the Word,” Megumi interrupts, eyes narrowed, and I can feel the room grow darker, colder-- as if we’re being plunged into the shadows, “you’re surprisingly careless with yours.”
I go still. Feel the shadows lapping at my ankles.
He points a finger at me, face as stony as the carved guardian beasts in front of the school gates. “If you want me to sign your contract and come with you, you’re going to help me save Itadori.”
“I can’t protect a ticking time bomb,” I protest. “I can’t go against the will of the higher-ups.”
“I don’t care,” he snaps. “You said your cursed technique creates binding vows, right?”
I say nothing. He already knows.
“Then you’ll swear one. Right here. Maki can be the witness.”
His eyes bear into me-- nearly as piercing as Gojo’s Six Eyes had been.
“Swear you’ll help me get to Shibuya. Swear you’ll intervene in any attempt to harm Itadori and get him to safety-- or I'll walk away right now. I'll refuse to sign, and stay here in Tokyo, and your whole scheme falls apart.”
I stare at him, furious, feeling my hands clench into the pressed fabric of my slacks. Furious that this boy could so effortlessly turn my own plots against me. Furious that he’s right. And more than anything, furious that I’m even considering it.
But I know what failure means. I know who will take the seat if Megumi refuses. I know what the higher-ups will do to me.
“Fine,” I say, and the acquiescence tastes bitter.
The cab driver doesn't comment on the escrima sticks I have strapped to my back, and for that I’m grateful.
He drops us off outside the perimeter of Shibuya-- at Yoyogi Park, not daring to venture any further in, and no sooner than Fushiguro and I have disembarked, that he’s speeding off into the night.
Even from here, I can almost taste the death in the air, rising from the earth like smoke.
My briefcase now rests in an inventory pouch at my waist. Knowing we were heading into an apocalyptic hellscape, I’d stashed my business-casual outfit inside it, heels and all. In its place, we’d scrounged up a combat-ready uniform-- something far more suited to what lay ahead.
“Can you sense him?” I ask Fushiguro as we break into a brisk jog towards the direction of Shibuya-- towards Ground Zero.
He’s quiet for a few moments, and then, he gasps, face going white.
“Okkotsu’s here.”
1 November 2018
Notice from Jujutsu Headquarters
1. Geto Suguru’s survival has been confirmed, and he has been re-sentenced to death. 2. Gojo Satoru has been deemed an accomplice to the Shibuya incident and is thus permanently exiled from the Jujutsu world. Any attempt to remove his seal will be considered a criminal act. 3. Yaga Masamichi shall receive the death penalty for inciting Geto Suguru and Gojo Satoru in causing the Shibuya Incident. 4. The suspension of Itadori Yuuji’s execution is hereby revoked, and the execution is to be carried out immediately.
5. Special Grade Sorcerer Okkotsu Yuta will serve as Itadori’s executioner.
He breaks into a full sprint, and I follow after, pulling my escrima sticks from their holsters.
We find them under an overpass.
Or rather-- I find Naoya sprawled out on the concrete, a tall, imposingly pale man standing over him with blood dripping from his fingertips, spattering their robes and faces and the broken asphalt all around them.
Blood Manipulation. My mind races through the Kamo family registry. There’s only one member who has the technique-- the bastard son.
This isn’t him.
Next to me, Fushiguro stiffens, a sharp intake of breath slicing through the silence. I follow his line of sight-- and that’s when I see him.
Okkotsu Yuta. Walking toward the duo, calm as ever, footsteps steady over the broken asphalt. Unrelenting, foreboding, like death.
Behind him, he drags a limp body with a shock of strawberry blonde hair.
The pale man turns-- as if to strike at Okkotsu, who sidesteps deftly, faster than a blink, and smashes his fist decisively into his temple like a hammer to a bell, sending him reeling.
“Looks like you’re hurt, Naoya,” Okkotsu says calmly.
“Itadori!” Fushiguro shouts, panic in his voice. He’s already off the ledge of the overpass we’re situated on, landing gracefully on two feet--
And somehow, I saw it coming-- the way an old fracture aches before a storm. My knees jolt from the impact as I slip off the bridge after him, and as he’s about to charge Okkotsu, I grab onto his shoulders, hauling him back with strength I didn’t know I had in me.
Because what were we meant to do? A Grade Three and a Grade Two, against a Special Grade?
As much as the kid intimidated me and kind of annoyed me-- what with his bout of heroism that led us here in the first place-- he is my ticket to having a peaceful rest of my life, after all.
Naoya’s twitching on the ground, trying to raise himself onto his hands-- a futile endeavour, because then he ends up vomiting.
I wrinkle my nose at the sight.
“Stay out of this, Megumi,” Okkotsu says, calm, familiar-- and the form of address strikes me.
He’s, what, a year older than Fushiguro? Maybe two, at most? They were mentored by the same teacher-- Gojo Satoru. They must have known each other. Been brothers-in-arms, once.
I rely on that factor as I loosen my grip on Fushiguro’s shoulder, and he rushes over-- not to attack Okkotsu, as I initially assumed, but to shake Itadori, to pull him to his ear, murmuring frantically for a pulse.
“Odd place for a lawyer from the Jujutsu headquarters,” Okkotsu comments to me as he loosens his grip on Itadori’s hoodie, letting the boy’s prone body fall into Fushiguro’s arms.
“Not a lawyer, just a contract-weaver,” I reply. He doesn’t need to know that Fushiguro’s turned me into his temporary babysitter for the time being.
His lips twitch at that-- amusement that seems so foreign on his bedraggled face that I almost shiver. “Shall I heal him?” he asks, pointing down to Naoya, who stares up at me with a baleful eye.
I look over-- and he must read the question on my face, as he explains-- “My Reverse Curse Technique can heal people-- but I have a condition for him. Guess it’s my lucky day that that contract-weaver’s in town.”
I almost smile at that too, despite myself. Fancy that. A Special Grade considering it lucky to have me around.
“I have a condition of my own for him,” I add. “That he offer his full support towards Fushiguro’s ascension as the head of the Zen’in Clan.”
Even though it’ll probably be better if he died.
But my choices are as follows-- either he dies, and stops being a pain in my ass about the inheritance, or I bind him to my will, and make him do what I want where the inheritance is concerned.
In the end, I’m petty enough to enjoy the second over the first, despite the former’s overwhelming practicality.
“Clan head, huh,” Okkotsu muses to himself before turning back to me. “I have no objections to that. As for mine-- I want him to inform his superiors of Itadori Yuuji’s death.”
“No,” Naoya growls out-- a valiant effort, given how white his knuckles have become from being clenched so tightly.
“Are you sure?” I raise a brow, as Naoya’s face turns even whiter, and he curls in on himself.
“No,” he groans, before doubling over even further, as if his organs are trying to implode on themselves-- “Fuck-- do somethin’, don’t jus’ stand there.”
I stoop down, being careful to avoid the bile (formerly in his system, now outside of it). “Want me to kiss it better?” I croon mockingly.
He spits at me, and I barely dodge the wad of saliva, bile, and blood he tries to expel, standing up again.
“He’s all yours,” I tell Okkotsu, forming my hands together in a mudra as Okkotsu draws up the cursed energy in his own palm, placing it against Naoya’s back with healing intent.
I let my technique weave around us, golden threads that overlap and crisscross. “As you have accepted this healing, accept the conditions placed upon you for it-- that you will inform the higher-ups of Itadori Yuuji’s death, and that you will put your full support behind Fushiguro Megumi’s ascension as Clan Head.”
He doesn’t need to agree-- not for a condition like this. It’s hardly like his body, weakened as it were, could reject the healing, whether he wants to, or not.
The threads hang taut above Naoya’s body for a moment, and as Okkotsu stands again, brushing off his hands, they settle over his form, melting into his flesh like snow.
“Please guide Naoya back to Kyoto,” Okkotsu’s voice is calm. “I have further business to settle with Megumi and Itadori.”
The boy’s bent over his friend’s slumped body, a shadow in his face-- jaw clenched, and I realize I am seeing grief. I’m not heartless enough to try to press the issue of returning to the clan estate like this, especially not given the newest Zen’in now being under my charge.
“I’ll come to Kyoto as soon as I’m finished here,” Fushiguro says. Quiet. Steady. With all the evenness of someone with a habit of keeping their promises.
I wonder, for the first time, if there was more to Gojo Satoru’s persona and teachings than impervious power and irreverent posturing.
I wonder if there was honor there, too.

