You know, I'm really really curious to see how post-enlistment BTS is going to sound thematically-wise.

In these past 2/3 years, they all had the chance to get uncomfortably honest and, for lack of a better term, liberal, in the way they explore their own sound, in a way we got to see very little of previously. We got the rapline fleshing out their work, and the vocal line braving into full-fledged solo stuff for the first time.

Hoseok, who keeps refining and pushing the boundaries of his sound. Who found his footing and is making it his own. The boy who was born for the stage finally gets to be on the spotlight as himself, standing on the shoulders of BTS's j-hope but going back to his roots as Hoseok.

Yoongi and Joon, who already have an incredibly rich discography, and are digging deeper into themselves - there's healing, there's catharsis, there's grief for a past self and hope for a new one. Between Yoongi's Suchwita and Joon's work on RPWP, there's a lot of conversations about life as an artist and as an ordinary person, about mental health and identity, the creative process, about leaving your youth behind and coming to terms with adulthood and the loneliness it brings.

Jin, Jimin and Jungkook who have finally ventured into longer bodies of work, who have finally got to explore who they are (as musical artists) outside and beyond the Bangtan umbrella. Jin especially with this upcoming tour and all the entertainment content he's been a part of, and gets to do things his own way.

Tae, who went the other way and invested in his relationships, who showed us more of himself not through music, but through the way he conducts himself with his friends, outside of the stage.

As Bangtan, they have always been very vocal about all of these, but it's the first time they all got to live life aa creatives on their own. There is a newer, better collective understanding of themselves and each other, and a new layer of maturity and transparency, which has been beautiful to witness it unfold.

I'm so very looking forward to see all of this new knowledge and experience being brought into BTS, and how the new chapter will reflect that once they get together again. Personally I feel like the MOTS series was the perfect mesh of their individual identities and sounds (which makes sense since it was the last Big Thing they did pre-covid that wasn't just a compilation of things like Proof. BE was great but had a very distinct sound and purpose under the Covid context), and if their recent solo work is anything to go by, we are going to see a completely new version of BTS that is bound to surpass all we know from them so far.

i feel bad about it but "he killed eighty people in two days" in The Avengers just doesn't seem like that high a number to me? it'd be high for a normal person, but in supervillainy terms that's... a bit crap, really isn't it?

no wonder Thor was so quick to say "he's adopted" the honour of the family is at stake here, you can't let the humans think that's the best any of them can do D:

there's lots of short videos and posts that slander english teachers (at least that i see) but i just don't understand them. my english teacher is literally like a god she's my favourite teacher (probably ever) and my one from last year is a close second.

idk about anybody else but the english teachers at my school are so amazing and kind and i just can't get over how nice they are.

maybe i'm a teachers pet, maybe i only see the good sides of them, but i swear to god the moment i get a genuinely bad english teacher i will know that the world has finally ended.

it drives me bonkers that there are some forms of art where letting the piece rest is part of the process and if you don't let it rest you will literally physically destroy it. i don't WANT to wait overnight to let my clay piece get leather hard i want to start sculpting the finer details NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Man a lotta people seem to really dislike Shadow of the Erdtree and like I get it kinda, like there are certainly little aspects to it that aren't my favourite for sure but also like, they're relatively small and aren't dealbreakers to me compared to the rest of the DLC, an overall solid experience I enjoyed

But like, fuck dude, the way people talk about it makes it sound like the DLC personally killed their dog or something

Part of me wonders if it's just a case of that like, "The development of it took so long everybody had WAY too much time to develop an extremely specific set of expectations and then when it wasn't the exact idealized version of itself gestating differently in the brains of every individual person (because how could it be?) everybody lost their shit collectively" thing

Or if it's just a case of those things that are small non-dealbreakers to me just like, meaning way more to other people

ok so yesterday i saw this post about the wedding imagery in hickey's trial scene and left a tag about iphigenia at aulis. and in the time since that comparison has spiraled entirely out of control

i was initially just referring to the way the play draws parallels between the rituals of a wedding and those of sacrifice/death and the way the two start to overlap throughout

but then i started thinking about how iphigenia's sacrifice serves both as an illustration of the violence of war turned inwards and simultaneously as the catalyst for said violence turned outwards. killing iphigenia highlights the actual human cost of war by exacting it on a familiar insider, not just a nameless enemy. but her death is also the only reason the war can take place at all--the chorus even calls her the destroyer of troy near the end

and that reminded me of hickey and his unique relationship with the violence of the british navy; of the british characters he is undeniably the one that suffers most at its hands, yet he is also a driving force in perpetuating violence--in general, but also specifically towards the inuit

and i know i'm not the first person to point out that hickey is both a victim and a perpetrator of the violence of the empire, but i find it fascinating to approach that dichotomy through the lens of (ritual) sacrifice. it adds a new dimension to not just the trial, but basically all his scenes that are concerned with said violence. his own death (during a botched ritual no less) is actually a great example; it doubles as the final nail in tuunbaq's coffin. he dies not just for or because of the empire's interests; it's the very act of him dying that causes said interests to be furthered

anyway all that to say hickey thinks he's christ and he's wrong but that doesn't mean he's not a lamb on the altar

you wake up one morning and think that a few more minutes in bed won't hurt, right? you don't go back to sleep but you're still curled up in the sheets, eyes shut as you stay warm. and it's peaceful, until you feel and hear the blanket being moved around and a panicked whisper of "but she's sleeping right next to us," when you decide to crack one eye open. just to see takiishi keeping endo pinned to the mattress with his forearm on the other man's upper back, takiishis other hand pulling endos pants and boxers down together in one go. neither of them notice that you're awake yet, endo just trying to keep quiet to not disturb you while takiishis more focused on sliding his dick between endos cheeks for now. until he chooses that's not enough and fucks him. right next to you while you're 'asleep.'
