Next season I think they should just drop Sam Reid in a forest with 8 real wolves and have him figure it out, Lestat possession would kick right in and he'd be fine #trust

I think it's funny how in most media I consume I have a type of character I usually gravitate towards, usually the old (and possibly wise) wolf character if there is any. It all started with Nava and yeah it's been going since then.
So here's a compilation of all my fave lupine old guys I've collected throughout the years. My own pantheon, if you will.
L to R:
Top row: One-eye (White Fang), Ek'toph (Wolves of the Shadowlands), Morpheus (Ranger), Trevegg (The Wolf Chronicles)
Middle row: Cirrus (OC), Nava (Balto), Akela (Shonen Mowgli), Greely (Animal Jam)
Bottom row: Baltimoor (De 3 biggetjes), Thunder (The Howling Throne), The Wolf (The Dog Who Followed the Moon), Number Five (Neopets)

On one hand, Lestat one-upping Louis for attention by releasing his own book as well as songs/music videos/going on tour, is very in line with his character, being the ‘brat prince vampire’ as Marius so fondly calls him in QotD. But on the other hand, what if he was trying to protect Louis by redirecting some of the heat from other vampires so that he becomes more of a target by being the bigger bullseye?

Last Line
Rules: post the most recent line of your WIP and tag someone for every word in that line
Thanks for the tag @goneinsecondsxo :]
this is from the original work that's rotting my brain and it's more than one line but ya know, free will and all that
Later, Jaiden would wonder about the sanctity of Cade's intentions. He really seemed to care about Coop, but for what reason. Did he see him as a son, or did he see him as the monster they sought to create? Their one success story whose tragic life was treated as a resume. It wasn't a second chance, it was a different kind of prison. It wasn't salvation, it was a death sentence. Similar to the stray cats that Jaiden had seen in the cities of southern Europe. They were fed just enough to give them energy to manage the rodent problem. But they were treated as rodents just the same. Discarded and trashed. Diseased and mistreated. Jaiden thinks everyone at NNEST aren't so different from those cats. The only separation between the rodents and the cats is a job, and the job was pitting the cats against the rodents, and none of them ever had the sense to wonder what happens when the rat poison starts to work. What do you do with the cats then?  Jaiden couldn't help but wonder if Coop's ramblings were that of a mad man, or if they were just as Echo suggested, a grief stricken repeat of his old partner's words; his partner or cat who's tongue had loosened a bit too much?

louis is so fucking funny, during the 90s he was just repeatedly showing up to lestat’s house for movie nights with his little vhs tapes and dvds being like “hey lestat can we watch one of my two favorite movies that are romantic renditions of gothic fairytales about beautiful and vulnerable young women falling in love with monstrous yet tender and kind creatures again?” whore.

I'm sure that I'm not the first person to say this, but I really wouldn't mind a season of a show or a book in a series that is just characters living their lives. There isn't any world-shattering problem that the characters need to solve, no villain to fight, etc.
I think the best way to do this would be a sitcom or a book of short stories. Sitcom's are already insanely popular and it's usually just ordinary people dealing with everyday normal problems. Die-hard fans of book series with read any content related to their favorite characters. Also, imagine the character development! If characters are used to being in danger constantly, how will they handle ordinary life? How would it impact their relationships with the other characters?
So much potential!

Summaries under the cut
The Wolves Chronicles by Joan Aiken
Wicked wolves and a grim governess threaten Bonnie and her cousin Sylvia when Bonnie's parents leave Willoughby Chase for a sea voyage. Left in the care of the cruel Miss Slighcarp, the girls can hardly believe what is happening to their once happy home. The servants are dismissed, the furniture is sold, and Bonnie and Sylvia are sent to a prison-like orphan school. It seems as if the endless hours of drudgery will never cease.
With the help of Simon the gooseboy and his flock, they escape. But how will they ever get Willoughby Chase free from the clutches of the evil Miss Slighcarp?
Leven Thumps by Obert Skye
Fourteen-year-old Leven Thumps (a.k.a. "Lev") lives a wretched life in Burnt Culvert, Oklahoma. But his life is about to change and his destiny be fulfilled as he learns about a secret gateway that bridges two worlds -- the real world and Foo, a place created at the beginning of time in the folds of the mind that makes it possible for mankind to dream and hope, aspire and imagine. But Foo is in chaos, and three transplants from that dreamworld have been sent to retrieve Lev, who alone has the power to save Foo.
Enter Clover, a wisecracking, foot-high sidekick; Winter, a girl with a special power of her own; and Geth, the rightful heir to Foo. Their mission: to convince Lev that he has the power to save Foo. Can this unique band of travelers help Lev overcome his doubt? Will Lev find the gateway in time? Or will Sabine and his dark shadows find the gateway first and destroy mankind?

Revolting Rhymes by Roald Dahl
This book is filled with revolting rhymes. (Be warned: It's no ordinary Once upon a time).
There's poor Cindy whose heart was torn to shreds, because her Prince, he chops off heads!

And what becomes of Goldilocks, that nasty thieving little louse, when she goes sneaking around the three bear's house . . .
Loser by Jerry Spinelli
Just like other kids, Zinkoff rides his bike, hopes for snow days, and wants to be like his dad when he grows up. But Zinkoff also raises his hand with all the wrong answers, trips over his own feet, and falls down with laughter over a word like "Jabip."
Other kids have their own word to describe him, but Zinkoff is too busy to hear it. He doesn't know he's not like everyone else. And one winter night, Zinkoff's differences show that any name can someday become "hero."
Ghostgirl by Tonya Hurley
Now I lay me down to sleep,
I pray the Lord my soul to keep.
And if I should die before I awake,
I pray the popular attend my wake.
Charlotte Usher feels practically invisible at school, and then one day she really is invisible. Even worse: she's dead. And all because she choked on a gummy bear. But being dead doesn't stop Charlotte from wanting to be popular; it just makes her more creative about achieving her goal.

I know the TWC ending is very divisive but my hot take is that it's great.
Like yes, for our characters this is an absolute downer ending. Rock bottom levels.
Kaala dies, the wolves failed, the antagonists won, the streckwolves (proto-dogs) will carry on looking after the humans but inevitably this will lead to a lot of destruction of nature as humans need wolves to remind them of their place in this world.
And I think Hearst handled it in an ingenious way. It's a downer ending, but a well-written one. Not every story has to be neatly wrapped up with a bow and be a happily ever after.
Ultimately The Wolf Chronicles is a cautionary tale with environmentalist themes of what happens when humans lose touch with nature and keep trying to dominate and destroy it (as we're doing now).
And this ending perfectly conveys that point. That very brief epilogue of a child playing with their dog (descended from the streckwolves) while a lot of the world has gone to shit and only a few wolves remain? Chills. Kaala's death? Chills.
I know a lot of people hate this ending but I think it's a perfect ending for the message and themes the book was trying to convey, even if for our characters it's obviously a downer.
