look !! it’s jace montgomery !! he’s my favorite a-list actor with 34.3M followers, even though he’s only twenty-one. i heard he can be vexatious and egotistical, but i think he’s ambitious and jocular. when i first saw him, i could’ve sworn he was noah centineo, but i’m sure he’s heard that before.

Hellooooo. My name is Ali, but we’re not gonna talk about me, so.... this is my butthead Jace. He used to be a sweetheart (and still can be rarely), but the spotlight turned him sour. Let’s see… .

Jace’s full name is Jason Oliver Montgomery, but do not call him Jason. He has never gone by that name (save for maybe once as a wittle child???) and will not answer to it. There may be a rare couple exceptions.

Born October 31st! Halloween baby, man. Grew up in Seattle, Washington.

Jace and his parents made the permanent move to LA when Jace made his way into the business as a child actor at age 11, but he still spent plenty of time visiting his grandparents.

His father (Brooks Montgomery) is also in the business and travels a lot, so he’s not around super often, but the relationship is still okay between them.

He was raised mostly by his mother (Lori) with the help of his grandparents (Maeve and Albert), spending a lot of time with his grandfather listening to jazz music.

Jace loves and cherishes jazz, but at this point in his life, he would never tell a soul. Not his aesthetic, ya feel?

His grandpa Al was always, always teaching him to know who he truly is and stick to it, never let the spotlight change him, and always remember his morals. Jace adored his grandfather and took his words as law. He worked hard to remain humble and remember who his grandfather taught him to be as a man, until....

Jace’s attitude went south around the same time his grandfather’s health declined and he eventually passed. Ever since, that sweet little Montgomery boy has rarely been seen. RIP. Welcome, Asshole Jace.

This boy no longer gives a fuck about anybody (okay, there MAY be one or two out there rn, buT HE’LL NEVER SQUEAL). It is Jace against the world now, and he will burn it to the ground... when he’s not charming it up for the cameras and his fans lol.

He does, however, have a tendency for bad publicity. Typically little scandals and hookups and perhaps a bar fight or two ?? who knows??? Like we established, he doesn’t give a fuck.

Jace recently had more than his share of negative publicity, so now his publicist is working on a way to fix it. lolol bless this person

Jace is Spider-Man! Most recent claim to fame! He starred in The Amazing Spider-Man (maybe a year or two ago???), and now production is getting ready to start for the show Edge of Spider-Verse.

Ummm I think that should be good to start with? I’ll try to work on an about page for him. :D Anyway, I’d love to plot, so come at me! I have a couple (not well thought out) ideas, but I’ll def need some help brainstorming.

Max arrived late at training that day. He’d been making plans with Rafe, who had gone to do “stuff”, to scout out the school and Central Park, where Rafe had killed the first Greater Demon.

What awaited him was a special guest. “Mina Carstairs!” Max exclaimed, and ran to hug one of his best friends. Wilhelmina Yiqiang Ke Carstairs, daughter of Tessa Gray and James Carstairs, 15 years old, hugged him back with fierce affection.

“Max! I’ve been waiting for you,” she said when they broke apart and Max could finally breathe. Mina’s grin brought a smile to his own face; her cheeriness was contagious.

“Sorry, didn’t realise it was so late. How come you’re here? Did Uncle Jem or Aunt Tessa come with you?” He looked around, in hopes of finding Tessa’s serious face, or Jem’s kind one.

For a second a dark cloud came over Mina’s expression, but then she brightened, making Max wonder if maybe it was a trick of his imagination. “No, I’m here alone. Ma and Ba had some urgent work in Los Angeles. Thought I’d come visit you while they’re gone.”

Max had a feeling there might be more to that, but didn’t ask more. He led her to the training room, where they could hear voices from inside. Mina, ever the troublemaker, shot a gesture which Max interpreted as quiet, idiot! when in his defence he hadn’t even said anything. Yet.

“…not necessary!” came Aunt Clary’s voice, stubborn and determined. She seemed upset, although Max couldn’t imagine why. Aunt Clary was one of the strongest people he knew, easy to laugh and hard to deter.