Kamen Rider Gavv Episode 40 Production Blog
lost my dog (the one in my pfp) this week, and… yeah this episode did hit a little bit because of that
TOKU TRANSLATION MASTERPOST HERE
translated from this page
Looking at the Next Episode
Shojiro Nakazawa guest directing, Dente’s exit, a Vram power-up, and Glotta too… Those were jam-packed episodes. The director was very particular about things like the exchange between Glotta and Dente before he kills him, to the extent that you wouldn’t think it was his first time on the show. And all those Gochizos being split in half… (Cries). Thank you very much, Director Nakazawa.
Gavv has finally reached its fortieth episode. Many things are still yet to come. Lango has returned (he was alive!), and enemies are decreasing and increasing at the same time. Next, episodes 41 and 42 will be directed by Takayuki Shibasaki. This director has supported “Rider” since the Heisei era, so when a show gets close to its final arc, he adds an extra serious and Rider-like feeling (Like in “Geats” episodes 45-47). What are the “spectacles” that approach [spoken of in the title]? What is the new form of Bitter Gavv? And what is that mysterious voice? Please don’t miss the next episodes!
And, while we’re talking about directors… Director Shibasaki’s Movie-Stage “The Shinigami Incident: Final” [TN: no official translation of this name so i stuck with the bad one that i did in the geats producers symposium for consistency lol] is now showing. The Movie-Stage series also has many appearances from tokusatsu veterans. This is the grand finale of a series that’s been going for five years. People who haven’t seen the series before can also watch it, so they should definitely see it!

The Episode in Short
Thank you for watching episode 40!

