The Chanel designer died at a French hospital Tuesday morning following a bout of ill health in recent weeks, the French media reports.
Concerns about the German-born designer’s condition arose on Jan. 22, when he missed two of Chanel’s haute couture shows in Paris.
Celebrities and fellow designers are paying tribute to the fashion giant, including Victoria Beckham, first lady Melania Trump, actress Diane Kruger, singer Lily Allen, model Alexa Chung, Italian fashion designer Donatella Versace and celebrity hairdresser Sam McKnight.

Karl, since the day I first walked into your office on rue Chambon you took me under your wing and brought me along on an incredible journey. My first campaign ever was for Chanel, the second for the Karl Lagerfeld brand. We did numerous campaigns and shoots together in the years that followed but the real beauty and luck about this for me was getting to know you, observe you, learn from you, laugh with you, enjoy so many special moments with you. Some of the best ones being from your mansion in the south of France where I stayed with you whenever we worked on a campaign. After long shoot days we would end up in Rampoldi for a feast of wonderful food and wines and you were one of the most delightful dinner dates I’ve ever had, sharing stories about everyone in the restaurant and enjoying the food with such infectious delight that I so appreciated because of my own love of food. Oh the many wonderful meals we shared.. the many stories.. the many late nights sitting with you in your vast library in candlelight with you talking about your childhood, work, books, writers, architects, artists, nature, food, people… everything. You knew everything about everything! I saw you last time at the Chanel show at the MET and I wanted to run out to you on the runway and hug you because I had a feeling.. well, I don’t think you passed away, you were just picked up by a UFO and brought back to the planet you’re from. Because you were as close to a super human that I have ever come across. I will miss you very much and always think of you. You gave me so much.. ❤️❤️❤️ @karllagerfeld @chanelofficial

Lagerfeld was creative director of French luxury fashion house Chanel since 1983, and he has become associated with the brand in the same way as founder Coco Chanel herself.
He also worked on his own eponymous label and collaborated with Italian fashion house Fendi since 1965, designing furs, clothing and accessories.

Serena Williams earns raves for wearing green bodysuit and fishnets on the tennis court
yahoo
Over the past year, Serena Williams has developed something of a reputation for her on-court ensembles.
The new mom notably wore a supportive catsuit while competing in last year’s French Open — a look that was subsequently banned.
The champion then responded by playing in a tutu — the brainchild of fashion designer Virgil Abloh of Off-White — at the U.S. Open.
Fans have come to expect a sartorial statement from the 37-year-old, and she didn’t disappoint in Australia on Monday.
Williams walked onto the court in a black coat for her match against Tatjana Maria, then removed the outerwear to reveal a mint green Nike bodysuit paired with fishnet tights.

The skintight look, which perfectly displayed her killer figure, was an instant hit with fans.

Williams, who won the match, later told the press that her body-hugging outfit was designed to show women that they can return to fitness after giving birth.
“I wanted to be fit,” she said. “I came back. Nike always wants to make an incredibly strong, powerful statement for moms that are trying to get back and get fit. That was basically it for me.”
She also named her all-in-one jumpsuit a “Serena-tard.”

Black Christmas trees have landed, and they look incredibly chic

Black Christmas trees are the latest holiday decor trend. (Credit: Instagram/@theblondewanders)
Every year, we overlook the fact that festive colors red and green technically clash in order to welcome Christmas into our homes.
But this year there’s another option: Enter the black Christmas tree.
According to Treetopia, black is now the second most popular color for artificial Christmas trees in Washington, D.C., and in a number of states, including Arizona and Indiana.
The hashtag #blackchristmastree has also featured in more than 10,000 posts on Instagram, proving their widespread popularity.
Although not traditional, the black trees give a home a glamorous, Scandinavian-chic look when paired with white and silver baubles. Plus, who wouldn’t be happy to skip the extra vacuuming that a real tree requires?

Ed Sheeran's and Beyoncé's concert outfits spark gender debate
yahoo
On Sunday Ed Sheeran and Beyoncé performed a duet at the Global Citizen Festival: Mandela 100 in Johannesburg. The performance went well, but the internet was soon in an uproar about the artists’ very different outfits, igniting a gender debate.

