ALSO LMAO THE REN AND STIMPY COMMENT HITS TOO CLOSE TO HOME, VERY TRUE... talking with other friends and animation historians who once drank the Spumco kool-aid really does feel like an Alcoholic's Anonymous meeting. i was never full blown as i sadly see so many people who are (and can't help think that they too will have their inevitable detox), but... yeah, if you want a golden age influence and one done correctly, go straight to the source! that's exactly what i did and it did me a world of good

personally, I am agnostic on the topic of preemptively blocking people (and sharing block lists, for that matter). I don't usually block people myself unless I'm getting directly harassed and they're becoming a distraction/it's the only way to get them out of my notes. with that being said, that's a personal choice of mine, and I fully support the rights of any blogger to block any other blogger for any (or even no) reason. nobody is entitled to read or interact with anybody else's blog.

this should also go without saying in this day and age, but I do not condone nor encourage anyone going to any of the above blogs to counter-bully them. do not spam their posts' notes, do not send them anon hate, so on and so forth. just block (or don't, if you prefer) and move on. not only for your own sake, but because from my limited direct interactions with/knowledge of a couple of them, it's clear that they crave the attention and it only feeds into their self-pitying view of themselves as the perpetual victim (despite them being the aggressors in each instance I've borne witness to). don't feed the trolls, etc etc.

sometimes i do find the state of the mxtx protag's post canon social lives funny like.

shen qingqiu has:

one (1) liu qingge (he's one of the only peak lords i'd actually call shen qingqiu's friend)

one (1) shang qinghua (possibly, i think they could have a pretty good post canon friendship but as of the books i think they're more allies out of necessity)

one (1) set of qing jing peak disciples

that's it.

wei wuxian has:

one (1) wen ning

one (1) flock of extremely devoted juniors

one (1) sect leader nie huaisang (possibly. unlikely but they could)

one (1) set of mianmian and her husband (possibly)

i mean!! the one you wouldn't expect to succeed the most in this area has the most friends out of all of them!! lmao and it's not necessarily wei wuxian's fault given the whole over-a-decade-long propaganda campaign against him but still... no excuses for shen qingqiu though lmfao. i do like to laugh about it

I would 100% expect Xie Lian to be well-liked, cause other than his circumstances, he is very charming and people who do not know him like him. Same for Wei Wuxian: people who do not know of him and his reputation love him upon interacting with him. The only downside to his social life is that no named character his age outside of his husband, Mianmian, and Wen Ning is worthy of his respect, let alone friendship, so why would he take the time to get to know them? While both Wei Wuxian and Xie Lian are charming characters, neither of them seem to want to maintain a large circle of friends.

But Shen Qingqiu??? Idk what you’re on about with him, everybody in Cang Qiong Mountain Sect—except for the Bai Zhan Peak disciples, maybe— loves him! His fellow peak lords are constantly complaining about how he never visits enough because he’s on his forever honeymoon. They find out he’s come back to his peak and they gather at his house to force their way in. I feel like he’s also not one to care about having a large circle of friends, but his martial siblings sure as hell won’t let that stand!

Okay sooo...in relation to my last post, which I will try and not verbatim, I am considering having this blog still be its own thing for Cars and all that jazz, still serving as my 'main' blog. And then having a separate blog(ONE. JUST ONE.) Where I put alllll my nonsensical ramblings or gushing or whatnot over other characters there. So it will be two blogs total. Just this one serving the same purpose it always has, and then a second one that will just be a jambalaya of "Oh I wonder what Kane has dug up in the mines this time. Let's go find out!"

How I am going to merge everything from my other blogs, I'm....not too sure. Since it'll all be just one big bang of different fandoms that'll sway a lot from how much I am or amn't fixated on them, I probably won't go too crazy with making different links to things like my S/Is story with them or whatnot, and I will just cut it all down to one carrd so there's not like five different ones to read through.

I think I will keep the other blogs simply as archives, if you will, just because sometimes I like to look back at myself losing my own mind. But I won't post from those blogs anymore, they will simply just be...floating around.

Sorry if this has been asked before but have you ever considered posting your tumblr fics on ao3? I only ask because sometimes navigating tumblr can be awful, especially on mobile. No pressure though. I just really love your writing and want to read as much as possible.

hey thank you so much for asking! I currently do not have any plans to move all of my tumblr fics to ao3, but I assure you I’ve thought about it.

I view my tumblr writing as very different from my ao3 writing, which is why it feels like a big deal for me when I start a fic on ao3 that i fleshed out as an au or series of ficlets on tumblr. Putting it on ao3 means committing to the details, the story format, the moment in time of the plot I want to tell.

Take the regency au for example. That’s a series of ficlets on tumblr, but I would love to one day put a story up on ao3 for it. But if I put the ficlets up now in the same format I created the KUWSK ao3 fic (aka ficlets set in the same verse but not necessarily in chronological order), I would feel trapped by the format and I wouldn’t ever be able to post it in a traditional story format….if I one day figure out how I want that story to start. Do I delete the ao3 fic of the disconnected ficlets? Do I repost scenes and pretend they’re all new scenes? Do I just start posting the new chronological story at the end of that ao3 fic?

Tumblr fic posting feels more fluid to me because I’m just writing disconnected moments in an au and I always link them in the tag — and I have a master list of tumblr fics here — so if I get something wrong continuity wise it’s not that big of a deal, and I can jump around to whatever moment I want to tell at any time.

For me, it’s not just reposting a piece of writing from tumblr to ao3– it involves me thinking about what I want this story to look like (ie, the hunger games au on ao3 will be set in space; the playmaker au may involve a journalist obi-wan instead of a detective obi-wan) instead of what disjointed moment i feel like writing.

So it is something I promise I have thought of, and it’s something I’m not interested in at this time. If I were to ever delete my blog and orphan my fics, I’d make a concentrated effort to move some if not all of the writing here over to ao3 for people to save as they’d like, but that’s sort of the only scenario I think I would do that in
