I HAVE AN AO3! You can find All my moon knight series and more there if you prefer. LINK.
The “What we are” series. I wanted to explore more of the boys getting to know one another. How they learned to get along and truly function.
What we see: Steven can’t forget the events of Cairo. More importantly he can’t forget the blackouts. Marc and Steven look for the mysterious third who wants nothing more than to keep working from the shadows. Also contains Layla helping her trash boys out.
Part one here. //  Part two here. //  Part three here. // Part four here.        // Part five here. // Part six here.
What we do: Marc, Steven, and Jake are learning to live together. Old habits are hard to break and old lies are even harder to remove. Jake struggles to find his place.
Part one Here. // Part Two Here. // Part Three Here. // Part Four Here. // Part Five Here. // Part Six Here.
What we Believe: The discovery that Khonshu is back hits hard for a system that is still trying to learn to trust one another, let alone live with one another. Some old wounds get ripped open and Trust is a word filled with pain.
Part one Here. // Part two Here. // Part three Here. // Part four Here. // Part five Here. // Part six Here.
“Moon Phase” Series! A series of small fic-lets in which I explore simple moments of the Moon Knight System.
Each chapter is not really connected so if you pick one up randomly you should be fine. Mostly feel good, maybe a little sad, maybe a little comfort. I wanted to explore little moments of them just being.
New Moon Here. // Waxing Crescent Here. // First Quarter Here. // Waxing Gibbous Here. // Full Moon Here. // Waning Gibbous Here. // Third Quarter Here. // Waning Crescent Here // Blue Moon Here. //
“Can’t fight a fever like that“ A one shot. The system has a fever and struggles to deal with it in their own ways. Sick comfort/care fic. HERE.
Moon Knight October Challenge! A series of one shots with prompts. Please read these, I’m really proud of them. They’re short.
      Goldfish // Gators // Cupcake // Scarab // Museum // Steak // Mirror // Layla // Knight // Scales // Professor // Moon // Suit // Night // Avatar and Taweret // Tomb // Reeds //
Complications and Solutions: Layla had been giving the boys some personal space after Jake was discovered. She had hoped that they would have time to sort out some of the more complicated aspects of learning to share head-space with someone. Now that they have had a little time to sort out some of the more urgently complicated details, Layla decides it is her turn to meet Jake. Things don't go as well as she hoped. Who knew that relationships could get so complicated? Taking place a few months after Cairo and about a month after Jake has made himself known.
          Chapter One // Chapter Two // Chapter Three // Chapter Four // Chapter Five // Chapter 6 // Chapter 7 // Chapter 8 // Chapter 9
What It Feels Like: No one said it would be easy to be in a relationship with Marc/Jake/Steven. Does Layla have regrets? How does she cope when her relationships struggle with their mental health? Heavily introspective moments from Layla's POV. Discussions on D.I.D, brief discussion on Autistic issues, and mentions of PTSD.
Front Stuck: Steven plans for a check up. Jake and Marc have issues with these plans. Sometimes you have to do what you don't want to do and then have to deal with it later. Sometimes you feel like all you do is fuck up and you just need a reminder of how useful you are.
Making Space:  What was it like when the system was new and young? Three souls circling one another and trying to make sense of the world around them.
Nothing and Everything: Certain times of the year are harder than others. This is the first year where they have all been present to face the memories of all the trauma. How can they come together when they each have their own traumas to face?
Chapter One // Chapter Two // Chapter Three // Chapter Four // Chapter Five // Chapter Six // Chapter Seven // Chapter Eight // Chapter Nine
Moon’s Light:  The first night of Hanukkah. After everything they've been through, the hardest war has always been of the past. Lighting a candle shouldn’t be this hard. A very short gen fic for Comics Moon Knight universe.
Introspection:  Moon Knight Comic universe. A study of the Interpersonal relationships between Marc, Jake, Steven, Mr. Knight, and Moon Knight. They don't always get along. Sometimes they have no choice but to hold things together while one of them seems determined to take them apart.
A Safe Place: Jake has one happy place. His pride and joy and comfort. When things go south, this is what he turns to.Marc has started to rely on Jake to be his solid force. The unshakable rock that keeps them all stable.Steven knows better. They are all delicately balanced on a thin wire. What happens when one of them takes a spill?