“Clary…” that was Uncle Jace, his voice surprisingly serious. The rest of the words were cut off by Church’s large and accusatory meow right where Max and Mina stood. “Stupid cat!” Max was fairly sure Uncle Jem would not approve of Mina calling Church stupid, but before he could point that out, the doors of the training room burst open.

Clary looked surprised, and as Max had suspected, a little upset, but Jace looked as he always did: a lazy smile on his face, ready to make a joke.

Clary hugged Mina and told her she looked really pretty. Mina went on to ramble about “How Aunt Clary’s top that day really complimented her eyes.” Typical Mina, ever the flatterer. She hugged Jace too, who winked at Max and then he and Clary went down the hall.

“What do you think they were talking about?” Mina said almost immediately as soon as they were out of sight, looking as if she’d found her favourite ice cream in the fridge (you knew I was going to make an ice cream analogy).

“I don't know,” he replied, slowly. It surprised Max that something could upset his Aunt Clary, who was one of the strongest and bravest shadowhunters he’d known.

Mina looked disappointed. She could never resist a good story. “So, you wanna train with me?” She asked, her eyes brightening again. Max nodded, Mina’s contagious smile making its way to his own face.

As they entered the training room, they were immediately met by a loud thump! as Auraline Herondale plopped out of the armchair she was hiding under, hitting her head in the process. Ari may have inherited extraordinary angelic powers from her parents, which allowed her to best almost anyone in a fight, but that didn’t stop her from being as clumsy as an egg.

A blush climbed to Auraline's face as soon as she came face to face with Mina. Mina was about two years older than her, and ever since Ari met her she’d adored the other girl. Max found it all oddly amusing and very sweet.

Mina hugged the flustered girl, and Max was half sure Ari would faint right there. Ari was a sweetheart to everyone she met. She worshipped Mina.

“It is so great to see you again, Ari! How have you been?” Mina asked her. Auraline’s eyes went full wide, making her look like an overly frightened fly in the web of a spider. Max found it weird, mostly because of the genetics, that Auraline might have a crush on Mina. Jace was descended from Tessa’s children while Mina was herself Tessa’s daughter. Nonetheless, they were both his best friends.

(Ok, ok. I get that it's *kind of* incest. But only a little bit. I think it’s cute. And they totally don’t have to date. Just saying.)

After regaining her composure, Ari managed to sputter out that she was fine. Mina’s eyes glittered. “So, tell me what you overheard,” she said, a devilish grin spreading on her face.

There are a few issues that come with being perpetually haunted by ghosts. They’re always interfering with electronics, there’s always some creepy face in the mirror, and they’re always throwing random household items across the room. It’s like, just calm down, dude, you’re not scaring anyone ! It’s just inconvenient ! Jace lets out a loud groan as his TV turns off again. “Dude, come on, we’re trying to watch a movie.” A murmur of ghostly whispers chime in in agreement. Most of them are pretty chill, nowadays. The NEW ONE still hasn’t settled in.

‘ you are going to die your body will be six feet beneath the ground you will be dirt and dust and --- ’

CUE THE EYE ROLL. “That’s dumb. You’re dumb. Shut up.” The ghost promptly shuts up. After a moment or two, the television flickers back on again, and he feels the presence slink away, defeated. A ghostly cheer ! Finally, they can watch the movie --- aaaaaand he forgot his friend is sitting right next to him.

“Dude, who the fuck are you talking too ?”

Summary: AU. Clary regrets turning down the Faerie Queen's offer at the end of City of Glass and attempts to set things right... but it will change anything in the heart of one who's already decided?

Attempting to Set Things Right

'I should just give the Seelie Queen what she wants', Clary had thought. 'Isabelle dated Meliorn, so he can't be all that bad. And this way, that bitch of a queen won't have a beef with me again.'

And that was what led to Clary, for the second time, walked further and further into Moon Lake—feeling she was about to drown, and wondering why she was even bothering ruining her clothes in muddy water, when she and her friends were finally pulled into the Faerie Court.

"Aaaaaand why'd we have to come here again, Clary?" Simon asked, as memories of when she kissed Jace here when she was still dating Simon, surely played in his mind.

Clary still felt awful about that—and how it had somewhat led to his becoming a vampire--even  f it couldn't have been helped, and they were right as rain now.

