was thinking about sam and bucky having the locket app and using it to send photos to update each other on their day :’)

it gets used a lot when sam’s busy with cap stuff and away on missions, they love the app cause it’s fast and easy bc they don’t always have time to facetime, so getting updates like this from each other is comforting

(if you don’t know what locket is it’s basically an app where you take a photo and send it to someone you have added on the app as a friend and it appears on their homescreen like this, it’s actually very fun, i use with my best friend who lives in canada)

Technology, grades 7+, Downloading and Transforming YouTube Videos

Do Now:

Open your YouTube history and look for music, podcasts and other content that you don't need videos for and would like to own an audio-only copy of.

Direct Instruction:

Show students how easy it is to download YouTube videos and convert them to MP3 files by copying the video's URL and pasting it into this website. When the file is downloaded, play it for them to show that it works, even when disconnected from the internet, then immediately delete it. What you have done was for Educational and research purposes. If you keep this video for your own private enjoyment, then you are breaking YouTube's Terms of Service and are technically breaking the law.

Talk your students through the first half of the 2024 article by Liam Curtist entitled YouTube Converters Explained: A Full Legal Breakdown. The second half is basically an ad for their video editor.

Guided Learning:

When the article gets to the following section, go into greater detail about what the following situations mean.

Educational and research purposes: A teacher downloading a YouTube clip to show in a classroom may qualify as Fair Use. For example, using a 30-second clip from a Kamala Harris speech to discuss public speaking techniques. Transformative content: If you're downloading a video to create something new, such as a parody, critique, or commentary, this could fall under Fair Use. For example, downloading a movie scene to create a reaction video where your commentary transforms the original content.

In particular, explain what transformative means in the context of media. Memes are transformative, for example, and therefore subject to Fair Use. Video and audio content can also be transformative if

Demonstrate to students how to use Kapwing's easy and free video editor* to create transformative content that does not violate YouTube's ToS.

Higher Order Learning:

Students work individually or in groups to use Kapwing's easy and free video editor* create their own transformative content, for educational and research purposes. This should be a lengthy project that requires a rubric of your own design. When complete, students may legally download their own video and keep it for themselves. You may** be able to host a few of them on the school's website.

*I did not take the time to understand how to use this video editor.

**Check with your school administrators well-in-advance of planning this activity. They may need to run it up the chain of command to ensure everyone is comfortable with the legally gray areas. If you don't want to get the school board involved, then maybe don't attempt this lesson.

“Do you go to the gym this early every day?” Regulus attempts not to sound too eager or hopeful, he’s pretty sure he fails if the knowing smirk James gives him is anything to go by.

“Yeah, I like to get my WOD out of the way first thing in the morning.” James says casually.  

Regulus can feel his face flush and his eye widen. “Your… your wo… your… your what?” He stammers.

James’ smirk grows into something wicked. “My WOD. Workout of the Day.” He explains. “I like to do it in the morning, clears my head for the rest of the day.”

“Right… right, your wo… workout of the day. Right. That’s… that’s good.” Regulus' heart rate feels erratic, like he’s the one that just worked out for an hour. “Err… well… have a nice day, Mr. Potter.” He says quickly as he turns around and pretends to busy himself with his nonexistent work.  

“You can call me James.” James tells him again, a smug smile clear in his voice even though Regulus doesn’t turn around to see it.

He listens to James’ footsteps shuffle across the lobby and around the corner to the elevators. He doesn’t turn around until he hears the elevator doors close and he’s sure James is no longer there.

“Fuck.” Regulus releases the breath he didn’t realize he was holding.

He has another hour left of his shift and every second is spent completely distracted by thoughts of James Potter and his… ‘Workout of the Day’.

Here's a bunch of pics from my volume with brief translations of what's being said (which might not match perfectly with the RAW as these things tend to go but I'll double check my RAWs for the important words). I hope my english is correct lmao

"Originally they had the task of monitoring soldiers' behavior who were on mission to conquer some planet, punishing those who were playing around/slacking... but due to the troops' resentment, nobody wanted to enroll in the military police anymore, and the body became totally automated. This means the invasion attempts of our commander have been so questionable that he got arrested by those trashcans... kukuku"

"What's gonna happen to the sergeant?"

"Our system is very efficient. So the army will process the case automatically. Meaning..."

"He'll be fired, and our invasion will end that way."

"I can't accept something like that! Absolutely not! After all, the sergeant hasn't done anything wrong! Why are they doing this to him...?"

"Given the circumstances, I ask that you be a substitute commander for us!"

"Why me?"

"To enact a military operation we need five members!"

"Kero! Now I remember everything. It's the usual bureaucracy that goes around firing incompetent invaders... But my heroic subordinates will destroy this damn system! I don't want a mere automated system hindering my conquest of planet Pokopen!"

Does this help anything? 🫶 My opinion here is that the Mother Black Star was telling Keroro what he wanted to hear... and also perhaps that they were using a keron star on him (so it DOES have an effect? well i dont know if a keron star was being used so the jury is still out ig) and was influencing him into giving up the invasion

also super interesting that they're all called black stars. all the stuff the keron army did that's kinda probably not aligned with the space warfare treaty or something like that? whatever he means by "negative legacy"... that shi is inside Keroro's keron star too!! hm