Martin Li is an illegal Chinese immigrant from Fujian province who attempted to travel to America to be with his wife. His mode of transportation, the Golden Mountain, was a slave ship operated by the Snakehead gang as a way to sell Fujian captives as overseas slaves in Kenya. During a storm, the ship's crew evacuated, leaving the captives alone to make a break for the New York shores. Li was the only survivor and spent the following years building a large fortune and dedicating himself to helping those less fortunate.[1]
The story is later revealed to be somewhat false, though only the Mister Negative persona appears aware of it. It is revealed that Mister Negative was actually one of the crew members of the Golden Mountain. When the ship nearly crashed onto the New York shores, he stole the identity of one of the deceased Fujian slaves (the real Martin Li) who was heading to America for the aforementioned reasons. This gang member was eventually captured by the Maggia Don Silvermane and experimented on with a synthetic drug created by Maggia chemist Simon Marshall that could be more potent than heroin. He escaped with the help of two other experimental inmates and soon developed two personalities, the kind-hearted Martin Li and the villainous Mister Negative, the latter of the two developing the ability to generate a black electrical energy that could be used to heal, control others, or charge objects with his touch. The Mister Negative side dedicated himself to becoming Chinatown's Kingpin of Crime while the Martin Li side attempts to run the F.E.A.S.T. center with humility.[2]
Martin Li operates a soup kitchen in Chinatown, the F.E.A.S.T. Project (Food, Emergency Aid, Shelter and Training), where Peter Parker's Aunt May volunteers.[3] Neither Peter nor May are aware of Li's dual identity as a Chinatown crime boss under the Mister Negative name.[4] Despite being a crime lord, Li is a seemingly kind and generous man. The F.E.A.S.T. Project has displayed healing powers for people of various illnesses, although the cause of this healing has yet to be revealed.[volume & issue needed]
During the first story of "Brand New Day" storyline, Mister Negative first comes into conflict with Spider-Man when he makes a power play toward taking control of New York's criminal underworld by attempting to wipe out all existing members of the Karnelli and Maggia crime families using a DNA specific bioweapon called the "Devil's Breath". In exchange for leaving the Maggia families' children alive, he takes a sample of Spider-Man's blood to use in a Devil's Breath formula.[3][4][5] Mister Negative later tries to use the Devil's Breath formula to kill Spider-Man during a fight with the Maggia, but Spider-Man is able to hold his breath long enough to escape alive.[6] Spider-Man then recruits the Black Cat to help steal Spider-Man's remaining blood from Mister Negative and replace it with a vial of pig blood so Mister Negative is unaware of his loss.[7]
Martin Li endorses Bill Hollister for mayor of New York City, putting him against Randall Crowne, adding him to a list of opponents (many of whom become targets of the villain Menace). It also causes him to become the target of a smear campaign by Dexter Bennet, editor of The DB and supporter of Crowne.[8] After Menace is revealed to be Hollister's daughter and Hollister resigns as mayor, Li unsuccessfully runs in a special election, losing to J. Jonah Jameson.[9]
Mister Negative later recruits Hammerhead and offers to put the man's brain in a new robotic adamantium skeleton after having been shot point blank in the head by Underworld. Hammerhead agrees to that and Mister Negative has his surgeon Doctor Tramma perform the procedure.[10]
Mister Negative eventually comes across Eddie Brock, giving a job at his soup kitchen. A touch from him causes Brock's cancerous cells to completely disappear. Also, remnants of the Venom Symbiote fused with Brock's white blood cells react with Mister Negative's power, causing Anti-Venom's existence during a conflict with Mac Gargan, the Venom Symbiote's host.[11] After the F.E.A.S.T center is torn apart during the fight between the two, Li discovers from a group of sweatshop workers (from a shop owned by Crowne) that they were experimented on with drugs from Oscorp.[12] Later, Mister Negative and his Inner Demons encounter and battle Anti-Venom. In the aftermath, Brock watches Mister Negative turn into Li, becoming the first to be aware of his dual identity.[13]
During the 2008–2009 "Dark Reign" storyline, Mister Negative refuses to submit to the Hood's rule of conquest of New York's criminal underworld. During a meeting with Hood's henchman White Dragon, Mister Negative corrupts White Dragon and sends the man to attack Hood's headquarters. In retaliation, Hood decides to attack and kill him. H.A.M.M.E.R. seals Chinatown on Hood's behalf and an all out brawl erupts around Li's estate. Hood's gang gets the upper hand until Spider-Man arrives to rescue Martin. However, Spider-Man too is corrupted and sent into battle on Mister Negative's behalf.[1] Spider-Man attacks and pummels the members of Hood's gang who are attacking the villain's headquarters and Mister Negative then sends the web-slinger to kill Betty Brant who is interviewing the real Martin Li's widow and is coming close to the truth. The Hood himself then confronts Mister Negative at his Chinatown headquarters and battles him.[14] During the battle, Mister Negative tries to corrupt Hood but fails. Norman Osborn ends the blockade H.A.M.M.E.R. has on Chinatown when Hammerhead hands papers implicating Oscorp in the aforementioned drug tests on immigrants. An irate Hood decides to kill Mister Negative anyway but he escapes. A later conversation that Osborn has with his own darker Green Goblin side reveals that he now has an alliance with Mister Negative similar to the one with Hood. However, Spot slips in and steals back the evidence of Oscorp's tests, revealing being Mister Negative's mole in the Hood's gang under the promise that he will be cured once they get their revenge on the Maggia.[2]
In the X-Men storyline "Serve and Protect", Mister Negative and his Inner Demons are at San Francisco on attempting to murder a widowed woman who still have a child. When two unidentified heroes, then revealed to be the X-Men Rockslide and Anole in disguise, Mister Negative hired The Serpents, and devise a plan to lure them into their traps, then turning then into his pawn into attacking other X-Men as well. Although his plan foiled by Anole's strategy into using a temporary brainwashed Rockslide, Mister Negative releases the rock mutant hero and vow they will meet again on the other side.[15]
During the 2009 storyline "The Gauntlet", Mister Negative corrupts May Parker when the woman walks in on him punishing an Inner Demon.[16] May manages to break free from Mister Negative's corruption when Peter went to May for moral support after the Lizard devoured Billy Connors and essentially 'killed' Curt Connors.[17]
During the 2010 "Shadowland" storyline, Mister Negative takes the advantage of the conflict against the Hand in a plot to set up a criminal establishment there, only for him and his Inner Demons to run afoul of Spider-Man and Shang-Chi.[18]
Mister Negative later has an encounter with Jackpot and Boomerang.[19] During the "Origin of the Species" storyline, Mister Negative was among the supervillains assembled by Doctor Octopus to secure some items.[20]
During the "Big Time" storyline, Mister Negative is targeted by both Anti-Venom and the new Wraith. When they, along with Spider-Man, interrupt a heroin-smuggling operation, Wraith uses visual recognition software, linked to every television broadcast in New York, to publicly out Mister Negative as Martin Li. When the police approach, Mister Negative and his men retreat. Li is later seen locked in a room by Mister Negative's men who wait for him to change back into their master.[21]
During the 2011 "Spider-Island" storyline, Mister Negative is told of a prophecy that he is destined to be killed by Dagger.[22]
During the 2012 "Avengers vs. X-Men" storyline, Mister Negative and his henchmen invade a S.H.I.E.L.D. facility as a way of taking an advantage of the war between the Avengers and the Phoenix Five, but Hawkeye and Spider-Woman defeat them while having a discussion about their relationship. It is later revealed that they were informed about Mister Negative's plan by Madame Hydra who wanted to get rid of the competition.[23]
During the 2014 "Original Sin" storyline, Mister Negative is seen meeting with the self-proclaimed Goblin King (Phil Urich) who is now leading the Goblin Underground's remnants when it came to them awaiting for Eel II to help divide the criminal underground following the original Goblin King's defeat. Their meeting is crashed by Black Cat and Electro who demand their share of the plan. When Mister Negative and Urich refuse to listen to Black Cat, the woman reminds them that they were all outed by Spider-Man and will succeed in the goal of defeating Spider-Man.[24]
Following the 2015 "Secret Wars" storyline, Martin Li is arrested at some point. He is rescued by Cloak and Dagger who have been corrupted by his touch and are using patches of the drug known as "Shade" to stimulate the effects of Mister Negative's touch and "remain" loyal to him. After the two break Mister Negative out of the prison ship where Li is being held and revert him to his Negative form, he leads an assault on Parker Industries' Japan branch, which leads to a confrontation with Spider-Man, whom Negative manages to touch.[25] Although Peter exhibits an immunity to Negative's corruption power, Negative escapes to his Hong Kong headquarters and reverts to Li. Li later sees a video message from Negative that he is targeting a philanthropist named Shen Quinghao, the former leader of the criminal Snakehead Syndicate which controlled the slave ship where Li became Mister Negative, and makes a proposal to Li, which Li accepts.[26] His plan fails, and after Cloak and Dagger are eventually are freed from Negative's control, they vow to remain in Hong Kong to protect it from Negative's future efforts.[27]
During the "Sins Rising" arc, a revived Sin-Eater steals the powers of Mister Negative and uses it to corrupt the guards at Ravencroft when he targets Norman Osborn. He also uses the powers to corrupt the clone of Ashley Kafka into releasing Juggernaut.[28]
A man claiming to be "Martin Li" shows up at the FEAST building seeking help as the Inner Demons attack.[29] This "Martin Li" later surrenders to the Inner Demons. Mister Negative meets with Mayor Wilson Fisk and informs him that they will need the sister counterpart of the Tablet of Life and Destiny called the Tablet of Death and Entropy. As Mister Negative has the item, he states to Mayor Fisk that their desired function can only be used when both items are together. Mayor Fisk allows Mister Negative to control Chinatown and the Lower East Side. Obtaining the Tablet of Life and Destiny from Spider-Man and Boomerang puts Mister Negative in competion with Black Mariah, a Crime Master, Diamondback, Hammerhead, Madame Masque, Owl, Silvermane, and Tombstone.[