Gavv has finally reached its fortieth episode. Glotta’s final rampage, and Vram’s power-up. It was broadcasted with plenty of volume.
A Vram of Remembrance, À la mode
The word “remembrance” in episode 40’s subtitle carries a meaning of “thinking of the past and reminiscing”. Rakia’s thoughts of Comel and Glotta’s thoughts of Lango are similar to the heroes reflecting on their memories with Dente. This became an episode where you very much understand the fact that each of them are fighting with thoughts of lost loved ones in their hearts.

Dente’s final message for Shoma and his friends. Dente-like until the end, it’s brimming with playfulness. Actually, Komura originally wrote words for the other characters besides Rakia, too, but they weren’t used in the script of the show for the sake of convenience.
A legendary full version of Dente’s message… That does make one curious. Will we hear it someday…?!

The Gochizo “Puddingte” is born from everyone’s feelings towards Uncle Dente. Some people probably figured this out, but the name is a combination of “Dente” and “Pudding à la mode”. The words like [old-man-like words that Dente uses] heard when you listen to Puddingte’s voice reflect his character.
Puddingte’s voice actor is Kurumi Madoka! Ms. Madoka applied to the pudding auditions, and was unanimously chosen for her natural voice that made us wonder if Puddingte itself was sitting right next to us.

And Puddingte is used to transform into “Kamen Rider Vram Alamode Mode”! The design using silver plates used for pudding à la mode at its base certainly has an impact, and the asymmetrical arrangement of fruit on it is incredible taste! Personally, my favorite parts are the cherries slightly stuck on the pudding on the knees and under the feet, which was also a feature of the Pudding Custom form.
The transformation pose has also turned from the usual style of Rakia twirling his hair into him pushing his hair back. Shoji felt even more adult-like, making it a truly cool transformation pose!

Speaking of Vram, he previously had an aggressive fighting style, but with a metal body and a shield made of fruit, this is a powerful form that now also specializes in defensive strength, giving it truly no weaknesses! Unaffected by the attacks from Glotta, who specializes in attack, it boasts of an impenetrable defense.

The action, which made good use of the drafty location, was also eye-opening. With high-difficulty action where even a tiny slip causes failure, watching it being filmed was breathtaking…!
Also, Fantastics’ new song “Shake It Off” was used as an insert song during the fight scene today! The low bass and fast-paced melody matched it amazingly, and it became a 120-point musical masterpiece of an action song!

The Frightening Eldest Daughter’s Final Moments
I’ve written out what Vram did in this episode, but I can’t forget Glotta, who unfortunately made her exit in this episode. The previous episode depicted a lesser-seen side of Glotta, but this time, she went on an emotional rampage.
With the cruel collection method of hunting humans all at once by spraying happiness extract, she mass-produces high-quality Human Presses one by one.

The shot of Glotta accompanied by “with B”-like boys [TN: ????] was super cool. This is extremely niche information, but the two people behind Chitose in the shot are the people who usually play the Jardak family’s bodyguards, so they’ve always acted with masks on, but we needed them to appear with their faces in this episode. They look really good when standing next to the tall-statured Chitose, making for amazing footage.

The Glotta focus doesn’t stop after that, and she instantly slices a massive number of Gochizos in half. As per the director’s instruction, they’re shown completely cut in half and getting angel halos. (Poor things…) You all (Gochizos) shouldn’t have passed on like that…

The final scene of episode 40 is the sudden return of Lango! Tsukamoto shared many scenes with Chitose at the start of filming, and there are even more emotions in their grand finale.

And this was her final scene! The director handed her the flowers on a green-screen set, which has become somewhat of a home for the cast members who play the Stomach family. Gavv is in its home stretch, and the members of the Stomach family are disappearing…

It was cold out on her last day, but Chitose sent in shiruko soup! A wonderful message was sent to the set alongside a drawing of hers.

The footage of her auditioning for other works prior to this one caught our eyes, which led to Chitose being chosen for the prestigious role of Glotta. It was her first time performing in a live-action show, but she worked on her acting in earnest, and played the fascinating role of Glotta until the end. Her love for the character is profound, and it’s easy to tell how much she enjoyed the role.
Thank you for your hard work, Chitose!

The next episode is episode 41, “The Approaching Spectacles”!
A mysterious person, and a new Bitter Gavv. And what are these mysterious “approaching spectacles”?!
Please look forward to it!

“I’m swimming in the smoke, Of bridges I have burned, So don’t apologize, I’m losing what I don’t deserve”

This project was originally planned as a draft for the SaNami week 2021 (although the prompts were not even revealed yet back then *laughs* but then time came across and this was left to the drafts). Later I happened to open this unfinished project after a long while and decided it should be done and frankly spoken it was left again to the drafts as a half finished “test” version because I thought it was missing something (like subtitles but my old and crusty editing program was not co-operating :d) but now I decided it’s meant to be like this *laughs*
One of the reasons to pick this certain Linkin Park’s song was because its one of my all time favorites plus these lyrics seem to fit so well especially for the Sanji vs Luffy fight and it’s aftermath. Although the focus is on Sanji, this also became a little mixed version of both SaNami and LuSan (since WCI arc offered a lot for both from shipping’s perspective).
The chorus resonates very well with Sanji’s inner struggle of mixed feelings during the Tea Party he was dragged into. Gladly, this arc offered a huge opportunity for Sanji to have character improvement that he indeed needed.
As seen from the clips, this amv has the focus on the chapters 844 and 851 which are pretty much the turning points of the Totto Land arc plotwise and places for Sanji’s character developments. As fans have pondered before, this ac greatly highlighted Sanji’s tendency of putting everyone else before him. Sanji sincerly believed for a long time that by sacrificing himself he could spare his crew (just like Robin did back in Enies Lobby tried to save Straw Hats by putting her head on the place).
Although it was heartbreaking to see Sanji being betrayed by the one he thought he could rely on this arc (Pudding who was also pretty much tricked into this mess) it really was necessary for him to realize it was all a vicious plan built by Judge Vinsmoke and Big Mom and that Sanji was just a pawn in all that. He also forgot that his captain is the most stubborn one in the whole universe but honestly all Sanji needed in this arc was this wake up call and a kick from a butt from Luffy to remind that he is much more worthy than he thinks.

