When I see disneyland zootopia animatronics get so sad bc all this work and art to make such a complicated mechanism for a movie that sucked so bad and they can do that bc they have infinite money forever

On the one hand I want to let Knights of Guinevere stand as its own thing from The Owl House but on the other hand it’s really tempting to analyze the recurring themes in a creator’s works.

With TOH there was this idea of Expectations VS Reality, how Luz has these conventional fairy tale fantasies in mind, only to face a more grisly reality that is still beautiful in its own right. With KoG, I suspect that the princess is some biomechanical animatronic whose programming is conflicting with her actual perception of the world around her. She has the classic fairy tale animal sidekicks and is in a Sleeping Beauty position.

For Luz, this was more a matter of genre expectations. But for this princess character, her expectations seem to be taken to a pretty literal extent in that it’s become visual filter-style hallucinations, which fits with KoG being described as a psychological thriller.

I find this fascinating because it seems Dana is exploring this original theme but through a different angle this time. She had her go with an overeager kid who needed to mature, and now she’s doing it with a character who literally can’t distinguish between her mind and reality. Unsurprisingly, the kid goes with the kids show, and the adult goes with the adult show.

There’s also a much more visceral darkness to KoG’s reality compared to TOH’s, because the Demon Realm ended up having a grotesque wonder of its own that a weirdo like Luz learns to resonate with. Whereas with KoG, it’s leaning much more into how objectively horrible this situation is.

I also think it’s worth noting the setup of Park Planet and how Dana’s cynicism towards Disney during her experience working on TOH might influence KoG. Something I found interesting about the pitch bible for TOH is that it came across as notably harsher towards Luz’s fantasy book, the Unassuming Princess. In addition to the bible discussing how Luz needs to let go of “generic fantasies” there’s the revelation that the Unassuming Princess is written by Eda’s terrible ex, who is exploiting her life for his gain, and so clearly there’s a call for cancellation.

But in the final draft of TOH, the narrative avoids this Contempt for the Genre attitude; At worst Azura can be kind of corny and straightforward, and its prose overtly theatrical, but that’s really about it. It’s not always conducive as a guideline for Luz’s life but in the end there’s no shame in its existence; In fact, the final draft goes out of its way to make Azura foundational to Luz’s arc, and something she can and deserves to still keep! The final stretch of the series even ties it into Dana’s own loving relationship with her deceased father, and in the end Azura inspires Luz and is the bookends to her arc. It ends up being a story about stories.

I wonder if this was perhaps the result of executive mandate; But then again, Disney doesn’t struggle to dunk on its own classics (think Frozen or Zootopia), and there’s a difference between wanting the attitude towards the fairy tale to be more supportive, and actively making it a core part of the main character’s arc. It makes me think of how Disney did mandate more of a focus on Hexside, but at the same time it was always part of the pitch bible. And the writers even stuck to it in S3 because of what they’d already accomplished in making it work for their narrative anyhow.

But I digress; My point is that Dana’s exploring a theme she had with TOH but from a new, darker angle. And so it makes me think she’ll do that harsher attitude towards the fairy tale after all; In this case, not out of contempt for the genre but more contempt for the corporation and its sanitization, a reflection of how Disney limited Dana’s creative freedom with TOH. Really, KoG comes across as Dana getting to do things she never could’ve, because of her own choices regarding the narrative, the genre expectations, and/or Disney’s mandates. So it’d be poetic.

COMPLETELY pony unrelated, but like two and a half years ago i was a big Kwite fan and made a zootopia abortion comic inspired comic about Kwite and Springtrap (yes, the rotting, broken ass FNAF animatronic) for their stream where they were going to read the original comic. it was read by them live and it was hilarious. moving on. 5 days ago on their alt channel (Kwyte) they released a video about the “i’m an artist, i can draw you pregnant” trend, and while the comic was not mentioned at all, it felt like the codeword for my sleeper agent was yelled into my face. i will now be disappearing into my cave to spend the next five hours drawing an alternative kwitetrap pregnancy comic. this is not something i wish to be known for, however i fear that it may be too late already, and i don’t feel like i can control my body AGAINST this urge. farewell.