Act 2: The SEAL Teams Chapter 11: The Teams
After college I pretty much just joined the Navy. I had a job in Washington DC working for the Navy as a logistics analyst. I beltway bandit contractor at age 22, not a good way to start. One of the guys in the office was a retired SEAL from Viet Nam era. He would tell me stories over our lunchtime beers at the Crystal City Restaurant; a go-go bar that served really good burgers. These were the days when a beer at lunch and supporting a single mom was the norm. I really enjoyed the stories about the SEALs; so I joined the Navy.
After twenty years I built up quite a few accolades and stories myself.
The following is directly from my biography from the SEALs. My full name and gender are still that of my SEAL “man” days. I now prefer to be addressed as female and with feminine pronouns just as any woman would. One of the issues that commonly comes up is proper pronoun usage when addressing a person who has “transitioned.” The easy answer is use the pronoun that fits the persons’ attire. If the person is dressed very neutral, use neutral pronouns or ask the person what they prefer. There is a growing number of people who like the non-gender use of “Ze” and “Them” instead of a Mr. or Ms. or his and her. Talk of pronouns and confusion about all of this will be covered later... hang on to your seats, the SEAL Team stories are starting.
Note: “Tear Line” is a break in text that someone could separate out between classified and unclassified; it is commonly used by the Agency (you know, those guys). I like it, as this was a portion in my life that is separate and can and does stand-alone now.
Here is my SEAL bio in black and white and mostly unedited:
-----------TEAR LINE-----------
!
Christopher Todd Beck, USN SEAL(ret) xxx-xx-xxxx, TS/SCI
Senior Chief Petty Officer (SCPO) Christopher Beck has distinguished himself in 20 years of exceptionally meritorious service with Special Operations Forces.
Senior Chief Beck was a cadet at the Virginia Military Institute from 1984-1987, majoring in Electrical Engineering; he then graduated from Alfred University in 1989 with a BA in Political Science.
After the US responded to Iraq’s invasion of Kuwait in 1990, he enlisted in the Navy and went directly to SEAL Training, Basic Underwater Demolition (BUD/S Class 179). He graduated number two in his class of 58 officers and enlisted, narrowly missing the coveted “Honor Man” title, which was awarded to an outstanding Naval Academy graduate.
!
SCPO Beck’s initial SEAL tour was with SEAL Team One from 1992-1999 where he completed 7 SEAL Platoon deployments, including two combat tours. He was recognized with one Army, and 4 Navy Achievement Medals for his operational innovations and his tactical prowess as a Special Operator.
!
In 1999, SCPO Beck was then selected to join the SEAL two- star headquarters, Naval Special Warfare Command (WARCOM), to assist in the development of an automated mission planning system (SWAMPS). This effort was at a standstill as a result of poor contractor performance and lack of vision. Senior Chief Beck created completely new system architecture and wrote its source code in his spare time, which then became the Special Operations standard and is still in use to this day.
!
SCPO Beck was deployed to the Pacific and Indian Ocean with SEAL Team Five in 2002, in support of the Global War on Terror. During this deployment, using his skills as a Navy Quartermaster, he developed a novel method for precise small boat navigation which
enabled long range VBSS(Visit Board Search and Seizure) missions. He combined WWII maneuvering board techniques, GPS, and vectoring from P3 aircraft, to create new tactical capabilities. SEALs now routinely drop rubber boats in mid-ocean for long range intercepts using SCPO Beck’s techniques.
!
He deployed again in 2003 to Kuwait and conducted special operations with small UAVs in the opening phase of Operation “Iraqi Freedom”. He conducted multiple clandestine with various agencies beyond the forward edge of the battlefield. SCPO Beck was awarded the Navy Commendation Medal with Combat “V” for his efforts with American and British forces in Basrah, Iraq.
!
In 2005 Senior Chief Beck was board selected to transfer to Naval Special Warfare Development Group (DEVGRU) to head the UAV Department and Special Reconnaissance unit. Senior Chief Beck was the primary Subject Matter Expert in the Pathfinder UAV technology demonstration and he was instrumental in development of the NEPTUNE Maritime UAV and the Medium sized SENTRY UAV platform, still in use today.
He was then selected to be the Tactical Surveillance Department head, leading the entire overseas surveillance and field R&D effort for his Special Operations Component Command. He directed $16M of procurement and over $300M in R&D efforts in this period.
!
SCPO Beck worked with key senior leaders and executives from the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) and other agencies on the Hostile Forces Tagging Tracking and Locating (HFTTL) assessments. His operational inputs and technical expertise became the foundation for OSD’s HFTTL development strategy. Over the next five years the HFTTL initiative became a $600M OSD program in 2006. SCPO Beck received the Defense Meritorious Service Medal for his accomplishments while at DEVGRU.
!
In 2008 SCPO Beck received a special assignment to the Joint Task Force in Afghanistan, and became a primary HUMINT source handler for operations along the northeastern Afghan border. He conducted over 200 clandestine source operations and led sniper and ladder teams on over 20 high-risk missions—He was the Ground Force Commander and primary entry team leader on various “High Value Target” captures.
He was wounded in a rocket attack during this tour, but was patched up and continued the mission. He received the Bronze Star with combat “V” in these operations.
In 2009, SCPO Beck was requested by name to become the Senior Enlisted Advisor to USSOCOM’s Science Advisor and the S&T Directorate. He has been intimately engaged in all of the key technologies and advanced development efforts at the command. His efforts are critical to providing cutting edge technologies to SOF personnel in support of Special Operations Forces Worldwide.
While at SOCOM, Senior Chief Beck led the development of rapid innovation and prototyping shops now called the Mobile Technology and Repair Complex (MTRC).
The MTRC was a bottoms-up technical capability initiated without formal requirements, propelled by the efforts of SCPO Beck and several senior Non-Commissioned Officers. From initial inception to deployment, Senior Chief Beck was at the helm designing, fabricating, training and contracting all assets of the MTRC.
The MTRC deployed to Afghanistan, and is now forward creating tactical advantages and new mission capabilities daily for SOF units.
---
In 2010, SCPO Beck was named in Congressional testimony by the Honorable Zachary Lemnios, Director Defense Research and Engineering:
“...One of SOCOM s most interesting concepts is a deployed
rapid prototyping capability, which allows design, fabrication, modification, and testing of components and systems in the field. The first capability in terms of personnel and equipment is currently in Afghanistan, ...This will enable operators to repair and upgrade deployed systems in hours and days, vice weeks and months. The importance of this connection between the warfighters and the S&T enterprise cannot be understated; in fact, I intend to grow and strengthen these connections....”
---
On assignment to assist OSD experts, SCPO Beck co-authored a far-reaching study on the hydrology of the Helmand Province. He then personally developed a technical solution to counter the dwindling water tables in the area, which may lead to new indigenous micro-industry, helping to improve infrastructure in rural Afghan villages.
While in Afghanistan he also wrote a plan for a joint field technology laboratory. SCPO Beck identified communities of interest, established user needs and coordinated details of land use. This “Tech Village” concept has now received the support of OSD’s Rapid Fielding Office and US ARMY R&D command (RDECOM).
At SOCOM SCPO Beck has been an invaluable asset to SOF headquarters staff, components, and deployed SOF units in theater. His outstanding managerial skills and leadership have been responsible for many of the recent successes in SOCOM S&T Directorate.
He personally briefed senior OSD civilians on numerous occasions on key technologies and operational impacts. Prepared USSOCOM position papers on SOF-unique munitions for State Department and White House approvals. As a result of his outstanding achievements, technical innovations and positive impacts in the SOF community, SCPO Beck received the NDIA 2010 Special Operations Achievement Award.
---
Director Defense Research and Engineering, Mr. Lemnios’ testimony is perhaps the best summary of Senior Chief Beck’s impacts on the SOF community:
“Chris is a remarkable individual and has spent most of his 20 years of service as a Navy SEAL operator forward deployed, most recently in Afghanistan. He brings a wealth of knowledge to both the S&T and the acquisition efforts. Chris bridges the gap between the capability providers and the operators and ensures systems are relevant to the current fight and operate properly in the most challenging environments.”
---
Mr. William Shepherd, the first commander of the International Space Station(ISS) states, “He is an inspirational leader, a proven warrior, and a patriot. In his final active duty assignment, SCPO Beck’s volume of technical insights and innovative contributions have been unequalled, in this command, by civilian or military personnel of any rank.”

