#VSDX to XPS export

Back in 2020, I installed Evolus Pencil Project (64 bit). Evolus Pencil Project is an open source Graphical User Interface Prototyping tool. It can be used to create mock-ups of web apps, mobile apps and software design. It is available on Windows 64 bit and 32 bit, Linux and Mac. It first came out in about 2008. In 2019 it received a new user interface refresh. (See first image above compared with image below) I first came across this application whilst experimenting with Visio 2007 (2003 pictured above) in my free time at Farnborough College of Technology. Wire-frame diagrams, some classic GTK2+ Linux themes, Android stencils, iOS stencils, Windows 7 Aero stencils and Windows XP Luna stencils.

I am using the XP UI style shapes. More UI stencil collections can be added from the website. Each stencil is drawn in the SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) format and has interactive window elements such as progress bars, buttons, tabs, window buttons and text can be inputted into certain shapes. You can also select various shapes to use as well. When you save a project, it saves in .epgz (Pencil for Firefox Compressed Document) format. You can also export it as a .svg, png or .pdf file. A similar tool to Pencil Project is Microsoft Visio 2007, which I have used in the past. See screenshot of Visio 2003 which features similar shapes below. Visio's use extends creation from flowcharts, mind maps, network mapping and user interface prototyping. Visio saves in the .vsdx (Visio Stencil Document) format. However, if you just after User Interface Prototyping tools, then Evolus Pencil Project offers most of what you need for this. I found after installing the software, it works as it should, however the Pencil Project application adds its start menu and desktop icon entries on the Administrator account but not on the Standard user account. You have to locate the application in Windows to launch it under a Standard account. This isn't a big problem, it is just a nuisance. Overall Pencil Project starts-up quickly, is very stable, and is easy to use. I installed it in Linux Mint 20 Cinnamon running inside Oracle VM VirtualBox. I installed the .deb (Debian) file and installed Evolus Pencil Project onto Mint. Here it is running next to Windows 10 and here it is themed on Linux Mint Cinnamon with the 'XP Professional' theme! .NET Core Support, Improved Setting Layout & Gradient Fill of Visio Shapes using .NET
