So, this is a mainly fandom blog, but I wanted to say:
All the Americans voting today or turning in your ballots at poll boxes. Please be safe and thank you for your service.
To everyone who already voted, whether in person, dropping off a ballot, or by mail: Thank you for participating.
Be safe everyone.

You have 2 hours (or 2.5 depending on where you live) to get in line to vote still! Use your power for good.

I’m getting married in four weeks!!
It has been a long year, getting to this point.  My fiance proposed to me last year on my birthday (April 20, 2019), and I reached out to one of my parish priests immediately to get the process started on what we need to do to get married in the Catholic Church.
We have our last zoom meeting with him this month, mostly going over ceremony details and stuff.
Awhile back, I learned that he is Republican, which isn’t that shocking.  He’s of course anti-abortion and it’s really a very singular issue with him.  He realizes Trump is an asshole, but I think he feels that he doesn’t have a choice but to go along with tradition in his family, voting for the Republican ticket no matter how immoral and disgusting the candidate is.
My family and I, my fiance included, we’re Democrat.  My mom is also Catholic too, she was raised that way, against abortion but everything else about this president, she recognizes (along with my dad),  that there is NOTHING good or saintly about Trump.  Anyone who thinks otherwise, is fucking deluding themselves.
As a Catholic Democrat myself, I don’t understand being a one-issue voter, because there is so much more at stake than one issue this upcoming election.
I am honestly scared of what the hell will happen to this country is Trump gets another four years. Everything happening now, is just going to get worse. We might not even have a democracy in four years, but a dictatorship.
That’s why it’s so important, if you can vote, early as soon as you are able.  Don’t take your vote for granted.  This is no time to stand back and let whatever happen, happen.
Back to our priest, knowing that he is Republican but a lot more sane than most, it is something that I struggle with when I talk to him.  Knowing all the things that we know about Trump,  I don’t understand how all the shit he’s done can be ignored in favor of a singular issue?  Does character and decency really mean nothing at all?
To me, if you’re going to be pro-life, take it all the way; be anti-gun too.  Against the death penalty, going to war, and be an advocate for universal healthcare so everyone has healthcare they need to survive.  Also, wear a fucking mask to prevent the spread of the virus.

Voice of the Crowd! Actions of a Coward!
Voice of the Crowd! Actions of a Coward!
Tumblr media
When Pilate saw that he was getting nowhere, but that instead an uproar was starting, he took water and washed his hands in front of the crowd. “I am innocent of this man’s blood,” he said. “It is your responsibility!” Matthew 27:24
Sadly, in this passage, I saw another parallel to our modern experience. We find in this an innocent man (Jesus) who has been wrongfully accused, wrongfully…

Text "track" to Resistbot at 50409 to make sure your ballot was accepted, and for a guide on how to correct things if it wasn't. It only takes a few seconds to get some peace of mind and make sure you're counted!

Menachem Bluming Muses: You're Voting for Whom?!
It happened 2000 years ago. There was a plague that ravaged 24,000 disciples of Rabbi Akiva. The Talmud (Yevamot 62b) teaches us that the reason for it was a lack of decency amongst the students toward each other.
Commentators question how it is possible that Rabbi Akiva, who taught that love of a fellow is the foundation of the entire Torah, would have so many students who could possibly show such intolerance toward each other?
Their explanation is as relevant today as it was then. The students saw all of the future of Judaism dependent on interpretations and halachic decisions of the time. Because of that, they could not tolerate another person who had a different view because they believed that the other's view would veer Judaism off its path.
In G-d’s eyes this was appalling. Even when you believe the other person is wrong and even if you believe that the repercussions of their beliefs will derail Judaism for generations, you still must never lose the dignity and respect that you have for another.
Even if you believe that another’s vote will destroy this country and the Constitution and the future of our Union still the respect and the friendship that we have with each other must be sacrosanct.

Was on line with my family when my polling place opened at 6 am. We were all done by maybe before 6:30. * FYI - The coat I was wearing is just inches off the floor. That plus a face mask made it look like someone from "The Matrix" or "Assassin's Creed" came to vote in Bed-Stuy Brooklyn. #decision2020 #voting #voting2020 #BidenHarris2020 #voteblue2020 #votebluenomatterwho (at Bedford-Stuyvesant) https://www.instagram.com/p/CHINJ6lhew4/?igshid=4x6s9iyetm7x

Know your voting rights!!!
So I told one of my managers yesterday that I would be needing time of work this Tuesday to go and vote because I didn’t realize I was scheduled for a long shift and won’t be off before the polls close.
She then proceeds to ask me why I couldn’t early vote.
I tell her that I guess I could have but I didn’t and the option was now closed and my next and last chance is Tuesday.
Cue her giving me a hard time for not early voting.
I politely tell her that I didn’t so I’ll be requiring time off on Tuesday.
Her response?
“I mean we’ll try to get you out.”
Umm no.
I say - “Legally the law requires that you allow me time off work to go vote.”
Her response?
“Yes, I mean legally it does.”
Yes bitch, legally! As in the law! As in it is my right!
So whatever, I leave her office with a bad taste in my mouth and run into a coworker (who’s worked there as long as I’ve been alive), and I tell her about what happened.
She goes OFF, tells me I better make sure they let me go vote Tuesday and that if they try to fight me on it to tell them to look in their files for the law that she printed off for them years ago stating my right to do so.
So she leaves and I feel a bit better but just for shits and giggles I decide to look up the law for Tennessee voting rights (I knew it was a law that they have to let you off but I didn’t know the exact parameters.)
You know what Tennessee law says?
Up to three hours PAID time to go vote, (and my dumb ass was planning on clocking out.)
You best believe that if someone tries to argue with me Tuesday I’ll be slapping down a copy of that law and my ACLU membership card, I’m pretty sure they don’t want to be hearing from those lawyers.