How did I get here? How did I earn all of this and do all of those missions? Was I driven extra duty because of my gender issues? How did I hide myself in this masculine environment? There are many questions of which I can only tell you my story and hopefully some of the answers will fall out.
OoO
I grew up with this gender issue held inside most of the time. It was still there and would not relinquish its hold on me. I joined the Navy in 1990 in response to Desert Shield; it was the right thing to do, and that is what my family did in every war prior.
I finished top of the SEAL training class. I was driven by such a deep-seated guilt and need to be one of the guys that I went overboard in every way. I thought to myself that I was hiding my inner self by building bigger and thicker armor around me. I was burying the female under layers and layers of maleness. I got deeper and deeper. I was in deep cover and may never come out. I was lost.
During training, I remember we had these Singaporean SEALs who were in training with us. They were not overly excited about being there and were in the middle of the pack, at best, as far as ability and motivation.
Any foreign student in SEAL training was going to make it. They were not allowed to quit or fail. The instructors would carry them or let them pass just to keep them in the training to graduate.
You might ask yourself, Why does every foreigner get to pass? Back in the old days there was a student from a Middle Eastern country; he was a prince or something. He failed out of SEAL training, and upon return to his country, he was beheaded. So the rule is “foreigners pass and get to keep their heads.”
So these Singaporeans were just floating to get to the end. They were in my boat that we paddled every day. I remember being so mad at them that I would hit them in the life jackets with my boat paddle to get them to paddle harder, so we did not fail. If our boat failed, then I was gone, and they still got to float-by and graduate. This was bullshit in my book, and I was not going to fail. I drove myself and everyone else to finish. Yeah, I was wrapped pretty tight. Note to self: be careful in Singapore around the SEALs.
After the basic SEAL training was complete, I went on to SEAL Team One and deployed on multiple tours over and over. I had wanted to be gone, always busy and going a thousand miles an hour and go out in a blaze of glory or something. I don’t know. I was happy in the SEALs; it was great work.
I went on to other SEAL Teams and finally ended up in the top SEAL team in the US Military; the Team that did the missions handed down from the President. I was on missions in the middle-east growing my beard out to almost my belt line; in these countries, if you don’t have a beard then “You are not a man.” Again, doing many missions, way more
missions than anyone should do. I would volunteer whenever it came up, far exceeding what any rational person would consider their duty. I wanted out, and what better way to go out than defending freedom and all that stuff.
It wasn’t like I had a death wish; I didn’t want to kill myself on every mission. You can’t! Too many people rely on you. I worked hard and I would lean out pretty far and jump out front if the need arose. But you can’t have a death wish in the SEALs, they count on you. We are a small unit, and everyone is totally necessary for every part of the mission. You could lean out a ways and volunteer for extra tours, but you could never put your teammates in danger by being reckless and having a death wish. That psychologist that wrote a book had that totally wrong and was speaking from her own head.
I volunteered a lot and didn’t mind leading way out front it was where I became comfortable, more comfortable in combat than I was at home with my family. This comfort in the battle zone and my gender issues caused some heavy drinking and depression when I was stateside, which then all added up to a divorce from my wife of nine years.
I still dressed up in private but rarely when I was working in the SEALs; it just looked and felt funny with a huge beard wearing a dress and heels, but it always made me feel better on the inside even if it did look funny.
I was deployed to the border area of Afghanistan and Pakistan. None of us wanted to be there, Americans, the Russians, the British or anyone over the last thousand years, but this place seems to draw everyone in. No one needed to be there or wanted to be there, but there we were anyway, because it was our duty and we were ordered to be there. This and many wars are easy to debate when looking back, but while you are there you fight and do your best for you friends and ultimately for your country.
When politics and diplomacy fail, then the only tool left for them to use is sending a bunch of young guys to the meat grinder. We smash it out until someone gives in; this tactic dating back to caveman days, still ends in more hate and discontent, and the cycle gets repeated. Someday, maybe the politicians and diplomats will get it right and stop sending nineteen year old kids to die in the desert.
When it comes to defending liberty and a way of life, we will continue to volunteer for the meat grinder, just as I did in 1990. I fought the wars the politicians failed to curtail; I bled in the jungle, the sea and the desert for liberty and freedom or for the failed politics of fat men in suits. It makes me bitter to know that men have died because words have failed, and egos were bruised. I don’t know; maybe I will run for office and make sure that no other young men have to go into war? But then again, hindsight is 20/20, so maybe none of this is senseless. Who is John Galt would be a good question right now.
One of the ways I kept my sanity and escaped the situations that I found myself in, I turned to poetry. Looking back, I could see that I was screaming through my writing, “Look at me world, something is amiss.” At the time, it was a way to blow off some steam – a way out, if only for a moment.
OoO
One of my poems from the SEAL team days deployed in Afghanistan:
“Everyone Prays”
by Chris “Caveman” Beck June 2008 in border town in Afghanistan
!
I hear the rotors beating the air; I see the hydraulic fluid dripping and remember the old Master Chief saying, "If it’s not dripping, It ran out. Get ready to crash."
I smell the JP8 all around; I see the green glow of NVGs on the 18 guys sitting around me. The place we are going is hot. We expect a fight on landing or earlier.
Don't know if we are all coming home. We have to do this job; our country expects it of us; we are the only ones who can do it, and I volunteered.
The young guys sleep that nervous sleep, that sleep you force on yourself when the unknown overcomes your mind’s ability to grasp
anything else but fear, so they cover it up with sleep. Some of them just stare at the floor.
I'm the old guy, so I have to look at a map or mess with the radio and check last minute details with the pilots. I can’t show anything on my face but steadfast determination and positive vibes.
Fifteen minutes out from the LZ, pass the word, wake everyone, and check gear. A few guys do press checks; most of us have been hot for 3 months; the only time the round or a magazine changes is in anger.
You look around and see the green glow in all their young faces. Some of them bob up and down to memories of Metallica or Lynyrd Skynyrd; guess it depends where you grew up. In the end, we are all the same.
The green glows beat the air and get fired up; you gotta have the blood going fast, going from sitting down to a full out sprint off the back of the Helo into a hot LZ.
Five minutes is called.
The green glows slow down; I look around and smile; I'm doing the same thing.
My head is bowed, and I'm saying my prayer; the same prayer I say every night before we go out deaths door.
God guide me, be with me, make me brave in the face of my enemy, bless my guys all around me, bring us home. If I don't make it, take care of them, take care of my two sons back in Minnesota; give them the peace I never had. Thank You for the time I have had in this life.
I lift my head; some of the guys are still praying. It’s kinda one of those things; everyone prays before a firefight. One minute is called.
We are back to rock and roll. We start standing, checking gear, stomping feet and a few stretches, ready to go.
30 seconds is called, doing a hard bank then flair. We hit the ground, run out into the desert night.
Just another mission...
OoO
The military and what I did in Iraq and Afghanistan is another story, full of the good and the bad. Seven combat tours, thirteen deployments.
How about some stories from those days?

Reflective Piece
Using Gibbs 1988 reflective model, I will express my thoughts, progress and concerns that I experienced during this project. In order to accumulate this blog, I had to think of a clear issue that I could develop throughout the blog, which I found quite stressful. Out of the many gender inequality topics, my initial thought was to pick a topic that I could relate to, hence why I chose ‘exploring cultural gender inequalities between countries’.  The reason why I wanted to look at gender inequalities in different countries was because I went to a non-western country previously and saw some of the differences amongst females and males. Having seen this, I wanted to research further and explore the reasonings behind it. One aspect that I found quite challenging was thinking of topics for the three blog entries. Initially, I wanted to do my first blog on education, then on forced/child marriage and the last one on female genital mutilation. I came to the realisation that as these three topics were strong, this blogs ultimate focus would be unclear thus why I chose brand new topics. As I knew what my main focus was (lack of choices between countries), I began to research academic journal articles, newspaper articles and documentaries.
Before the creation of the blog, I was feeling quite overwhelmed and anxious due to the fact I’ve never written a blog before. I didn’t know in which way the blog was meant to be written, eg academic style or not as formal. As this became a huge worry for me, I met up with one of the tutors and expressed my concern and she explained to me what the blog must have in it. Whilst creating the blog, I had mixed feelings, from feeling satisfied as I found a topic, to very distressed during the research process and the time frame that was given. After writing the blogs, I am feeling relieved that it is done however at the same time worried to see whether I have met each criteria. One thing that I enjoyed whilst writing the blog was reading articles and seeing different viewpoints relating to my topic. As I am a female and woman of colour, it was eye opening to see the lack of choices females have in different countries.
However, the research process was frustrating as there was a lack of journal articles/sources that focussed on gender differences that females experience in non-western countries.   It was difficult to find specific journal articles and took a long amount of time to find it as I had to dig deeper. Aside from this, I found writing the structure of the blog quite confusing, however doing my research by looking at various other vlogs, I hope that I tackled this difficulty. I think planning my time and effectively sectioning how I would write/prepare for each section went well. I created a plan, for example I focussed on the outline for a couple of days and then the first entry and so on. This allowed me to manage my time but was far more relaxing as I was able to use my initiative effectively. The reason why the research process didn’t go well during the start was because due to the lack of perspectives on this situation, it was hard to search. As this process was difficult, I had to read a numerous of articles and use the bits that related to my blog the most hence why quite a few references were used. Overall, I enjoyed the experience of making a blog as it was something different to what I have done before and definitely made me more confident.