Y/N shivered while walking through the streets that were covered by snow. The sky was grey with clouds and it was even snowing slightly! She wore an oversized warm fluffy hoodie that was also her winter jacket and also wore a scarf around her neck to keep that part warm. While walking, she was rubbing her gloved hands together to keep them warm. When the hands are cold and you have gloves on, it doesn't help sometimes until you rub them, probably. She also carried a backpack around and inside it, there were gifts for everyone. I mean, everyone. But who was 'everyone'? The animatronics. Technically, they were real-life alive furries! You have no idea how furries are popular today and very loved by millions. The most popular animal furries would be bears, bunnies, chickens, foxes, and even wolves. You should search online and see fan arts of hot furries. I, for example, love a lot seeing furries and humans together. Fnaf is like one of the examples that there are furries. Even though they're animatronics. There were a couple of times where Scott created the beloved characters as real furries like a game where Freddy and his friends were in space.

You need to think of Looney Tunes, Chicken Little, Zootopia, Sing, Sonic the Hedgehog, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Pokemon, and Thunder Cats are also examples where they have furries. As you can see, furries are everywhere, wherever you are. It's actually thanks to furries that many popular fandoms were created and many people don't even realize it.

But let's go back to the main point.

Y/N was friends with animatronics ever since she started working as a nightguard and she's basically the first female to do so. That caught the attention of the animatronics. All of their lives, they only got male guards and this time it was a female! The animatronics took great interest in her that they waited until 12 a.m. started and they began to move. Y/N was aware at that time of the animatronics moving around and even causing the disappearances of previous nightguards, males. It was either scaring them away to death or killing them. The animatronics wanted to roam free around the place.

Y/N giggled as she has a clear memory of her first encounter with the animatronics. She expected to be gone on her first night because all of the animatronics moved at the same time together. She expected her first night to be easy but she was so wrong as the animatronics were damn curious. She accidentally cut Freddy's paw (or hand) off before he got inside. She fixed it up and that's how the band started with the animatronics. Everyone was so nice to her! But she's especially close to Freddy Fazbear himself, the boss of everyone. He was the leader of Bonnie, Chica, and Foxy, after all. He's the lead singer, the main star. His voice was deep and handsome as well. From the early times, she noticed Bonnie and Chica acting lovebirds to each other so Y/N hatched a plant to get them together. She succeeded and now they're a cute couple! But little did she know that Freddy would be... stubborn on them about PDA while it's Christmas.

Y/N finally arrived at the building and she got her keys out. She unlocked it and entered. She made sure that it's locked so that no one would break-in. Once she finally entered the main room, she got smiles from the animatronics.

She was greeted by a hug from Toy Chica. "Hey, Y/N! Glad you could join us!"

Y/N smiled happily. "Of course! You all are like a family to me!"

Just then, Toy Bonnie walked over. He was happy to see his human friend and he had also a secret crush on Toy Chica. "Hey, Y/N."

Y/N nodded back at him as a greeting with a friendly smile. Just then, she noticed a Christmas tree on stage. "Oh! You're about to decorate the tree!"

"Would you like to help us?"

Y/N smirked. "The expert of decorating will be glad to help!"

That caused both toys to laugh and Y/N joined later as well. She was a big teaser if she felt like it but she wanted to make others laugh so she's trying. By then, Freddy came out from the boys' bathroom and he spotted Y/N. He felt his heartbeat skip and felt butterflies in his stomach. There she was. The girl of his dreams. Yes, she may be a human but he didn't care. He wanted Y/N to be his. There were indeed other males around but Bonnie and Foxy had their mates and Toy Bonnie is very close to being with Toy Chica. Other males that are single are Golden Freddy, Toy Freddie, Marionette (or Puppet), and Freddy himself. Although, Marionette didn't look interested to have somebody special.

