Teaching my son to sew. So far he’s loving it and his first embroidery hoop is coming along beautifully. With the darker evenings closing in he’d like to have a go at some new crafts.
As well as sewing, he’s excited to try working with paracord, have a go at basket weaving and even have a bash at whittling.
Fun times ahead … 😃🪡 🧵 ✂️

Stepping Out of Your Comfort Zone: Growth Starts When You Get Uncomfortable
Tumblr media
This week, your favourite introverted girl has been pushing herself out of her comfort zone—and let me tell you, it’s been a journey. From memorizing eight French songs for an upcoming performance, collaborating with a band for a live show, showing up to music events (yes, actually showing up), to signing up for an energy exchange program at my favourite dance studio—it's been a wild ride.
I won’t lie, it’s been both rewarding and a struggle. I’ve had to practice a whole lot of self-compassion, patience, and validation just to keep myself grounded. It’s not easy to step into new territory when your natural instinct is to retreat to safety. You see, I have this personal rule: never make plans when I’m super happy or super sad. But when I committed to all these things, I ignored that rule and the inner voice that kept shouting, “No! and just said “yes.”
Why? Because lately, my mindset has shifted. Lately, I’ve been embracing the whole “Why not?” attitude. My new way of thinking is: “Why not?” and, “So what if I fail? At least I tried.” I won’t know what I’m capable of unless I push my boundaries. Failure is no longer something to fear—it’s a learning opportunity. And here’s the thing—if something doesn’t work out, maybe it’s not because it wasn’t meant for me, but because I just need to try a different approach.
Comfort = Stagnation. Being comfortable, at least in my experience, is a sign of stunted growth. I’ve grown so much by putting myself in uncomfortable, unfamiliar spaces. I’ve learned how capable I am when I challenge myself. Growth happens when you’re a little bit (or a lot) uncomfortable. Two years ago, I could blame my romantic relationship for holding me back, but this year, I realized: the only thing standing in my way is me.
So here’s the takeaway—I’d rather go out there, give it a shot, and maybe fall flat on my face, than sit around wondering, “What if?” I’d rather stumble while moving forward than sit back and wonder, What if? Growth happens when you step into the unknown. Growth comes from action, not from playing it safe. Don’t let the fear of failure keep you stagnant. You might just surprise yourself with what you’re capable of!
"Life begins at the end of your comfort zone."
What’s your comfort zone keeping you from? Maybe it’s time to stretch a little—and see what happens.
Step out of your comfort zone today and see what magic happens. 🌱✨

How to Help Kids Build Resilience During a Move
Tumblr media
Here are some simple ways to help kids adjust and grow stronger during a move:
1. Talk About the Move
Let kids share their feelings. Ask them questions like:
How do you feel about moving?
What are you excited or worried about?
What will you miss the most?
Reassure them that it’s okay to feel sad, but also remind them of the good things that will come with the move.
2. Get Them Involved
Make moving a fun experience by letting kids:
Help pack their toys and books.
Choose decorations for their new room.
Plan a goodbye party for friends.
Being part of the process gives kids a sense of control and excitement.
Tumblr media
3. Keep Routines as Normal as Possible
Kids feel safe with routines. Try to:
Keep bedtime and mealtime schedules the same.
Continue favorite family activities.
Set up their room with familiar items quickly.
Having a routine makes the new home feel comfortable faster.
4. Encourage Making New Friends
Making new friends helps kids feel at home. Encourage them to:
Say hello to neighbors.
Join a club, sport, or activity they enjoy.
Invite a classmate over for a playdate.
Remind them that friendships take time, and it’s okay to start small.
5. Be Positive and Set an Example
Kids learn from parents. Show them that change can be good! Talk about the fun things in your new home and explore the new area together.
Watch a Fun Story About Moving!

Everybody has a different taste in food. But, we all still go ahead and try new things even if it’s for just that once or even if it’s a little expensive for our taste. But there are some people who don’t and on the top of that list are all mothers. What do you think your mother would say if you asked her out on a sushi date?

To answer your tags @cartoonsforlife , I don’t remember how long it took as I sculpted it between working, kids and bunch was sculpted and refined live on TikTok (which means I was chatting and getting distracted 😹), but here is the video of the initial sculpting process for the 16” larger faceplate.
But it was over the course of a few weeks for the big one and the little one was a couple days worth of sculpting using Monster Clay. I made it for my son’s Halloween costume for 2022.
I still have the molds and have more plans once I move to a place I can pour resin again. 😭
I have the original sculpture and plan to make a Ruin Eclipse version in the future too 💕
Tumblr media
Had to light them all up tonight! I’m surrounded by faceplates and loving it!
Still working out how to make the lighting make sense, be accessible and be able to change the batteries. More experimenting!
