The daughter of a wrongfully convicted Nova Scotia man says burying her father next month will renew her intense grief — especially if a criminal investigation into his case remains stalled. Amanda Huckle says when her father Glen Assoun died about two years ago, she felt the accumulated injustice of the almost 17 years he spent in a federal prison for a crime he was found not guilty of committing. "As his life left his body, it's like all his pain just sat in the palm of our hands and we're left to carry this," she said in a telephone interview Wednesday.

I did not kill Kandee Martin. I’m innocent of the crimes, I’m here to die for. Living behind these walls has taught me a lot about loss and grief. It is never easy, but I have learned to find comfort in sharing good memories and funny stories. My suffering will soon be at an end, but I know it is the beginning for others. Please keep your head up, remember I love you, and please share your memories of me. I know that Kandee’s family is in pain, they are justifiably angry. If my death brings them some relief and ability to focus on the good times and funny stories, then I guess it will have served a purpose. I hope they find peace. To my family, friends, and supporters, I have nothing to give, but I have gained so much. I have tried to give a good return on your investment with love and care. I had bad moments but never a bad day because there were so many people that I could reach out to, investing in me and giving me a hand up. We all ended up as family, and I got a whole lot of family. Thank you Over the years I have learned that we are labeled as the worst of the worst. None of these guys that I have gotten to know and grown to love are the people that they were when they had their moment that cost them everything. If the world could see us in our day to day, they would have a different view of the death penalty. We all pray for grace and forgiveness, but the outside world is stuck with images of monsters perpetrated by the State, while our real voices are silenced. We are not what the State labels us to be. We are kind, caring, loving people, and it’s a shame the world can’t see that.
Last Breath or Sigh
Last breath or sigh of relief, It was God who breathed the breath of life into Adam. So why is taking our last breath so hard to fathom? How many times you've held your breath, When you've wondered what would happen if you exhaled. Overcoming your fears, doubts, and many tears, And you know God's pulled or pushed you through, Only to release a sigh of relief. Let there be no mistaking— I've felt love with every breath I've taken. I hope I've given a good return on that investment. So, when I've breathed my last gasp, The good Lord just took back what He gave me as breath. Know that I'm in God's grasp, And it's in His bosom I'll rest in. Did I take a last breath or sigh of relief? Last breath or sigh of relief. Peace, Love, and Respect – Marion Bowman Jr.

Joseph 'Joe' Arridy (April 29, 1915 - January 6, 1939) was wrongfully convicted and executed for the murder of Dorthy Drain, at the time 15 years old, in Pueblo, Colorado, his natal city. He was mentally disabled, and the police manipulated him to make a false confession. He was only 23 years old at the time. due to his mental disabilities, he didn't understand the concept of death or being executed, which had to be explained to him several times in different ways. He was executed by gas chamber. Joe only received a full and unconditional posthumous pardon by Colorado Governor Bill Ritter 72 years after his death.

“Unreliable” Lung Float Test Still Being Used to Convict Women of Murder — ProPublica
In investigations across the country, the lung float test has emerged as a barometer of sorts to help determine if a mother suffered the devastating loss of a stillbirth or if she murdered her baby who was born alive. The test has been used in at least 11 cases where women were charged criminally since 2013 and has helped put nine of them behind bars, a ProPublica review of court records and news reports found. Some of those women remain in prison. Some had their charges dropped and were released.
But the test is so deeply flawed that many medical examiners say it cannot be trusted. They put it in the same company as the discredited analysis of bite marks and bloodstain patterns, 911 calls and hair comparisons, all of which lack solid scientific foundations and have contributed to wrongful convictions.
It is pseudoscience masquerading as sound forensics, they say. Some even liken the test to witch trials, where courts decided if a woman was a witch based on whether she floated or sank.
“Basing something so enormous on a test that should not be used, that has been completely discredited, is absolutely wrong,” said Dr. Ranit Mishori, the senior medical adviser for the nonprofit Physicians for Human Rights, which has been studying the test, and a professor of family medicine at Georgetown University School of Medicine. “You can send a person who is innocent to prison for many years.”