Toy Freddy belonged to one of the toys gang and he's the lead singer as well just like Freddy Fazbear himself. But instead of calling him Freddy Fazbear, he's called Toy Freddy since he's basically the toy version of the original bear. Toy Freddy only looked scary when his eyes were black. Have you ever seen his eyes while watching him through the cameras? He's a big prankster in this family. He's currently planning to prank poor Golden Freddy or Goldie for short as Y/N liked to call him. They were in fact best friends. Goldie was quite mysterious and calm as well. Many fans out there described him through writing as a villain, a prankster, a flirt, etc. But Y/N didn't like any of that. Watch videos like made by Zajchu37 or Zero2zero2. Goldie is serious and calm. He's not a flirt nor a prankster and that's what Y/N liked a lot about him. He was once a singer as well named Fredbear. He had a best friend named Springbonnie, who's now known as Springtrap. Sadly, no one knew where he was now... Goldie misses him every day. Wherever he was, let's hope that his best friend can be found.

Freddy took a deep breath and walked up to her. "Hey, Y/N. Merry Christmas!" He then helps her with the winter jacket and hung it over a chair.

"Merry Christmas, Freddy!" She then kisses his muzzle cheek, causing him to blush. "I'm gonna help Toy Bonnie and Toy Chica with the tree, alright?"

Freddy nodded, still blushing from the kiss, and walked close by The Pirates Cove and leans against the wall, and crossed his arms. Since he was the boss, he wanted to make sure that everything went smoothly. Most of his attention was on Y/N, who was on the stage, helping to decorate while Toy Chica was on the ladder and Toy Bonnie passed the decorations to her.

Freddy Fazbear, you goddamn pervert.

His eyes moved on towards Toy Freddy, who was busy with a small red present that had a yellow ribbon around it. By the look on his face, it was smug and evil like a prankster would put it on their face. Toy Freddy was one of them. Just then, Goldie was walking around and got stopped by the toy prankster. By their short conversation, Goldie was in awe and smiled at the present Toy Freddy made that he made it fly in the air. Oh, how Toy Freddy couldn't wait to get Goldie but I wouldn't do that... Goldie is so cute for showing a confused expression with his head tilted to the side! In the background, Marionette came from the left hallway that led to the office of Mike Smidt, the current nightguard since Y/N decided to stop but she promised to visit like she always did! Marionette wore a Santa hat and carried a present.

Freddy decided to walk around, his eyes secretly connecting with Y/N's, who smiled and waved at him. This caused the bear to blush and wave back. In the background, Foxy and Mangle came out from the right hallway, with Christmas presents in their hands. They had sad expressions since Mike closed the door on them, probably mistaken them as they tried to get him... But they only wanted to give you presents, idiot! The bear stopped in his tracks when he noticed the official couple, Bonnie and Chica. God, you can see clearly that they were flirting and showing PDA!

Marionette flew up to Y/N, who was helping the toys to decorate and the tree is getting good! "Hello, Y/N. Merry Christmas."

Y/N smiled. "Merry Christmas, Marionette."

Just then, both of them heard screams coming from the bathroom. Both Puppet and Y/N snapped their heads towards the sounds. What was happening? Did something happen? They kinda got their answer when Chica and Bonnie came out from the bathroom, angry expressions on their faces. Freddy came out as last. Y/N took a good look and saw a clipboard that Freddy held. Had he just shown new rules about love? Oh no...

Her mind went out that she didn't notice the toys making a short conversation until Toy Chica screamed in panic as she lost control of her balance on the ladder that she held into the tree for dear life. Y/N held her laugh in as Toy Chica landed on top of Toy Bonnie. She walked towards the tree and pushed it up.

"So-Sorry," Toy Bonnie remarked in embarrassment as his crush was on top of him. Aaaaaw...

"Sorry too... I didn't mean to..."

By then Freddy walked over and he rolled his eyes when he saw their position. "Ooh, so new lovebirds, huh?"

"What!? We didn't mean to!'

But Freddy wasn't amused nor impressed. He laid his paw on his forehead. "Take your privacy, lovebirds." He then walked off.

Bonnie and Chica were very mad now. Why did Freddy give them privacy and they didn't? They wanted alone time and to be lovely towards each other! Yet, Freddy made dumb rules towards the couples such as Bonnie, Chica, Foxy, and Mangle. That needs to be changed!

Y/N giggled as she helped the toys up. "You alright, lovebirds?"

