Day 13: Respite

Link collapsed in the water with a relieved sigh. Water trickled into his boots, but he couldn’t bring himself to care. They were disgusting right now, anyway. He was covered in sweat, dirt, and monster blood.

Link leaned back on his hands and tipped his head underneath the short waterfall. His muscles began to relax under the cool water.

A soft chime caught his attention. Link leaned forward to peek open one eye, then gasped. At least a dozen fairies were floating around the stream, bouncing playfully off the leaves and splashing the water with their wings.

A few particularly brave fairies spun around his head, dousing him with their healing magic. His scrapes and bruises faded away, replaced by the warmth of a long overdue hug.

“Thank you,” Link said.

The closest fairy spun and chimed happily. It zipped around him, then settled ever so softly on his head. It nestled in his hair until it was comfortable.

Link smiled, barely holding back a laugh. He couldn’t risk jostling his new friend’s perch.

I just found out Fairies can land on Links head in twilight princess. Do what you will with this information

I have been thinking about Midna returning to Hyrule. And personally I like to think that for whatever reason, she might have had some kind of issue within the twilight realm or another thing that she, nor her kingdom, could manage on her own. So she decided that the best course of action was contacting Hyrule for help, not exactly restoring the mirror per se but rather something similar to the way she uses to talk with Zelda when they were kids, as shown on the Twilight Princess manga.

After the issue was solved Midna found herself thinking about her time amongst the hylians, ultimately reaching the conclusion that she desired to at least visit her friends form time to time. So the ruler of the twilight realm talked to Zelda again, who, along with Link and Shad, made some research and found a way to restore the mirror (don't ask me how, I am yet to think that out) and they lived happily ever after or something like that