The “reversed video”-effect that was is Nobody it was easy (Luffy vs Sanji) amv made a little comeback and also I tried to draw focus some symbolism that Oda-sensei used as well in this arc i.e how the rain turned into a lightning storm and how he struggled to light his cigarette during his deepest moment of frustration (where he would’ve needed comfort the most) and in the end the rain ruins the fire and he realizes he hit the rock bottom and probably really thinks that “doesn’t deserve his nakamas”.

Gladly he did though and although this arc was great, it felt like it could stretch to have even more potential (i.e Oda-sensei could have given Nami and Sanji a proper reconciliation where they could have share their thoughts and explain each other). Shipwise this arc was very interesting from the beginning to the end and like in many reviews and posts, I think Oda-sensei did great work in general.
Not only by making Nami the badass fighter she deserves to be but also he did give Sanji and Nami potential to get their moments and even topped it up first with this dramatic emotional slap and later he made them reconcile by making Nami hug Sanji with teary eyes.
Shipwise Nami and Sanji have had a steady and balanced development throughout the series but the Whole Cake Island arc did give the vibe that although Oda-sensei wants to put the focus on nakamaship and chasing dreams, he does indeed tease fans with canon ship-material.
Anyway, shortly said, here you go, a new video. Hope you like it :)

Your black butler posting has made me want to watch it. In your opinion, is the Correct Viewing Experience to watch it sequentially as it appears on Crunchyroll?
Hey anon! I am delighted that you want to get to know my favorite little guys :D I really hope the length of this answer doesn’t scare you off 😅
My shortest and preferential answer: if you are able and willing to start with the manga instead and come back to the anime as a Fun Bonus later, that will unequivocally get you the best Black Butler Experience™.
The Black Butler anime is… a bit of a mess. It suffers from the common aughts anime problem of having anime only filler, made up endings, and spin offs that have nothing to do with the canon storyline and sometimes majorly contradict it. While everything from Book of Circus forward is a largely faithful adaptation, the early arcs are varying degrees of altered and there’s a lot of noncanon stuff to navigate around, and also you can’t just watch the seasons in order because there’s some vital stuff in the movie especially.
If you’re willing to read SOME manga but still want to get to the anime sooner than later, one thing you could do is read from the beginning up through the end of chapter 23. After that, you should watch in the following order:
—S3/Book of Circus (10 episodes)
—Book of Murder (2 episode OVA. This one isn’t on Crunchy, afaik the only legal option to watch it right now is to purchase a dvd, but it’s available on the high seas. You CAN skip it, it’s a largely self-contained story, but you will miss a certain character joining the main cast. Also it’s a shame to miss it, it’s just two hours of classic murder mystery pastiche and it’s so cozy and fun)
—Book of Atlantic (movie)
—S4/Public School Arc (11 episodes)
—S5/Green Witch Arc that’s airing later this year
Obviously there are some (usually minor) adaptation changes made, and you will be missing some of the stuff from the transitional chapters between arcs, but that sequence is a largely faithful adaptation and cohesive narrative.
I know there are some people out there who just started with Book of Circus. I personally can’t recommend that because you’re going to miss the introductory chapters/arcs for *several* major characters if you do. If, however, you are set on starting with the anime, I will break down how you handle watching S1 below the cut.
Season 2 is completely noncanon and basically standalone. It’s absolutely batshit off the wall and I do actually think it’s kind of fun to watch lmao, just so long as you go in with the mindset that it’s an OC-centric weird little AU fanfic. Do whatever you want with that (….except starting there. I do not recommend starting with S2). The OVAs besides Book of Murder are also noncanon and you can watch or not as you’re interested.
Okay. Season 1:
First of all, there are more and bigger changes made even to the canon episodes of S1 compared to the later adaptations—some of it is faithful, but for instance, the first episode completely changes out a character and alters the ending, another episode has a whole sequence of Grell at the manor that doesn’t exist in the manga, and. We’ll talk about the curry arc in a minute. Just keep in mind everything “canon” in S1 comes with asterisks, which is why I’m so hesitant to recommend starting there.
The canon episodes of Season 1 are: Episodes 1-6, 13, 14, and PARTS OF 15. From there you can jump to Book of Circus.
Everything else is either filler or part of S1’s anime-only storyline with its original ending. If you want to watch episodes 7-12 you can, just keep in mind everything in them is retconned from Circus forward. If you care about spoilers for the canon story, do not watch the second half of S1. The anime team was clearly given some information on certain characters’ backstories before they were revealed in the manga, so it spoils some fairly major stuff even if it has different specifics.
Regarding episode 15: this one is just fucked. I can’t say skip it entirely because episodes 13-15 are the introductory arc for two really major secondary characters. However, they significantly altered the way the climax of this arc plays out in order to set up for the anime original storyline, so it’s just going to feel like some nonsense that doesn’t connect to anything. They also massively altered Queen Victoria’s portrayal (she is just a whole different character S1). If you want to read JUST the chapters that episode 15 is covering, they’re chapters 21 & 22. Otherwise, you can watch it and just know that a lot of stuff in it isn’t canon. Unfortunately unless we ever get a reboot of season one then we’re just never going to have this arc animated properly, which sucks, and is the biggest sticking point imo in like. Explaining to someone how to watch the anime. This one episode is the main reason I’ve been going on for paragraphs and paragraphs about how to approach this thing lmao.
Obviously, at the end of the day—it’s a tv show and it’s not that deep. I’ve assumed that since you asked you are invested in getting the best version of the story, so that’s what I have tried to set you up for here, but also if this is wildly overwhelming and you’re like “fuck it I’m just gonna watch season one and go from there,” that’s what I did initially, and it clearly didn’t stop me from falling in love with this story. I care about Black Butler a LOT and I do want people to get to experience it in the best way possible, but like—more importantly it should be fun and not a chore. If I’m being honest the early chapters are a little janky in their own ways too! Which I find charming now, but like, it’s definitely a series that takes a minute to find its footing no matter where you start with it. So do what’s gonna bring you joy and I hope you like it <3
#black butler#answers#also psst. if you want access to the good manga scans and are willing to de-anon#jump in my DMs I should be able to help