The Crooked Man & Others: “The Crooked Man”
Words: Mike Mignola | Art: Richard Corben | Colours: Dave Stewart | Letters: Clem Robins
Originally published by Dark Horse in Hellboy: The Crooked Man #1-3 | July-September 2008
Collected in Hellboy - Volume 10: The Crooked Man & Others | Hellboy Library Edition - Volume 4 | Hellboy: Complete Short Stories - Volume 1
Plot Summary:
In 1958, Hellboy travels to the Appalachian Mountains where he and Tom Farrell try to weather a storm of witches to bury Farrell’s father on consecrated grounds and beat the devil.
Reading Notes:
(Note: Pagination is solely in reference to the story itself and is not indicative of anything found within the issues or collections.)
Tumblr media
pg. 1 - I love that during this period of Hellboy stories, where Duncan Fegredo became Mignola’s stand-in for the tales set in the present, the main visuals for the past tales was Richard Corben. Corben is a master of horror and weird tales himself and the collaborations with Mignola, Dave Stewart, and Clem Robins on Hellboy legends were gorgeous. Here in the opening, he and Stewart wonderfully set the rich detail of the nature in this story.
Tumblr media
pg. 3 - It’s kind of interesting as to how simple the set up is to get Hellboy into the story. Just checking in on a poor girl who’s been hexed.
Tumblr media
pg. 5 - Tom Farrell is mostly a stand-in for Manly Wade Wellman’s character Silver John, a veteran with knowledge of the supernatural, albeit without lugging around a guitar. The little bits and pieces Mignola throws in of Hellboy’s past in passing conversation is nice.
pg. 6 - Chekhov’s church being set up here.
Tumblr media
pg. 7 - More witch balls confirms their suspicions. I think these ones are pretty interesting, looking more like sea urchins.
Tumblr media
pg. 9 - The empty skin sure is creepy.
Tumblr media
pg. 10 - I love the silence before Hellboy goes into asking Tom a question about his past.
Tumblr media
pg. 11 - Never trust the naked girl luring you to the devil. Never. Though, to be fair, it’s interesting the parallels to Eve’s temptation of Adam, if Adam were a lustful fifteen year old boy. Sometimes, I wish, though, that they didn’t necessarily trade off a woman’s sexuality as a taboo.
Tumblr media
pg. 13 - Corben’s design for the Crooked Man is amazing. Just creepy and frightening all in one. It’s also neat how Mignola weaves in some backstory for the area, building up the lore of the Appalachians by telling another tall tale within this narrative.
pg. 10-15 - I quite like how these flashbacks are presented. Other than the panels with the Crooked Man’s death, there’s really only a minor softening to the colours, but the indication of a flashback is through a simple rounding of the panel border’s corners.
Tumblr media
pg. 16 - This raccoon is adorable. Sure, I know it’s Cora Fisher as an animal crawling back into her vacant skin, but adorable little raccoon.
pg. 17 - The death of her husband and her kids does at least make her sympathetic.
Tumblr media
pg. 19 - Effie Kolb, on the other hand, just seems nasty.
Tumblr media
pg. 22 - The bridle turning Tom’s father into a horse is a pretty neat trick. Horrifying, yeah, and debilitating for Tom to see him that way, but it’s a kind of evil of these witches and the devil that you didn’t necessarily expect. A way to drive a needle into Tom’s side in an unexpected fashion.
pg. 23 - A good set up for the quest up the mountain, and Hellboy’s inclusion.
Tumblr media
pg. 24 - I like Tom’s intent on getting Cora free from her deal with the devil. These pretty much never work out, but it’s at least a nice sentiment.
Tumblr media
pg. 25 - Tom’s father as a burden that he must carry himself is representative of one of the themes that often appear in these kinds of Americana tales, in that you have to own your own foibles and face the consequences. Lest things turn worse for you.
Tumblr media
pg. 29 - This mixture of American folktale, history, and what I believe is largely Mignola’s own invention to give us another little side story is wonderful. It’s always impressive to see him embellish little details into the broader narrative. Also, Corben’s designs for these witches are terrifying.
pg. 30 - That they’re calling Cora by name just adds to the creep factor.
pg. 31 - That the passage of time seems to be affected by the presence of the devil and the evil that’s seeped into the land is interesting as well. That their presence could essentially fix darkness at noon is kind of neat.
Tumblr media
pg. 33 - There’s a bit here that you can’t outrun fate, that you still have to pay for the evil that you’ve done.
Tumblr media
pg. 35 - Hellboy versus these frogs and bugs makes my skin crawl, just showing how effective the storytelling is. Corben is a master at drawing these creepy crawlers.
Tumblr media
pg. 38 - That’s some nightmare fuel. The vision overall, reinforcing the idea that the devil can’t set foot in a church put forth in the first part of the story, again seems to foreshadow something that might occur.
pg. 39 - Clem Robins’ font for Effie’s laughter has a nice haunting effect.
Tumblr media
pg. 40 - Even with what they’ve faced so far, I love the feeling of dread that Corben and Stewart instill through the art, just through a simple moon shot.
Tumblr media
pg. 42 - This is at least a little comfort. Despite her death, Cora still escaped the clutches of the devil.
Tumblr media
pg. 44 - I think it’s interesting in a lot of horror and fantasy fiction that treats witches almost as though they’re a different class of being. That whatever it is that they become, they’re not quite human. At least, not any more. I suppose it could be a way to essentially other them, to make it all right when the heroes in the stories ultimately kill, burn, and/or destroy them utterly during the course of a story. Rather than thinking that someone can be redeemed of their wicked ways.
Tumblr media
pg. 45 - Two neat things here: first, Corben’s designs for the witches are nice. Love the variety and detail among them. Second, I like the question of faith and belief in regards to whether or not magic will or will not work.
pg. 47 - The Crooked Man come to collect his due is an amazing visual.
Tumblr media
pg. 48 - Wonderful little cut away on how to make a witch ball. This is both hilarious and frightening when you look at that cat closely.
Tumblr media
pg. 49 - Just as there’s the idea common in folklore that the devil always tells the truth, there’s a certain logic and fairness to what the Crooked Man is saying. A deal was made, services were rendered, and now he’s here to collect on his end of the bargain. It is ultimately weighted unfairly in his favour, given that the immortal soul is a real quantity in Hellboy, but there’s the idea that he’s not really wrong planted here.
Tumblr media
pg. 50 - The idea of a witch siege of a church is different.
pg. 52 - The witches essentially punking Hellboy is funny.
Tumblr media
pg. 53 - The reverend not taking any guff from the Crooked Man is one hell of a mood. Also, trying to bribe him in order to get Tom out of the church and off the consecrated ground is really a tell.
Tumblr media
pg. 55 - There’s a nice parallel to Job in the reverend’s temptation and acceptance of his tribulations.
Tumblr media
pg. 56 - Taking a different approach of raising the dead within the consecrated ground is something new. The Crooked Man and the witches can’t seem to cross, but their magic does seem to still be able to cause things to manifest and change. Which kind of makes you wonder why they don’t just whip up some kind of spell that whisks Tom off to their clutches. You get the impression that maybe he has to willingly give up.
pg. 57-60 - I like that through this we still get an almost standard Hellboy fight sequence. It’s weird with the raised corpses from the church graveyard, but it looks great.
Tumblr media
pg. 61 - Cute little young Hellboy. Also, the Crooked Man trying to get to Hellboy through his destiny is definitely going to wind up in a backlash.
Tumblr media
pg. 63 - Consecrating a holy shovel sure does beat all.
Tumblr media
pg. 65 - Defeating the devil with a shovel, that sure is something. I love how this panel of the strike basically just goes all white.
Tumblr media
pg. 67 - Gorgeous panels from Corben and Stewart. Also, time appears to be working again.
Tumblr media
pg. 68 - Interesting that despite fulfilling the quest of burying Tom’s father,  they realize that their job’s not done and they still have to really kill the Crooked Man.
Also, that Cora is still there is somewhat sad. You would hope that she’d have moved on.
pg. 69 - The appearance of a stately mansion in the middle of the Appalachians is weird. It just reinforces the idea that the Crooked Man, in life, lived one of opulence and extravagance.
Tumblr media
pg. 70 - And his “true” appearance, hoarding his gold, is both pathetic and creepy.
pg. 72 - A humorous and fitting end to Effie Kolb.