Both toys nodded as they felt still embarrassed for what happened. Y/N looked at Bonnie Chica, who were whispering about discussing a plan to get revenge on Freddy for making dumb rules and for taking their privacy away. She walked up to them, causing the couple to immediately stop and look up at her. "I can help you. I'll make sure to make him speechless." She had a grin on her face. She bent closer to them and explained the whole plan. The couple liked it a lot.

So, the plan was simple. Y/N disappeared to get dressed in a Christmas dress she brought with her. Not a sexy one, but still that it made her look very beautiful to catch Freddy's attention. She can't come out yet... Meanwhile, Chica brought a pizza box towards the parts/service room or simply backstage. That's where the parts of the animatronics were kept if one of them broke like Mangle for example. She became a victim of the kids who broke her. The animatronics managed to fix her up completely. Freddy can get easily hungry from working as a boss so if he smelled the pizza, then he'll go for it and Bonnie and Chica can finally knock him out and make him dress up like a Christmas tree. Amazing, right?

It really did happen! Freddy got hungry when he smelled the pizza! The plan was working! Y/N peaked from the hallway as Freddy entered backstage and the doors closed.

Sorry, Freddy... Y/N thought as she heard the screams and then beating.

Later~

Once Freddy was tight up, Bonnie and Chica felt satisfied when they got their revenge. The bear was waking up slowly. Once he opened his blue eyes, he noticed that he's tied up. He had a Santa hat on and he's decorated with Christmas lights. He's cute when he uses his ears moved. He let out a growl since he knew that Bonnie and Chica were behind this. He stopped growling when he heard: "Merry Christmas, Freddy." Some of the animatronics hugged him. This shocked the bear but he hugged them back. How? By closing his eyes, enjoying the moment, and snuggled one of them with his cheek. Aaaw...

"Merry Christmas, Fazbear."

Everyone broke out and turned towards the voice. They had their eyes wide open and Freddy had a shocked expression that he's blushing like crazy. It was Y/N in her the most beautiful Christmas dress that Freddy has ever seen. It may not look sexy but *whistles* she's looking hot! She smiled as she walked up on the stage. Everyone made space for her towards Freddy with smiles on their faces. Bonnie had his arm wrapped around Chica while watching them. Freddy's heart beats faster as she stood right in front of him. He wants to kiss her and he'll get his wish. But little did they know that Bonnie and Chica kept a bonus plan all along...

Y/N giggled as she couldn't help how cute and funny the bear looked like a new Christmas tree since Toy Bonnie accidentally scared poor Toy Chica out by sneezing. It was kinda funny how you would scare somebody by sneezing. How about a burp (A/N: funny fact is that I scared my mother once by letting out a loud burp while her back was turned XD)? Freddy looked embarrassed and shy by her giggles.

"You look adorable and funny right now, Freddy."

Freddy wanted badly to say a compliment to her, how beautiful she looked. But he couldn't since his mouth was also shut since he's tied up. Y/N reached her hands out to pull the rope down from his mouth. Once that was out of the way, Freddy didn't hesitate. "You look hot in that Christmas dress, beautiful."

Some animatronics looked surprised by his remark. Did Freddy Fazbear just call Y/N hot? Yes, he did. He wasn't lying at all. Y/N blushed by his comment and she smiled lovingly. Just then, something appeared above their heads between them. Both of them looked up to see a mistletoe! The plant was connected with a fishing rod and once you follow it, Bonnie and Chica were holding it with smug looks on their faces. Freddy was too shy and embarrassed to say something. Mistletoes were used to make people kiss. It was a popular tool to make new couples who secretly loved each other like Toy Bonnie and Toy Chica. But now it was time to make Freddy and Y/N a couple! Y/n rolled her eyes with a smile and grabbed Freddy by the ropes, pulling him closer as he looked speechless into her eyes. Wait, is she going to-

"Break the rules about love, Freddy. Because there will be more." She then finally kissed the bear. He may not be human, but you can still kiss him! Freddy closed his eyes and kisses her back, enjoying her soft pumpy lips on his mouth. Or muzzle? When the kiss ended, Y/N snuggled into him and Freddy could only nuzzle her back and even purr! It made Y/N giggle as it tickled her. "Merry Christmas, Fred-Cat."

