@issun-boshi tagged me in a writer meme thing
1. which character is the hardest for you to write, and why?
In terms of OCs, main boy Atticus Wright from my story Number Fourteen is really difficult because his narrative is so.. sparse? simple? compared to the way I usually write. Also he doesn’t have a bitter bone in his body and that’s so hard for me LMAO. In terms of fanfiction, writing Andrew Minyard is both the hardest and most fun thing for me. He’s a hard character to get right in writing.
2. what’s your favorite line you’ve written?
I am SO bad at this question so have this line from my last fic, rendezvous in blue: “ Andrew is all knives pointing out, blades sharpened to cut, and Neil has too many scars to even dare falling on them. “
3. describe an OC’s appearance, or your own take on a character’s appearance for an AU
I’ll go with OC main character #2, Matheus Molina from Neo Noir. He’s basically a six-foot brown stringbean baby with messy black curls, dark brown eyes, and long-fingered, delicate hands. Regardless of his height, the best way I can describe Matheus is one of those black umbrellas that blows by on the street with a broken spoke. He does his best, but he’s always rumpled, always in all black. Baby boy. Sharp features for a soft heart.
4. pick a character and describe an outfit they’d wear
Neil Josten. Jorts, orange mesh tee over white long-sleeve. Cat socks.
5. do you prefer to write in third person or first person? why?
Third person! Writing about myself is almost always angsty. Also I can’t dramatically describe my own features with lines like “he brought all moonlight down into the water / white in bare bones and ink in skin-tight clothes”
6. what’s your go-to music genre for writing?
Depends on the project! I design a playlist for just about every project ever and they all vary by some degree. indie alt, indie pop, classical/choral, alt rock, R&B, etc etc
7. when you write, what do you want your readers to feel?
My hope is that my readers relish my descriptions and visuals the way I relish writing them. My writing starts and ends with metaphorical and physical imagery, settings made from massive environments that control the characters to some degree. I also hope they get a thrill out of the action the way I go ooOOO when I’m tapping away at midnight ksjgksg
8. do you outline, or do you figure it out as you go? why?
I usually have a very vague outline that consists of one or two main goals I want to achieve and maybe 2 bullet points on events that happen to get there. Any more than that and I usually deviate into another country and leave my outlines in the dust. I’m so bad at sticking to my initial idea and always change as I write.
9. what popular trope do you really, really hate?
I actually am not a fan of amnesia AU’s because I feel like they erase a whole emotional history I think is integral to the character’s being. Also they make me anxious because I’m like “no!! YOU LOVE THEM NO”
10. do you have any special rituals or habits you have before you write?
I always get something to sip (ice water, tea, iced coffee) while I write. And then I turn on Spotify, review what I wrote the day before and edit it, and then build on it until my brain fizzles out and I have to stop.
...I feel bad because I’m so busy-tired rn I don’t have time to make new q’s for people but if anyone would like to take these ones I would love to see your responses! let me love your writing