How to Writing multiple characters in a scene!!
Writing tips w/ Sunny (part 1, because I ramble and im positive ill end up doing this again if people want or for my own satisfaction)
This is just my methodology put in a way I think makes sense, if this doesnt apply to you thats okay everyone has different stradegies that work for them <33
SO lets begin.
"Rules" of writing multi character scenes + arcs, (First half is how to add them into a scene, second half is maintaining and not letting them vanish)
AHEM- Well there are four ways to place a character in a scene
Narration POV Aka the protagonist, this is the perspective ever present unless you CLARIFY the story is now through the lens of another character (Take for example my fic, while I play with multiple perspectives- a bulk is from Tims POV)
Secondary POV This is the character that DIRECTLY interacts with the narrator aka their "first point of contact" so to speak, they ground the narrator in the scene as not alone and is actually interacting with other people. (This DOES NOT have to be a speaking role, it can be purely observational if need be- but its the character that gets the most attention via the narrators perspective SIDE NOTE- THIS CAN SWITCH AS WELL)
Interactive POV Now we get to the "filling"- since Secondary doesn't need a direct tie to the narrator, you can have another character interact with the secondary character. But since they are not the focus of the scene its good to have a REASON they "Enter" or else if you spend so long giving the narrators perspective on #2 then you risk having someone "Materialize" in thin air. (This isnt really a concern unless you wait too long into the scene to go "Oh this guy exists-" you have time as you paint the reader a picture of the new enviornment/scene)
Enviorment POV Last but most certainly not least (and the one i've seen people struggle with the most) is the character that is PRESENT A N D NAMED- But serves no plot importance/relevance (to the narrator) during the opening part of the scene.
To put in better perspective- think of being in a room, The Narrator is you observing your surroundings (depending on POV style how "into the mind" of the narrator we go)
Secondary is the person you focus on, you hear their conversation, see their body language, expression, clothing, etc. They are the personal "focus" (there can be multiple as well)
Interactive is people SURROUNDING the focus, those who still play a semi active and visible role. They can either be within your line of sight interacting with the enviorment or speaking to a secondary/narrator character.
Enviorment is the person in the back of class that you know, but don't really register unless they do/say something- but you are still AWARE of their presence. CAREFUL NOT TO INTRODUCE THEM TOO LATE, OR ELSE YOU HAVE THE "MATERIALIZE" PROBLEM AGAIN
Now into a scene(aka recycling an old one)
Tim starred ahead silently from his side of the couch, watching Jason fidget with the soda tab on his shitty off brand Doctor Pepper he always insisted on getting. Around and around over and over, it was giving him second hand anxiety.
Thankfully they weren't forced to stay in the moment as Dick leaned over and pressed his shoulder into Jasons with a beaming smile "Oh come on it'll be fun"!
"Says you golden boy" Steph teased, half hanging off her chair and a foot almost knocking over Cass chip bag, only stopped by the fact Duke snatched it and moved it further along the table.
Well at least Damian seemed to be reacting rationally, seeming intent on slouching in on himself the more Dick tried to pull him and Jason together into a "group hug". It was a wonder his arms could even reach that far- even more so that they were still intact.
But Jason, like the rest of them, was weak to Dicks puppy dog eyes. Tim saw the moment he gave up a losing battle and his shoulders slumped in defeat, though his scowl ever present. "If I say yes will you fuck off"
"Ah ah language, we have children here"! Dick gasped, placing his ears on Damians ears which only earned him a snarl in return.
"I don't think Damian counts as a kid- and I just turned 16 which is basically an adult" Duke tried to defend, but his 'fierce glare' had less effect with his hand stuck in a bag of gummy worms.
Tim huffed- if Dick kept it up, they would end up with "family night", and he doubted all of them would come back alive.
(END SCENE)
Now to break down- Tim was of course the "Narrator" perspective that was viewing the scene, we get his insight even while not directly interacting with the characters just by his description tone.
Jason was of course the main "Secondary"character (though Dick was a mix as well) where the scene introduced by Tims perpective and tone by someone else in the enviornment.
Then you have Dick who is a perfect mix of Interactive character (how he entered the scene via movement, placing himself in perspective to the established other two) while shifting to have the most "scene impact" whilst still not being Tims focus.
Finally you have everyone else serving as Enviornment characters, with either a simple Line-action (ex-Steph) or a name drop in general placement (Cass) or establishment through movement, and only relevent later in the scene (Duke).
Damian kind of floats between, he is introduced via a reaction + Narrator observation, but then is mostly just an eviornment character. He is THERE but not really awknowleged beyond that.
NEXT- If that doesn't help much you can rely on "Environment rule"
Aka everyone is always doing something in any space they occupy- apply that to your characters. It can be as simple as when you have one character speak loudly to the narrating POV, another character shifts away or laughs.
They didn't need to speak nor did you need to detract from the tension/pacing of a scene by describing in detail their expression, positon, etc.
BUT in that moment your reader just clues in to "Oh okay x is here-" that is established, and whether or not x plays a role in a future scene within that enviornment doesnt matter much.
This is also the PERFECT oppertunity to give characterization. If a tense moment is going on you can have the narrator notice another character stiffen/flinch (aka affected by the conflict, even if not an active participant)
FINAL PART- MAINTAINING
This is where shit can hit the fan f a s t- getting a bunch of characters in a scene is one thing but keeping them there?? Hell at times.
But once again this all relies on "Narrator perspective" and unless you are switching narrators, you need a "cone of vision" to determine what is or isn't important unless you might break the tension of a scene.
Methods include-
Reactions
Two+ background characters interact (verbal or not)
Interact with enviornment
Enter/Leave a space (of note)
A sound registered but not explored (a chair creaking back, a glass dropping, snack bag rustling, or even my favorite which is the sudden absense of sound implying an audience)
"Incidents" (Someone drops something, attention goes to them for a sec- apology/oneliners, then switch back)
Check ins from NON NARRATOR, (or narrator, but usually works better to keep track of who is focused on who)
Characters don't need to be "ever present" just remind your reader they exist somewhere generally in the scene (and keep them in your back pocket)
But The best possible tool at your disposal?? BANTER.
Let characters interact, feel out their dyanmics- If you dont know how they interact in non tense situations, how does that change when tension amps up. Have a background character throw in a one liner- or the narrator observe a conversation they aren't a part of.
LET PEOPLE BE PEOPLE- And they basically write themselves
Last but not least- if you feel stuck or lost?? Treat EVERYONE like a narrator.
Who are they paying attention to? What are they seeing? How do they REACT to that? Do they speak up, do they tense, do they try and slip away or stay strong?
You don't need to know this for EVERY scene- but sometimes it helps out of a rut moment
ANYWAYYSS- This is my rant and personal methodology of how I place/maintain multiple characters. I hope this helps for anyone interested, if not find what works for you!!
My Asks are open if anyone wants me to give any other advice, tips, or just general ramblings about writing.
Otherwise,
Happy writing!!