"Merry Christmas to you too, Y/N. Thank you for the wonderful kiss as a present."

Bonus~

Goldie got pretty excited as he started to unwrap the present he got from Toy Freddy. Poor Goldie didn't know what was coming... He had an excited look on his face but that all changed when the present blew up into his face! He let his (famous) scream of shock and he was black... Completely black. His white pupils were glowing. Once Goldie quickly recovered, he realized something. He got pranked by Toy Freddy, who was laughing his ass off. He walked towards who knows where. Did I also forget to mention that Balloon Boy or BB was also covered in black by the explosion?

Y/N looked shocked while being in Freddy's arms. She felt sorry for Goldie but also for Toy Freddy because...

Goldie was so mad that he stood up and flew right towards him with an angry scream! Toy Freddy was so scared and shocked that he screamed as well. You heard crashes first, then voices.

"Come on, Goldie! It was just a joke!"

"It's not funny like this! Look how I look now! I'm now dirty!"

"I'm sorry, ok?!"

"Do not do it again, ok? If you do it again, it's not gonna be a good day for you... okay?!"

"Okay, okay! I promise!"

Let's just say that ever since that day, Toy Freddy never pranked Goldie ever again... He didn't want his ass to be kicked by another bear who would be freaking mad!

Merry Christmas, ya filthy animal!

To the Hopps family: Fall must be a particularly busy time of year for you not only because of the large harvest but also getting ready for Halloween, what’s your favorite things to do when it comes around?

Judy: "It's so much fun to take the kits all Trick or Treating! Of course, we have to plan an organize them into troops deployed to specific neighborhoods, so that each one is only hit once by a single family of kits. It's actually kinda both a county-wide ordinance for Bunnyburrow, though not officially... just more traditionally and so that households won't go broke stocking up on candy, and an actual official ordinance here in Zootopia. Of course, it can be a bit tricky keeping track of a few of my little brothers and sisters and nieces and nephews..."

Nick: "That's putting it mildly, Fluff. Remember last year, when an unexpected warm front caused the fireflies to stick around long enough for Halloween? Because I remember having to sneak around a giant pumpkin patch to look for little bunnies trying to catch them..."

Judy: "Oh hush, you enjoyed yourself."

Nick: "Yeah, at the houses that set up all sorts of scares for the Trick or Treaters!" Snickers "I swear, that one horse farmer had so many traps set up, it's a wonder that any kit made it to the front door."

Judy: "Maybe that's why he was giving out full-sized candy bars."

Nick: "Hey now, as I recall, Eli was excited to get that large 3 Musketbears bar... even if he did seem a bit nervous taking it from a horse made to look like that main villain from the Howlraiser movies..."

Stu: "I'd be lyin' iffin' I said I didn't enjoy setting up some of our own frights for the kits coming to our house..."

Bonnie: "It's nice that you and Pop-pop have something to bond over... terrifying children."

Stu: "Oh, Bon, it's just a few spooky fake spiders, some creaking sound effects, and a burbling little river of fake blood with whispers coming from it along with some animatronic skeletal animal paws and claws reaching out to grab at anyone trying to cross it on that creaky little bridge."

Bonnie: "... So anyway, I just love baking up batch after batch after batch of homemade sweets to pass out for the poor scared little dears. I like to alternate between pumpkin and spider-shaped sugar cookies, and little chocolate filled tarts covered in orange, green, or purple icing."

when did you first start getting into furry stuff? was it a childhood thing, or a more recent thing

i feel like ive always enjoyed funny animal people media, i remember (vaugely, i have ass memory and this was when i was in the single digits) being an enjoyer of winnie the pooh, disney stuff, plushies etc. i was into Magical Horse Tv Show from like. 5th grade onward. unfortunately the pivotal "ok im a furry" moment was watching zootopia whenever it came out in theaters but i feel it was always inevitable id be into the fandom. bc of the autism. first fursona was in middle school along with a dive into the fandom. which was not great for a ~15? year old to be diving headfirst into but im fine now mostly.

to answer with the wording of a question, absolutely a childhood thing. i think ive just been more and more open about it as time goes on, especially after getting weird with my gender. furry and gender are inseparably linked in my head. funny taur and huge dragon and animatronic and pony sonas are as much a gender to me as girl is

Multipass Ranking - Animal Kingdom

Decided to do each of these as their own post instead. I'll be ranking the attractions I've actually been on/done first and then doing a "bonus" list where I rank the N/A things based on how much I feel I personally would enjoy them.

