Timothy Olyphant, Justin Cornwell and Others Join Tom Hardy in Netflix Action Thriller ‘Havoc’ (EXCLUSIVE)

“Havoc,” an action thriller starring Tom Hardy and Forest Whitaker, has rounded out its cast.

In addition to the previously announced Hardy and Whitaker, the Netflix movie will also feature Timothy Olyphant, “Training Day” and “The Umbrella Academy” actor Justin Cornwell, star of the upcoming Edgar Wright horror film “Last Night in Soho” Jessie Mei Li and Malaysian actress Yeo Yann Yann. Supporting cast members include Quelin Sepulveda, “Boogie Nights” and “Magnolia” actor Luis Guzmán, “Headshot” star Sunny Pang, and UFC mixed martial artist Michelle Waterson.

“Havoc” takes place after a drug deal gone wrong and centers on a bruised detective who must fight his way through a criminal underworld to rescue a politician’s estranged son, while unraveling a deep web of corruption and conspiracy that ensnares his entire city.

Gareth Evans is writing and directing the movie as part of his recently announced deal to produce and direct films exclusively for Netflix for the next several years. “Havoc” will be Evans first feature under the new creative partnership.

Long based in Indonesia, Evans is the director of kinetic action films “The Raid: Redemption” and “The Raid II” that enjoyed international success in 2011 and 2014, respectively. Along with his first feature, “Merantau,” the movies spawned a host of imitators, with many attempting to integrate lesser-known forms of martial arts. On the TV front, he co-created the TV crime series “Gangs of London.”

Olyphant, best known for the FX Western series “Justified,” had a part in Quentin Tarantino’s “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,” as well as “Santa Clarita Diet” and the latest season of “The Mandalorian.”

Cornwell recently appeared in the Netflix original musical “Jingle Jangle” and acted alongside Chris Pine in the mini-series “I Am the Night.” Li currently stars in Netflix’s fantasy series “Shadow and Bone” as Alina Starkov and was in a 2019 stage production of “All About Eve.”

Yeo is a Malaysia-born, Singapore-based actor whose career rebounded with her starring role in Anthony Chen’s foreign language Oscar contender “Ilo Ilo” and Chen’s follow up film “Wet Season.” She also picked up an Emmy nomination in 2020 for her role in HBO Asia series “Invisible Stories.” “My heart is filled with excitement,” she told Variety. “[I] can’t wait to start the shoot.”

Producers on “Havoc” include Hardy, Evans for One More One Productions, Ed Talfan for Severn Screen and Aram Tertzakian for XYZ Films.

‘You're a special one, Mandy. I, too, am a special one.Let us be so very special together.'

Alongside a plethora of other talented artists, I am honoured to announce that two of my original Mandy poster artworks have been selected to be featured in an upcoming PosterSpy art book titled MANDY: THE ULTIMATE POSTER COLLECTION which officially launches on Kickstarter Monday, 22nd November 2021.

The artwork was originally created in October 2018 as an entry submission for a creative brief hosted by PosterSpy.com.

(Entry excerpt from the book) Apart from being a seemingly straightforward action-packed Nicholas Cage revenge thriller, what stands out most about Panos Cosmatos's 2018 film Mandy are its multifold layers of possible interpretations - be it literal, allegorical or symbolic. Panos tastefully paints a lush multidimensional cinematic collage not only by paying homage to the creme-de-la-creme of quirky 80's pop culture but also by making reference to myths of old, biblical tales and timeless archetypes embedded within the viewers' collective unconscious. As to accommodate and complement the director's chosen MO, I chose not to take things at face value by simply portraying characters and distinct scenes from the film. My artwork attempts to convey the deep underlying ideas and concepts through implicit symbols and artefacts – found objects, props, materials, textures, scenery and contrasting colour palettes featured in the movie.

The apple symbolizing the temptation and fall of man; the enveloping serpent's skin embodying evil and chaos; the burning flames representing the purifying and destructive nature of fire; the tiger skin denoting Blakean bravery and wrath; the figure 44 referencing the number of days between Christ's crucifixion and resurrection; the occult sigil of Lucifer – the 'light-bringer'; the black leather of the four summoned riders of an impending Apocalypse – these are the images I found most appealing, substantial and apt for my compositions.For the medium, I opted to utilize digital art tools to create a cohesive collage of photographs, graphics, textures and typography, all embellished with vivid colour grading and a distressed finish.

Releasing via crowd-funding platform Kickstarter, the book is an officially licensed, brand-new, 132-page book featuring a foreword by the producers, Elijah Wood and Daniel Noah, the co-founders of SpectreVision and is crammed full of incredible art celebrating the film. The book is also fully approved and licensed by Nicolas Cage whose likeness is used throughout.

Over 60 artists are featured in this stunning art book and you���ll find in-depth commentary and sketches that have never been published before.

📽 TobiView 📽 DIE FARBE AUS DEM ALL OT: Color Out of Space 🟣 Als es hieß DIE FARBE AUS DEM ALL würde im März 2020 (dank Drop-Out Cinema) kurzzeitig im Kino laufen, war die Freude zunächst groß. Als die Auswertung aber dann auf ausgewählte Kinos beschränkt wurde, kein Kino in meiner Nähe Vorstellungen zu humanen Zeit anbot und der erste Corona-Lockdown weitere Pläne zunichtemachte, verschob ich die Sichtung auf einen späteren Zeitpunkt. Mit dem kürzlichen Kauf der Blu-ray konnte ich den Film endlich “nachholen“. 🟣 Regisseur Richard Stanley inszenierte nach über 20jähriger Spielfilmabstinenz die Verfilmung einer Kurzgeschichte von H. P. Lovecraft aus dem Jahr 1927 mit Nicolas Cage in der Hauptrolle. Die Horror-SciFi-Story ist einfach aber interessant, beginnt recht ruhig und baut sich immer weiter auf, bis sie schließlich in fast kaleidoskop-ähnlicher Farbpracht im hauptsächlich pinken Finale gipfelt. Der eingestreute “Creature“-Horror, die zum Teil grandiose schauspielerische Leistung des Casts und der inszenatorische Ablauf ergeben einen guten Mix. Das Pacing ist passend und angenehm. 🟣 Mir fehlt der direkte Vergleich, da ich die fast 100 Jahre alte Lovecraft-Kurzgeschichte nicht gelesen habe und daher bleibe ich eher im cineastischen Bereich. Versatzstück aus bekannten Werken wie z. B. “Das Ding aus einer anderen Welt“, “Die Fliege“ oder auch “Shining“ (mit Bezug auf Nicolas Cage‘ Figur) ergeben einen überdurchschnittlich guten und kurzweiligen Film, dem es gelingt seine leicht gruselige Stimmung weiterstgehend aufrecht zu erhalten. 🟣 Ich fühlte mich über die gesamte Laufzeit gut unterhalten. Un pequeño meteorito cae a los pies de una granja familiar. De ahí en adelante, un aterrador suceso dará pie al siguiente. La buena intención puede palparse, con guiños a clásicos como "La Cosa". A pesar de no contar con suficientes medios, tiene una importante baza a su favor: sirve a la perfección, para iniciarse en la literatura de H.P Lovecraft.