Got any kystophe fic recs?
ugh I WISH but, as expected, there's a drought of kystophe fics:( the best kystophe i've read (and what got me to like the ship in the first place) comes from a KYMAN fic called Disintegration (is the best album ever) originally posted on ao3 and later deleted but i have a copy if you'd like to try it (and if kyman doesnt bother you too much).
The premise is basically that kyle has psychic superpowers and is kidnaped by the government and later by La Resistance. This is how he and Christophe reunite; Christophe works for La Resistance and is tasked to bring kyle to them.
Christophe and kyle have some INSANE sexual tension going on like right off the get go. They bicker and argue A LOT at first. Christophe is nihalistic but also a conspirationalist which collides with kyle's more hopeful, authoritative self. On top of that, Christophe thinks Kyle is a "precious teenage boy" (his words) while kyle mostly fixates on Christophe's lack of hope (and hygiene). Their dynamic for the first half of the fic is GOLDEN. It's kinda like chloe and delgado from Beverly Hills Chihuahua XD
some of my favorite moments between them in this fic are: When kyle is rescued by christophe and is only wearing a hospital gown that winds up accidently exposing his thigh bc christophe blew the fucking wall off. christophe does give him clothes to change into but forgets kyle's underwear AND doesnt turn around to let kyle change. when kyle calls him out on it christophe actually gets embarrassed and akwardly turns LOL. Then, kyle is supossed to purge some nanomachine tracker thingies by pissing them out and, this time, christophe does turn around to give him privacy but doesnt leave him and kyle calls him out AGAIN for being creepy LMFAO
they do mess around (like full-on make-out sesh) and its hilarious bc the author kept trying to explain it by saying that kyle was thinking of cartman while being with christophe (and christophe of gregory while with kyle) but like at some point i even forgot it was a kyman fic because of how much kystophe there is. Cartman and kyle go CHAPTERS without seeing each other, let alone interacting. All the while, Kyle is sharing spit with Christophe
the author at some point must have been like "shit, Christophe and kyle now have way better chemistry than the ship i set out to write, what do i do?" because Christophe is killed off and it is kind of implied that cartman might have been involved...
This is totally my biased kystophe ass talking, but from here on out the fic kinda goes stale... it's not bad by any means but idk i guess i was only really invested on kystophe at that point. Kyle's reaction to Christophe's death is also the most ooc shit ever. He literally goes "Another inconclusive arc!" and that's it...
Kyle keeps Christophe's scarf and kills garrison the president. The author pulls some mental gymnastics to justify 1) cartman's insane behavior towards kyle by having kyle realize he is actually just as obsessed as cartman??? And 2) kyle not fucking dropping cartman for KILLING another boy that kyle must have considered a friend at the very least (in my kystophe eyes christophe was his true love but cartman had to go and ruin it so kyle settled)
But yeah, the fic is pretty interesting, extremely well written and the author is really creative and talented.
TLDR;
no, but actually YES
. Disintegration (is the best album ever)
Kyman with LOTS of kystophe https://drive.google.com/file/d/1oOCIg2nqH5ucRXxQV8C2duKXowGYBCKl/view
. Let Us Burn
was on hiatus and hasnt updated since february but is very well written AND is a SOT au!
https://archiveofourown.org/works/53702848
. Leader Of The Pack
this is an old one. the title is misleading, it has nothing to do with wolves lol the ending is also very rushed so i actually found it funny but mind the tags ig
https://www.fanfiction.net/s/1895960/1/Leader-of-the-Pack
if you want you can comeback to my askbox and idk talk about these if you want *winkwink*
Edit:
Kyle's Birthday Story
this one is mostly comedic but still has some pretty funny kystophe moments!
https://archiveofourown.org/works/4018114

