Web Novel Weapon Tournament

[Please be courteous in the notes. Don’t make me block you.]
Tianwen - Chu Wanning’s whip (2ha)
One of three holy weapons possessed by Chu Wanning, Tianwen takes the form of a willow branch whip that can force others’ to speak the truth. It’s half of a branch forged by the god of weaponry, and the other half was made into Mo Ran’s holy weapon, Jiangui
The cause of the iconic “I’ll fuck you to death, Chu Wanning!” line lol

Having finished vol.1, I am both amused and frustrated to find Mo Ran just as dumb as advertised.
The mental gymnastics this guy does analyzing Chu Wanning’s every action and expression and then continuing to refuse to acknowledge he feels anything other than hatred towards him is truly incredible.
And, the best part is, it makes total sense. Because while within the bounds of vol.1, we know very little about what actually happened in Mo Ran’s first life, it’s after effects show up everywhere. From the fact that Mo Ran still legitimately fears Tianwen, to the fact that he’s so attached to the idea of Shi Mei being his one true love; all of them contribute to his inability to sort out his feelings for Chu Wanning. Even a more intelligent character would struggle to correlate such disparate viewpoints.
Suffice to say, I am liking erha a lot so far.
#erha#erha he ta de bai mao shizun#mo ran#chu wanning#meatbun doesn't eat meat#mo ran is so surprisingly endearing as well#(expect of course when he’s being a jackass)#he is written in such an interesting way#where it acknowledges his (very glaring) faults#while also reminding you that he is in no way ‘inherently evil’#idk man#meatbun kind of cooked with this one#(not that she didn’t with yuwu#I still love yuwu)

MARS. The fourth from the sun.
The fourth planet from the Sun and the seventh largest in our Solar System. The exploration of Mars began a long time ago, about 3,500 years ago, in Ancient Egypt. The first detailed reports on Mars' position were compiled by Babylonian astronomers, who developed a number of mathematical methods for predicting the planet's position. Mars belongs to the family of terrestrial planets (Planets located in the inner region of the Solar System, as opposed to the gas giants located in the outer region. In structure and composition, some rocky asteroids, such as Vesta, are similar to terrestrial planets) along with Mercury, Venus, and Earth. Due to the reddish tint of its surface, given by the mineral maghemite – γ-iron(III) oxide, Mars is called the "Red Planet". Mars is well visible from Earth with the naked eye. It is outshone only by Jupiter, Venus, the Moon, and the Sun, but during "great opposition" (Opposition. The position of a celestial body in the Solar System, where the difference in ecliptic longitudes of it and the Sun is 180°, meaning this body is approximately on the extension of the "Sun – Earth" line and is seen from Earth roughly in the opposite direction to the Sun.) Mars can surpass even Jupiter in brightness. This phenomenon can be observed every two years.
Mars has two natural satellites – Phobos and Deimos (translated from ancient Greek as 'fear' and 'terror'), which are relatively small and have irregular shapes. Mars' mass is 10.7% of Earth's mass, and its linear size is almost half that of Earth's. A year on Mars lasts 687 Earth days, or about 669 Martian solar days (sols).
Mars experiences seasonal changes similar to those on Earth, but the eccentricity of its orbit leads to greater differences in the duration of the seasons. The atmosphere of Mars is very thin, with surface pressure approximately 160 times less than that of Earth. A large amount of dust leads to the occurrence of dust storms, which have a noticeable impact on temperature distribution in the Martian atmosphere and can completely obscure the planet's surface. The average temperature on Mars is -81.4 °F (-63 °C), and the daily temperature range varies from -128.2 °F (-89 °C) to -23.8 °F (-31 °C). The terrain of Mars has many unique features. For example, Mars has impact craters (depressions formed on the surface of a celestial body by the impact of a smaller body) similar to those on the Moon, as well as volcanoes, valleys, deserts, and polar ice caps similar to those on Earth. In the past, Mars, like Earth, experienced tectonic plate movements.
By the beginning of the 21st century, Mars has become the most thoroughly studied planet in the Solar System after Earth. As of 2024, the orbital research group around Mars consists of seven functioning spacecraft: Mars Odyssey, Mars Express, Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter, MAVEN, ExoMars Trace Gas Orbiter, Al-Amal, and the orbiter of the Chinese Tianwen-1 mission. This is more than around any other planet, except for Earth. Additionally, the surface of Mars is currently being explored by two rovers – Curiosity and Perseverance.

Multiple Elements Character Tournament - Round 1 (D) 4/12
Chu Wanning: Wood and Metal
Zagreus: Water, Lightning, Ice, and Poison
Propaganda under the cut
Chu Wanning: Chu Wanning uses a willow whip called Tianwen which can be used to interrogate people and make them speak only the truth! He can use a guqin which is attuned to his spiritual core and is named Jiuge! He is well versed in creating mechanical devices (out of metal) such as the Holy Night Guardian! He can also make spells which very very few cultivators can.[Spoilers] He has a sword named Huaisha which he only uses when he is getting really serious such as during the battle with Taxian-jun in his previous life when his core shattered. The wood element is essential to a plot twist about his origin since his sort of adoptive father but not really guy basically took a log of wood from the ocean and carved Chu Wanning out of it in order to present it as a kid to a guy whose kid he killed. Tianwen is from the same wood as the log and so is the whip used by his lover, Mo Ran in his second life.

