Finally did an art! My yeen self was in dire need of a makeover. Added some elements from my most recent kintype discovery (bernese mountain dog) while retaining most of the hyena basis. The wolf part is more akin to werewolf, another form, not so much represented here. Maybe in a future drawing...

Training As Otherkin

It recently dawned on me that despite this being a fairly important part of my otherkin experience for a while now, I haven't actually mentioned it.

So, what do I mean by training?

It may not be what you're thinking.

Essentially I take some time out of my schedule to work on nurturing the skills and attributes that are common to my kintype.

For me that means strength, mobility, and heightened senses.

If you're like me then you're probably sceptical at the phrasing "heightened senses" in the contect of training. For me it's less about gaining "super powers" and more about getting better at using what I have.

As a werewolf my training consists of physical exercises like push ups, sit ups, squats, leg lifts, etc. That's for covering the more obvious strength of a werewolf. I also want to do more jogging and climbing practice, since I have pretty no experience with getting to high places.

Finally, probably the most interesting part, sensory training.

One of my favourites is just walking around in the dark (in the safety of my home!! Don't try this somewhere you're unfamiliar with!!) It builds my understanding of space, and helps me orient myself in situations with limited vision. It's also just plain fun.

Other stuff includes people watching to improve my observation skills, trying to identify the source of various scents and building a better memory for smells, identifying the direction and source of sounds in the environment, and generally taking in more information from the world.

This is all largely for fun, and the most important thing to me is that it makes me FEEL like a werewolf. No matter what limitations there may be on practical progress, it's enjoyable. And I can say with certainty that at least with my physical training I am leaps and bounds ahead of where I started.

My goals right now are to improve my observational skills, and learn how to climb obstacles like trees and fences. I'll make sure to keep you all updated!

I was born in a small town just off the coast, where I spent most of my puphood roaming the beaches and forests, and generally causing havoc in the fields nearby. Nobody ever really questioned my connection to nature, because by then I was already seen as the 'wolf pup' in the family - especially by my father, who called me his wolfchild on the regular.

My identity is psychological and physical in nature. It's a big and important part of my life. I usually use the term 'holothere' to describe it, but I'm also cool with just 'werewolf' In day to day life, I don't often let my canid side show, but I'm working on socially transitioning so I can finally drop the act.

I'm also POSIC! I'll talk about my companions in a later post, but they're as much an important part of my life as being a dog is. Respectful questions about anything welcome!

Please be patient with me when it comes to uploading, replying to asks, or messaging back in dms. I'm mentally ill and working full time at the moment, so trying to juggle everything at once can be a challenge. Update on my jacket patches! I've added a bunch that I really like and feel the need to share to the creature side of Tumblr.

Pardon the dog hair, it gets in everything and cannot be contained. I shared a few of these before on their own/before they were added to the jacket. I posted the local werewolf (+ meat, coyote x-ing) way back when I first made them, and finally added them! My theta-delta is still going strong, and is joined by my pronoun pin, which was gifted to me during pride last year. I also made an egg (inside joke) and was gifted a frog made by my best friend! I made a trans symbol and lavender sprig to symbolize my queerness and connection to the community.

Next is my trans flag that I made, and another patch made by my best friend of a worm OFF the string! What crimes will he commit?

These next ones aren't sewn on yet, but these will be the latest additions! All gifts from my best friend! On the left is a desert patch for my coyote theriotype! I'm an anxious dog and have honorary handlers (both my boyfriend and my best friend), hence the service dog patches.

After those ones I want to make more canine themed ones ofc, but also want to try making patches for my fictotype/kintypes too! I'll probably add others that are silly or cool, and maybe get other pronoun pins. I'd like to add all my names somewhere but there's a lot and they have switched up a bit so idk yet. Big blog update!

This is an update that is long overdue, but I think I have finally made the choice to update this blog from its original purpose, as not just a kin blog but to also document my experiences as a system.

Genuinely, this blog was just supposed to be a new kin blog for me to interact freely and discover myself, but as time went on it also became apparent that more than some kin shifts were going on. After talking to system friends and becoming hyper fixated on it multiple times, and many, many more pieces of evidence, its clear to me that I am a system.

Regarding my systemhood, the most that really needs to be known is its most likely OSDD. Thats all that I feel comfortable sharing about us, in the future we will do our best to cultivate mini intro post regarding who will be online more often and posting. Otherwise things will be kept more vauge not just for privacy reasons but tbh there is so much we dont know about eachother that even if we wanted to, we could not share every detail. Being a system is a very personal thing to most of us and we hope everyone respects that.

Now about all the kin stuff. Its gotten more complicated now, as some kintypes have turned out to be headmates and makes me question just how true that could be for the rest of my links and kin types. Like i said, its all pretty messy for us regarding not just our systemhood but also with the kintypes that were once pinned onto just "one person." Now that I will probably share more about as time goes on seeing as that is more relevant to the blog and hopefully that can be developed soon.

I am well aware of how long this post is, so I will end with a few short words. We are all planning to make this blog more active after posting this, each contributing our own things to it, and having a different space to openly share our experiences with other systems.