I really enjoy your posts they’re very interesting to read ☺️ how did you first get into Bleach ?
Unfortunately the answer is: memes.
I want to state for the record that I, personally, was never a SomethingAwful Goon, but I was...Goon adjacent, and so when Leekspin became a thing, I realized that the girl in it was from the same show as this:
which I knew mostly because of its appearance in an 8-minute long montage of SA gif set to Revolution Deathsquad by Dragonforce.
I thought the leek girl was cute, so I looked the show up on Wikipedia and it was like, "oh. this is extremely my jam." I convinced Mr. P, who was not yet Mr. P (but was a Goon), that we should watch it, so we downloaded some fansubs from Dattebayo, as was the fashion at the time. We still have a bunch of episodes on an ancient hard drive somewhere, Mr. P found them recently. I'm not sure exactly when this was, but I'm guessing it was probably around 2007. It was definitely after 2006 and before 2008. I still remember that the Bleach discussion thread on SA used to be called "Telling you our names before we kill you."
Anyway, we loved it and kept up with it for several years and made all our friends watch it. I have a pretty vivid memory of freaking out with a friend of mine at our weekly D&D session about the reveal that Ichigo's dad was a shinigami. We also all went to see Memories of Nobody in an actual theater. We kept up with the anime as it aired until sometime in the Fake Karakura town arc, when the story slowed down to a crawl.
Several years later, when our second kid was a baby, I found out that the show had concluded, and the whole thing was available on one of the streaming services, and we thought it would be fun to rewatch the whole thing, start to end (you watch a lot of tv when you have infants). This rewatch did a real number on my brain and I started reading fanfic and discovered Tumblr. I decided I wanted to read the manga, and I started checking it out a couple of volumes at a time from the library. Later, I was able to get the whole run digitally on super-good sale from Comixology.
In 2019, I made this Tumblr and started writing fanfic. I guess we must have rewatched it again in the 2019-20 timeframe, since I wrote a bunch of recap posts. I just rewatched it last year with the same child, who has ceased to be an infant. I didn't let her watch the TYBW episodes yet because of the higher violence rating, but I think we're gonna do that next year.
It's always a little funny to me when people on here talk about watching Bleach as a kid, because I was a whole-ass adult the first time I watched it, and it's really strongly linked to a bunch of career and parenthood-related memories for me. Regardless, Bleach has had my back through a lot of rough times, and it's a story I still enjoy thinking about and finding new things in every day, even after a decade and a half.

so i made masm au
and im just gonna put the summary of the fic im working on here and go from there i guess

so anyway it's set somewhere after the Sun Continues His VILLAIN ARC [...] episode but before moon's confession. sun finds out that some of his memories have been erased somehow, someway (its not important how shhhh dont think about it) and understandably decides that leaving the pizzaplex is the best course of action. however he doesn't just leave — he makes a clone of himself to take his place so that nobody notices he's gone and can't stop him/search for him/erase his memories so he stays again. it's a perfect plan.
or it would be, if he didn't fuck up the process of the clone's creation.
instead of a copy of himself, sun gets a weird mix of himself and moon that resembles him in the only sense that they both are animatronics and have rays and even then the clone's are different than his. so sunclone is given a makeover by a very panicked, Going Thru It™ sunblock and neither of them has a good time.
after sun leaves the pizzaplex, sunclone is left Struggling to fit into the hole he left behind. its all very angsty with a pinch of fake dating™ to spice things up because when moon asks him out thinking he's sun, sunclone doesn't know how to turn him down :D
anyway have some pre-makeover sunclone art!!

