raindrop and finnick meet at a capitol gala. raindrop is freshly eighteen and president snow decides it's time to put her into the spotlight. they are introduced literally by snow himself.

that night, snow forces finnick to wait in raindrop's room for her to give her a birthday surprise. when raindrop enters, she's absolutely bewildered and almost offended finnick is there. when he explains the situation, she's furious and deeply saddened for him. they spend the rest of the night just talking.

he finds out she's actually very sane and doesn't agree with her grandfather's ideas and agenda. it's.. very refreshing.

-- how long until they get together?

ha, a very long time. they don't get together until district 13. they spend their time together in the capitol, when appropriate, and long for each other in every other situation. their romance is secret so snow can't manipulate it.

-- how does the plot change?

after catching fire, finnick is taken to the capitol where raindrop eventually breaks him out. she takes him to district thirteen where she's mistaken as the enemy and is imprisoned and tortured until finnick can save her.

an odesta x reader girlie

grows up in d4 and to make additional money in the markets made jewelry out of shells, sea glass, and other things found on the beaches

these markets are where she meets finnick and annie

she feels guilty for crushing on them, but they both are very honest with each other and so from early on are discussing with each other that they think she's cute, she's sweet, and as feelings develop also talk with one another

once they're together they pass her off as annies best friend but those in the district who know definitely know (and so does snow)

her and annie have a garden together

finnick teaches her knots and she teaches him different things about shells, what they can symbolize, and just animals that live in them originally too

she makes them both different necklaces just for them but also ones with three different objects to represent them

this is where the periwinkle name comes from since her shell is the periwinkle shell (specifically the beaded ones)

finnick is the telescopium shell (his necklace in the quarter quell is a cut open one to symbolize only having a part of himself with him when having to be without her and annie)

and annie's is turitellas

whenever finnick is gone she helps soothe annie and take care of her but they also just love gardening and beach days and she'll braid annies hair and she teaches annie how to make jewelry with things they collect, and this is especially true during the quarter quell

she is someone who because of all that annie and finnick have gone through doesn't thinks she has a right to complain so she holds it all in despite being a very sensitive person

so she takes care of annie and pushes her own emotions down when finnick is gone bc she also others herself

they both love her and treat her like part of them, but she has decided she's just not as important as them, that they would pick each other, so she doesn't see her being upset as being as valid as annie being upset

because snow knows what's going on she is taken to the capitol with annie and sees her family die first, all being shot by peacekeepers

she is tortured in the capitol, preying on the way she already has othered herself, on top of other forms of torture

when rescued she starts showing signs of agoraphobia and struggles to get around d13 and even after the war with going outside in general

she's so happy for finnick and annie to be getting married, but also especially bc the capitol got in her head, she becomes convinced that this is the end coming soon bc they're married and don't need her

she also still doesn't consider her trauma real

she realizes she's pregnant before finnick leaves and the wedding occurs but is so in her head that she says nothing and then when annie realizes she's pregnant is pushes her more into not speaking up bc she sees that as more important and further proof they don't need her

she does, before finnick leaves, accidentally tell katniss she's pregnant, and katniss does keep it a secret until she accidentally say something to finnick at some point on the mission and he is shocked, and doesn't know annie is pregnant at this point

so he is shocked (bc he survives) when they take the capitol and both her and annie are pregnant

which is how annie finds out she's pregnant too

and she finally has to talk about her feelings with them and they get to reassure her

then they live the rest of their happy family lives in district 4

what is cherry's worst ever crashout? 🍒

cherry's worst ever crashout is literally dubbed "the crisis." cherry basically was getting billy out of a tough patch where he nearly relapsed back into alcohol. she was with him literally 24/7 helping him with the cravings, mood swings, emotions, withdrawal symptoms, all of it. then like a week after he started getting better karen caught him with two groupies and told cherry asap.

she literally left town.

no one could find her. she only told daisy where she was going because she knew daisy wouldn't tell anyone anything. it took three weeks for cherry to come home. billy was literally on his knees begging for her forgiveness.

for a month after, she slept in the living room on the couch. ate on that couch, refused to share the bathroom at the same time. it was a really really bad time for everyone because when cherry and billy are miserable, so is everyone.

but like after that month things were normal again.

so a readersona is a reader persona. its y/n glorified and without using y/n. so you take a persona you like and use it in the readers perspective. normally readersonas don’t have descriptions physically since they’re “your character” within that universe it takes place in!

I wanna pick ur brain about how u whip up your readersonas

Do you start with the story first or a general placeholder name and aesthetic first? Or is it a bit of both like: "i wanna write a story about so-and-so and these are the major beats, so this reader needs to have this sort of personality and vibe"? Or is it an unnamed, fourth option?

I'm just finding myself struggling with my Hunger Games readersonas; maybe it's because there's very little room for out-there concepts without reinventing the wheel for the umpteenth time & just trying to figure out the names. (But honestly it's probably because I've only read the first and fifth books respectively, watched the first movie, & just know the canon beats just because... yeah 🤷‍♀️)

I dunno, I'm curious on how you piece things together when anons + mutuals aren't building off of one another (my inbox is either empty or just full of spam messages from bots & it keeps glitching 💀💀💀 hate this app/website)

most readersonas start out during maladaptive daydreams, I have always been a maladaptive daydreamer and like that's how sweet girl was born

my favorite maladaptive daydream at the time was as a girl who in her games manipulated her fellow tribute into falling in love with her so she could win and the way that guilt would follow her down (queue silver springs) and finnick was there too. but usually I maladaptive daydream about the idea of a person and the love interest just happens to be there for fun. their personality and backstory is the part I flesh out the most.

sometimes I do start thinking like oh I want an x reader aka readersona for this character and then idk there's automatic connections my brain makes and I imagine it while listening to music from there. like oh I want an eddie x reader...what if she's in a girl group that eddie hates on so like enemies to lovers. or I want a karen x reader...what if she's dating another member of the band. and I decide their personality from there yk.

the readersona nicknames I don't even consider really, I only use them for organizational purposes bc I would get confused ab which asks had to do with an ongoing x reader versus a new concept. sweet girl was just the nickname finnick used in the river so she became sweet girl. muse is just muse bc she's billy's muse. whimsy is just bc she's got whimsical vibes. I pick something that feels right based off what I already have. I just make something up.

ik that's not what this ask is about but using the opportunity to just say clarify that a readersona is *not* an oc, all my fics are basically just written in second person it's "you" that's the point. I'm never gonna have people say "Hi, Perwinkle" bc that's not her name it's just a placeholder so I know what thing we're talking about in asks and what we're discussing. If you like y/n, that's fine, I just don't, it's not me, I prefer not reading y/n fics bc the letters take me out of it. write what you want, do what you want. it's just a thing I started doing like over a year ago bc it's helpful to me