1.) Festival of the Lion King - Yeah, a theatre show is my favorite Lightning Lane thing in Animal Kingdom. I don't really have much to say about it outside of it being a lot of fun and I mean, my favorite thing about Lion King is the music so how could I not enjoy a show with people doing honestly pretty amazing covers of said songs? Plus a lot of the "acts" during the different songs are just so fun to watch.

2.) Kilimanjaro Safaris - Probably the most fun "ride" in the park, and is only really held back by the fact that it's not only long, but the ride time can vary a lot since the animals are free roaming so for all you know, your ride could get massively delayed because of animals getting in the path of your tram and that could mess up your plans. And the whole thing of it involving live animals really does mean that it's more or less pure luck determining how many/which animals you could see. You can apparently increase your chances of seeing more animals by going early or late, but I feel like just having to be there at certain times of day to not have to risk basically not seeing anything loses points?

3.) Na'Vi River Journey - This ride is probably the definition of boring but harmless for me. I've never seen the movie Avatar so I'm not going to get anything from seeing the different types of animals in the environment and while the animatronic at the end is cool, I also can't say it's something I'd be willing to wait in a long line for or even really willing to use a Lightning Lane on.

4.) DINOSAUR - I feel like this would be ranked higher if I wasn't a bit of a wimp, because I can't deny, this ride actually kind of scares me a little. It's very dark for the most part, and there's a lot of loud noises, especially near the end, that combined with the jerk movements of the truck and moments where the dinosaurs effectively jumpscare you make this one I can't really ride that often. I am going to check it out when it gets re-themed to Indiana Jones, see if I enjoy that more.

5.) It's Tough to Be a Bug - For the most part, it's just a short little theater show to more or less waste ten minutes on between other rides or if you want to sit down for a few before going to the buses for another park to head back to your resort. It's mostly at the bottom because of the "stinkbug" part and I don't love the part of the show where Hopper takes over and it becomes a bit of a horror show. Likely end up ranking it higher when the Zootopia show replaces it.

Now for the N/A rides/attractions

1.) Finding Nemo: The Big Blue...and Beyond - Honestly sounds like something I might enjoy, since it's just a little stage show using puppets of Finding Nemo characters with original songs. I just haven't gotten around to watching it, partly because it's like half an hour and since I can't deny Animal Kingdom is my least favorite park, I'd kinda rather use those 30 minutes taking the bus to another park that I'll probably have more to do at.

2.) Kali River Rapids - I just don't like water rides, personally. That is pretty much the only reason I have no interest in this ride. I've heard it's possible to go on it and barely get wet, but that seems to be completely random and I don't want to have to wear a poncho or something on a ride to avoid having to walk around in wet clothes. Plus, I feel like if you want to avoid getting wet on water rides....you're kinda missing the point?

3.) Feathered Friends in Flight - Really just not comfortable with the idea of having live birds flying around me in a somewhat enclosed space. I do assume they're all trained, but still, those are animals with minds of their own and I feel like the whole time I'd be too busy worrying if one them would start flying at me to enjoy the show.

4.) Expedition Everest - I'm not someone who can handle roller coasters that are too intense, and this really is outside of what I'm personally able to handle. Even without the huge drop near the end, I feel like I'd struggle with the backwards section, since it seems to go on for quite a while and at a fast speed.

D23 Haul

Eh. No Kingdom Hearts. No Big Hero 6, that would've made everything worth it but I feel like lately companies have been showing too much too early. Here's Incredibles 3...it's happening, dunno what it's going to be, when or anything else but it's coming! Frozen 3, concept art, 3 years from now...which is so far away that I wouldn't even plan on getting people's hopes up, look at Beyond the Spiderverse, where is that? I don't mind waiting for it but they set that original date too soon, it wasn't just the strike, it was that they weren't even ready for it to begin with, it was a pipe dream and only makes people more wary when something gets delayed. I thought we learned this from CP2077 but apparently nobody learns anything.