"I just... think I need to tell the Faerie Queen that I changed my mind, and that I'll help Meliorn get a seat on the council," said Clary, as Isabelle rolled her eyes. Despite dating Meliorn, maybe Izzy doubted the idea of him being a leader more than she showed—and perhaps she was wise to—or was it that she thought she could have done this in Clary's stead?

Jace had remained quiet throughout this entire trip and discussion here, but Clary didn't think he was brooding. No, he hadn't been doing that since they started dating—thank Mokona (1)—but did he think this whole thing was a bad idea?

"Clary... I don't know if it's a good idea to mess with the Queen like this,” Jace said now, as he looked at Clary with blazing golden eyes. “Faeries are very sensitive. You might think you're finally giving the woman what she wants, but the Queen may think you're twisting the dagger in even deeper."

And Clary wondered if Jace was thinking what she was: about how the last time they were here, the woman had taken a particular interest in destroying her. And would she find that same desire again, even though Clary was now trying to do her a favor?

Clary shook her head at that notion. They'd come this far, so it'd probably be best to not dwell on such things but rather to act. So she charged forward, under the vine-y ceiling above her, and into the Queen's throne room, all while Alec was saying, "I think I agree with Jace on this one. And we should have brought Magnus, just in case…"

But it was too late now, in more than one way. And this was proven as the Queen glared at Clary and waved her away. "Changed your mind about my offer, I see. If only I were a human, so my fancies could be as fleeting. But unfortunately, like the truth we can only say forever, I'm afraid that once we faeries have made up our mind, we stay that way."

"So does that mean you'll honor your promise to help Clary now, your lady-ship?" Simon asked the question Clary was too afraid to, like only a best friend could. She smiled at him, but then frowned as he got closer to the dangerous lady’s throne. Though she had daggers and her stele on her, the artist part of Clary almost wished she had brought colored pencils she could throw at the woman if she crossed the line.

"God, Simon, no!" Isabelle chastised, as she seemed to take note of all the red rubies around her with a laidback awe. Clary wondered what that was about… "You may have just made her indifferent towards our cause because of your poor word choices. 'Lady-ship'? Really?!"

"I'm sure it'll be fine, Isabelle..." Clary promised Simon—since if anything happened here, it wasn't his fault—even though she didn’t quite believe things would be alright. And if the way the Queen was smiling at her wickedly now was any indication, Clary had the right to feel on edge here. And she hated it.

"Yes, Simon, it'll be fine. For her majesty will surely prove how the Fair Folk are as loyal as they are lovely," Jace cut in as he beamed in the fae’s direction. But Clary noted something dark in his eyes, as if he'd noted how the Queen seemed to admire his charms and didn't quite like it.

"…Oh, very well. I will help you... for the ghost of a feeling Jace has given me here. And work that riddle out yourself. But don't spend any more seconds in time since gone."

And once the deal was apparently struck, the faerie had Clary and her friends get sucked back up through the lake—that was now somehow above the throne room now?—as she kicked them out of her lands, and back to the disgusting mud that Clary despised.

Eventually, Clary would realize she'd traveled to an alternate dimension in this place (and had temporarily lost her memories of her home while doing so), but things here weren't completely different from her old one … since even here, the Seelie Queen had been doing everything for the sake of her and Sebastian’s son.

…And by her ghost comment, she'd meant that the alternate and dark Jace would fall for the ghost, Livvy.

Author’s Note: That was an anime reference, since Clary loves anime.

And there are some spoilers in this. Sorry, Liz. Hopefully you’ll forget them. But I wanted to write you something TMI again, now that you’ve actually read the first book.

And the last part was supposed to tie into a story piece I had where the Jace from Edom falls in love with Livvy in The Wicked Powers, but I decided to cut it. Hope you all enjoyed!

I also wrote this, because as much as I love Clary… so much pain could have been avoided if she’d just said yes to the faerie queen’s request (though I get why she didn’t). So I had her trying that here, even if it amounted to nothing in the end.

I’m also glad to write all my babies from this fandom for the first time.

Oh, and Izzy taking note of the rubies in the Queen’s domain was supposed to show that she knew about the future and the Endarkened—since they wear red—and was already hinting that she was going to side with them.