Wrongfully convicted prisoners
This is going to be a much more serious post than what I was intending for this blog to be. I am livid and disappointed in the supreme court's decision to continue with the execution of Marcellus Williams. It was irresponsible, pointless, and a waste of valuable resources to murder this man. The victim's family did not want his death. No one wanted him dead, and yet the supreme court went through with it. He served 24 years in prison and died in prison. he died wrongfully and horrifyingly. And there are so many more like him. The Innocence Project is just one of many organizations who are dedicated to releasing wrongfully convicted death row prisoners. While we may not be able to help Marcellus anymore, we can still use his legacy to help people who were just like him, wrongfully convicted and about to be wrongfully murdered by politicians who cannot be compassionate and present enough to care.
Currently, Robert Roberson is about to be murdered, wrongfully convicted of murdering his daughter because he dressed her before getting her to the hospital and due to his autism, didn't express emotions as a neurotypical parent would.
Don't let this be another case of ableism that murdered two people. Robert Roberson did not murder his daughter. Ableism murdered his daughter, and ableism is about to murder him.
share this with everyone you know. get your senators to pressure the texas criminal appeals court.

PLEASE READ
If you could take a second to read this and maybe sign the petition, share it, call etc, that would be awesome. The US justice system in all of its bullshit wisdom is disregarding clear evidence of innocence yet again even by a prosecuting DA and since a ruling by the Supreme Court that basically says innocence doesn’t matter, Missouri is going to execute a man in five days for a crime that he didn’t commit and they can very well get away with it unless we do something. Check the link below by the Innocence Project for more info. Reblogs are greatly appreciated 🖤

Erik and Lyle Menendez were verbally, physically, and sexually abused horrifically by their parents from early childhood. In 1989, the brothers took the lives of their abusers, fearful for how the abuse was progressing and concerned it would never end without their intervention. Their father was a powerful man, and they likely would have been dismissed by law enforcement and then harmed even worse by their parents for daring to speak their truth. Erik and Lyle have been in jail since the early 90’s.
Erik and Lyle’s family have created a petition to help voice the support of the public for their release as the DA reviews new evidence. This is an infuriating case and one I have been endlessly passionate about for a very, very long time. Please consider lending your voice to this cause. The Menendez brothers have suffered enough.

Tim Robbins (Andy dufresne) hears the captain of the guards Clancy Brown (Byron Hadley) about being taxed on an inheritance and offers him his help for giving every prisoner 3 beers in The Shawshank Redemption (1994)
Dir.Frank Darabont
Nominated for 7 Oscars
Chronicles the experiences of a formerly successful banker as a prisoner in the gloomy jailhouse of Shawshank after being found guilty of a crime he did not commit. The film portrays the man's unique way of dealing with his new, torturous life; along the way he befriends a number of fellow prisoners, most notably a wise long-term inmate named Red.
*Andy and Red's opening chat in the prison yard, in which Red is throwing a baseball, took nine hours to shoot because director Frank Darabont insisted on many takes of the scene before he was satisfied.Morgan Freeman threw the baseball for the entire nine hours without a word of complaint. He showed up for work the next day with his left arm in a sling.

Our friends at the Innocence Project need your help! Right now, Kentucky is one of only 12 states in the country that does not offer compensation to wrongfully convicted people. As a result, more than 20 innocent Kentuckians who have lost a combined total of 200 years of freedom are left waiting for restitution.
That can change with the passage of House Bill 206, which would allow eligible exonerees to receive much-needed financial compensation for the years stolen from them. Call your representatives today and tell them to support HB 206!

Remember Marcellus Williams! A black Muslim man falsely accused. Remember that he's innocent. Remember that the governor of Missouri, mike Parson who had the opportunity to save this man's life, decided not to. Remember all but three supreme court justices decided his life wasn't worth saving either. Remember his face. Remember his Last words. And remember how fucked up this country is
Rest in peace Marcellus