Final Thoughts:
In part it was due to giving a lot of lead time to Duncan Fegredo in order to wrap up the present-day Arthurian trilogy in The Storm and The Fury without too incredibly long breaks in between issues, but I quite liked the somewhat parallel approach to the final three volumes of the original Hellboy series and the Plague of Frogs narrative cycle for BPRD. Both features two volumes that focused on the past before diving into the grand finales.
As per his introductory statements to this story, Mike Mignola wears the influence of Manly Wade Wellman on his sleeve. Not just through the feel of the Silver John stories, but the overall feel of his down home weird Americana within the Appalachians. More so than similar stories from Nathaniel Hawthorne, Ambrose Bierce, and Robert E Howard, Wellman’s stories exhibited a kind of matter-of-factness that’s missing from the others. The supernatural and oddities in the world are almost accepted as a given, something as normal as the sun rising, which carries over well into Hellboy stories since Mignola has developed a similar aesthetic. So witches running around as raccoons and devils who appear as a dead, greedy landowner that used to cause problems for the area.

SO WHAT?
Though it is common knowledge that we need to “go green” and save the earth from pollution, people are still not taking the necessary steps to increase the health of our planet, and it is causing several detrimental effects. Therefore, the best place to start educating people about the importance of sustainability, is at places of education!
Tumblr media
Children and adolescents spend the majority of their time in school, thus meaning that by spreading awareness during class time, students will be able to apply the lessons they have learned for the rest of their lives. Not only is this beneficial for future generations, but it is necessary for this generation of students, since sustainability in schools has been proven to show an increase in test scores, problem-solving tactics, and overall community happiness (due to factors like decreases in obesity rates).
However, schools in low-income areas have trouble getting through the full process of green design integration due to lack of fund. Long term, though, education systems that highlight the importance of a healthy future, save money while decreasing the percentage of respiratory illnesses (such as asthma). After looking at the numerous benefits of sustainable schools, it is important to remember one thing: go green before our green goes.

Thus, future work should involve incorporating both approaches in a single prediction method, preference learning based on the feedback from forensic technicians and recommendation of assembled lineups instead of single candidates. The initial evaluation made by forensic technicians shows that although results favored visual descriptors over attribute-based similarity, both approaches are functional and highly diverse in terms of recommended objects. We propose and evaluate two complementary methods for item-based recommendation: one based on the visual descriptors of the deep neural network, the other based on the content-based attributes of persons. In this paper, we describe our work towards using recommender systems for the photo lineup assembling task. Although the process of assembling fair lineup is both highly important and time-consuming, only a handful of tools are available to simplify the task. that the suspect differs significantly from all other candidates. One of the key factors affecting the incorrect identification of a suspect is the lack of lineup fairness, i.e. Unfortunately, there are many cases where lineups have led to the conviction of an innocent suspect. This method is used to provide evidence in the prosecution and subsequent conviction of suspects. Photo lineups play a significant role in the eyewitness identification process.

Ross grew up in a military environment with both his father and paternal grandfather in the military.[4]
Ross is the Air Force general in charge of Bruce Banner's gamma bomb project. His daughter, Betty, takes a liking to the young scientist, deepening Ross' dislike for the "weakling". After Banner's transformation into the Hulk, Ross spends years chasing the monster, becoming obsessed enough to commit treason by allying himself with the Leader, MODOK, and the Abomination[5] to destroy the Hulk. Dismissed from the military, he shows up at Betty and Bruce's wedding with a gun and shoots Rick Jones. He is recruited by S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Clay Quartermain to merge with the electric creature Zzzax, a process that gives Ross superpowers but also makes him mentally unstable. He is later restored to human form but retains some residual energy-generating powers.[6]
Finally, the Nevermind, a mutant who drains people of their life energy, attacks Gamma Base in search of a strong host, in this case the Hulk. After witnessing Banner and Rick Jones (who was the Hulk at that time) heroically engaging the mutant, Ross realizes that he has been wrong about the Hulk being a mindless monster. He saves his daughter by allowing the mutant to latch on him and discharging the energy resources he retained from Zzzax. Giving his blessing to Bruce and Betty, he dies in his daughter's arms.[7]
Ross' body is later stolen by the Leader, who uses the powers of one of his followers to resurrect Ross. He turns him into a mindless replacement for his fallen soldier Redeemer. Ross is eventually recovered and revived by agents of the alien Troyjan and returns to the Air Force. He later comes up with a more cost-effective method of confronting the Hulk when he is in his childlike stage: active non-resistance. He and his men simply do not fire on or engage the Hulk in any way. The Hulk, confused, does not smash and leaps away.[volume & issue needed]
Ross would make friends with Banner, but when Betty is seemingly killed due to what both Ross and Banner believed to have been Banner's gamma-irradiated DNA interacting with hers, he once more pursues the Hulk with a vendetta.[volume & issue needed]
Around this time, General Ryker takes over the pursuit of the Hulk. Ross is indirectly involved, observing when Ryker mentally tortures Banner to try to figure out how the Hulk works. The Hulk escapes from Ryker's control and, after several adventures, is lost in space.[volume & issue needed]
After the Hulk returns from exile and initiates "World War Hulk", General Ross, now a full general, makes his own return, electing to bring the fight to his nemesis once more after the Hulk beats Iron Man. After a failed assault on the Hulk, Ross and his men are captured and placed in chains under the watch of Hulk's Warbound, the army he has brought back from space. The Hulk is eventually defeated via satellite weapons that revert him to human form.[8]
Military branchEdit
Ross' military affiliation has been inconsistently portrayed in the comics. Many early Hulk stories depicted Ross as an Army general trying to capture or destroy the Hulk with a U.S. Army battalion called the "Hulkbusters". However, he is also frequently seen in an Air Force uniform, as in his first appearance in Incredible Hulk #1. Stories about his service during World War II portray him as an Army officer in the U.S. Army Air Corps, as the Air Force was not a separate branch of the Armed Forces until September 18, 1947. In a November 2010 Q&A column, then-Marvel editor-in-chief Joe Quesada clarified that Ross is a member of the U.S. Air Force and that inconsistencies in his uniform can be explained via the artistic license with which artists attempt to present a more dramatic-looking uniform, and that Ross may be a part of a special unit of the U.S. Air Force, or the Marvel Universe's version of it, which has its own unique dress code.[9]
The Army continuity is also followed in various Hulk adaptations, such as in the 1966 and 1996–1998 cartoon versions of the Hulk, the 2003 Ang Lee movie Hulk in which he is portrayed by Sam Elliott, and in the 2008 movie The Incredible Hulk, in which he is portrayed by William Hurt. The Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe: Hulk 2004 issue officially indicates Ross to be a three-star lieutenant general in the U.S. Air Force.
Red HulkEdit
Red Hulk as seen on the cover of Hulk vol. 2 #1 (January 2008). Art by Ed McGuinness.
Red Hulk (also known as Rulk[10] or The IncREDible Hulk) was introduced in 2008 in Hulk #1.[11] The Red Hulk was created to be an uninhibited, tactically intelligent adversary to the Hulk.[12][13] Although Kenneth Johnson, the creator of the 1970s TV series The Incredible Hulk, had suggested a red Hulk for that adaptation decades earlier,[14] Marvel editor-in-chief Joe Quesada proposed the idea for the comics to debut a red version of the character whose human identity was a secret.[15] Initially, Red Hulk's identity was unknown both to the characters in the story[16] and to the reading audience.[17]
The opening story arc of the Hulk series that premiered in 2008 established that the Red Hulk is very aggressive, as he murders the Hulk adversaries Wendigo and Abomination; destroys the Helicarrier of the spy organization S.H.I.E.L.D.; defeats several Marvel heroes; and, after causing an earthquake in San Francisco, is finally defeated by the combined efforts of the Hulk and Thor. In a subsequent storyline, the Collector places the character with other villains on a team called the Offenders, an evil version of the Defenders, in a bid to prevent the original Hulk from reuniting with Jarella.[18] In that story Red Hulk siphons the Power Cosmic from the Silver Surfer, seemingly killing him, steals his board along with Terrax' cosmic axe, and uses the power to go on a killing spree, killing Namor, Tiger Shark, Dr. Strange, Baron Mordo, the Grandmaster, Terrax, a time-displaced Hulk, and Psycho Man. However, when Red Hulk reveals this to Galactus, Galactus swiftly takes back the Power Cosmic from him. Subsequently, almost everyone he killed is brought back to life with no memory of the event.[19]
The Red Hulk was created as part of a Super Soldier program by persons including Doc Samson,[20] and the criminal think tank Intelligencia,[21] headed by MODOK.[22] The 2009 "Code Red" story arc[16] also made allusions to Red Hulk's real identity, and introduced a Red She-Hulk character, when Domino identifies Red Hulk before his transformation.[23]
In the 2010 storyline "Fall of the Hulks: Gamma", Red Hulk is related in flashback to have killed General Ross at the behest of Bruce Banner, with whom he has formed an alliance.[24] However, the 2010 "World War Hulks" storyline reveals that Red Hulk is Thunderbolt Ross himself, the Red She-Hulk his daughter Betty, and that the Ross who was "killed" was a Life Model Decoy used to convince the world that he had died. Red Hulk then thwarts the Intelligencia's plan to take over the United States with a Life Model Decoy of Glenn Talbot by destroying the Talbot LMD and attempts to take over the country himself.[8] He is thwarted by a restored Hulk, who beats Red Hulk mostly due to Red Hulk's exhaustion from overheating. Hulk tells Red Hulk that it was his idea to fake Ross' death and that he can never again resume that identity. After imprisoning Red Hulk in the Gamma Base, Banner makes arrangements with Steve Rogers for Red Hulk to join the Avengers.[25][26]
After Steve Rogers recruits Red Hulk, Red Hulk manages to stop Intelligencia's failsafe plan "Scorched Earth". Although Banner had claimed that he removed Red Hulk's energy-draining ability from him because it was killing Red Hulk, Red Hulk is shown to still possess this ability.[27] After the events of the Scorched Earth program, Red Hulk is paired up with a Life Model Decoy named Annie. Red Hulk is occasionally assaulted by Ross' former protégé General Reginald Fortean, a scientist given superhuman mutations by MODOK named Zero/One, and the Indian serial killer Black Fog .[28]
Red Hulk plays a vital role in the Infinity Gem crisis of the "Heroic Age" storyline.[29] During the 2011 "Fear Itself" storyline, Red Hulk attempts unsuccessfully to stop the Thing (in the form of Angrir, Breaker of Souls) from destroying the Avengers Tower,[30] as MODOK Superior and Black Fog converge on both combatants during the fight. Angrir dispatches Red Hulk by knocking him out of the city and into Vermont.[31]
As part of the 2012 Marvel NOW! relaunch, Red Hulk leads a non-government sponsored version of the Thunderbolts.[3] This incarnation is a strike team that cleans up the messes left by Ross' military career, but the team later decides on a new arrangement in which the team will do one mission for Ross, then a mission for a random member.[citation needed]
After Hulk takes away the powers of Rick Jones, Skaar and Betty Ross, Ross starts monitoring Hulk's movements. This leads to a battle in which Doc Green subdues Red Hulk and injects him with a formula that reverts him to Ross. The Army is alerted to the confrontation. When they arrive, the Army arrests Ross for deserting his country.[32]
The 2016 "Civil War II" storyline reveals that Thunderbolt Ross is incarcerated in a classified military prison.[33]
In 2018's Free Comic Book Day Captain America issue indicates that Ross is no longer incarcerated.[34] Subsequently, in that year's Captain America #1, it is revealed that Ross was paroled for helping a resistance cell during the "Secret Empire" storyline and appointed head of the investigation into the attack.[35] However, he was later killed, and Captain America was framed for his murder.[

