I swear to god some people should not be teachers/instructors/professors. Nothing dissapoints me more than someone who is suppose to encourage their students to follow their dreams, instead, crush them. You may hate their idol (Bob Ross, Tim Burton,Victoria Frances, Lindsey Stirling, Marlon Brando, etc) but that does not give you the right to steer them away from their passions. It's ok to be realistic. As in telling them that it may not be easy,but if they want it they will have to work for it. Or if they want to perform like someone theyre going to have to learn the basics and then go from there. I have experienced this personally in college for the fine arts. I had little support from people who lived in the past (being called a liberal artist, "its great she's going to college. But she isn't going anywhere" "All you can be is an Art Teacher"). And even got a review from a professor telling me to drop out of art. Because if I kept going I would be more and more dissapointed as time went on. Only C I have ever gotten for an art class. I did not pay for a college education to be told what art is. Sometines I wonder if the teacher is jealious of how well the students idol is doing in the same field that they are in. My painting professor HATED Bob Ross with a passion. But this gal, who is an incredible painter, loved Bob. Maybe my professor was jealious that the man who painted "happy little mistakes" was having a better art career than him? Did not give him the right to discourage this fellow art student though. Printmaking class. I had a sketch that was very much like Victoria Frances work,who I love. But I was told that it wasn't true art. Yeah, but this style still sells over your bullshit example. It took me a few years to rebuild myself, now I just need to deal with this illness crap so I can have my energy again. To those who teach, inspire your students! Encourage them even if you may not agree with them. You will have a strong impact on their minds.
