how was Zuko's boyfriend handled in the play?
Like Katara, you are sexualized and turned into what amounts to a go-go dancer, your actor's dialogue full of innuendo. In a scene filled with Fire Nation propoganda, it is implied you seduced Iroh with a sexy dance in the tea shop. Since the director wanted to use Zuko and Katara as the main couple, your relationship with Zuko is entirely omitted, and you end up with Sokka after he mistakes your face for a dumpling and kisses it.
You are absolutely disgusted, although Toph sees the humor in it, of course. You and Sokka and Suki share awkward glanced.

Hi , i don’t know if u do hcs but what headcannons would u have for firelord zuko regarding kinks?
I do HCs just not that much, I'll do headcnaons every time I feel lazy or too busy with uni work. But yes I do have headcanons for Zuko's kinks, although are they just my kinks, the world will never know
Tumblr media
He definitely has a breeding kink in my mind. And quite specifically a breeding his heirs into you kink.
Probably doesn't always talk about it, but when you beg him to fill you up, he can't help but tell you to give him an heir, to get all full with his baby.
The thought of having you swollen with the crown prince or princess to the Fire Nation is so arousing to him.
He also has a thing for titles, but not you calling him titles, but him calling you titles.
Despite the fact that he's technically higher status, even when you're his consort, he's still gonna call you by your title
"My sweet boy, your highness, my lord" (as he's fucking you)
Stuff like that.
Semi public sex is his thing too
Having sex on his throne, bouncing you up and down on his cock while he sits on his throne is so hot.
Knowing anyone could walk through the curtained entrance to the throne room
And he has also had some dirty fantasies about actually public sex, claiming you in a war meeting, maybe one of the generals flirts with you so he just fucks you in front of them
And of course a temperature play kink. He's gonna heat his hands up just enough to excite you and push his fingers into you

૮ • ﻌ - ა Betrothed ~ Alpha FireLord Zuko x Omega male reader
Tumblr media
Word Count: 3.1k
Plot: Even after his father had been overruled, Zuko couldn't experience true freedom; bound by his duty as Firelord Part of that duty was of course, as an Alpha, to find a mate and continue the lineage of the fire nation. But when the Firelord is brought a familiar face by the royal matchmaker, he's put at ease
Warnings: Sfw & Nsfw / MDNI ~ amab m!reader / FDNI
Tumblr media
Zuko felt uncomfortable - both physically and emotionally. Physically, the Firelord was uncomfortable from the head to toe Firelord get-up; his advisors insisted he wear traditional Alphan Firelord clothing to his matchmaking appointment. He was deemed one of the luckiest men in the world, an Alpha born into not only wealth but royalty, but those blessings came with their own limitations. Zuko wanted to choose his partner, he wouldn't care about their secondary gender or status, the alpha just wanted the real love he had been deprived of all his life - and that was the root of his emotional discomfort. Nonetheless, as FireLord, he had a duty to his people and his honour, so Zuko was willing to go through with whatever was about to come.
As the matchmaker walks into the arranged meeting room, Zuko's nerves turn 10 fold - but he, of course, doesn't let that show, a simple chill running up his spine instead. He watches as the evidently Beta woman places down her folder and a packet of scent patches, sneaking a peak at her notes when she opens her folder; many graphs of scent compatibility catch Zuko's eyes along with his profile, clearly, this woman takes her job seriously. After the matchmaker introduces herself, she hands out scent patches to any Alphas or Omegas in the room, allowing for Zuko to only be able to smell his soon-to-be mate and as to not overwhelm the Omega - afterwards, the woman starts to give a brief rundown of what will occur. Zuko listens attentively as he fidgets with his fingers beneath the table: the omega will walk in, she will read his brief information, and the two will greet and scent each other's wrists, if Zuko accepts the Omega then any advisors and herself will leave the room for the two to talk. It felt like the woman was talking forever, the FireLord's heart beating quicker and quicker by the second, but once she finally stopped, Zuko's head snapped to look at the door as the matchmaker stood up to let his future mate into the room. The last thing Zuko expected to see was his childhood friend - you, [Name], [Last Name].
"[Name]?!" Zuko stutters out, going to stand up but his advisors ease him to sit back down
"Ah! Zuk-..." You stopped yourself when you saw the matchmaker's face, procedures had to be followed to a tee according to her. You make your way to the table Zuko was sitting at and bow with grace
"FireLord Zuko, it's an honor"
Holy shit, your voice had such an immense effect on Zuko, the title of FireLord rolling off of your tongue perfectly. You were dressed in traditional clothing, ridiculously adorned with Fire Nation accessories, the sleeves of your clothing long enough to cover your hands as you nodded and bowed - you looked enthralling. Zuko had never seen you in this light, his contact with you having been cut before your secondary gender had shown itself, but man, did you really grow into a full Omega. Your scent was surprisingly the last thing the Alpha had noticed, but once he took a note of it, it was all the man could think of; a soft smell of flowers and cotton, it reminded Zuko of the happy portion of his childhood, but most of all it made his inner Alpha flare up like mad. The matchmaker starts to read off your information as you sit down in front of the royal, the both of you fighting smiles.
"[Name] of the affluent fire nation family of [Last Name]. Overall healthy with a blood type and astrological match with the FireLord. Most importantly, a 98% match between their pheromones. His fire bending is passable, but he passed the top of his class in fire healing. He has etiquette training, cooking, cleaning, and even medicinal skills as well as a fertility of 0.7 - one of the highest in the nation."
You cringed at all of your personal, embarrassing details were read off and watched as Zuko's advisors checked off on their little clipboards - but all of your negative emotions vanish when you catch Zuko's eyes, the warm smile on his face putting you at ease immediately. His scent was not only calming and anything but overwhelming, but it also felt like it was perfect for you, it was like gold was running through your veins every time you took a breath. The two of you snapped out of your infatuated dazes from the matchmaker coughing to draw attention. Zuko's advisors mumbled amongst themselves and then one whispered to Zuko, which resulted in a smile from the handsome Alpha which was followed by a nod - then, the next thing you knew, Zuko was holding out his wrist.
"May I scent you, [Name]?" Zuko asked, initiating the scenting with his voice smooth like silk. You immediately agree and rub the scent gland on your wrist against Zuko's, your muscles instantly fully relaxing as his scent sticks to your gland. The two of you watch as all surrounding people leave the two of you alone and sit in a brief silence; that is until Zuko softly breaks it. Usual small talk turns into friendly catching up, Zuko being interested in your life after the two of you were forced apart by life - you'd both talked about missing and thinking about each other and how you'd even witnessed Zuko's Agni-kai with his father. Over the half an hour that the two of you talked, your hands slowly crept closer together until Zuko's strong hand had its slender fingers intertwined with yours. Just before his advisors interrupted the two of you, Zuko asked a question that shocked you
"Do you want to be my mate?"
Zuko knew the two of you had no choice in the matter, but because of his history with you, and his previous and current soft spot for you, he would want anything but to keep you in a forced relationship for his own benefit. After a short silence, a soft nod from you put Zuko's heart at ease; but that peace was only shortly lived until his advisors walked in and had you two follow along, the life of royalty barely giving the Alpha a chance to breathe. The two of you walked behind Zuko's head advisor, his other few trailing behind you both - and even they couldn't help but notice how right you two looked walking next to one another. After being escorted to your new shared bedroom, Zuko's advisors planned to take Zuko away to further discuss your relationship; however, a wrench had been thrown into their plans when Zuko immediately disagreed, demanding that a discussion that surrounds you should include you. The way that the Alpha stood up for you made you beam internally, a small smile making its way onto your face, and with no room for argument, you left the room with Zuko and his advisors towards the meeting room. Passing by the throne room, the two of you notice some workers build you a throne as they did for Zuko - those advisors work really quick it seems - the both of you take into account how Zuko's is taller and positioned just a little higher than yous...
"We propose that the wedding happens by the end of the month" the lead advisor begins the discussion. The scene isn't necessarily foreign to you, your father having you sit in on meeting with the previous FireLord in this very room, a large table sits in the middle of the room, Zuko is positioned at the head with you next to him (kneeling in the floor) as his advisors sit at the opposite end.
"Isn't that a little too soon? Can't we have it by the end of the year?" Zuko argues, clearly not wanting to rush a delicate process
"One month is quite generous already, Lord Zuko... You must pull your nation together, a royal wedding is the type of celebration you need - the sooner the better, ten months is far too long" another advisor pops up
"One month isn't even enough time for me to properly court [Name]" Zuko fights back, a calm demeanour on his face as he looks towards you and smiles
"My Lord, the Omega isn't the priority at this point in time, keep in mind you also need to provide an heir" the main advisor explains
"An heir? I understand the wedding, but the throne will receive an heir when the two of us so wish!" Zuko's tone shifts, clearly offended at the suggestion that your purpose in this marriage is to pop out pups
"Why don't we compromise to five months?" You pipe up, fidgeting with your sleeves as you look at the advisors
A short silence fills the room
"Don't speak during a meeting, Omega" one of Zuko's advisors says to break the silence. All of them were thinking it, he was just stupid enough to say it
"I beg your pardon? Leave" Zuko demands, his tone devoid of emotion, and when the advisor protests, one look towards his guards has them remove the advisor from Zuko's meeting room.
"U-Uhm- Five months is acceptable, thank you" The lead advisor acknowledges your point, the first time you'd even been looked in the eyes by one of Zuko's trusted men
After the awkward meeting that surrounded your near and far future, the rest of your day reflected the whirlwind prior, sorting out royal duties and meeting Palace staff. But as the sun began to set and you made your way back to your room, Zuko stopped you
"Yes, my Lord?" You ask, looking up into Zuko's eyes with soft, tired eyes
"Y'know you can just call me Zuko..." The alpha blushes, the title really affecting him only when it came from your soft lips
"Haha... sorry, guess my training really did work" you chuckle
"Hmhm... was it really that intense?" Zuko asks as he starts to walk with you to the royal bedroom
"I mean... if you'd say 4 hours of etiquette training and 3 hours of learning how to please an Alpha a day is intense then yeah" you say with a sly smirk, the sarcasm in your voice evident
"Wow... I didn't even know... I've only ever had the regular royalty lessons" Zuko mumbles, closing the door behind you
"Yeah... even if I come from an affluent family, my secondary gender makes me get treated like a mutt" you say with a smile
"Well, I promise you... I won't let that happen around here if I can help it." Zuko says sincerely, holding your hand in his firmly. The sweet gesture makes you blush, your words failing to come out of your mouth; your scent glands running rampant from receiving basic respect for once in your life! After a few minutes of silence, looking into each other's eyes while blushing and breathing in each other's scents, Zuko suggests the two of you get to bed. You have to rip your eyes away from the Alpha as he lets his hair down, stripping off his heavy attire to his bare chest.
"Ah! Sorry! I'll step into the bathroom if you need" Zuko says with a worried look on his face as your insane scent snaps him out of his thoughts; your blushed face and eyes fixed on his toned body really giving away that your instincts were taking over.
"No! Sorry! Oh my, I'm so sorry!" You shout, tearing your eyes away and turning around embarrassed. Zuko chuckles and continues to change, but the same ordeal repeats when you begin to change - however, it was even more intense as the Alpha was practically drooling at the sight of your bare skin.
Sleep was very needed after such a chaotic day, and after a chaotic week, and a chaotic month. At some point, Zuko asked for your permission to court you, proposing with the crown given to the FireLord's mate; and of course, you agreed. Life started to seem less chaotic after that. Zuko would shower you with gifts every day and ensure to spend at least 4 hours a day with you, taking you out on dates to prestigious restaurants and on smaller dates in the Palace Gardens; it was enjoyable, it was the secondary school experience the two of you never had, having either been in private tutoring or single gender private school. It was also very evident that the two of you had never had your firsts in everything, of course, because of valid reasons; Zuko had been exiled near the time his secondary gender had come through! And you were under strict orders to stay untouched until you were mated, being collared for most of your life. But still, it was very evident that you two were massive virgins.
Point A: When Zuko proposed to court you with the priceless, beautiful artefact of the Royal family, you hugged him. The way that the Alpha turned red within seconds, his pheromones suffocating you, Zuko desperate to keep you in his touch as he scented you. It was clear that the young FireLord had never had even physical contact with an Omega.
Point B: The first kiss that the two of you shared. On a small picnic date in the gardens of the Palace under the moonlight a month into the alpha courting you, Zuko asked to kiss you. And holy shit when he did, the two of you were inseparable. Your lips were stuck to Zuko's for an entire half an hour, his tongue devouring your mouth as Zuko was taken over by his inner Alpha, pushing you gently to the ground and hovering above you. Your pheromones and his were running rampant, mixing in the air to make a stunning aroma, your moans were music to the Alpha's ears as your stomach did flips just from kissing Zuko. You could feel how hard Zuko was as he was grinding against you, desperate to feel you, desperate to have whatever he's been craving since he presented. Luckily, some guards stopped the two of you from doing anything that would get you into trouble.
Point C: Zuko is only 20, jealousy is understandable. So when Sokka paid a visit to the Palace and required your healing after doing something stupid, Zuko had never felt what he felt in those few minutes. You, seeing another Alpha naked, touching his body to heal him with your fire, you'd never done that for Zuko! His pheromones were sour and his chest hurt, and once Sokka made his way to the guest room and you and Zuko to your own room, the Alpha demanded to know if you were infatuated by his water tribe friend. It was so evident that even seeing someone else's naked body was a high level of intimacy to Zuko, and even to you, it was at the time. But after kissing for the whole night, the Alpha's hands roaming your body gently, his jealousy faded away.
Eventually, the two of you made it official, Zuko's advisors already scheduling the wedding for the end of that week. The nation was ecstatic, hundreds of thousands of people either showed up or read about your wedding and mating to the Firelord. And that night, after finally getting permission from his advisors, Zuko set his eyes on marking you...
That night was intense, and it went on for ages, so here's a brief recap:
Once the two of you were basically locked in your bedroom by your advisors, Zuko decided to initiate
He held you against the door, and after gaining permission from you, looked down into your fucking sexy eyes, held your chin up to him and quickly started to kiss you
The Alpha held your waist and your chin, his tongue dominating you along with his insanely powerful and attractive scent
The two of you made your way to the king-sized bed without breaking the kiss once - Zuko on top of you as he undressed you
Once the two of you were naked, all hell broke loose
Your legs were placed onto the Alpha's broad shoulders, his two slender fingers immediately going to your slick-leaking hole
Moans filled the grand room along with a rich aroma of your scent mixed with Zuko's
You had cum already just from Zuko's fingers, and once he had licked up all of your sweet, sterile cum, Zuko aimed his huge Alphan cock at the entrance of your hole
The two of you went at it for what felt like hours, your bodies covered in sweat and scent glands releasing so many pheromones that they were beginning to liquefy and pool by your glands
Your hole had been stretched long ago, taking the shape of Zuko's huge, veiny dick
Eventually, Zuko couldn't hold back anymore, knotting you and cumming in unison with his Omega - the two of you taking the opportunity to fulfil your duty and mark each other
With that out of the way, the two of you spent the rest of the night making passionate love to one another, pleasuring each other in so many ways that your combined orgasm count for the night was 17! Luckily you two are literally built to have shit tons of sex!
And after that night, the two of you couldn't get enough of each other after finally tasting what you had been missing
For now, you were on the most expensive birth control - pills made in the earth kingdom using natural herbs and minerals that are almost 99% effective at keeping you and Zuko from providing an heir a little too early
So with the worries of pups out of the way, you two would go at it like... well... Alpha and Omega
Heats were insane but well spent with Zuko, the Alpha eating you out and fingering you for an hour minimum, making you orgasm plenty of times before satisfying the burn in your stomach with his huge cock
Zuko's ruts were when shit really hit the fan, his advisors would have to leave the palace and have it guarded for the week it lasted - luckily they were rarer than your heats
In summary, your Chambers walls have seen many things: from you worshipping the Alphan Firelord's body to Zuko letting you, the light of his life his Omega, ride him like a toy without permission to touch you
And in the future, once you two are ready for pups, Zuko can't wait to be the father he never had - and he knows that seeing you as a dad and caring for his pups will further awaken something within him he never knew he had before meeting you

I was wondering if you could do a Zuko x male reader fic? I’ve been scouring everywhere for male reader fics sob😭
I told you so (It was always about you)
Tumblr media
Summary: You're worried about life after the war, really you're worried about life without Zuko. Too bad you're as love blind as Toph is blind. Pairing: Zuko x waterbender!male!reader WC: 7.4k TW: its hinted about reader being trans, readers mother asking about grandkids a/n: this was gonna be sm longer but I haven't posted in agesssss
“Katara,” You softly call in front of her tent. It’s the dead of night, four days before Aang is supposed to be fighting Ozai and you’re in front of Katara’s tent, nervously picking at your hair ribbon. “Katara!” You call again, leaning close to the fabric.
“Huh?” She opens the flap to the tent, only able to see with the dying campfire behind you.
“Can I come in?” You whisper and she tiredly nods, rolling back over to her spot so you can enter. Settling on your knees on top of a hide blanket, you close the tent and watch as she lights a lantern.
Patting your fingers against your bare knees, you look around her tent. It’s mostly the same as the others Zuko has bought, but she has her clothes neatly folded next to her pillow with her necklace set securely under the pillow.
“Why aren’t you asleep yet?” She asks through a yawn and you nod, even though it wasn’t a yes or no question.
“I uh… I need to ask you something…” You trail and she nods, propping herself on her arm. “Do you think… do you think Zuko will stay with us after Aang defeats Ozai?” She raises an eyebrow, it's well into the night and you kept yourself up for hours, mulling over that question. “It’s just… he’ll become Fire Lord and he’ll be busy. What if he forgets m- us?” Ah, she blinks, that’s why you’re worried.
“He won’t forget you,” She reassures, putting a hand on top of your hand and your eyes widen before you move your hand from under hers.
“I wasn’t talking about—“ Lowering your voice, you clear your throat. “I wasn’t talking about me, I meant the whole group.” You shake your head, looking off towards the tent's entrance to see if you had woken anyone up. “We’re all his friends, not just me.” Awkwardly chuckling, you rise and wave your hand. “Forget I even said anything, I’m just tired. Pre-battle nerves and everything…” Without protesting, Katara watches as you stand up and open the door of sorts to the tent, nearly tripping on your way up.
“He won’t leave you.” She says as you leave her tent.
Regretting not bringing a blanket with you, you look at the moon and run your hands along your arms for warmth before going back to finding your tent in the near pitch-black area Aang has decided to stop at for the night. It doesn’t take long to find your tent, though since standing in front of your tent, you see Zuko standing with a small flame in the palm of his hand.
“You okay?” You ask and he turns around, the flame flickering with the sudden movement. His shoulders settle as he sees you and the flame dies down just a bit, just enough that you can fully see him when you’re close enough.
“I heard you yelling,” He admits, keeping his voice down in case he woke anyone up. If only you’d been as good. “Why were you in Katata’s tent?” He takes notice of your fundoshi and sarashi and you shake your head, gesturing back to her tent.
“I was asking her a question…about… water bending.” He slowly nods, not believing your very obvious lie but doesn’t press on. “So…” Looking away from him, you chew the inside of your cheek and sigh, trying to find something to say.
“So…?” He repeats.
“Future Fire Lord, amirite?” Lightly punching his arm, you immediately curse yourself. “I mean— like, with Aang and your dad and stuff…?” He blinks, once and then twice. “I’m just… y'know?” Looking at the moon, you squint. “Look at the moon! It’s late! I better go to sleep now, goodnight!” Darting into your tent, you push yourself to the furthest corner and watch as Zuko stands there for a couple of seconds before he clears his throat.
“Yes, goodnight.” He says before walking away. Sighing, you pinch the bridge of your nose and allow yourself to sit in pure embarrassment until you eventually fall asleep.
Katara had come around fully to the idea of Zuko, something about being next to your sorta enemy while deciding not to kill your mother's killer brought them closer together. It was nice.
Everyone had been sort of relaxed during their stay at his father's empty beach house but you were still on edge. Staying in Ozai’s own beach house was risky, he could decide he finally wanted a dip in the ocean and show up. Especially with Sokka and Suki exploring into town, word could spread. Even if Zuko didn’t share the same sentiment.
“Calm down,” Toph grunts as she shoves your calf. Stumbling onto a pillar, you glare at her. “I’d feel if anyone was around.” That was true, you supposed. Sighing, you decide to give it a rest looking around the surrounding area of the house, and settle next to Toph. She and Katara were watching Aang and Zuko practice their Fire Bending, you tried not to watch. It only reminded you that you could possibly die in a horrible fire, feeling the water leave your body until you become a crisp husk of yourself.
Toph, clearly feeling your worry huffs and grabs your shirt before pulling you down. Forcing you to lay on your back, she hums and closes her eyes. Doing the same, you instead think about nearly anything else. Even try to clear your mind, although you only think airbenders can truly do that.
“Doesn’t it seem kind of weird that we’re hiding from the Fire Lord in his own house?” Katara asks sometime later, once the two finish up their training.
“I told you, my father hadn’t come here since our family was actually happy,” Zuko explains, his seventh time explaining that exact point. Sitting up, you catch him wiping the sweat from his head. “And that was a long time ago. It’s the last place anyone would think to look for us,” He adds, staring at you.
“You guys are not gonna believe this!” Sokka exclaims as he rushes into the courtyard with Suki behind him, a rolled-up paper in his grip. “There’s a play about us!”
“We were just in town and we found this poster.” Looking at the picture on the poster, you cover your mouth and listen as Sokka and Suki read the poster. It sounds horrid. Zuko knows it’ll be horrible. Katara doesn’t want to go.
As such, everyone goes.
“Why don’t the girls sit up there and the boys sit down there?” Katara grins, already shoving Sokka from the bench next to Suki. She grins at you, motioning with her eyes to Zuko.
“Why?” Aang frowns, clearly trying to set you up was affecting Aang trying to set him and Katara up.
“She clearly wants the better view!” Sokka almost shouts. Everyone shushes him and looks around.
“Why don’t we just sit where we want?” Toph groans, plopping down on the outside of the lower bench. “My feet can’t even see from up here!” Katara shares Aang’s frown and slumps down next to Toph.
“I’ll tell your feet what’s happening,” She promises, barely registering that Zuko sat next to her. There was more space on the top bench but you were sure you didn’t want to sit next to the couple and took the spot next to Zuko. Aang sighs and takes the seat next to Sokka.
The play starts, opening with the actors that played Katara and Sokka on their canoe. Katara’s actress is… something. From the first word, you check out.
“I told them,” Zuko whispered when the two started to complain. Only Toph seems to be enjoying the play.
“We could leave,” You grin, catching the actor freeing the girl playing Aang. He thinks about it, genuinely thinks about it but he’s enjoying Aang complaining about his own character until ‘Zuko’ and ‘Iroh’ show up.
“They make me look totally stiff and humorless,” He complains. As much as you don’t want to say it, it’s the most accurate portrayal of the group so far.
“Actually, I think that actors are spot on,” Katara muses.
“How could you say that?” He gasps at the same time his actor says the same thing.
“We should leave,” He agrees and goes to stand up but Sokka pushes him down. Eventually, the scene where they meet your actor appears. The actor playing you is… something. He’s a quiet actor, hunching himself over and running away from any source of fire. Then, there’s only one scene with Yue, her death. Immediately after it’s the scene where you found out about her death. Your actor, for the first and only time in the play, blows up and yells at Sokka. Nearly killing him by accidentally freezing him.
The play wasn’t wasn’t completely wrong in that sense.
It wasn’t something you were proud of, no matter how much Sokka swore it was water under the bridge.
“Do you want to leave?” Zuko whispers, grabbing your hand. Probably to make it quicker if the two of you decided to leave. Nothing else.
“Do you?” You ask, looking over at him. Yes, yes, you fucking wanted to leave the play. This whole thing was a stupid idea.
“I never wanted to stay,” He blinks, and yeah, that’s true.
As quietly as possible, as Katara is busy explaining to Toph, as Aang is trying to strike up a conversation with Katara, and Suki and Sokka are lightly arguing about his portrayal, the two of you leave the theater.
The intermission would be soon, anyway.
“I didn’t know you did that,” Zuko says but judging by his face, he immediately regrets his words.
“I thought he killed my sister,” You humorlessly laugh, leaning against the banister. “What was I supposed to do? Not kill him,”
“That’s reasonable,” He agrees, his thumb running across the flesh of your hand. He feels the curves of your knuckles, the dips of the scar left there from a fight with an earthbender. He still thinks punching the rock was stupid. You watch, looking at your intertwined fingers.
Ever since that night in the tent, Zuko has been acting strange. He’s been more touchy, he actively seeks you out in the group, and he's a bit more awkward with you. Toph, whenever they’re alone, always teases him about it.
A stupid part of you, so you’ve dubbed it, thinks he could feel the same way. The rational part of you thinks he’s committing you to memory, so when he leaves for good he won’t forget you.
“Do you want something to eat?” He asks, long after the two of you stood in the silence that took over the balcony, the both of you staring at your hands.
“No,” You shake your head a little. “I’m good here. You?”
“I’m good here, too.”
In truth, you were surprised that Zuko had picked you over Katara to join him in fighting Azula. You don’t think you were as good as her, close, but not to her level. She was better on her feet while your biggest issue was second-guessing yourself.
“The sky’s lovely,” You admit, holding Appa’s reins tightly.
“It is.” Zuko says without ever looking up. His eyes are cast towards Appa’s fur, he refuses to look at anything else. Not until Appa starts to descend towards the palace.
Azula is on her knees, about to be crowned in front of no one. There’s no crowd other than the officials around her.
“Sorry, but you’re not gonna become Firelord today.” Zuko says before leaping off of Appa. “I am.” She laughs and you stare at her hair. It’s a mess, the worst you’ve ever seen them. They’re cut unevenly, but not on purpose. Her top knot is sloppy done and everything else is a mess.
    “You’re hilarious,”
“You want to be Firelord? Fine. Let’s settle this. Just you and me, brother. The showdown that was always meant to be—“ She grins, baring her teeth down at Zuko. “Agni Kai!”
“You’re on.” Zuko agrees. While you don’t agree to let Zuko fight her alone; the both of you know Azula wouldn’t be able to fight the two of you straight on, her only chance would be a one-on-one.  But if  Zuko agrees, you’ll let him. If push comes to shove, you won’t be far.
As they prepare for the Agni Kai, you fly Appa away. Far enough that he’s away from any attacks that might come his way. When you return, you return to a wall of blue and yellow fire splitting down the middle. It’s pushing Zuko back but it doesn’t seem to care. The sounds of the fire are damn near horrifying, you hear it from all around you, and feel the warmth of their fires as they fly around, setting everything around it ablaze.
Eventually, Azula is knocked back and Zuko yells about her lightning. Taunting her for being scared but she swears she isn’t and prepares her strike. It’s a last-second decision, as she fires her shot and you notice it isn’t heading for Zuko but for you.  He notices and jumps in front, clutching the strike to his chest before he falls. Sparks fizzle around him as you rush over but Azula fires at you.
Her attention is no longer on her brother, he’s as good as dead in her eyes.
Thankfully, though, the area is surrounded by water. It’s not a lot, though. Most of it evaporates by the second stream of fire she sends your way and you dive behind a pillar. There are stripes of fire all around you, and you don’t know what to do. You could grab Zuko and leave or you could fight. You could try and heal Zuko and the two of you fight but you don’t know if that’ll work.
“Running away?” She cackles, flying down using her fire. Grabbing some of the water that was on the other side of the area, you use it to put distance between the two of you. Eventually, you run out of water and are forced into a new area as Azula throws a burst of fire at you. It nicks at your skin and you bite your tongue, holding back the yell of pain. Tripping, you notice that the floors have metal gates. Peering inside, you thank the spirits. Running water.
Grabbing chains used to keep the doors closed, you wait for Azula.
“There you are, Water Prince.” Azula sneers, standing in front of you. She takes two steps forward, waiting for you to do something. But you just need her to get closer. Sending a spray of water to her left, she dives right and straight to you, readying herself to lightning strike you.
Her fingers nearly touch you, but you raise your arms, pulling the water below the two of you high and wide enough that she couldn’t possibly get out of it. It freezes around her almost instantly and you quickly wrap her arms in the chains before locking it to the grate.
Giving them a tug, they don’t budge and you drop the water back into the grate. She struggles, gasping for air but you go back to Zuko.
He’s still in pain, writhing on the ground as you flip him onto his back. Pulling some water from the pouch Katara had gifted you, you try your best to heal his wound. You had only learned the basics of healing, before your father eventually ‘came to his senses’ and put you in training with the boys.
But it’s good enough, as the water glows and he seems to be in less pain.
“Thank you, (Y/n).” He mutters, his eyes barely open. “But you should heal yourself.” His hand raises, ghosting over the burnt skin of your neck.
“I’ll be fine,” You croak, pulling his hand down to his side. “Worry about Azula.” Helping him up, the two of you watch as she yells out, spitting fire before collapsing to the floor and sobbing.
“What will you—“
“She’s still my sister,” He says, watching as she falls asleep, still crying. He nods to one of the advisors and leans on you for support, letting you guide him back to Appa. “And she needs help. My father, should Aang spare his life, will go to prison.”
For his coronation, Zuko had requested that everyone come dressed in their best traditional wear. And not Fire Nation traditional. He had specifically asked for everyone to wear their traditional clothes and accessories, asking everyone to spare no detail. And with a month to prepare, you think you did quite well with your outfit.
Sliding your norigae through your left ear, you admire the crescent moon pendant and untangle the soft blue string hanging below it. It brushes against your ivory choker, one that’s similar to Sokka’s but his choker is thicker with one row while yours is five thinner rows of bone.
“You look good,” Looking behind you in the mirror, you thank Suki and see she’s wearing her Kyoshi Warriors uniform.
“I’m feeling a bit overdressed if I’m being honest.” You chuckle, staring at your many, many layers. The most noticeable of a long piece of fabric going down between your legs, resting just above your ankles with careful pattern stitching that matches your putter shirt. It’s connected to your outer jacket, but you can’t tell with your whale hide belt and tiger seal fleece sort of skirt. It doesn’t connect in the front, but that’s what your mothers always called it.
“It’s nice,” She shakes her head. “You should see what Toph is wearing.” She adds and you turn around to face her. “She’s waiting in the main room with Katara.” Crap, you knew you shouldn’t have taken so long.
“Oh, am I the last one?” At that, Suki laughs and puts her hands on her hips.
“Sokka isn’t even out of the bath yet,” Of course he isn’t. While you might be the most overdressed, at least you weren’t the last person dressed. You shake your head and thank her again, leaving for the main room.
Once you’re there, you see Toph is sitting on the sofa, sitting as comfortably as she can when she’s wearing something so far from her comfort zone.
Her typical headband is replaced with a golden kuitou with several pom-poms and gems. Her hair is mostly the same, but she’s swept the middle part of her bands to either side. You’ve never seen that much of her forehead before. She’s also wearing a heziqun, a tube top of sorts, worn over her quin, which is a long silky skirt— wait, those are just really loose pants. Smart. She’s also got on a zhai xu, the sleeves part of her dress. Her pibo, the long thin scarf that’s typically draped over her arms, is sitting on the couch next to her.
“Don’t say a word,” She says, her eyes snapping to you.
“Wasn’t going to,” You hum, taking a seat next to her.
Katara is across from you, wearing an outfit similar to your own but hers is distinctly from the Southern Water Tribe.
“Don’t be nervous,” Toph grins over at you and you curse under your breath, she’s not wearing shoes. “You’ll see your boyfriend soon enough.” She pats your shoulder, faking a pout.
“Not my boyfriend,” You purse your lips, there’s no way you’re going to go back and forth on this with a child.
“If you say so,” She loudly sighs and stretches. “But when you get married I want to be your best man.”
“I don’t think so,” Okay, fine, maybe you were going to give in a little. Just a smidge. She frowns and punches your arm. “Ow! Toph, there are no groomsmen in Water Tribe weddings! But I would totally go to you for the ring,”
“Good,” She nods. “I know you have horrible taste in gems. You’d probably want something basic like a diamond.” She makes a face as she says it and Katara rolls her eyes.
“I was thinking something like agate or azurite,” You’re not entirely sure where to find those, but once you do, it’s over for them.
“Yeah, Zuko would like that.” She nods wistfully.
“This isn’t about Zuko,”
“Isn’t it?”
The coronation had ended and it was nearly time to begin the festivities, but first, you had to see Zuko. He’d sent for Ty Lee to bring everyone to him in what is now his throne room. It seemed more welcoming, despite nothing changing but the person who sat on the throne.
Zuko pauses his pacing as he hears the footsteps drawing closer and visibly relaxes at the sight of everyone. As he descends down the stairs he dismisses the court and Ty Lee, although she was already leaving at that point. She was more excited about the after-party and hanging out with her new friends, anyway.
“Thank you for coming,” He smiles at you before remembering the others are also in the room. “There’s a small feast waiting for us, please, join me.” He doesn’t say this, but you know from records that those feasts are between the Fire Lord and his family, and as of last week, he didn’t have any remaining family that was able to join him. Well, he had his Uncle Iroh, but he was busy setting up for later that night.
“Free food, I’m in! Lead the way, Oh Great Fire Lord!” Sokka grins, placing his hands on Zuko’s shoulder and literally pushing him out of the room. You laugh, walking alongside Aang towards the room, watching as Suki and Toph take the time to loudly complain about Sokka.
“See,” Katara whispers, falling into step with the two of you. “He isn’t going to leave.” Covering her mouth, you stop walking until you’re sure the distance is too great that Zuko wouldn’t hear.
“I never…” Taking a deep breath, you glance at Aang. “I don’t know what she's talking about,” You tell him with a small shrug, he just stares at Katara, waiting for her to explain.
“He’s lying,” Toph shouts and you grumble. Wiping your mouth, you stand up straight and continue walking.
Waiting at the doors of the room for everyone to catch up, Zuko has a small smile on his face when you stand next to him.
“You guys go in, I want to talk to (Y/n),” He nods and two guards open the doors. Sokka and Toph don’t need to be told twice and rush inside, much to everyone’s amusement. Katara squeezes your arm as she passes by and Aang gives you a thumbs up you pretend to not notice.
Zuko waits until the doors close and the two of you walk in silence until you’re both in the palace courtyard, in front of the turtle duck pond.
“Really,” He nods once the two of you are alone. “Thank you for coming. And-and you look amazing, by the way.” He gestures to your outfit. “You’re not too hot, right? I have a lot of spare clothes you could wear if you’d like…” He looks off to the balcony of his room.
“I’m fine,” You smile, holding your hands in front of you. “I actually toned down the layers, I usually wear four more for ceremonies,” Looking around the courtyard, you wonder what the palace would look like had it been made of ice.
“That’s good,” He nods, fiddling with the fabric of his sleeve before he clears his throat, pulling your attention back to him. “Not that you toned it down, just that you’re not uncomfortable.” He hastily adds before a silence falls over the two of you.
“That night, at the tents…” He starts and you slowly nod. That memory was almost completely forgotten but you remember the most basic gist of the night. “I won’t leave the team— you behind.” He forcefully corrects himself and you have to force yourself to still look at him. “I don’t plan on leaving you behind.” He reiterates.
“Oh,” You hum, biting the corners of your mouth to stop your smile from growing.
“I don’t know who to say this,” He trails off and reaches to grab your hand. He grips it tightly and your heart hammers, there’s a million different things he could possibly want to say but you know. Hopefully. “But my uncle advised me to speak freely about this. I have… I would like— no,” His face contorts and you nod, promising to let him take his time. He thinks for a moment, his eyes dipping to stare at your hands. “Would you like to co-rule the Fire Nation with me?” He asks, his good eye squinting at his own words. Yeah, that sounded right to him.
“Like as an advisor?” You tilt your head. “I mean, I do have a military background, my father is—“
“As my consort.” He corrects and your eyes widen.
“Oh,” You blink and open your mouth to speak before closing it again.
“I understand if you say no, but I need you to know my feelings before things become… distant between us. I know you’re going back to help your father and I’m staying here,” He says when the gap of silence becomes too much for him to bear.
“No!” You vigorously shake your head and he deflates a little more. “No, I mean, yes to the question. No to the whole ‘if you say no’ part. I would very much enjoy being your consort.” You rush out.
“Really?” He asks, his eye widening and eyebrow-raising. “I know it’s a lot all at once, we could start small—“
“I’m okay with starting big,” You grin.  “Skip the courting and go straight to dating, not marriage tomorrow big, you know.” You add, your eyes trailing off to the flowers of the garden.
“I’m too young for marriage,” He agrees. “But I could see an engagement soon.” His eyes flicker to your hair and then down to your face while yours dips down to his neck.
“Good.” Dropping one of his hands, you jerk your head back the way you came. “Let’s go eat! Before Sokka and Toph leave us to starve,”
Joining the others, you settle yourself between Katara and the end of the table while Zuko takes the head of the table, with Aang and Toph on either side of him.
“So,” Katara’s eyes flicker between you and Zuko. “What did you two talk about?” She asks, doing her absolute worst to hide the grin plastered on her face.
“Things,” You shrug, filling your plate.
   “Mundane things,” Zuko agrees.
“Like?” Suki presses.
“He thought I would want a change of clothes. Can you pass the dumplings, please?” Aang nods and grabs the plate.
“Yes, he looks very hot—“ Zuko pauses and you stare at him, the mostly empty plate of dumplings in your clutch. “Temperature wise… in his clothes.” His eyes catch Toph’s and he nearly leaps; he’ll never get over the fact that she knows where his eyes are. She just snickers and continues to eat.
“Makes sense, let’s eat!” Sokka raises his cup in the air, nearly spilling his tea on Suki’s lap. “To Zuko! The best Fire Lord ever!” Everyone follows suit, raising their cups.
Midway through the meal, you catch Zuko grazing his chest with a slightly contorted expression. The spot Azula’s lightning had struck him.
“Does it still hurt?” You ask, wiping some sauce from the corner of your mouth. “I know my healing isn’t the best, so…”
“No,” He shakes his head, his hand settling back to his lap. “You’re perfect— it’s perfect,” He quickly corrects and you notice how the table goes quiet. He cringes and you stare down at your plate, grabbing a spring roll to avoid smiling. “I just drank too fast.” He explains, now much more careful with his words.
“Oh, that makes sense,” You glance at him and briefly make eye contact.
“Mhmm,” He says, still watching you.
“Is it just me or are you two acting weird?” Sokka asks, looking between the two of you.
   “He’s an idiot,” Suki mutters.
“Speaking of weird,” Clearing your throat, you point your half-eaten spring roll at Sokka. “Do you guys remember when Sokka set up a literal love tent?”
“He what?” Katara shouts, choking on her food.
With the ceremony and feast over, it’s time to get changed and prepare for the rest of the night’s festivities. Everyone heads into their temporary rooms in the palace and you immediately drop most of your layers.
In truth, you were sweating in your outfit, normally you wouldn’t wear so many layers for over four hours, especially in the Fire Nation, but it’s been around eight and you’re sticky and sweaty. Thankfully, there’s an attached bathroom and you’re able to soak for a bit before you need to start getting ready.
You’d packed some clothes for the night, but when you entered the bedroom again there was a pile of red clothes folded neatly on the bed, and below the bed was a pair of red boots.
Grabbing the top layer, you fold it and stare at the boran lakron— namely the deep v-neck it has and then down to your sarashi. You don’t mind all that much, it’s not as if your garments are a secret. But when you pick up the next item, you see he’s provided a second option; a tangzhuang.
The longer you stare at the sleeveless, button-down shirt the longer you’re convinced it’s his. You’re sure you’ve seen him wear the same dark red and golden shirt before. Putting that on, you leave it unbuttoned for the time being and grab the next layer.
It’s a pair of fisherman's pants, you own a pair yourself and had packed it along, but you don’t mind wearing the new one. Pulling them up, you wrap the extra fabric over itself before tying the string to keep it from falling. Slipping your huwan’s back onto your forearms, you lace them up before sitting on the bed. The shoes he’d provided were slip-on shoes that surprisingly fit.
“Knock-knock!” Aang says as he’s knocking on your door.
“Come in!” You call, briefly looking at the door as you’re doing your hair. Ceremony hair was a pain and a half to undo. Mainly since the most you’d do to your hair is tie it up with a ribbon.
“I didn’t know you owned Fire Nation clothes,” Aang comments as he throws himself onto your temporary bed. He’s back to his typical clothes and you stare at him through the mirror.
“I don’t… these were on my bed.” Sitting up, Aang raises an eyebrow before his face gets that look when he makes a connection.
“So,” He looks away, pretending to think about something to say. “Are you going back home after this?” He asks. You don’t think anything of the question, after all, it was Aang asking you.
“Not for long,” You shake your head. “I don’t see myself settling down there again.” Checking over your hair, your fingers ghost over your neck. There’s still a scar there from the fight, but it doesn’t bother you. Not anymore. Just sometimes you forget about it.
“Oh?” He grins but hides it. “Where do you see yourself settling down?” Dropping your hand, you spin around to face Aang.
“Somewhere,” You shrug, looking him up and down, it’s weird that you were provided with clothes but he wasn’t. “How about you?”
“Me and Katara are planning on traveling, continuing to spread peace and all the Avatar stuff,” He shrugs, standing up. “You should join us… if you don’t have plans already!” It’s as though he’s trying to guide you into an answer— he is! Katara must’ve put him up to this because she knew you wouldn’t answer her.
“Maybe,” Patting his shoulder, you check the sun. You have another hour before you’re supposed to head out and you really want to get to work on sending a letter to your parents about your relationship. They’d left after the ceremony, missing the coldness of the Southern Water Tribe. “I’ll definitely let you know, though!”
The ride to Iroh’s tea shop was nice, everyone had flown on Appa, overlooking Ba Sing Se. You and Zuko were in the back, honestly just staring at each other until the other noticed before looking away.
Iroh greeted everyone but he’d taken a second to look at your clothing. Instead of saying anything, he only smiled and let everyone into the shop. It was closed for the day, so Iroh could see his nephew and friends.
Having changed into the shop's uniform, Zuko handed out tea to everyone until Sokka interrupted him, talking about trying to capture the moment.
“I wanted to do a painting. So we always remember the good times together,” He admits and everyone goes over to see the drawing. It was definitely a drawing, taking a lot of artistic liberties. But it was nice, and you appreciate the sentiment, even as Zuko’s hand found yours.
“Young love,” Iroh sighs and the two of you jump, separating to opposite ends of the table. He laughs, holding his stomach, and guides you back to Zuko. “Fire and ice, opposites at war but they aren’t too dissimilar, no?” His eyes flicker between the two of you and you hold back your wide grin. He’d basically said he was more than fine with your relationship.
“Thank you, Uncle.” Zuko relaxes.
“For what?” He asks, raising his cup to his mouth. “I am not going to get in the way of love.”
To say that the Fire Lord's appearance in the Northern Water Tribe was met with open arms would be a big fat lie. Had it not been for the Chief's son at his side Zuko would’ve been turned away without a second glance.
While it wasn’t unexpected, you can tell it still deeply hurt Zuko. He wasn’t his father but he was his father's son and he guesses that’s worse. He’s paying for sins he had committed when he was lost as well as the sins of his family. But, he didn’t let it deter him. Instead, he walked side by side as you guided him through your homeland.
The path to the palace was straight, so it wasn’t too long. But long enough that people had begun to exit their homes to see the Fire Lord and Prince walking in stride towards the palace. Surely the elders talk and theorize, and there would be gossip that you’d never hear the end of.
By the time the two of you reached the bottom of the stairs, you saw your parents standing side by side at the top. Zuko had seen them before, during his coronation, but he had never actually met them before.
“Chief Arnook, Kayuula; it’s a pleasure to finally meet you.” Zuko bows his head to your parents.
“Mother, father.” You greet, waiting for the invitation for a hug.
“Welcome back,” Your father smiles, pulling you into a hug. Your mother joins, burying her head into the crook of your neck. “With a….” He looks at Zuko, an eyebrow raised. “Suitable partner.” He settles on saying.
“Come in,” Your mother extends her hand to Zuko and he looks at you, unsure of what to do. When you nod, he shakes as he takes her hand, letting her guide him inside.
“Before you ask,” You rush as the door shuts. “We do have a timeline of our engagement.” Most Water Tribe relationships don’t start with dating, jumping straight to wedding preparations once both parties are of age. But for the Fire Nation, they date. Like, actually date.
“That’s good,” Your father nods his hand on your shoulder. “Does he treat you nice?” He whispers, watching as your mother shows Zuko paintings from your youth.
“He does,” You nod.
“Does he know?” He adds, gesturing to your chest.
“He does,” Once again, you nod. “He’s more than okay with it, father.” He inhales and nods but stops walking. Putting more of a distance between the two groups.
“You’ll always be home here. If he’s pressuring you—“
“Father,” Stopping him, you move to hold his hands. “Zuko wouldn’t. I trust him— fully. Wholeheartedly.” He exhales, checking your eyes before he gives in.
“I simply cannot lose another child,” He admits as the two of you start walking again. “Our wounds are only beginning to heal.” He continues, looking at a painting of Yue.
“I understand, I miss her dearly.”
“(Y/n), Darling; hurry!” Your mother sings and your father smiles, picking up the pace into the living room. She sat across from Zuko who couldn’t be more uncomfortable.
“Mother,” You tease, settling next to Zuko. “She didn’t tell you about the process of skinning, did she?” You ask and he shakes his head and slowly relaxes.
“I was asking if you two have consummated the relationship yet.” She says as if it was a normal conversation. Your father hums, his gaze settling on Zuko.
“Mother,” You choke. “We haven’t… er… we haven’t kissed yet.” Her eyebrows raise but she doesn’t speak on it. “We wanted to tell
you in person before anything further.”
“I want grandkids!” She complains.
“Preferably one boy and one girl,” Your father adds. “I think five grandkids would suffice.” He hums and your jaw drops.
“Father, we haven’t discussed children.” You meekly admit, glancing at Zuko. “We aren’t even sure if I can have children.”
“Visit the elders today,” Your father nods as if it was settled. “Ask them for advice and guidance.”
“So, I’m assuming you approve of us?” You ask anything to move the conversation. They look at each other, having a silent conversation before they both nod.
“I see no issues,” Your mother smiles, resting her head on your father's shoulder. “Besides, if he mistreats you, you have all the water benders in the world and the Avatar to stop him.” She shrugs.
“Oh,” You gulp. “That’s nice.”
One year and seven months of dating had come and gone and it was time. You felt it was time and so did Zuko. War makes life seem short, which you suppose it is. And it brings clarity. You were sure in your relationship.
The two of you met each other when you were literally at your worst, you’d seen the ugly sides of each other and made way past it. And now the two of you were working on repairing the Fire Nation, restoring the damage inflicted upon the other nations to the best of your ability.
“When we’re married,” Zuko says as the two of you walk out of the carriage that had taken you to Iroh’s tea shop. “What will your title be?” Pursing your lips, you admit you haven’t given it much thought before now.
   “Consort (Y/n)?” You toss up.
“That’s demeaning,” He shakes his head. “You’re much more. Chief (Y/n) of the Fire Nation?”
“Wordy, but I like it.”
Entering the tea shop, you see your parents and Iroh sitting at a table, talking and sipping their teas. They seem to be having fun and you’re glad. But not surprised, Iroh is amazing. In the back, you saw your friends mingling about.
“(Y/n), Zuko!” Sokka waves wildly when he sees the two of you.
“About time,” Toph scoffs. Although everyone knows it’s fake.
“Sorry we’re late,” You apologize, hugging your parents. “We got caught up…”
“They were smooching.” Sokka tries to whisper to Suki but everyone hears it.
“Shut up.” Katara punches his arm. “It’s good to see you two again,” She smiles at you.
“You’ve grown,” You huff, hugging her. “I’ve seen so much red I forgot what blue was!” The two of you laugh as Zuko walks up behind you, settling his hands around you. He’s been touchy ever since the two of you set a date for the engagement.
“That fortune-teller did say she saw a lot of red in your future,” Zuko muses, his head leaning towards yours as he presses a loud kiss to your cheek.
“Hopefully we can get more blue,” You laugh, pushing his head away just enough that his hair isn’t tickling your neck.
“Should we get started?” Your father asks and Zuko immediately removes himself from you. He’s still a little nervous around your parents.
“Yes!” You nod and take your seat at one end of the table. Zuko takes the other and your friends fill the seats on either side of your parents and Iroh.
Settled on your knees, you watch as your parents place down a blue wooden box in the middle of the table and then Iroh places a red metal box. The red box is a long rectangle with a lot of small details but the blue box is a little more simple, carved to mimic ice sculptures back home.
“I am Prince (Y/n), of the Northern Water Tribe. Son of Chief Arnook and Kayuula.” You speak, staring at Zuko.
“I am Fire Lord Zuko, son of Ursa and Ozai.” Zuko says, staring back at you.
“Do you both agree to this engagement?” Iroh asks.
“Yes.” The two of you nod.
“Is this engagement true?” Your father asks.
   “Yes.”
“Do you both love each other?” Your mother asks.
“Yes.” Zuko smiles without a hint of embarrassment.
“May the spirits bless your engagement,” Everyone speaks and you’re sure they practiced that because even Sokka got it right.
“Exchange your gifts,” Your mother says and you stand up, grabbing the box before bowing away from the table. Zuko follows suit and everyone turns to watch as the two of you stand in front of each other.
“Do you want to go first?” He asks, messing with the red box. The rule for a traditional engagement was that the male gifts the woman something to signify their engagement but… yeah.
“Sure,” Fumbling with the blue box, you turn it away from you and open it.
Inside the box was a light blue gemstone with a dark blue ribbon going through it. The gemstone was carved to look like a flame in the same design as the water symbol. You’d spent three months trying to get it right, which was difficult considering you were hardly ever away from Zuko.
Nervously, you look between the necklace and Zuko.
“It’s beautiful,” He smiles and takes the necklace with one hand. Holding the red box for him, he holds the necklace up to his throat before he locks the clasp together. There was something about Zuko wearing something from your tribe that made your heart skip a beat, the way he wore it did much more. You were nearly sure you’d pass out.
Taking his box back, you watch as he opens the red box, revealing a silver version of his royal crown. But instead of flames, there was a crescent moon.
“I’m not crowned yet,” You remind him as you grab it.
“It’s the consort crown.” He shakes his head. “The chief crown will be more elaborate, I promise.” With a look of approval, he walks behind you and undoes your hair. It falls from the ribbon and settles at the base of your neck. Carefully, his fingers scoop your hair up, combining it with his other hand until he’s gathered it into a top knot. His hand juts out from your left and you hand him the crown. It slips into your hair and he secures it with your ribbon before checking over his work.
“I’m gonna cry,” Sokka admits as he blows his nose into Katara’s shoulder. She gags and bends the snot off of her and onto his shirt without much fuss.
Taking your seat at the head of the table, Zuko takes his seat next to you and the two of you overlook the guests.
“You two look amazing!” Aang is the first to say something.
“Time to plan the wedding!” Iroh cheers and you smile down at your lap.
“A wedding,” Zuko whispers in your ear, pressing a small kiss to the shell of it.
“It’s gonna be blue,” You whisper back.
“And then grandkids!” Your mother claps her hands.
Later that night, as you’re watching Zuko and Iroh talk over a cup of tea, Katara walks up to you.
“I told you,” She softly says, placing a hand on your shoulder. “He would never leave you.” Zuko looks over at you and smiles before nodding at Iroh.
“I still meant the group,” You grin and she rolls her eyes.

Zuko x Top male reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media
🔥 Zuko had always been drawn to the mysterious and brooding nature of the Fire Nation prince. His scar—an eternal reminder of his turbulent past—made him more alluring. Though he had always loved Zuko, the most educated M/N had never taken the chance to approach him out of dread of being turned down.
🔥 But something changed in Zuko's private chambers one evening. Their anger erupted like wildfire, and Zuko's normally composed exterior started to break. With a hunger in his eyes that matched M/N's own yearning, he gazed at them.
🔥 Zuko closed the gap between them and planted a scorching kiss on his lips without saying anything. As they lurched toward the bed, M/N melted into the touch, putting his arms around Zuko's neck. Their clothing was swiftly thrown aside in a flurry of desire as their bodies connected in a surge of heat and yearning.
🔥 Zuko's hands left trails of fire against the M/N's flesh, his touch demanding and intense. The M/N experienced chills with every touch, kindling a longing deep within him. In return, M/N caressed Zuko's slender, strong frame with his hands, enjoying the sensation of his warm flesh.
🔥 As they came to a rhythm, their bodies united in a dance of ecstasy and love; their movements were raw and urgent. M/N was driven insane with need by Zuko's groans, which filled the room. They had finally reached their peak ecstasy, calling one other's names and collapsing into a tangle of entwined limbs and tangled breaths.
🔥 With a rare tenderness in his voice, Zuko whispered quietly in the M/N's ear as they lay exhausted and satisfied in one other's arms. With anguish and longing in his eyes, he said, "I've wanted this for so long."
🔥 M/N planted a gentle kiss on Zuko's damaged cheek while grinning. "I've wanted you for just as long," he said, his heart brimming with love for the flamboyant royal.
🔥 They both understood at that very moment that they were just getting started in their intense love affair and that it would only get better with time. And as they lay wrapped in one another's arms, they rejoiced in the realization that they had at last found comfort and joy in one another's company.

Guys so I did a bit of… a thing…
I was writing on the part 2 of the Sokka x Male Waterbender!Reader and i realised something…
Zuko and Reader might have a bit of enemies-to-lovers potential…
And now I’m a little pissed I didn’t realise that earlier…
So anyone up for a love triangle?

The Potential of Yandere Nagito Komaeda
Tumblr media
So, I played Danganronpa 1. It was really fucked up and really good. But somehow it made me NOT want to play 2+3 for some reason, Im getting too impatient for VNs nowadays lol but I REALLY got stuck on Komaeda. I know ppl call him yandere already (and some hate that hes associated with it) but he got such a unique twisted mind and obsession on hope that I can't help but think of him.
Analysing(?) the potential of Yandere Nagito and his connection to his obsession with hope and his Ultimate Luck.
TW: cursing, murder, self-harm, self-depracation, obsession, objectification, suicide, spoilers for DGR 2 and case 5, yandere behaviour
Nagito is a special case when it comes to a Yandere and thats due to the fundamental beliefs and state that define him:
A general mental unstability due to trauma.
His usage but also hatred towards his own talent, Ultimate Luck, due to the trauma.
A lack of empathy.
Constant lying.
Distancing himself from others while longing for stability and love.
His obsession with hope and gambling with his talent to gain ultimate hope no matter how.
His own insane amount of good and bad luck has defined his life. A loss of family and close ties in return for freedom and wealth. A terminal illness though he survives longer than the average person.
It makes Nagito believe he doesn't deserve anything. Any good thing follows a terrible one and vice versa. There's a constant need to force himself to see the bright side of things, to be proud of his talent but the truth is that he barely has any control over his own life.
The only thing he can do to cope is to close off any negative emotions or reactions and vehemently believe in and obsess over hope - thinking that there will always be light on his dark road. He may not have any parents anymore but for that he is now free. He, undeserving as he is, is allowed to attend Hope's Peak but ended up in a killing game.
But that's it, isn't it? The despair of it all may seem suffocating but if he endures and believes long enough, his good luck will come to rescue him and bring hope again!
What's the point of fearing anything when he got his own personal karma system by default? Why fear his own sickness and mortality, when he can cling unto hope until his very last moments instead?
Unfortunately, his luck hasn't made him popular with others.
Even when some of his good luck affects others, they're never keen on befriending him.
It's fine though and completely understandable! He is trash! Scum like him doesn't deserve a single friend, especially someone talented!
But as much as he reasons the distance of others due to his own worthlessness, Nagito knows that it's because he struggles to connect to anyone. He doesn't really get a lot of cues, jokes or any sarcasm. People don't hang around for too long no matter which response or action he takes, even those he thinks would be a good ice breaker in the moment. Even when he tries compliments, which is often added to his self-deprication, the others always seem to take it as an insult. It's tough, but Nagito made peace with the fact that he is just that terrible. Why would and should anyone understand trash like him?
So, he often finds himself lying. At times it comes naturally since he knows direct and brutal honesty might scare someone away, and other times it just is convinient. Oh, but he has no intention to be a filthy liar! When someone asks, he always reveals his lie.
Besides....they could get the short end of the stick due to his luck. Get struck by lightning, fall down the stairs, or get crushed by a meteorite...they could be gone in a second, just like his parents.
The only thing he can be sure of, and what the puts his faith in, is hope.
The world can be cruel, and people forcing despair to take over in this killing game, are even crueler. But no matter what, hope always returns, always wins! Ultimates such as his dear classmates will have no problem defeating that ugly despair, that ugly Junko, no matter what! He knows it!
So, let him be a stepping stone. The ladder they can all climb on and then abandon as they reach the top and end the game! It would be an honor to be of help to those who will bring hope.
No, its not only an honor. It's fate.
With all this in mind...there are several interesting ways for him to not only obsess over hope but also over you.
To get any kind of attention from Nagito, you'd first have to willingly talk to him.
It doesn't need to be anything in particular. You do not need to be kind and soft, direct and open, harsh or mean. Seek him out and he will notice how you are the only who keeps coming back to him.
He silently appreciates the attention. To know someone asks for his well-being, wonders where he might be or wants to hear his input.
Even if you are bit of the meaner side, he woudn't mind. Point out how his responses come off as weird, offensive or thoughtless and he'd agree! Yes, scum like him is just terrible but hey, here! Please accept his apology!
As long as you don't dislike or bully him, he keeps on being social and polite to you.
Things only go deeper once the killing game starts.
What an awful situation everyone is in! However, if we all work together, we will not give into despair!
Nagito would notice you in a positive way if you had a similiar role to Hajime.
(Here might come my own headcanons as an ace attorney fan...) In fact, if you were the Utimate Defense Lawyer, you already scored jackpot with Nagito. As a lawyer, you'd of course had to find the truth to end the class trial AND to defend someone who was innocent - that was what your intuition at least told you.
Finding the true culprit while believing in someone else...that takes an immense amount of selflessness and hope to put into someone! You could lose your life and endanger the lives of the others but you still choose hope out of your own free will! And why? Because that's just how you are.
It's a shock to Nagito but equally fascinating. An Ultimate such as you...of course you'd have to have hope! Or else you wouldn't be worthy of your talent!
So, after the trial, Nagito will be frozen at the spot when you come to speak to him.
It can be about anything but his silence and widened eyes concern you for a moment.
"Wow...! You solved the class trial in such an inspiring way and still decide to come back to talk to garbage like me?!"
Immediately he began laughing as if you told a joke and grabbed your hand, shaking it with both of his. "It must be my lucky day that I got stuck in this game with someone like you!"
His on-and-off behaviour is confusing. The guy you barely know seems so overjoyed everytime he sees you, so selflessly open and nice and always willing to help you in any kind of investigation or when exploring the island.
It's just such a convinient way to stay close to you and observe you! What else are you like? Does your talent bring out such hope in you? Are you like that in other, safer situations? Nagito is dying to know!
And when you keep on being nice to him...it brings in so much hope in his heart!
Of course, Nagito revealed how nuts he is in the beginning. So, it's not likely that you approach or hang around him to be his friend.
You keep on being polite and civil with him at best but Nagito takes each nice gesture to heart. Any request to hang out, any (reluctant) agreement to have him stick around and chat or be your 'sidekick', any kindess towards him - like bringing him food you remembered he liked and feeding him ever so gently when he was tied up - each of these things just make his opinion of you skyrocket!
These feelings intensify when you defend him in a class trial. Suspicion of murder could be placed on him and even if it lasts only for a few arguements, the fact that you put such faith in him that he isn't a killer (which he well could be!) just makes him squeeze in glee.
"Oh....ngnhn...ha..haha, ahahahha! You believe in me? Aha, all the evidence points to me but you put your faith in me? I'm the worst but you defend me! Oh, it's the accumilation of hope, a peak only you could achieve!"
It's not like in a sense that he's delusional and thinks you're doing these things because you love him - no, in fact, that thought would never cross him mind. A worthless insect like him can't be loved unconditionally. His parents didn't seem to love him so, nor can anyone really stand him and if there was potentially someone, they'd just be scared away by his ultimate bad luck.
No, it's not love. It's...admiration. Objectification.
Fixating all that he loves about hope in you.
Somehow...that makes him admire you more than anything he had ever admired before.
You ARE hope. There is an unshackling belief in you that no matter what, you won't give up. You won't give into despair and will fight even when you have no clue on what to do.
Nagito is a waste of space and air...but there is this inkling in the back of his head that makes him think you and him are the same.
Equals.
You'd understand him, right? He understands you. He understands the hope that dwells within you, the wish for it to win and to end the game.
Let him help then. Let him be your ladder, your sidekick in this story, this stepping stone of achieving the purest form of hope.
Nagito won't say it. He might shower you in these weird strings of praises, worship the ground you walk on and stick by you as if he physically is a part of you but he won't ever say that he plans to achieve hope with you.
"It stinks that I can't really control my talent like you can...I don't know when something will strike me as good or bad luck. But...I know, for certain that my ultimate good luck brought me to you. Maybe it affected you and got you into this killing game instead! Still...I can't be grateful enough. You...you are everything and...I don't ever want you to lose that! Everything that you are, you've got to keep it! You are the hope I always strife for...my luck finally brought me to you! Therefore...I've got to do everything to make sure nothing the both of us did ever goes to waste. You'll see."
It is a pain - is an understatement.
Nagito is quiet most of the time. But when he speaks and intervenes, he's the loudest of the group.
His clinginess and obsession with you is not something he hides and his brutal honesty (when he's not lying) is so off-putting, the other contestants can't help but notice.
The nicer ones would be concerned with you. Are you sure you're okay? Nagito sounds like a stalker, a weirdo guy who desperately wants to be your friend. He, like, talks about you like a servant talks about their majesty.
Those that disliked him from the start only have more reason to dislike him more. In trials, no one is open-minded enough to believe him or give him a chance. In fact, the trials consist more of insults than detective work (much to the annoyance of Monokuma).
It adds fuel to the fire when you have to step in and prove that Nagito is innocent. It just makes him more fixated on you!
However...that doesn't mean that their words don't sting.
"Who says it wasn't Nagito, huh? The guy was ready to kill Byakuya for his weird hope fetish! He'd more than enough willing to mess up everything! He's a nutcase, a weirdo and a stalker!"
"Huh? Stalker? I don't go to such lengths...we all are cottage neighbors anyway, how could I stalk?" Nagito brushed off Akane's accusation, more perplexed than insulted.
"Don't lie," Kazuichi added, "You cannot not be aware how absolutely...fucked up in yer head yer are! You harass them constantly and cling to 'em like a koala! And in the trials you always try to stir things up to get their attention! Dude, if we weren't on an island, you'd be charged with more accounts than we can count!"
Nagito awkwardly laughs it all off. C'mon, that's not...he's stupid and ugly and useless and terrible...but his friends can't see him as some crazy stalker, right?
It would sting the most if people like Mikan were to agree. She understands a lack of attention, affection and love. She understands having no one. And yet she speaks like them, too.
"...I-I...can't say what's right here but...I don't know if its healthy."
She has taken care of him. Has heard what he mumbles in his sleep, the way he laughs and talks about you. It's scary.
"So, maybe...yeah, in a way, you are fucked up, N-Nagito."
Hm?
What? Him? Fucked up in the head?
How can he be? It's all for hope and...for you.
For everyone. He can't be bad. Can't be desperate for you and the hope you represent.
He can't be. You'd agree, right?
It's the final step.
As he plants the bombs, he is almost giddy.
The final step, the thing that will turn the tide and force the traitor to come out.
Yet you...weren't fond of his idea.
It depends on how much Nagito thinks you are like him if he decides to tell you of his plan. Not if he trusts you.
He does, he believes so! But he also knows that he believes more in hope than the others, including you.
So, if he does tell you, he'd think you'd agree!
Once you don't, tell him how terrible that all is...he'd be so disappoined.
Really? You? You don't agree to capture the traitor, end the game and let hope win? Weren't you hope?
What a pain...now he needs to tie you up or something, so you don't go telling the others. At least long enough until the bombs themselves explode.
Don't worry! Nagito won't be rough and kidnap you to a safe location!
The room is clean and comfortable as he feeds you. It's the least he can do after all everything you did for him! It's a shame though it had to come to this...you're all alone, tied up with ducttape.
"Haha, isn't this funny? Now I'm the one feeding you! All tied up, too. Kind of ironic, huh? But don't worry, this won't last long! Once the first bomb goes off in the lobby, I'll come straight here to get you!" He tells you to open your mouth as he feeds you your favorite meal. Though as calm as he seemed, a dark glint passed his eyes. "It's a real shame. I thought you'd understand but you're just another disappointment. The traitor would just have to come out, is all. But people like you just make things unnecessarily difficult."
Of course, he plans all this after finding out the truth. There is a high chance of his opinion of you changing as well, especially if you lack the determination to do everything for hope, but...you are so close, so alike, that he cannot not use you as means to achieve hope. He can't deny your talent, your strength and he doens't want to. Part of him doesn't want to dismiss you like he does to the others.
Maybe you will understand soon. It's unlikely but hey, he can't give up hope, right?
"You can finish it after this is all over." He gives you the calmest smile you've seen on him, "In some way, we are alike, right? A part of you must understand me."
You are truly scared of Nagito now.
Before all that it was...unnerving, unsafe and uncomfortable...
At times you can find it in your heart to empathize. He'd switch around between pleasant and insane. If you were him and had his talent, maybe you'd come out being the same?
He's still nice, especially to you. Cheering you on, praising you, hanging around...
He was never overly affectionate and you couldn't quite tell what he wanted from you. Company, a good friend, or more?
Even as he tied you up and fed you, he was considerate. Never had the intention to hurt you or make you uncomfortable but he still managed to do both.
And now, as he planned his own suicide, he still thought of you.
In this way, he was also planning your murder.
You'd die and it'd be his fault...but he barely feels any guilt. If you are like him, you'd understand. If not, then...you are a disappointment.
You looked so scared, tied up. He flopped down on the ground with you, knees touching yours as he asked you to say 'aah' to feed you. If you were so scared back then, how terrified would you be now when you get called the blackened?
When you see his corpse and find out that you can't find the killer? Will you be scared?
Or...will you feel scared for another reason? Will you...mourn him?
Start crying when seeing him tortured and impaled, grief and miss him?
Will you call out to him? 'Oh, my dearest Nagito! The one I accept, cherish and love! My equal, my friend, my everything!'
That...sounds nice.
The thought of you being sad about his death even though it's all for hope makes him feel better. It's nice...to be mourned.
And as quickly as that thought came, another of you being the one to throw the poison at him feels exciting.
Oh, what if his bad luck hits him and you were to one throw the bottle and be his killer? Ahaha, you'd be the one who murdered him!
Oh, it's so exciting but he hopes not! He knwos you aren't the traitor so he counts his lucky stars that it won't be you. But the irony of it all...it ignites such hope in him like you truly are two peas in a pot, destined equals and friends and more! You'd bring an end to despair together forever!
You, the hero, and Nagito, your sidekick!
And then another thought popped up. Contempt.
He is the one scheming all of this. Cutting himself up and ramming a knife into his hand. And you'd be the hero? He carried these cases!
He attempted to start the killing! He found out the truth! He planted the bombs and will out the traitor!
Why do carry all that hope?! You'd never go to such lengths as he is doing now, never do your utmost to stop the killing game!
Nagito is the Ultimate Hope. You are the sidekick.
Nagito's obsession is a twisted adoration to the hope you carry. It's diffucult to understand if its platonic or romantic - or if he likes you as a person at all. If he just loves the hope you bring and the person that you are is just a vessel.
For it to be platonic you will have to be the one to call yourself his friend. For it to be romantic you have to tell him you love him.
These possibilities don't ever cross Nagito's mind. He is nothing but trash so he cannot ever bring himself to believe you'd be his friend or lover.
You'd have to prove that you care. Stay with him as he is sick, save him from stumbling and falling due to his bad luck, tell him you'd like to understand him and not sacrifice himself for 'hope'.
All of that confuses him, leaves him often speechless. But they ignite that longing in him to be loved. To have someone who cares for him, friend or lover, it doesn't matter! Just see him! Love him! Don't leave him alone when he dies!
He doesn't wanna die before anyone could ever love him!
If he got this confirmation from you that you do care, then he will cling and stay close. Before that he'd linger in your shadow. As your friend he'd link your arms as you investigate and proclaim you two as the most perfect pair and as your lover, he'd barge into your cottage - not to kill you - but to hold you as you sleep.
And still...you don't know if he actually cares.
Does he care for the hope you bear and just sees your love as a bonus he'd want to cherish and monopolize before he dies? Either through his own means or through his illness?
If he had to choose hope or you...would he actually choose you?
Or do you just happen to bear all that he obsesses with and you just had very bad luck to be his target of his twisted love?

it's everybody's favourite season! click here if you need a referral as to what i'll be doing for kinktober. we're starting out pretty tame, but it will get better pretty quickly!
— kinktober 2024 - hickeys
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
☾ pairing: zuko x male!reader x sokka (could be read as gn!) ☾ summary: if you can't beat 'em, join em. or you just can't seem to get a moment's peace away from zuko and sokka ☾ warnings: 2nd person (you), suggestive but no outright smut, hickeys (obviously), set in season 3, reader isn't technically dating either of them, throuple/love triangle, reader is a non-bender, reader doesn't really know how to handle mass amounts of affection, not proofread. ☾ w๏rd c๏unt: 751
Finally, a moment to yourself.
You hadn't been left alone once in all the time you've been travelling. You couldn't be mad at Aang, he was on a mission. Toph and Katara were cool, so you didn't mind their presence. Sokka and Zuko, on the other hand? If they talked to you one more time, you might die. Sokka kept bugging you to teach him how to fight, and Zuko just would shut up; he was talking your ear off, and it seemed like no matter what you did, you couldn't get away from them.
Wandering around the Earth Kingdom? Zuko would be giving you a history lesson. Relaxing on the beach? Sokka was splashing you with water or kicking sand onto you.
Now, here you were, a few feet away from the camp everyone had set up, trying to get some well-deserved rest.
You heard a twig snap behind you and whipped your head around, only to find Zuko standing there with a deer-dog in the lights look. "Sorry," he muttered out, looking genuinely apologetic.
"Why are you awake?" You sighed, adjusting yourself on the tree you had been leaning against. "Just... couldn't sleep. Too lost in thought." He slumped down beside you, careful not to get too close to you; he knew how much you valued your personal space.
You hummed in response, expecting him to start rambling into your ear again and getting zero sleep. But when you glanced over, you could only see how tired he actually looked. Without warning, he leaned against your shoulder and closed his eyes with a tired sigh. "'M sorry," he managed to slur out again. For some reason, you didn't seem to mind.
It was like that for a while, just quiet, the two of you drifting off peacefully, before Sokka stumbled over. "Why are you two so far away?" He exaggerated in a voice that was entirely too loud. Zuko groaned, frustrated at being disturbed. You just shushed him, furrowing your brows with your eyes still closed. Sokka decided to sit himself on the opposite side of you from Zuko, still grumbling and half-asleep. You continued to nod off, barely able to keep your eyes open with how tired you were.
Suddenly, you felt something on your neck. You went to swat at it, thinking it was just a bug, but when you brought your hand up, the only thing you felt was soft hair. You blinked yourself awake and glanced down to find Zuko with his lips against your neck.
"Zuko, what the hell are you doing?" You whispered, too tired to put a voice behind the words. Zuko just hummed, still brushing his lips against your skin, hiding his face in the crook of your neck. Sokka's head left your shoulder as he shifted. "I thought we had an agreement..." He huffed as he sat himself up more. Sokka's words didn't register in your mind as Zuko began to nip gently at your neck. Your breath hitched; you were definitely awake now. Sokka nearly ripped Zuko off of you, arguing with him in a hushed tone, with words you couldn't make out with the crackling of the campfire outweighing the sound of any conversation.
You sat up, forcing yourself fully awake, and cleared your throat. "Hey," you spoke groggily. Zuko and Sokka both turned to face you, Zuko almost as red as a tomato. "What... was all that for?" You looked up at the two of them. Zuko was still embarrassed, and Sokka still looked upset. From there, something just sort of... clicked.
"Come here," You gestured to both of them, waving them over. They both sat back down on their respective sides, and you placed a tender kiss on both of their foreheads. Zuko immediately took that as confirmation and began to damn near ravish your neck, pressing fiery kisses against the sensitive skin and sucking dark marks into the flesh.
You subconsciously tilted your head, granting better access for Zuko. When your head hit Sokka's shoulder gently, you tilted it up and he gently pressed jealous kisses to your lips, seeking any form of 'retribution' after Zuko "practically stole you" from him, in his own words.
You wouldn't talk about this in the morning. You would hide the marks, though Zuko would catch a glimpse and his eyes would soften. You really didn't know if you would ever talk about this again. But for now, the feeling of those burning marks and passionate kisses was enough.

Firecolor (Male!Reader x Zuko)
Tumblr media
"Greetings, Fire Lord Zuko." you smirk, knowing it's a tease between you two.
He gives an irritated sigh and nods. "Greetings, Minister."
You were appointed Minister of Art mostly so Zuko would have an excuse to be close to you. But you do an important job in the Fire Nation.
You're mainly in charge of trying to rediscover and promote the buried and suppressed culture of the Fire Nation from a hundred years ago, in the time before Sozin.
And, wouldn't you know it, the nation that spawns those that can bend fire has a lot of destroyed archives.
"I understand you have something to show me?"
You grin. "Yes! A very special kind of ink!"
He tilts his head, glancing at his council. You beam, and scurry over to the wall that you seem to have hung a blank banner on.
"Minister, are you feeling alright?"
"Of course! I didn't inhale any ink fumes." you chuckle, causing Zuko to groan.
You suddenly lash out with a spark of fire, hurling it at the canvas.
Instead of bursting into flame, lines glow, superheated, branding a message into the cloth.
"Happy Birth Day, Fire Lord Zuko" is what you've written, and the message glows a deep, warm red as the plant filaments in the ink burn brightly, the ink itself evenly conducting heat.
When the fire stops, the message has burned into the cloth, dark and ashy but still clear.
"That's incredible."
You grin.
Zuko smiles as the other advisors trip over themselves, trying to wish him a happy birthday.
It's not his birthday.
But hopefully seeing his advisors make fools of themselves will be like a present.
"How did you discover this?"
"I had to take some samples of the Fire Sages' old writings. The invisible ink General Iroh used made me wonder if the Sages had used similar treated inks for effects."
"Was this just for beauty?"
"Partially. It could also be used for announcements and edicts, to literally sear them on town walls for effect. They could be easily scrubbed away for the next announcement."
"The bright fire only lasts so long, hmm?"
"True. But I think it being pretty was sort of just an extra - the main part was the ability for it to be hidden before activated, and to leave behind traces so it could be seen."
"I see. Well, Minister, you have done very well to rediscover this lost method."
"The plants it uses are abundant here on the main island, as well. Easy to reproduce."
"Council, allow me to confer with my Minister of Art?" Zuko asks, though it's clearly a dismissal.
When you are alone, he kisses you.
"Now I remember why I hired you." He jokes. You smack his arm.
"The ink is amazing. Though they'll definitely be confused in four months when the Sages announce my birthdate and do my chart for the year."
"You're the Fire Lord. So you have two birthdays." you joke, as he kisses you again.
"Please tell me you're done for the day." Zuko pleads. "I'm soooo bored listening to them drone on with complaints about my returning soldiers home."
"I am, actually. I'm completely free." you smile over your shoulder as you gather up your banner.
Zuko fully lifts you over his shoulder. "I'm requisitioning one boyfriend on behalf of the Fire Nation. Thank you for your service."
You yelp and begin to giggle as Zuko starts to carry you to the royal apartments.
"Put me down!"
"No way." Zuko laughs. "After all, it is my birthday. I think I want to unwrap my presents..."
and for the rest of the evening, Zuko ensures you are not disturbed as you enjoy each other's company...

Possessive zuko???
Oh he would be so possessive but like lowkey.
Tumblr media
If anyone came up to you, and started flirting, he would silently seethe.
He probably would just continue the normal conversation, but sneak a hand around your waist
He's the Fire Lord, so he can't cause a scene in public, but he can casually drop into conversation possessive things
Stuff like : "My baby boy is so smart", "We should really get back to our home." and "What do you think we should do tomorrow, my love."
Just casually slipping words like that, that make is clear you are taken.
And he'll find any excuse to whisk you away from the person, taking you back to the palace rather swiftly.
Once you're alone though? The casual demenour drops and he turns into one of two things.
Sometimes he's a whiny baby, who just holds you on his lap, proper clingy and cute.
Begging you not to leave him while he pouts, and you just giggle and reassure him that you only want him.
Or he pins you up against a wall in the palace and becomes a possessive dom.
Sucking dark bruises into your neck, your shoulders, your chest, anywhere he can reach.
Nothing, not even a random servant accidentally walking past, can stop him from marking you up with his marks.
You're his. His boy. And no one can take you away.

Zuko headcanons
A/n: have a good day and night. Let me know if I missed any warnings
⚠️: long distance, fluff, missing each other, clingy
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Zuko was losing it
He was going crazy
He was over worked as fire lord
You were with your sister in the earth kingdom
You were supposed to join him in the capital in a few weeks but he was so tired of being alone
He has advisers and the body guards yes but he just wanted to see
You
He was able to survive the 3 weeks but barely
The moment you walked on the capital grounds he was holding you close
You has to pry him off of you so you could get out of traveling close and in to normal wear
That night was quite with him just holding you at night
The days were long for him and you exported the capital city

WARNINGS: EXPLICIT SMOKING WEED
Tumblr media
The feeling of Zuko's feet and legs tangled up in yours was the best sensation you had ever experienced.
Though that might be the weed speaking. You didn't think you would have believed he was this close to you if you both were sober.
The others were camped up in the far end of the Air Nomad temple. It was a bright night, the moon high in the sky was your only company as the embers of your campfire spluttered. When Zuko had emerged to the part of the ruins you often occupied on sleepless nice you'd quickly known what he was seeking.
A reprieve from silent four walls. A comfort only your company could give him. Plus it didnt hurt that he knew exactly how you tended to spend evenings like this, lazily smoking and admiring the stars.
There had been little words exchanged as Zuko joined your place sitting against the ruined walls, there wasn't any need to. Maybe you were afraid it would break the moment, silent and serene as the night chill swirled around you.
The closest you got to speaking was Zuko's nod of gratitude when you first offered him the joint.
The silence was short lived however, shattered when Zuko's body began to shake with the force of coughing. You instinctively began to rub his back, ignoring how much you enjoyed the sensation. It came far too casually, the urge to just continuously stroke your hand up and down his back.
As the coughs eased Zuko spluttered into his fist. 'Fuck, how can you stand that shit. My throat burns.'
You chuckled lowly, still not removing your hand. 'Mad talk from the firebender.'
Zuko tsked under his breath and finally passed it back, not meeting your eyes. You pulled deeply, enjoying the warm sensation that travelled through your body. You let your head lull back against the cold bricks, eyes lazily drawn to Zuko.
They always were, high or not. Not that you'd ever consider acting on your feelings.
Still, that didn't stop you when you finally moved your hand, instead travelling up to throw an arm across his shoulders. You pulled him into your side gently, only offering 'It's cold and you're hot, don't blame me' as explanation.
You ignored the blush that bloomed on his cheeks, and feigned ignorance when Zuko snuggled in the slightest amount.
As you returned the joint to him your eyes met and electricity flushed down your spine. It was impossible not to drown in his amber eyes, they were all you could see. They almost seemed to sparkle, rivalling the celestial view framing him. The slight red tinging his waterline complimented his usual colour scheme.
He was even more adorable than usual like this, relaxing into the high and your touch. Seeing him not entirely strung for once was nice. Endearing.
With another hit Zuko relaxed even further, melting into your side. As his head resting softly began against you you could've sworn your heart skipped a beat.
You could feel the line between you starting to blur. It was nothing new, there were times during the day you contemplated it. Times he looked at you with an indecipherable expression. With something you hoped was the affection you were also harbouring deep down.
You watched as Zuko went for a second pull and didn't get stop him. Maybe you were a little biased. Something you instantly regretted as he was hit with yet another wave of coughing. The two of you had no choice but to wait it out, silent until he stifled them to an occasional occurrence.
Zuko's eyes fell to you, tracing your face in true out of it fashion. 'How do you do this without dying? It's actually so unfair. Favouritism.'
You snorted in what you were sure was an attractive manner. Then paused as an idea came to you.
'Here, how bout we try something, might help you with the coughing.' You offered, face slack as to not give anything away.
The future fire lord simply raised an eyebrow sceptically. 'When has an idea of yours ever done us good?'
'You trust me?' You shot back, feeling emboldened by the high and atmosphere.
Zuko still looked unsure but nodded.
You tried to swallow your anxieties. This could either go very good or very wrong.
You inhaled deeply, eyes not leaving his. Then gestured for him to come closer, which he wordlessly obeyed. You turned your head, he was now so much closer than you'd expected. You drank in every beautiful detail of his face, so soft yet handsome in every way.
'Open?' You whispered lowly, holding the smoke in your lungs. Zuko's eyes widened slightly as he caught on, but he still did as told. You inched slightly closer, lips almost touching, then gently exhaled the puff into his mouth.
Zuko mimicked your deep breath in and blinked cutely when the inevitable wave of coughing never came. He seemed at a loss for words.
'That alright?' You pressed, body tense in anticipation. You really had no idea how he would react.
Yet all you got was a shrug as the firebender resumed his position using you as support. 'I'm not coughing my guts up, which is a start. What was that anyway?'
'Shotgunning.' You replied simply, playing it off as something casual and definitely didn't make your heart beat faster. You took another pull just to distract yourself, occupy your mind with something other than replaying the tantalising memory of his lips right next to yours.
You sat in silence for a minute, enjoying the ease his presence brought you. The fire crackled lazily but you made no motion to tend to it, instead Zuko lazily flicked his wrist and it roured back to life. You were admiring the flames dance when he spoke.
'Can we do it again?'
You froze like a deer in headlights. The courage you'd mustered earlier was nowhere to be found. But the buzz at the edge of your senses eased you. And the pink lingering on his cheeks was equally encouraging.
'If you're sure...' You offered softly, leaving things to Zuko. You didnt want to pressure him, didnt want to leave any chance of misreading where things were going.
Zuko shifted so his face was opposite yours again, eyes perfectly focused on yours. He shifted slightly so his forehead was pressing gently against yours. It was so gentle and intimate it took everything you had to resist holding him.
'I'm sure.' He whispered back, and the crystal clear question in his eyes left nothing unanswered.
You took another pull, and returned your lips to a hair's breath away from his. Pausing for a second to enjoy the moment, the warmth radiating from his presence, his closeness.
Then you exhaled. You moved impossibly closer to aim for his mouth, at the same time he raised his head to meet yours.
And somewhere along the way his lips found yours.
They were just as soft as you'd imagined, pressing against you with adorable shyness yet eager. Your breaths mingled and smoke danced between you. He tasted of weed and cold night air and it was the best thing you'd ever tasted. It was addictive, better than any drug.
As Zuko's grip found your collar and pulled you impossibly closer, you got a feeling that the shotgunning wasn't going to be a one time thing. Or the kissing.

ATLA: They are jealous
★★★★★★★★★★★★
Katara:
Tumblr media
She is too mature to let this control her attitudes, identifying the feeling earlier than others and trying to deal with it introspectively, however, she can't control some sarcastic comments from time to time "would you like to do that with >her< instead?ಠಗಠ". She prefers to stay away and acts a little cold until she realizes that she is jealous and tells herself that there is no reason to feel insecure. She is the type of person that will stop and talk about it, sitting down and explaining what is bothering her instead of letting the situation drag on for too long.
Aang:
Tumblr media
He doesn't hide it very well when he's jealous, constantly trying to get your attention back, showing off tricks with his avatar powers and the new bends he's learning. At first he just wants a little attention, but over time he starts to become insecure and isolate himself a little, even being a little rude when you try to get closer. Unlike Katara, he takes a while to admit that he's feeling jealous and his first instinct is definitely not to talk about it. When confronted, he realizes how immature his attitude was and apologizes, finally admitting that he was feeling bad about the situation and that he expected you to pay more attention to him instead of others. After talking about it for the first time, he starts to police himself so that this attitude doesn't happen again in the future.
Sokka:
Tumblr media
Sokka will straight up be sarcastic about it, commenting on why he is better then the other person or why you should be with him instead of wasting your time with others. Despite his comments he is in fact very insecure about it, maybe you truly think others are cooler than him, I mean, he can't even bend any elements like his friends, he aways felt like he was somehow less special and tried to joke it off but deep down it hurts him. When he can't get your attention back with his usual sarcasm and attempts to impress you he becomes more introspective, alone in his corner thinking about it in silent, thinking if he should be brave and talk to you about it. It takes him a looong time to finally face you and talk about his feelings, he spend days corroding inside with the bitter emotion and when he finally let it out he can't help some tears. He needs some reassurance afterwards, after all he spent all this time seeing the worse in him.
Toph:
Tumblr media
She doesn't get very jealous, her self-confidence helps her not to be insecure to the point of being jealous, but if she did, she would hide it. She is a strong, independent character and, at first, very closed off and never showing weaknesses. It would take a long time for her to start showing vulnerability and even more time for her to admit her jealousy, The emotion would probably have passed by the time she realized what she was feeling. She won't talk about it, she'd rather learn to deal with it on her own.
Zuko:
Tumblr media
(Before joining Team Avatar) Zuko is already an insecure person, he has lost his honor, his family and is constantly questioning his actions, so when he feels jealous it's a shock to him and he immediately recognizes the feeling. He blames himself, not feeling worthy of demanding your attention, after all why would someone like you want to spend time with someone like him. This only increases his desire to find the avatar, when he regains his title, his honor, then he can rethink about it, in the meantime he must get stronger to capture the avatar and return to his nation.
(Team Avatar Zuko) He's still relearning about his emotions, he's learning to communicate and to feel less angry at the world and at himself, so it takes a while before he admit to himself that he is jealous. He talks to the other members of the group about it, perhaps even asking Katara for some advice. He will definitely talk to you when he feels safe to do so, he will explain what he felt and why he felt it. He knows it's something he has to deal with himself but he thinks it will be easier with your support and the knowledge that you still like him.
