Well, in terms of news to wake up to, my DMs being full of people rushing to tell me solicits have a Dinah solo is certainly up there.
So the good thing is that I already know Dinah is cursed and not allowed to have a decent solo that I can recommend to other people by DC, so I don’t have any expectations to raise.
Even if, were I a less cynical person, that premise is right in my wheelhouse of what I’d love to see for Dinah.
But I’m not getting excited, you understand. Even as it sounds like we might finally get Dinah Drake confirmed retconned back to her JSA pre-Flashpoint self, and Ted Grant is in it, and my brain has a dozen directions such a story could go if I were writing it…I am not allowed to have any hopes.
Even without discussing the writer, it’s a Black Canary solo, and Black Canary solos are never anything that I can hand to someone to explain my love for Dinah, so why would DC start now?
On the other hand this will almost certainly not contain Kurt Lance or a white slavery storyline so it’s starting out middle of the pack for a Black Canary solo…

i really don't get how anyone's hyped about notch saying he announced "basically minecraft 2". most of his career consists of saying he's gonna make a game, barely half-finishing it, and abandoning it when he gets slightly stressed or nobody finishes making it for him. he never finished any of the supposed minecraft successors he announced before, i seriously doubt this one will be any different lmao

The good news is my smart typewriter arrived, the bad news is its battery is deceased
#basically i tried to turn it on right out of the box and it did not respond at all#so i put it on charge and left it for like 10 minutes; at which point it did turn right on when i pressed the power button#i did the quick start stuff and postbox works fine; send to email works fine; all the keys seem to work and it did a firmware update#which fixed the tiny bit of lag the screen had at first#i’m constantly hitting the wrong keys but i do that on any keyboard til i’m used to it. it’s a nice keyboard#the only thing is when i checked how charging was going just now; the battery percentage was still showing 1%. 🧐#it’s been charging for well over an hour and a half#i did a restart and switched to what i think is an optimal charger#(i.e. the usb cable that came with the device + the usb-c wall plug that came with my ipad#not the charging lead for my earbuds + a random wonky samsung plug which is what i was using before)#i’m also going to fully stop bothering it until probably like late in the evening at minimum#i SHOULD be working technically#in my defence i didn’t expect it to arrive so soon. tracking never updated so i thought it was stuck at a random international depot#when actually it made it to heathrow like 2 days ago#look i’m just going to try and count my blessings that everything aside from the battery is working beautifully right now#and if i was a lithium battery left in transit for like 10 days i’d probably die too#worst case scenario i’m just going to have to exclusively use the thing while it’s plugged in. and it has a long cable.. i’ll be fine#personal

Month 12, day 2 Changing up the format a little for reasons you'll see in a second
I have two images for y'all tonight! And a challenge! It's a spot the difference challenge and no, believe it or not they are not actually the same picture lol
So I'm back on CG Fast Track because I spent a lot of good money on that website for full, unfettered, forever access to their courses and by golly I'm gonna use it! We're still learning how to optimize Cycles for rendering, but I did some ~*experimenting*~ because I'm me like that. Anyway, onto the pictures!
Tumblr media
First, we have an image rendered at 2048 samples, as recommended by the course, which took approximately 22 minutes to render. It's very pretty but we can do way, way better than almost half an hour for a still image.
Tumblr media
Next, we have the same thing, rendered at 256 samples, as recommended by me doing trial and error and being so freaking bored all night while the tests rendered. This one took 3.39 minutes to cook.
Spot the difference! I can, largely because I've been staring at these things all night lol ...although depending on how Tumblr compresses the images when they upload they might not have any noticeable difference even to my eye. Hmm, didn't consider that. Oh well, too late now! And anyway it's a super ridiculously negligible difference in image quality for such a drastic reduction in render times, but I genuinely learned a whole bunch so yay! Art! :D

The Evolution of Vessel and Terminal Operations
With growing international freight volumes, freighters are increasingly larger and quicker. Shippers require lower shipping costs, but shipping companies look to decrease the cost of shipping per unit. Reducing vessel turnaround at ports has emerged as an extremely effective measure of cost-saving, and therefore terminal operators have turned to the most advanced container terminal automation technology. Hence, it is necessary to invest in new container terminal operating systems (CTOS) and new infrastructure for improved efficiency as well as dock reduction time.
The Role of a Container Terminal Operating System (CTOS) in Efficiency
With the highly competitive environment, effective terminal operations are essential to retain a competitive advantage. Though capacity expansion of the terminal has been the focus, terminal management software tends to get neglected. A robust container terminal operating system (CTOS) is essential to automate processes and improve service levels.
Tumblr media
The primary features of a CTOS are:
Optimized Container Movement Management: Accurate placement of containers within the terminal.
Automated Loading/Unloading Scheduling: Optimizing the utilization of container yard management systems based on real-time shipping data.
Seamless Multi-Modal Integration: Enabling unproblematic road, rail, and sea transportation mode transfers through automated gate system support.
Improved Communication: Providing stakeholders with precise container tracking software updates.
Key Factors Influencing Port Efficiency
Container terminals play a critical role in international logistics by managing cargo handling and intermodal transfers. Several factors impact port efficiency, including:
Yard Size & Layout: Directly influencing storage capacity and movement optimization.
Maritime, Road, and Rail Connectivity: Ensuring efficient cargo transfers between transport networks.
Advanced Machinery: Boosting operational productivity and enhancing automated gate system performance.
Container Terminal Operating System (CTOS): A foundational tool that streamlines operations, from vessel planning and optimization to yard truck management system implementation.
The Strategic Importance of a CTOS
Maximizing efficiency and minimizing costs are key issues for terminal operators. Container terminal operating system (CTOS) simplifies container handling, making cargo flow smooth.
The key benefits of CTOS implementation include:
Reduced Vessel Turnaround Time: Faster cargo handling increases port calls and enhances throughput.
Revenue Optimization: Efficient asset utilization and automated invoice processing improve financial performance.
Lower Operating Costs: Reducing manual operations and leveraging container terminal automation minimizes expenses.
Maximized Resource Utilization: Optimizing asset allocation across yard truck management systems and depot management system (DMS).
Enhanced Transparency & Collaboration: Real-time reporting strengthens stakeholder communication, improving customer satisfaction.
Envision (iPortman) CTOS: The Future of Port Management
Envision’s iPortman CTOS is designed to meet today’s operational needs while future-proofing port efficiency.
Key advantages include:
Modular Architecture: Adaptive module-based deployment for scalable container terminal operating system expansion.
Comprehensive Cargo Handling: Supporting imports, exports, and container freight station software (CFS) integration.
All-in-One Port Management: Unifying all operations under a single platform, including vessel planning and optimization.