(yes that is indeed the rainbow scarf freddy gave sun, he left it with him)
at first he was supposed to have two blue eyes but i didn't like how it looked so now he has one orange. it doesn't last long.
also fragments of the fic i'm writing!! i have like maybe a half of the first chapter done, if everything goes well i miiight post it by the end of next week (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*.✧
((fyi sunclone is referred to as sun because it's from his pov))

how. how would i even write out a proper fic of dramaturgy au,,
cutting this off bc i got too caught up in myself and rambled
ok umm,, dramaturgy as an au is just so character study-ish and generally character-focused,, plus the initial developments made on island are kiinda important to the cast dynamic?? so as i see it there are a few options:
A: rehash/go through the unchanged plot of island, the TDDDDI special, some eps of WT, using it to develop the Situation from other characters perspectives while maybe having one or two to emphasize noahs characterization
it gives a lot of time for character developments outside of noah himself, and time to reinforce noahs own characterization using that outside perspective,, but could potentially get boring/long-winded, since nothing different happens and its literally just Characters Having Screentime
^ maybe sub a full going-through with character vignettes and specific scenarios throughout island/the special/celeb. manhunt or after TD/eps of WT??? i guess you could also slot smth like this in with the other ideas aswell
B: begin the hypothetical fic post-jamaica challenge and leading into london, use it to exposition some minor things and generally establish characterization before getting into challenges and actual canon divergence
it doesnt drag on (as much atleast), gives you enough time with enough cast members to establish what the others think of noah and what noah thinks/how he behaves and why (probably slot in his distrust of alejandro here??), more challenges gives noah more chances (and reasons) to break character, though the character development has to be slow and conflict should probably be built up (but im kinda partial to this one ngl)
C: kindof half-baked but beginning in london (i’m imagining literally at his eel line), where hes eliminated that episode, but comes back via comeback challenge; arc kicked off by being so pissed off that he has to come back and do the Same Shit yet again (and probably because of producer-rigging. again.)
the conflict/character dynamics would move a little faster, its less to trudge through and figure out canon changes like the butterfly effect of noah staying in the game in london, but having less characters to have relationships/interactions with (but making the ones had can be more developed/rounded as a result), less Time in general, the original idea of noah ‘unmasking’ alejandro is kiiinda less impactful this late into the game?? slightly i feel like
or D: even more half-baked than C and kinda just 'possible' and feeling out of place, but you could have noahs arc happen in all-stars instead (smth smth the audience was vv dissatisfied with how he ranked in WT and so he gets brought back)
^ this is mostly bc i like the motif of noah having eel-pond related scars and seeing it as a physical reminder of where 'acting like the camera isn't there' can get him (but you could potentially fit this into the C idea, posing it more as a bitter feeling/theme rather than a motivation to continue his facade)
i dont really like this one from a storytelling standpoint, and it doesnt make much sense since theres no character motivation via unmasking alejandro since everyone already knows at this point?? idk it is there though
umm yeah thats all ive got, i guess you could also mismatch ideas like B&C so the fic starts post-jamaica but noah still gets eliminated, or have noah eliminated after london but still winning the comeback challenge and coming back swearing vengeance (within his own head mostly) or smth like that
i kinda wanted to just put this Out in the World and let it simmer before i start combing through WT to make the allotted ‘official’ canon changes of this au lol
(and not to mention theres still the issue of the actual Ending,, does he win?? is his winning both symbolic and the first genuine, intentional break of character he makes, to the audience and his peers beyond the unintentional ones hes made along the way???
smth smth character growth, hes learned how to let himself break character but now hes learning to do it intentionally too??? < im partial to that but im also biased towards noah and any hypothetical win of his
^ or does he lose?? and his ending watching the finalists parallel the island bit where he Did Not Care but now??? idk idk the longer i think the more i like the whole symbolic win thing but in terms of storytelling/the Themes, does it Work. i do like to think so
the original draft of this idea has noah not in fact winning but it also had a strangely,,,,, vindictive tone?? that might not be the word but the Themes were different and noah was more scheme-ish rather than defense mechanism-having so im thinking the ending should change as well)
#heavy handed symbolism save me heavy handed symbolism#actually the longer i think the more partial i become to the symbolic win thing#but again: noah bias. but again again: my au my rules#/lh. i am open to literally any input or suggestion anyone wants to throw at this#this my first time posting about little aus i have. i think its Fun#perhaps i should Share more often………#ive had so many canon diverging daydreams you cant even Begin to understand#hmm anyway#dramaturgyAU#total drama#td noah
