#Yk with the whole “Bonnie having the most basic understanding of PTSD” thing in mind

Pétronille thoughts tonight, chat…

Its not too far off to think her parents were physically abusive: Her immediate reaction to being touched without warning is to scream or have a violent outburst, which, you know, isn’t necessarily normal (Of course its not her fault she reacts this way--trauma causes scary reactions.)

I'd also like to mention how she explained to Bonnie that her “scared brain” takes over whenever she’s unprepared. Simplifying PTSD down to “hey when you do this my brain does this and its not your fault” is actually a pretty healthy way of explaining to a child what a traumatic reaction might look like.

And then there’s Bonnie having to run away from the Kings curse…which directly reflects how Pétronille once had to do something similar, except this time it isn’t just due to personal battles but a nation wide threat. Adults not only failed Nille, but Bonnie as well. Which stinks!!! Because that means Bonnie had a glimpse of what running away from home might have felt like for Nille. And now Nille has to live with that guilt. Which also stinks.