On a positive note, I'll allow the Lilo and Stitch one even though Detective Pikachu set the standard for those designs but it had a cool intro. Tron at least had a cool laser and Nine Inch Nails (though no actual music reveal) Zootopia and Moana did great. Snow White actually got a trailer. Toy Story told us what it was about (even though it sounds tacky and seems in part with the og TS2 concept)

The parks. Yeah, we're gonna have a Lion King Land and an Encanto Land and a Frozen Land and a Villain Land- "Well, when is that?" Uh, yeah, left on read, so we have pictures! "That's concept art. That's not going to be how it'll look." Come back to me when you have models or animatronics and did you really just tell us that LK Land was based on the 1994 movie and show us concept art for the 2019 one? AND it's just Splash Mountain but with Pride Rock? You've had since 1994 to think something up and that's it?

Look at all the hotel concept arts to what they ended up being. So you're telling me that you won't (not 'can't', 'won't') spring for a new dragon for Fantasmic (which is literally on the poster for it) but you'll make a whole side-park for villains and add a dragon. And the walking mat...yeah, that's cool technology but that's all you're showing. You didn't incorporate it into anything. "Yeah, we're going to use this in the future...for something!" It's all tentative.

Well, what about the games? They had a big presentation set out after announcing that they wanted to get back into games. The stream actually taking place within Fortnite. They had an Epic Mickey panel celebrating its remaster and original release. They have all these Marvel games in the works, Kingdom Hearts (of course) and rumors that the Disney Afternoon cast will join in Fortnite, a vague Epic Games collaboration announced earlier in the year. So what did we get? I'll start a bingo card...Oh...it started a half hour later than scheduled. Ok? Oh, it has the leaders with Dave Filoni, Pete Docter, Kevin Feige and Jennifer Lee and they each have something to announce. Ok, Disney Villains in Fortnite. More concept art. Ok? The Incredibles in Fortnite. Ok, a picture. IG-11 with Baby Yoda backpack and Moff Gideon coming next week. Ok, this is all Fortnite, maybe they'll get that out of the way first. A bunch of Marvel cast which was inevitable as they have most in there already, ok. Black. Huh? Black? Oh, it's over, they didn't say bye, they didn't say anything else, just DONE, mic drop. You needed a whole event and panel that was delayed...for some skins?

I thought they were holding back throughout the year to save stuff for the game event but no, they were actually just trying to scrape the barrel to make stuff for it, maybe that's why they delayed it, they realized that they didn't have anything and had to try to get everybody that got applause on stage. They didn't seem to know what they were doing, like these people were thrown in, quickly briefed to add a quick word before grab the wheel and show it. It reminded me of trying to stretch out my powerpoint in college to meet the 5 minute runtime.

Show me stuff, sure, there was no shortage overall but I feel like concept -> production -> marketing -> release should be how it goes but lately it's all been combined with production taking a backseat and release still on the GPS. Show me earlier stuff at an event like D23 but make it past the concept stage first, show me production!

They design it to generate hype so much before the fact that by the time it actually releases, you feel like you've seen everything and nothing is no longer a surprise. "Oh yeah, Incredibles 3 is coming out. I could've expected that but now it's real and I heard about it 20 years ago." It's not just Disney, it's every corporation, I see it with game shows. Oh...a title card...oh...CONCEPT ART. I love concept art but it's more something I like to see AFTER THE FACT as bonus of seeing 'we went from here to where we are now!' but I see the whole journey now, I don't need the after the fact, you're not investing in your future, you're investing in your now so that investors will see this, it's no secret, it's not about the mainstream fans anymore that actually do most of the promoting for you and give it the returns. It's a bunch of rich people buying into other rich people and the audience just happens to be outside fueling it.

having autism abt theme parks and hating disney is such a hard job. they’re working on an animatronic that can realistically roller skate, fall over WHILE skating and get up like a person learning to skate for the first time and that’s so so cool to me but also it has the visage of the zootopia cop rabbit
