DAVIDO AND WIZKID, PLEASE DO A SONG TOGETHER AND UNITE NIGERIA

Many countries have symbols on their flag. Uganda(yeye people wey arrest our superstars LOL) have a chicken, Mexico has its coat of arms and many others like that. Nigeria doesn't but if she wanted to, I know the best symbol that best describes her and it is the mathematical symbol " ÷ ", division.

We are always divided. If it is not religion, it is tribe or polical ideology. You could say "Dooorrr! But what do you expect? We have more than 250 tribes! If not because of stupid Lord Lugard, we will not even be a country."

Are we the only diverse country in the world? Diversity is not an excuse for divisiveness. The tower of Babel didn't collapse because the builders woke up and discovered that they were speaking different languages. For God sake there are deaf and dumb civil engineers in the world. When the Bible says they spoke "different languages" it is a metaphor that they were not on the same page even when they were speaking the same language. The strangeness of the next man's language only heightened their already inbuilt insecurity.

We as Nigerians will always find any opportunity to be in an heated you-against-me situation. And it's not even in an healthy point-based argument but in a toxic, abusive, bloodthirsty war on each other. We love this so much that even music, which is the most unifying force in the universe, has become our latest battleground and that for me is the last straw.

Every industry has their two Giants in competition with each other; CocaCola & Pepsi, Messi & Ronaldo etc. So when this Wizkid & Davido wahala started it was not something new or bad. But you can always guess that our inbuilt divisiveness will take to a toxic level. People no longer objectively listen and enjoy music. They pitch tents with a musician and 'ride or die' for them no matter what kind of music they drop and they attack/hate the music of the closest competitor to their 'idol'.

The accident at the Club in Ghana between Davido and Burnaboy is an ugly result of this. Aside from whatever might have happened at the club, many of us know the confraternity(another division oh) undertone in the runnings of our top musicians. This is a freaking ticking time bomb mehn!

It is no longer interesting. Engaging with a Wizkid, Davido or Burnaboy fan is no different from talking to an extremist or fanatic.

We can't continue in this divisiveness any longer. It is the reason we are in this deplorable state. It's not corruption that is holding us down, it is our refusal to come together and make the country great.

Davido & Wizkid can use music, which Fela called the most powerful weapon, to ignite a spirit of unity across the land. Just one song! It doesn't matter what they sing about. They can sing about the backside of a woman but the single fact that two of them let go of all this rubbish and did a song together will send a wave through the land that may be the spark to ignite the positive change that has elluded us like forever.