Erha Volume 1 thoughts as they appear part 40
If I was Chu Wanning I would have handed Mo Ran the whip and then noped the fuck out of there
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha ha ha ha
Mo Ran deserved that
Why do I feel like they're about to be pulled into Clue?
Even his whip can't help but attack Xue Meng
I know this is odd, but I love Tianwen and Jiangui
I also love that Chu Wanning isn't subtle at all... if you know what to look for
Am I getting Mo Ran being accused of murder?
part 31, part 32, part 33, part 34, part 35, part 36, part 37, part 38, part 39, here, part 41

Scientists construct first complete energy spectrum of solar high-energy protons in Martian space
Scientists have constructed the first complete proton energy spectrum observed during an eruptive solar event in Martian space, deepening our understanding of the radiation environment around Mars.
This study was jointly conducted by researchers from the University of Science and Technology of China, the Institute of Modern Physics (IMP) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), the Lanzhou Institute of Physics, and the University of Kiel in Germany, and was published in Geophysical Research Letters as a cover article.
Solar energetic particle (SEP) events, caused by solar eruptions, are among the most destructive space weather phenomena. During these events, high-energy charged particle flux in space may increase suddenly, posing significant threats to the safety of spacecraft and astronauts.
Unlike Earth, Mars lacks a protective magnetic field and has a very thin atmosphere, making its surface particularly vulnerable to high-energy particles and secondary particles. Therefore, studying the impact of SEP events on Mars is crucial for radiation protection in future Mars exploration missions.
In November 2021, China's Tianwen-1 orbiter entered its science mission orbit around Mars. Its Mars Energy Particle Analyzer (MEPA) began measuring particle flux. With a wide energy measuring range of 2–100 MeV, MEPA significantly enhances the capability to monitor high-energy protons in Martian space, providing critical data for this study.

Astronomy Daily - The Podcast: 2nd September 2024 Welcome to another episode of Astronomy Daily from Downunder. It's Steve here, bringing you the latest space and astronomy news on this second day of spring and September 2024. We've got a mixed bag of stories for you this week, from China's high-resolution map of Mars to SpaceX's Falcon 9 mishap, and much more. Let's dive right in! Highlights: - SpaceX Falcon 9 Mishap: The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has cleared SpaceX to restart its Falcon 9 launches following an investigation into a rare mishap during a first stage booster landing. The booster tipped over and exploded while attempting to land on a droneship off the Florida coast. Despite the mishap, the mission successfully delivered 21 Starlink Internet satellites into orbit. This incident ended a streak of over three years of successful booster landings. - NASA's Solar Sail Deployment: NASA's advanced composite solar sail system has successfully deployed in space. Launched on Rocket Lab's Electron vehicle, the solar sail reached full deployment on August 29. This innovative technology uses sunlight to guide its path through space and will be tested for maneuverability in the coming weeks. The data gathered will help design future solar sail missions for space weather monitoring, asteroid reconnaissance, and more. - Europa Clipper's Solar Arrays: NASA's Europa Clipper spacecraft has been fitted with gigantic solar arrays at the Kennedy Space Center. These arrays, each measuring 14.2 meters in length, are the largest ever developed by NASA for a planetary mission. They will help power the spacecraft as it investigates Jupiter's icy moon Europa, aiming to determine if its subsurface ocean could support life. The spacecraft is scheduled to launch on October 10 and will arrive at Jupiter in 2030. - China's High-Resolution Mars Map: China's Tianwen-1 mission has created the first high-resolution global color map of Mars. Developed by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, this map has a spatial resolution greater than 1 km and could support future crewed missions to Mars. The map was created using countless remote sensing images acquired by the Tianwen-1 orbiter. - Boeing's Starliner Return: NASA has announced that Boeing's Starliner capsule will depart the International Space Station no earlier than September 6. The capsule, which has faced multiple delays and technical issues, will return to Earth uncrewed. Astronauts Sonny Williams and Butch Wilmore, who were originally scheduled to return on Starliner, will now come back aboard a SpaceX Dragon capsule in February next year. - DART Mission Debris: Debris from NASA's DART mission, which tested a kinetic impact to nudge an asteroid, could potentially reach Earth and Mars. While it's unlikely we'll see a meteor shower on Earth, the debris could result in meteors on Mars. The DART mission successfully shortened the orbit of the asteroid Dimorphos around its parent asteroid Didymos. For more space news, be sure to visit our website at astronomydaily.io.
