Heard this beautiful song this morning, and these artists are all new to me. =D

From what I understand, the guitarist/composer 肖骏 Jun Xiao from the band INNOUT was looking for a female singer for project, and he found 小語 Agnes Kong (aka 江語) from the band momomo 某某某.

Doll is the single released about a month ago. Zoo Chronicle 動樂記 YT posted the lyrics MV above, and there is also an anime style official MV:

Let's hear something from momomo 某某某! They released a debut 4-song ep at the end of 2023. Here is the most-played cut, it's nice and bouncy, with English lyrics:

This article says they met in Beijing, but emerging from Boston, and it seems that all 3 members are at least partly based abroad?

小語 Agnes Kong-Voc/Gtr/partly based in London?,  Zhengxi Zhang 張正熹-Keys/Voc (producer-engineer partly based in NYC?),  RVRIE 澤帆 aka Zefan Gao-Gtr/Voc/ (singer-songwriter-producer partly based in Boston?) (I'm basing their locations on their IG pages, so I don't really know if that info is current)

3 of the songs on the ep are in English, and they all have a pleasing sound, even the ballad is kinda bouncy. =D

Another good band to check out is 遺忘曲線 Forgetting Curve from Guangzhou. =D

I have so little info on this unit, not even a weibo site. And I only just saw them featured this week on Zoo Chronicle 動樂記 channel. (very good channel for promoting mainland bands on YT)

I found these members: 何嘉棋 MusicK-Voc/Gtr, 雷子-Lead Gtr, 小北-Bass, Gihong-Drums.

The name 遺忘曲線 Forgetting Curve is a problem for people looking for the band, because it's a scientific/psychological term. The name comes from Hermann Ebbinghaus' The forgetting curve, which hypothesizes the decline of memory retention in time. (wikipedia links).

There is also a British band by that name.  If anybody has some links for 遺忘曲線 Forgetting Curve, please let me know. =)

There is/was another Guangzhou band we featured called Yu Fei Men 與非門 (weibo), searching for their name led to the computer term 与非门 NAND gate. (chinese wiki link)

I loved this band, this song is from 2003:

Love this! =D I don't recall ever featuring 布朗尼TheBrownieBand, but this chill and bluesy song is highly recommended. Chorus in English.

Okay, Brownie is the opening track from their 2019 Julie ep. Kinda weird - according to Spotify, there is a Julie single, but there is no Julie song on the Julie ep. By the way, they have several songs in their catalogue with girls' names. (Julie, Kelly, Rosie, Daisy)

The song was written by 段阿翥, 莉莉童, 黃子健. (I don't know the names of the band members yet, but that is a good clue.) =D

Okay, from a few years ago, I see the members listed as: 廉子 Lianzi-Vocal, ���子健-Gtr, 丁睿-Bass. They may be a *5-piece now, or at least, they perform with support as 5? Photos at weibo home page show 5 and sometimes 6 peeps.

Let's check out a band called 返校日 (Riot In School)  from Chengdu, China.  =D

Grunge/Alternative rock, with some softer tunes as well, such as the above song from their new ep. Posted by Zoo Chronicle 動樂記 YT channel.

The only song I've heard from their previous work is very *noisy. I would check out the bandcamp or Spotify links below.

Current lineup: Huang Pinxi-Guitar/Backing Voc/Lyricist, Lei Menglan-Lead Voc, Gtr/Composer, Ke Ge-Bass, Hu Yige-Drums. (debut album in 2022 had a diff. drummer/bassist)

Are/Were on Maybe Mars. I think the new 2024 ep (Those Time We Wasted On Each Other) might be released on their own.

Tragic tale (XD) from 椅子樂團 The Chairs, this is a fun tune, very catchy! Lyrics on screen from Zoo Chronicle 動樂記 YT channel. (also back at YT)

This song is on their 2023 album, The Great Escape Of Our Time, and it might be an autobiographical tale about the singer, 裘詠靖 Jing Chiu? A few of the verses mention bad things happening to 'Jing'.

裘詠靖 Jing Chiu-voc/gtr, 孫伯元 Benson Sun-bass/gtr, 陳仲穎 Zhong-Ying Chen-voc/gtr. Eazie Huang 黃榮毅 is their producer, supports on keys sometimes. Dee Chen (fr.百合花 Lilium) is their live drummer, but I'm not sure if she's playing on the recording.

Fun song from a band called 衣湿乐队 (also written: 衣濕樂隊)

I don't have much info, but they're from Zhuhai, Guangdong Province, China. 遊淼 You Miao is the singer.

Let’s check out a rock/electro band called 海皮威尔 Happy Wheel  =D

They formed in 2015 in Wuhan, Hubei Province, China. The members are: 胡阳-Voc, 王瑾瑜-Gtr, 梁家满 (aka 梁策)-Bass/Synth Program, 殷阔帅-Drums

The song above was posted to SC last month, and I first heard of them today,  Zoo Chronicle 動樂記 YT shared this lyrics video:

Let's check out the band 夏沐草SummerGrass =D

They're from Shenzhen, China, formed in 2013 and Douban has the members listed: 范文宙-Voc, 黄佳乐-Gtr, 黄仕鹏-Bass, 康磊-Keys/Sampler, 刘宇轩-Drums

2020 photos show them performing as a 4-piece, no keys. This crowd selfie is from last December:

New single from the veteran band, 旅行团 (The Life Journey) =D

旅行团乐队 / 旅行團樂隊 formed in 1999, and the current members are: 孔一蟬 Yann-Lead Voc/Gtr, 黃子君 Mali-Gtr/B.Voc, 韋偉 oldbanana-Keys, 徐彪 Xu Biao-Drums.

Zoo Chronicle 動樂記 included the lyrics back at YT.

New single from 大波浪樂隊 The Big Wave   Excellent tune!   =D

We’ve posted this band before, check it out.  

They still list this lineup: 李剑 Li Jian-Voc/Keys/Gtr/Production, 兰野-Bass/Keys/Perc/Voc, 张一航-Gtr/Voc/Keys, 小熊-VJ, *石璐 Atom-Drums/Voc/elec. perc. (fr. Hedgehog 刺猬, Nova Heart).  

*Actually, the most recent live/publicity shots I see on weibo show a different drummer, and I think Atom has been busy with Hedgehog.  The Big Wave had a male drummer before atom joined, so maybe he is back with them?

When I was searching for the band on Spotify, I couldn’t find them until I searched directly for the song; when I found it I realized that they just go by ‘大波浪’ on Spotify, they leave off the 樂隊 (band) part.  Keep that in mind if you get frustrated like me, LOL.

Let’s check out a new electro trio from Chengdu called Oops! 物普適   =D

I found this MV posted by Zoo Chronicle 動樂記 YT channel.  Based in TW, and they post both mainland and TW music.  (Recommended sub. because they post a good mix of music/artists!)

I don’t know much about Oops other than they are 3 girls (w/ live support from a guy on drums). They have a 2020 ep (A Begin) and I Want It All is their new single.  (They were also included on a 2019 Modern Sky compilation, and that song is also on their ep.)