The computer held a month's worth of business accounts that hadn't been backed up, but, more importantly, treasured photos and videos of Sandra's late father. "Nobody else had those videos, so I couldn't replace them. It just really guts you."
Current views and thoughts on the issue
1. Online impersonation and identity theft are among the many types of cybercrime that are on the rise. But despite its rapid growth, our response to cybercrime is fragmented. This fragmentation often leaves victims struggling to know where to turn.
2. Netsafe believes that's a fraction of the real losses as people can be too embarrassed to report what's happened to them.
3. The risk is growing rapidly. "We're seeing serious cybercrime and cyber security breaches. And we've got these relatively small teams across a few agencies really struggling with the kind of volume that they're facing."
4. Even if victims find their way through the maze of organisations to access help, they rarely get justice.
5. Prosecutions of cybercrimes are rare, admits Detective Inspector Stu Mills, who manages police's intercept and technology operation. It's because it's tricky to track down cybercrime offenders, most of whom are based overseas. "It makes it more difficult to identify them and have sufficient evidence for the local authorities where they're based to take any of the investigative or prosecuting action."
6. The real issue is that victims don't report crimes, he says. "There's a huge amount of under-reporting here. It's something that jurisdictions around the real-world wrestle with. One of the big reasons it's hard to work out is because there's a lot of embarrassment associated with being a victim."
Data
1. (15/June/2021) The Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT NZ), which is the central government agency to which all cybercrimes and incidents should be reported, recorded a 25 percent rise in incidents in the past 12 months.
2. During 2020, when Covid-19 prompted people to work from home away from their higher workplace security, instances of malware - which includes ransomware attacks like the one Waikato DHB recently experienced - rose 2008 percent.
3. (15/June/2021) Overall, there has been a seven-fold increase in the number of cyber security incidents reported by businesses and individuals in the last three years, costing victims a whopping $53 million.
4. It saw a 22 percent decrease in personal harm reports, a 23 percent increase in scam reports, and a 16 percent decrease in objectionable material reports. However, the number of reported romance scams - in which victims are tricked into sending money to people they believe they are in an online relationship with - grew 39 percent last year. Romance scam victims lost on average more than $18,000 each.
5. The charity IDCARE, which helps up to 1000 victims of scams, data breaches, and identity theft a month, has seen about an 8 percent decrease in romance scams since 2018, but a 40 percent increase in people seeking help for identity theft in the first five months of this year. It has also seen a 38 percent increase in remote access scams since 2018. In these scams, offenders trick victims into giving them access to their devices, allowing them to obtain personal information. More than half of remote access scam victims have their online bank accounts accessed, with victims losing an average of $5000 each.

Current views and thoughts on the issue
Online criminal activity has led to feelings of anger, fear, and anxiety.
Data
1. Over a third of New Zealanders fell victim to cybercrime in the last year-2020.
2. Nearly 330 million people across 10 countries were victims of cybercrime and more than 55 million people were victims of identity theft.
3. Over the past year, 65% of people around the world report spending more time online than ever before as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
4. Cybercrime victims collectively spent nearly 2.7 billion hours trying to resolve their issues. In New Zealand, it is estimated cybercrime led to a collective loss of NZD$198 million.
5. Despite many New Zealanders (61%) saying they are taking more precautions online because they are concerned about cybercrime, over a third (36%) say they feel more vulnerable to cybercrime than they did before the COVID-19 pandemic began and close to half (47%) say they aren’t sure how to protect themselves from cybercrime.
6. Of the 1.3 million New Zealanders who experienced cybercrime in the past 12 months (35%, a 1 percentage point fall from 2019), victims spent an average of 3.7 hours trying to resolve the issues created, for an estimated nearly 5 million hours of New Zealanders’ time lost.
7. According to the report, nearly 130,000 New Zealanders experienced ID theft in the past 12 months, and more than 4 in 5 (84%) wish they had more information on what to do if their identity was stolen.
Many New Zealanders (51%), whether they have experienced identity theft or not, are very worried their identity will be stolen, but nearly 6 in 10 (59%) say they would have no idea what to do if it were.
8. 15% of New Zealanders fell victim to a scam in the past year.
Half of New Zealanders (50%) say they are more worried than ever about being the victim of a cybercrime.
Being online more than ever before, and remote working concern for New Zealanders. With many Kiwis (66%) spending more time online than ever before, it is no surprise that more than three-quarters (77%) believe that remote work has made it much easier for hackers and cybercriminals to take advantage of people.
New Zealanders are concerned about the authenticity of information they see online, with over half (56%) saying it is difficult for them to determine if the information they see online is from a credible source
More than half of Kiwis (53%) feel it’s impossible to protect their privacy, and a similar proportion (45%) say they don’t know how.
Three-quarters of New Zealanders (75%) accept certain risks to their online privacy to make their life more convenient, however, the majority (57%) report being more alarmed than ever about their privacy.
New Zealanders are taking password security seriously, with over half (57%) making passwords stronger to protect their online activities and personal information.
Many Kiwis are limiting information shared on social media. Over half of New Zealanders (51%) report limiting information shared on social media to protect their online activities and personal information.

