Chuck Berry

Everyone has done a cover of “Johnny B. Goode”, who do you think makes a great cover of this song?

For any of us who love Rock and Roll, then you know that Chuck Berry is the Father of Rock and Roll.  That iconic guitar riff still rings true in many of the rock bands that have played and are still playing.  Johnny B. Goode is the song that all other rock songs borrow from.  If not borrowed then it has been covered by hundreds of bands throughout rock history.  Just recently I played a cover of the song by Judas Priest, which I remember playing over and over again as a teen.  The song has been a staple in films, most notably “Back To The Future”.  When learning to play the guitar, you will learn this guitar riff and as soon as you learn it, playing guitar becomes more clear.

This is a perfect example of a Chuck Berry record that includes some of his great hits.

Julia Jacklin - Pre Pleasure (Polyvinyl, 2022)

Jacklin, a marvelous singer-songwriter from Australia, is a romantic at heart and I could see Bowie connecting with that. She also shows off a sleeker side in I Was Neon, which may be my favorite song from the album. So, I can hear them collaborating on something sleek and romantic with wonderful results!