Ed Sheeran’s and Beyoncé’s performance looks couldn’t have been more different. (Photo: Getty Images)
While Beyoncé wore a bright pink ruffle dress by Ashi Studio, Sheeran performed in his signature casual look: jeans, sneakers and two layered crewneck shirts. Twitter users claimed the contrast showed a gender-based double standard in the music industry.
I get this. Even tho I appreciate good musicians in normal clothes the double standard is ridiculous… what is expected of female vs male artists. https://t.co/xLEcNXVuX7
— Fat in Public (@garlicmeg) December 4, 2018
This photo is v v v v representative of what we expect from men and women at the top of their game, isn’t it? https://t.co/cfeLw8n1aI
— Daniel (@sillyolddaniel) December 4, 2018
Ed Sheeran is a 27 year old man the fact we’ve enabled him to feel it’s ok to dress like this at all, let alone next to Beyoncé really boils my piss pic.twitter.com/Q6XqgTFuvQ
— shon faye. (@shonfaye) December 4, 2018
Others argued that the outfits were simply representative of the stars’ different celebrity images — and had nothing to do with gender.
It ain’t that deep, Beyoncé likes showing off her outfits, always has, while Ed Sheeran is a casual guy who wears casual outfits no matter the circumstance, quit making everything a gender issue in our society it’s the reason there are so many issues in the first place
— Lee (@lee2525rickard) December 4, 2018
Nobody is EXPECTING a woman to dress like that. Beyoncé chooses to because she has gave herself that image. Ed Sheeran is being himself and not conforming to “standards” .. surely that’s the better of the two??? I hate people pic.twitter.com/0nFhvH3zne
— Kato (@alsoknownaskato) December 4, 2018
Others criticized complaints aimed at Sheeran for what he wore.
let him wear whatever he wants. He’s not doing anyone any harm. https://t.co/XTU1bbdJ8M
— Naomigalloway (@mattebitch) December 4, 2018
As for Beyoncé, she didn’t look bothered at all by the dramatic difference between their outfits and seemed much more concerned with Sheeran hitting the right notes during the performance.
The way Beyonce opened her eyes when he messed up that note 😭 pic.twitter.com/9X42s4SRJb

Meghan Markle wears intricate Oscar de la Renta gown and the internet is obsessed

For the event, Meghan opted for a black and white dress with a dramatic tulle skirt from the New York-based brand’s pre-fall 2018 collection.
The embellishments on Meghan’s Oscar de la Renta dress were made by Sarah Esmoingt, a French embellishment designer established in New York who works for Oscar de la Renta and Zac Posen among other designers https://t.co/kACWLRZUVF pic.twitter.com/7tkGA0EFKP

She paired the gown with her trusty Aquazzura Deneuve pumps in black and a Birks Bee Stackable Ring.
The ensemble has gotten rave reviews on social media. One person called the look “flawless” while another compared Meghan to a “doll.”

Andie MacDowell makes her catwalk return at age 60
yahoo
L’Oréal is a brand committed to diversity, with its new, inclusive “We are all worth it” tagline capturing headlines last year.
So what greater ambassador than Andie MacDowell, who at 60 years old walked the catwalk at L’Oréal’s show during Paris Fashion Week, proving that women can be fabulous at any age.

The diverse catwalk lineup also included Elle Fanning, Winnie Harlow, Iskra Lawrence, Doutzen Kroes, and Neelam Gill.
MacDowell’s certainly no stranger to the world of fashion. Prior to launching her acting career, she modeled for Vogue and starred in campaigns for Yves Saint Laurent and Armani perfume.

“I haven’t walked a show in a long time,” she told Vogue of her runway return. “I’m in the process — and have been in the process — of aging. And with L’Oréal, I’ve really been able to [spread the message] that there’s no time limit on beauty.
“It’s a journey, but you can’t go back in time. I don’t want to pretend to be what I’m not and have never been ashamed of my age,” she added. “I want to be positive about right where I am at each stage of my life.”