Current views and thoughts on the issue
1. Various reasons. People don't report trivial crimes, so someone who lost $100 trying to buy hair regrowth pills online is probably just going to chalk it up to experience. Shame prevents people from reporting crime.
2. The internet and telephone are now the two biggest crime scenes after the family home. But the crimes taking place there go unreported, undetected, and uncounted.
3. The astounding thing about that is that fraud and cybercrime is the most common category of crime captured in the annual Crime and Victims Survey. The most common, but also most under-reported crime grouping, is fraud and cybercrime, according to the National Crime and Victims Survey.
Data
1. Out of every 100 people ripped off by cybercriminals, or people committing fraud, just 7 report it to authorities.
2. The people crunching the numbers on that very large survey estimate 342,000 adults were victims of fraud and/or cybercrime in the 12-month period before the survey was completed late last year.

Retrieved from: https://news.microsoft.com/en-nz/2018/10/16/new-zealand-tops-list-of-most-scammed-countries-microsoft-study/
Current views and thoughts on the issue
1. New Zealanders are the most likely people in the world to have experienced a tech support scam, according to a new study from Microsoft.
2. Young and male New Zealanders are especially susceptible to losing money from tech support scams, thanks to a tendency towards risky behavior and overconfidence in their technical abilities.
Data
Key Global Tech Support Scam Research takeaways:
New Zealand is the country with the highest level of exposure to tech support scams, followed by Mexico, South Africa, Australia, and India. Japan is the least exposed to these scams.
21% of Kiwis surveyed have been tricked into continuing with an interaction.
6% of those who continued have lost money directly to the scammers. Overall, 38% have incurred costs due to time and money spent investigating and addressing security concerns.
Millennials, Generation Z (those born after 1995) and males have the highest exposure to tech support scams, although Boomers show the highest levels of unsolicited calls.
Millennials are the most likely age group to lose money, with 64% of Kiwi Millennials engaging with tech support scams losing money, compared with just 11% of Generation Xers.
Men are significantly more likely to experience financial losses from tech support scams than women – 63% of Kiwi men vs. 35% of Kiwi women.
E. Report: Majority of New Zealanders exposed to cybercrime

Current views and thoughts on the issue
In fact, New Zealanders are among the most likely to rarely/never read privacy policies (56% vs. 47% global average).
Data
1. The NortonLifeLock Cyber Safety Insights Report found 1.2 million New Zealanders (36%) are estimated to have experienced cybercrime in 2019. On top of that, almost 5.4 million hours or an average of 4.3 hours per victim were spent resolving issues created by the crime.
2. Close to a third of New Zealand cybercrime victims (30%) were impacted financially with an estimated loss of NZ$108 million in the past year, the report found.
3. 50% of respondents to the research said they felt they are well-protected against ID theft occurring, however, two thirds (67%) said they would have no idea what to do if their identity were stolen, while and 85% wish they had more information on what to do if their identity were stolen.
4. Less than half of New Zealand consumers give credit to companies (40%) or the government (46%) for doing enough when it comes to data privacy and protection, the report says. And, almost half (46%) believe that New Zealand is behind most other countries when it comes to data privacy laws.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Reflecting points:
· Hackers can target anyone with any purpose. The victim can be an individual or a big company. The crime's purpose can be for money or for fun.
· The damage can be mentally or financially.
· Limited sources to get help or ways to deal with the issue.
· People don’t report the crimes due to shame, embarrassment, and loss of reputation.
· Cybercrime is a big issue but hard to track down because lots of cybercrimes are unreported.
· It’s hard to stop and track down cybercrime due to limited forces.
· Hard for victims to get justice and prosecutions of cybercrime are rare.
· The number of incidents is rising greatly due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
· Victims lose a lot of money and time.
· There is a wide range of cybercrime types.
· Cybercrime causes negatively complex feelings to victims.
· New Zealand people are most likely to be exposed to tech support scams
· Young kiwis and male New Zealanders are especially susceptible to tech support scams
-> The campaign is being created to motivate people to educate themselves about cyber security.

Printer driver isolation improves the reliability of the Windows print service, by enabling printer drivers to run in processes that are separate from the process in which the print spooler runs.
Support for printer driver isolation is implemented in Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2 and later operating systems.
For Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2, an inbox printer driver must support printer driver isolation and be able to run in an isolated process.
Previous versions of Windows
In previous versions of Windows, including Windows Server 2008, printer drivers always ran in the same process as the spooler. Printer driver components that ran in the spooler process included the following:
Print driver configuration modules
Print processors
Rendering modules
The failure of a single print driver component could cause the print subsystem to fail, halting print operations for all users and for all print components.
Ricoh Others Drivers
New versions of Windows
With Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2, an administrator can, as an option, configure a printer driver to run in an isolated process--a process that is separate from the spooler process. By isolating the driver, the administrator can prevent a fault in a driver component from halting the print service.
Tumblr media
For more information about the spooler functions, see Spooler Component Functions and Structures.
Driver isolation support in INF files
By default, if the INF file that installs a printer driver does not indicate that the driver supports driver isolation, the printer class installer configures the driver to run in the spooler process. However, if the INF file indicates that the driver supports driver isolation, the installer configures the driver to run in an isolated process. An administrator can override these configuration settings and specify, for each driver, whether to run the driver in the spooler process or in an isolated process.
To support driver isolation, the INF file that installs a printer driver can use the DriverIsolation keyword to indicate whether the driver supports printer driver isolation. Setting DriverIsolation=2 indicates that the driver supports driver isolation. Setting DriverIsolation=0 indicates that the driver does not support driver isolation. Omitting the DriverIsolation keyword from the INF file has the same effect as setting DriverIsolation=0.
Spooler functions for driver isolation settings
Tumblr media
The following table shows the spooler functions that an administrator can use to configure the driver-isolation settings.
Function nameOperationGetPrinterDataExGet the driver-isolation settings for a printer.SetPrinterDataExSet the driver-isolation settings for a printer.EnumPrinterDataExEnumerate driver-isolation settings for a printer.FindFirstPrinterChangeNotification FindNextPrinterChangeNotificationRequest notifications of changes to the driver-isolation settings for a printer.
The format for the data is as follows:
Driver in each group is separated by '
Each driver group is separated by '
The first group loads the driver into the spooler processes. Each subsequent group loads the drivers in isolated processes per group. The second group is considered the 'shared' group in which other isolation-capable drivers are loaded by default.
Configuring driver isolation mode through administration
A computer administrator can use the Windows Print Management console or call the Windows spooler functions to configure the driver-isolation settings for each printer driver installed on a computer. The administrator configures the driver to use one of the settings listed in the following table.
Driver-isolation modeMeaningSharedRun the driver in a process that is shared with other printer drivers but is separate from the spooler process.IsolatedRun the driver in a process that is separate from the spooler process and is not shared with other printer drivers.NoneRun the driver in the spooler process.
Ideally, a printer driver is able to run in shared mode. That is, it runs in an isolated process shared with other printer drivers but separate from the spooler process. A driver might need to run in isolated mode if it can run in a process separate from the spooler process, but has difficulty sharing the process with other drivers. For example, a poorly designed driver might have file names that conflict with those of related drivers or of different versions of the same driver, or the driver might fault frequently or have a memory leak that interferes with the operation of other drivers that run in the same process.
Ricoh Others Driver Job
To support troubleshooting, the domain administrator can disable the driver-isolation feature on a computer in the domain, or the administrator can force all of the printer drivers on the computer to run in isolated mode. In isolated mode, each driver must run in a process separate from the spooler and from the other printer drivers.
If driver isolation is disabled by group policy, the isolation is off for all printer drivers. If isolation is enabled, then the individual drivers are mode-checked. If a driver has isolation mode set, it runs in shared, isolated, or none mode, based on the registry entry. However, if the driver does not have isolation mode set and it is compatible with isolation, it runs in shared mode. If the driver is not compatible with the mode, the group policy override determines whether the driver runs in shared mode or none mode.
The following chart shows a decision map for choosing the driver isolation mode:
